Services were Thursday in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Hogue and the Rev. Donnie Crone officiating. Burial was in Church Grove cemetery in Newbern.

Dixie Lee Cooley Holland, 72, of Winston-Salem, N.C., died Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Cremation Services Inc. is in charge of arrangements.

Services were Friday in the chapel of Curry Funeral Home. Burial will be in McCullough's Chapel cemetery in Dyersburg.

She was a homemaker and a teacher for Dyer County School Systems, a member of Mount Tirzah Baptist Church in Tatumville, member of Dyer County Home Demonstration Club, Dyer County Senior Citizens Club and Suburban Club.

David Willard I, 47, of Dyersburg, died Monday, June 13, 2005 at 3 p.m. at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. He was an employee of Excell Polymers for 24 years and a veteran of the Army and National Guard. Services were Wednesday at North 51 Church of Jesus Christ. Burial was in Fairview cemetery in Dyersburg.

Rev. Glen Stewart, 61, of Newbern, died Tuesday, June 21, 2005, at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. He was pastor of Light of the World Church in Newbern. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Light of the World Church with the Rev. Grady Hamilton, the Rev. Chris Brady, Dan Berry, Betty Pugh and Pam Miotti officiating. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery in Dyersburg.

Gladys Isbell, 86, of Trimble, died Sunday, June 19, 2005, at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. She was a homemaker and former employee of Trimble Manufacturing. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home with Doctor William Oakley and the Rev. Rick Isbell officiating. Burial will be in Good Hope cemetery in Dyer.

William "Bill" Armstrong III, 74, of Tiptonville, died Tuesday, June 21, 2005, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. He was retired from U.S. Corps of Engineer and a farmer, a member of Burrus Chapel Church of Christ, past commander of the American Legion and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

James Franklin Wood, 78, of Hornbeak, died Thursday, June 23, 2005 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City. He was a veteran of World War II and was a Baptist. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Halls Funeral Home. Burial will be in Maple Wood cemetery in Ripley.

Ernest Carroll Lents, 97, of Halls, died Friday, June 24, 2005 at the Alamo Nursing Home in Alamo. He was a farmer and the oldest member of Woodmen of the World. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Halls Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Lebanon cemetery near Halls.

James Nolan Ivy (06/28/05)
James Nolan Ivy, 83, died Wednesday, June 22, 2005 in Alvin, Texas. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Pacific Theater. He was an avid ham radio operator for 60 years. He retired from Trunkline Gas Company in 1988. Graveside services were held Saturday at 9:45 a.m. at the Confederate cemetery in Alvin. Froberg Funeral Home in Alvin was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Helen Chipman (06/28/05)
Mary Helen Chipman, 70, of Ripley died Friday, June 24, 2005 at Methodist Hospital North of Memphis. She was a member of the Baptist church. Services were Sunday in the chapel of Halls Funeral Home. Burial was in the Ripley Memorial Gardens.

Franklin Eugene Callens, 65, of Hornbeak, died Saturday, June 25, 2005 at his residence. He was a retired employee of Goodyear of Union City. He was a Gulf War veteran having served in the U.S. Air Force and a member of the American Legion. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 28 in the Ridgely Chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Callens officiating. Burial will be in New Haven cemetery of Ridgely.
