Christine Pritchett Batts, 86, of Martin, formerly of Dyersburg, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004 at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. She was a retired teacher from Martin Elementary School, attended the University of Tennessee Junior College, was a graduate of Bethel University, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Professional Sorority, the Bob Beavis Chapter of the Eastern Star and First United Methodist Church in Martin.

William Noel Carman, 67, of Newbern, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. He was a retired employee of Bohn Aluminum and a U.S. Navy veteran. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home with Paul Hogue officiating. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery in Newbern.

Raybon M. Chambers, 85, of Halls, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2004 at his residence. He was a retired postal service rural mail carrier, a Marine veteran of World War II , a member of the American Legion of Halls Post, a member of rural mail carriers association, a secretary of Men's Bible Class and a Sunday school teacher.

Wallace C. Dunn, 61, of Tiptonville, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004 at his residence. He was a retired employee of Goodyear Rubber Company and Tennessee National Guard and a member of Lakeview Baptist Church. Services will be at 1 p.m. today in the Tiptonville chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Brother Houston Northcutt officiating. Burial will be in Lake Memorial Gardens in Tiptonville.

Elder Jessie R. Wyatt, 65, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. He was pastor of Church of God in Christ. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Faith Deliverance Church with L.C. Hayslett and Bishop Denard Williams officiating. Burial will be in MCCO cemetery in Newbern. Cosmopolitan Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Lou Berta McIntosh, 96, of Dyersburg, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Don Layman and Bro. Ronnie Turner officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens in Dyersburg.

Mary Helen Childress Wells, 62, of Beech Bluff, formerly of Dyersburg, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004 at Jackson General Hospital. She was a former beautician, a graduate of Dyersburg High School and a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Leon Johnson Funeral Home in Henderson with the Rev. Fred Clift officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Fairview cemetery in Dyersburg.

Clarence U. Cochran Jr., 74, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004 at his residence. He was a semi-retired attorney and Dyersburg city prosecutor who practiced law for 46 years. He was former assistant public defender and assistant District Attorney General for Dyer and Lake counties, county attorney for Lake County, owned a private law practice in Tiptonville, was the general counsel for Peoples Protective Corp., Chief Deputy Commissioner of Insurance and Banking for the state of Tennessee, attorney for the Tennessee Department of Transportation, associate general counsel for the regional counsel's office of the U.S. .

Ruth Shaw Forrester, 98, of Ridgely, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004 at Ridgely Care and Rehabilitation. She was a retired teacher for Lake County Schools, an active member of First Baptist Church in Ridgely since 1918, graduated from Ridgely High School and Union University and was a member of Lake County Retired Teachers, Tennessee Retired Teachers, Delta Kappa Gamma teachers sorority and Chi Omega.

Baxter Arthur Taylor, 41, of Dyersburg, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004 at Volunteer General Hospital in Union City. He was a computer technician, a member of First United Methodist Church in Dyersburg and the West Tennessee Emmaus Community, and Eagle Scout, a graduate of Dyersburg High School where he was a four-year letterman in football and an all-state defensive player, a graduate of Austin Peay, ITT Technical Institute and the Harley Davidson Motorcycle Academy.

Gladys Jones, 95, of Dyersburg, originally from Gibson County, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, at Jackson-Madison County General in Jackson, Tenn. She was a retired proofreader for the Commercial Appeal and a member of First Baptist Church in Dyersburg.

Graveside services were held Sept. 14 at Sorrells Chapel cemetery in Dyersburg with Brother Don Williams officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She was a retired Wal-Mart employee who worked in the ladies wear department as a manager and a former employee of Grabers, Shainberg's, Kents and K-Mart. She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Dyersburg.
