She was retired from Tigrett & Shibley Insurance Company and a member of Newbern First United Methodist Church. Services were at 11 a.m. Monday at Newbern First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tommy Jowers officiating. Burial was in Poplar Grove cemetery in Newbern. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

J.L. Franks, 73, of Dyersburg, died Friday, March 11, 2005 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. He was a dairy farmer and attended East Dyersburg Pentecostal Church. Graveside services were held Saturday in Mount Hope cemetery in Dyersburg with the Rev. Ron Lovins officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

James Earl McCord, 61, of Dyersburg, died Monday, March 14, 2005 at Wesley Care Center in Dyersburg. He was a retired janitor of Parkview Hospital. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Church Grove cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Edmundson officiating.

Charles Curry Yarbro, 46, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, March 13, 2005 at his residence. He was a commodities broker for Bunge Corporation. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Fairview cemetery with Brother Jim Pilcher officiating. The family will receive visitors at 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Curry Funeral Home.

Brad Sawyers, 26, of Dyersburg, died Monday, March 14, 2005 at his residence. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Curry Funeral Home.

Mildred Warline Cook, 78, of Dyersburg, died Monday, March 14, 2005 at Oakwood Manor of Dyersburg. She was a homemaker. Services were at 11 a.m. Thursday at Halls Funeral Home. Burial was in Friendship cemetery.

William 'Bill' Hardy Sr. (03/17/05)
William "Bill" Hardy Sr., 76, of Dyersburg, died Monday, March 14, 2005 at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis. He was a retired U.S. Navy chief petty officer, chairman of the Dyer County Election Commission, member of Hess Masonic Lodge, First United Methodist Church, lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans, state commander of Tennessee in 1976, member of Outpost Sunday School class, a World War II, Korean and  Vietnam War veteran, served in numerous leadership positions on a variety of aircraft carriers and other vessels before retiring after 30 years of service in 1976.

Etheridge Lee "Billy" Armstrong, 60, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. He was a retired employee of the City of Dyersburg and a member of Cross of Jesus Church in Dyersburg. Services were Thursday in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home with Brother Mac Daniels officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County memorial Gardens.

Lydia Janice Chumley Gregory (03/18/05)
Lydia Janice Chumley Gregory, 65, of Clearwater, Fla., formerly of Newbern, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at her residence. She was a waitress and a factory employee. A graveside memorial service for Mrs. Gregory and her companion, Calvin Martin Penfield, who died June 15, 2002, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Fairview cemetery in Newbern with Jerry Leach officiating. Johnson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Joyce C. McElyea, 75, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at her residence. She was a retired nurse and a member of Cottonwood Grove Baptist Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Cottonwood Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Houston Northcutt, the Rev. Mackie Prince and the Rev. Clyde Thompson officiating. Burial will be in New Haven cemetery. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Leroy Newton Sanders, 88, of Newbern, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. He was retired owner/manager of Western Auto in Newbern for 46 years, a World War II veteran, former Newbern alderman, former Newbern Rotary Club member, former commander of the American Legion and was a member of First Christian Church.

Lydia Janice Chumley Gregory, 65, of Clearwater, Fla., formerly of Newbern, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at her residence. She was a waitress and a factory employee. Joseph E. Kaplan, 100, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at Wesley at Dyersburg Nursing Center. He was retired merchant/owner of Kaplan's, a member of Kiwanis Club, life member of Masonic Lodge No. 490 in Leland, Miss., member of Scottish Rite in Memphis and a 32nd-degree Mason.

Joe Ladd, 77, of Greenfield, formerly of Newbern, died Thursday, March 17, 2005 at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. He was a retired farmer and manager of Federal Land Bank, a member, former deacon and former Sunday school teacher for 30 years of the young married Sunday school class of First Baptist Church in Greenfield.
