Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Brother Rodney Lindsey officiating. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery.

Rachel Lee Gifford Harness, 86, of Nashville died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005. She graduated from Ridgely High School and Baird Brewer Hospital Nursing School in Dyersburg and had a long career in nursing. She worked at several hospitals and retired as an industrial nurse from the Proctor and Gamble factory in Jackson.

Mary Julia Heathcott, 87, of Newbern, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005 at Oakwood Community Living Center. She was a retired store clerk for F.W. Woolworth's in Dyersburg and a former member of Maxey Rome Demonstration Club. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. today in Fairview cemetery in Newbern with the Rev. Tommy Jowers officiating. Johnson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Vera M. Nelson, 91, of Halls, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005 at Wesley of Dyersburg. Services will be at 12 p.m. Saturday at Martin Memorial Chapel C.M.E. Church in Memphis with the Rev. Louis T. Purham officiating. Burial will be in West Tennessee Veteran cemetery in Memphis. H.H. Hudson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Carmon Dennison officiating. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery in Dyersburg.

Rita Mae Robles Warden, 47, of Unionville, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. She was a homemaker. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Brother Wesley Waddle officiating. Burial will be in Woodville cemetery in Ripley.

She was a homemaker, a member of Dyersburg First United Methodist Church, Sellers Sunday school class, former president of United Methodist Women, charter member and former president of Summer Hill Garden Club, former director of Dyer County Fair Association, former director and membership chairman of the Dyersburg/Dyer County Community Concert Association, director of the Pink Ladies at Methodist Hospital of Dyersburg, and member of Price Bible class at First United Methodist Church having served as Circle Chairman many times.

Dixie C. Kraatz, 96, of Laguna Woods, Calif., formerly of Dyersburg, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005 at her residence. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery in Santa Monica, Calif. Survivors include her stepson, Donald C. Kraatz and wife, Patricia; and her caregiver, Veronica Quinonez.

Carmelita "Carmen" Kirkpatrick, 46, of Ripley, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005 at Baptist-Lauderdale. She was a homemaker. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Grace cemetery. Garner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include her husband, Eddie Kirkpatrick; a daughter, Chasidy Simpson of Ripley; her father and stepmother, Noble and Virginia Ogden of Halls; four sisters, Patricia Hopper of Dresden, Sandra Rushing of Dyersburg, Jennifer Cantrell of Newbern and Frankie Trousdale of Cedarhill, Mo.; three brothers, Anthony Ogden of Dyersburg, John Ogden of Halls and Shannon Ogden of Nutbush; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Church of Jesus Christ, 815 S. Main, Dyersburg, with the Rev. Tommy Johnson and the Rev. Mickey Dodd officiating.

Dorothy Hillsman Leeper, 85, of Ridgely died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005 at her residence. She was a retired medical stenographer and a member of the First Baptist Church of Ridgely where she participated in the Ladies Prayer Circle and the Dorcas Sunday School Class.

Burial will be in M.C.C.O. cemetery in Newbern. Cosmopolitan Funeral Services are in charge of arrangements.

He was retired manager of Turner Dairies, an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and attended First Baptist Church. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Fairview cemetery with Brother Rick Crawford officiating. The family will receive visitors at 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Friday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Mary Spence Alsobrook, 89, of Halls, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005 at Dyersburg Manor. She was a graduate of Halls High School and Memphis Business School, she was city recorder for the town of Halls for many years, she taught bridge lessons for Dyersburg State Community College and wrote newspaper columns for the Halls Graphic, Dyersburg State Gazette and Lauderdale County Enterprise, a member of Halls First United Methodist Church where she was actively involved in United Methodist Women, a member of Key Corner Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution of which she was a regent, Lauderdale County Historical Society and Thursday Bridge Club.Services were at 10 a.m. Saturday at Halls First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Halls cemetery.

John B. 'J.B.' Connell (02/01/05)
John B. "J.B." Connell, 57, of Kittanning, Pa., formerly of Dyersburg, died Friday, Jan. 21, 2005 in Kittanning, Pa. He was a tractor-trailer driver for 35 years. Graveside services were at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Dry Hill cemetery in Lauderdale County. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was a retired employee of Morris Manufacturing and Tupperware and a member of Concord United Methodist Church in Gates. Services were at 10 a.m. Saturday at Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Jetton officiating. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery in Newbern.
