He was a retired heavy equipment operator, a member of Bells Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church, a Mason and a veteran of the Korean conflict. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home with Dr. Howard Hensley officiating. Burial was in Yorkville cemetery.

Wade "Fuzzy" Preslar, 50, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2005 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. He was an employee of Excel Polymers. Services were Wednesday in the chapel of Curry Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Williams officiating. Burial was in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

Jerome Dean Shumate, 69, of Tiptonville, died Monday, Aug. 22, 2005 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Giradeau. He was a retired farmer, a U.S. Navy veteran, a member of Tiptonville First Baptist Church, 1954 graduate of Tiptonville High School, a member of Lake County Levee Board, Board of Directors of Lake County Port Authority, received the Commander's Award for public service from the Corps of Engineers, a member of Harmony Lodge No. .

Lizzie Mae Thompson (08/30/05)
Lizzie Mae Thompson, 52, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005 at Methodist Hospital-Central in Memphis. She was a employee of Dyer County Sheriff Department and Walmart. Services were Saturday at International Gospel Temple in Dyersburg with Pastor William Holder officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park cemetery. Thompson's Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Eunice Forsythe, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Jewel Edward Crum (08/30/05)
Jewel Edward Crum, 61, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. He was a veteran of the Tennessee National Guard. Services were Friday in the chapel of Curry Funeral Home with the Rev. Mac Daniels officiating. Burial was in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

Corenia Maze, 88, of Dyersburg, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005 at Jackson General Hospital. She was a domestic worker. Services were Friday at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Dyersburg with the Rev. Louis Hudson officiating and Saturday at Oak Grove C.M.E. Church in Renzi, Miss. with the Rev. Kevin Crum officiating. Burial was in the Annie Deerworth cemetery in Renzi, Miss. H.H. Hudson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Edith Dotson Pernell, 88, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2005 at Dyersburg Manor Nursing Center. She was a retired employee of Dyersburg Fabrics after 40 years and attended Fowlkes Church of Christ. Services were Thursday in the chapel of Curry Funeral Home with the Rev. Elbert Callis and the Rev. Guy Merryman officiating. Burial was in Greenhill cemetery in Halls.

Bernard 'Larry' Riley (08/30/05)
Bernard "Larry" Riley, 56, of Eagle Lake, Fla., formerly of Dyer County, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005 at Winter Haven Hospital.
He was owner and operator of Larry's Lawn Care in Eagle Lake, Fla.
A memorial service was held Saturday at McCullough Chapel Baptist Church in Dyersburg.
Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home in Winter Haven, Fla. and Curry Funeral Home in Dyersburg were in charge of arrangements.

Patrick Russell Henry, infant son of Joseph and Ashley Henry of Dyersburg, died Monday, Aug. 21, 2005 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Graveside services were Wednesday in Sorrell's Chapel cemetery with the Rev. Mike Gardner officiating.

Eunice Box Forsythe, 79, of Finley, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
She was a homemaker and a member of Chic Free Church of God. Services were Saturday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Phipps officiating.
Burial was at Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

Mary Lou Hastings, 77, of Dyersburg, died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005 at Friendship Retirement Home.
She was a retired beautician, a member of the Lake Road Church of Christ, a member of the Dyersburg Women's Club and a member of the West Tennessee Hairdressers Association.

Vera Mae Cook Blythe, 78, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
She was a homemaker and a member of Ridgely First United Pentecostal Church.
Services were Tuesday at Ridgely First United Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Ronnie Eaves and the Rev. Bert Burkett officiating. Burial was in New Haven cemetery.

Nellie Jackson, 99, of Newbern, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005 at her niece's residence in Cordova. She was the former owner of Newbern Florist and a member of Newbern Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Services were Saturday at Newbern Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. George Butler officiating. Burial was in Fairview cemetery in Newbern. High Point Funeral Home in Memphis was in charge of arrangements.

Jerry Glen Lee, 47, of Newbern, died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. He was supervisor for Marine Terminals of Arkansas. Services were Tuesday in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Perry Grills officiating. Burial was in Mount Carmel cemetery in Newbern.

Rick Odom, 52, of Savannah, died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005 at Hardin Medical Center in Savannah. He was chief engineer for Bailey Street Bakeries in Atlanta for 15 years and attended Savannah Church of Christ. Services were held Saturday at Savannah Church of Christ. Burial was in Fairview cemetery in Dyersburg.

Thomas Edward Tatum, 65, of Tiptonville, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
He was a retired mechanic and a Baptist.
Services were Thursday in the Tiptonville chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev.
Any Martin officiating. Burial was in New Haven cemetery in Ridgely.

Alma Ardell Viar, 90, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005 at Dyersburg Manor Nursing Center.
She was a retired nurse's aide for Parkview Hospital and a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church.
Services were Thursday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Brent Rashall and Bro. Ray Carson officiating.
Burial was in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

Melvin Edward "Poppa" Bargery, 86, of Ridgely, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2005 at his residence.
He was a retired farmer and a member of Cottonwood Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for 60 years.
He drove a school bus for the Lake County School System for over 28 years and did maintenance work for many local businesses in Lake County.

Myrtle Aline "Monk" Burns, 86, of Dyersburg, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Finley United Pentecostal Church.
Graveside services were Sunday at Dyer County Memorial Gardens with the Bro. Tim Nichols officiating.
Curry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Katherine Quick, 72, of Tiptonville, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005 at her residence.
She was a homemaker and a member of Wynnburg Baptist Church.
Services were held Tuesday at Wynnburg Baptist Church with the Rev. Houston Northcutt and the Rev. John Fields officiating.
Burial was in Freemont cemetery near Union City.

He was a retired farmer and a member of St. John No. 2 Baptist Church.
Graveside services were Wednesday in Citizens cemetery in Tiptonville with the Rev. Perry Woods officiating.
Dyersburg Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

James D. Barnes Jr. (09/12/05)
James D. Barnes Jr., 52, of Ridgely, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005 at his residence.
He was a former industrial electrician for General Motors, a freelance photographer and journeyman carpenter.
A memorial service was held Saturday at Abundant Life Fellowship Church with Billy Earl Gray officiating.
Dyersburg Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Alvie Wayne "Levi" Daniel, 57, of Newbern, died Monday, Sept. 5, 2005.
He was a Army veteran of the  Vietnam War. Graveside services were Friday in Crossroads cemetery near Ripley.
