Alma Rhea Blair
Alma Rhea Blair, 86, of Englewood, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2007, at SkyRidge Medical Center in Cleveland.
A native of Englewood, she was a daughter of the late Grady and Julia Elliott Daugherty. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Carroll H. Blair, on May 30, 2007; two brothers, Zac Daugherty and Bill Daugherty; and two sisters, Zoe Stiles and Marie Monroe. A member of the Church of Christ, she attended the Englewood Church of Christ.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Mary Blair of Greeneville; two grandsons, Douglas Blair of Atlanta, Ga., and Bradley Blair of Maryville; and two sisters, Allie Jenkins of Englewood, and Wilma Harris of Chattanooga.
Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at McMinn Memory Gardens with Minister Robert Flowers officiating.
Pallbearers will be Bradley Blair, Douglas Blair, Tommy Jenkins, Jim Blair, Delane Stiles and Mike Stiles.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home.

Tyler Cole Myers
Tyler Cole Myers, 20, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007.
He was of the Baptist faith, and was a member of the National Guard 252nd military Police Company of Cleveland. He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Cora Lee Blackwell, C.L. Coleman, Marvin and Louise Hawkins and Robert and Lora Myers.
Survivors include his mother, Lisa Ann Myers Morgan of Cleveland; his father, Tony Morgan of Cleveland; his stepfather, Dale Hayes of Cleveland; two brothers, Cody Morgan and Tanner Morgan, both of Cleveland; one stepbrother, T.J. Selby of Cleveland; one stepsister, Amber Wilson of Cleveland; his grandparents, Bonnie Morgan of Cleveland, Lamar and Susanne Morgan of Turtletown, Tony and Joyce Stapek and Willis Myers, all of Cleveland, Phil and Rosemary Hayes of Decatur, and Burt and Frank Sims of Cleveland; a very special aunt, Margie Welchel of Cleveland; his great-grandparents, Lois Hawkins of Cohutta, Ga., and Rosella Coleman and Lawrence Blackwell, both of Cleveland; seven uncles, Eric Morgan, Patrick Cross, Terry Myers, Doug Hayes, Darrell Hayes and Mike Hayes, all of Cleveland, and Ray Hayes of Decatur; and two special friends, Jason and Jameé.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Chaplain Gary Chapman and the Rev. Ray Cheathem officiating, and concluding with a white dove release ceremony. The concluding service will be conducted at VFW Post 2598 with military honors.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Donnie Lee Pickel
Donnie Lee Pickel, 24, of Athens, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, at Erlanger Medical Center.
A native of Murfreesboro, and a resident of McMinn County for the last 12 years, he was preceded in death by his grandfather, Thomas Cunningham. He was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his mother, Sandra Pickel of Athens; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Valerie Pickel of Riceville, and Jason and Kelly Pickel of Athens; and his grandparents, Nadean Cunningham of Athens, and Paul and Shelby Robinson of Beach Grove.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Dallas Nance officiating. Graveside Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Grove cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Phillip Morrison, Josh Cunningham, Bryan Wyrick, Tyson Leamon, Clay Moore and Steve Pickel.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Lena Anderson
Lena Anderson, 91, a longtime resident of Athens, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at a Cleveland health care facility with her family at her bedside.
Born in Monroe County, she moved to Athens after her marriage. A longtime member of East Athens Baptist Church, she dedicated many years of her life to serving homebound members of the church. She diligently delivered food, drove precious shut-ins to doctor's appointments and drug stores, helped them with their Bible studies and encouraged them with her regular visits. She and her husband became a joyful team in this ministry during their later years together. Her legacy of care and ministry to the frail and forgotten leaves a large footprint. She also served many years as teacher of the Deborah Sunday School Class. She took great joy in preparing meals and entertaining people in her home. She also prided herself in hand-stitching beautiful quilts for each of her children and grandchildren. A daughter of the late Hugh Frank and Elsie Mantooth Frank, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Arrants Anderson.
Survivors include four children and their spouses, Norman and Daris Anderson of Chattanooga, Alma and Jerry Robb and Janice Martin, all of Franklin, and Dennis and Donna Anderson of Cleveland; seven grandchildren, Tim Anderson, Shannon Richardson, Stephanie Fox, Angie Anderson, Aubrey Poythress, Ashley Martin and Haley Anderson; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Lester Frank of Philadelphia; one sister, Pricie Watson of Sweetwater; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Pete Mullins officiating. Burial will follow in McMinn Memory Gardens with the men of East Athens Baptist Church serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

ROBERT LEE BOONE
ROBERT LEE BOONE, age 61 of Englewood, Tenn. went home to be with the Lord after a brief illness Sunday, January 4, 2008, in Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens, Tenn.
He was a native of Milledgeville, Ga. and had been a resident of McMinn County,Tenn. for 15 years.
He was a son of the late Robert and Daisy Loyd Boone and preceded in death by Sisters: Beverly Birchfield, Manokau Youngblood and Brother: Donald Boone.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and Regonized by the Salvation Army in Toccoa, Ga. for Special Service. He was of the Pentecostal Faith.
Survivors: Wife, Patricia Hallman Boone of Englewood, Tenn. with whom would have celebrated their 41st wedding anninversary on Jan. 6th. Daughter and Son-in-law, Kimberly Boone and Darrell Bergin of Niota, Tenn. Brother, Wayne Boone of Toomsboro, Ga. Two Sisters, Debra Cooper of Toomsboro, Ga. and Becky Smalley of Toomsboro, Ga. Three Grandchildren, Emily, Allison and Samuel Bergin. Special Nephews, Rob and Chris Birchfield. Several other nieces and nephews.
Memorial services 11:00 A. M. Saturday with Rev. Scott Curtis and Rev. Gary Bender officiating.

Carmen M. Dusseault
Carmen M. Dusseault, 70, of Athens, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, at SkyRidge Medical Center in Cleveland.
A native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, and a former resident of Johnson City and Sweetwater, she had been a resident of Athens since 1985. A daughter of the late Luis A. and Carmen Luisa Ferrer Migenis, she was preceded in death by one son, James "Jim" Anthony Wright, on June 29, 2005. She was a member of Christ Community Church and had served as secretary to the Graduate Dean at East Tennessee State University. She was employed by Tennessee Wesleyan College in the registrar office, East Tennessee Healthcare of Madisonville, as an administrator at Jonesboro Nursing Home and was a former secretary at Mars Hill Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Jake Swidan of Maryville; one brother, John W. Purcell of Lawrence, Kansas; one sister, Patricia Wilson of Lawrence, Kan.; four grandchildren, Logan, Lucas, Sophie and Rachael; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. John Stepp and Dr. Carlos Peterson officiating.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Helen Elizabeth Underwood Womac
Helen Elizabeth Underwood Womac, 83, of Athens, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at her residence.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, and a daughter of the late Charles and Minnie Malone Underwood, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Womac, on Feb. 22, 2000; one son, Bobby Womac; two sisters, Edna Mae Holder and Marie Arnett; and two brothers, Prois Underwood and Hubert Underwood. She was a lifelong member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church, and was a former employee of Van Raalte Hosiery Mill and Athens Stove Works.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Dewey Sizemore of Athens; one daughter-in-law, Louise Womac of Cleveland; one brother, the Rev. Elmer Underwood of Clayton, N.C.; 11 grandchildren, Tracey Neely and husband, Kenneth, Ricky Womac, Nicole Womac, Amy Veals and husband, Tracey, Kristi Self, Whitney Gray and husband, Jason, Detrick Sizemore, Peyton Sizemore and wife, Alicia Robison Sizemore, Blayton Womac, Kai'lee Womac and Tayla Womac; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Ogle Wattenbarger, Pastor Dorothy Hanson and the Rev. Jack Bryan officiating. Burial will follow in Sullins cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Detrick Sizemore, Peyton Sizemore, Blayton Womac, Jason Gray, Bobby Rothwell and Larry Arnett.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Lawson Dewaine "L.D." Roberts
Lawson Dewaine "L.D." Roberts, 90, died in his sleep on Friday morning, Jan. 16, 2009, at Willow Acres Assisted Living Home.
His son, Charles Roberts, and daughter-in-law, Pierina Roberts, of Gold N Gifts Jewelry Store in Athens, were with him until 9 p.m. the night before and rushed to his side at the time of death. He was almost 91 years old, born May 1, 1918, in McMinn County to the late Fred and Ellen Fowler Roberts. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Wood Roberts in 2005. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army, and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He was a businessman in both California and Meigs County, having owned and operated Roberts Grocery on Highway 68 and Clearwater Road in Meigs County from 1969 to 1981. In addition to the grocery business, he was a farmer, a father, a husband and a friend.
He was a lifelong member of the Masonic Lodge in Limatia, Calif., a Shriner, a 32nd degree Mason and a York Rite member in Tennessee. He lived with his son and daughter-in-law for two years after his wife's death and, for the remaining two years of his life, he lived at the private assisted-living home, Willow Acres. At Willow Acres, he was well taken care of and loved. Every weekend, Charles and Pierina would bring him home for his favorite breakfast, sausage, gravy and eggs. He would tell stories of his past and recall fond memories. He was very happy and well-loved in his last years.
He spent his last Christmas with his family (to include his great-grandaughters). He joins his wife and loved ones who have passed before him and rests in peace and love. He will always be loved and truly missed.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Pierina Roberts of Athens; one daughter and son-in-law, Annette and Pete Prichard of Franklin; two granddaughters and spouses, Christina and Maj. Les Barnett and Katherina and Dr. Steve Page; two great-granddaughters, Isabella Barnett and Madeline Page; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Roberts of Etowah; one brother-in-law, O.T. Wood of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home. Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday in Greenwood cemetery in Knoxville.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mae Elizabeth Tutterow Rowland
Mae Elizabeth Tutterow Rowland, 96, of Athens, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at Life Care Center of Athens.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, and a daughter of the late John and Dora Ferris Tutterow, she was a member of Wildwood Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was retired from Kuhn's-Big K Department Store, and was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Charles Ray Rowland, on March 5, 2006; one sister, Grace Baxter; and four brothers, Ray, Ralph, Curtis and Edgar Tutterow.
Survivors include one niece; and four nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Vest officiating. Burial will follow in McMinn Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Travis Barnett, Robbie Davis, Dickie Slack, Rusty Davis, Richie Davis and Ronnie Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be former students of her Sunday school class.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wildwood Baptist Church Building Fund, 1045 Hwy. 39 E., Englewood, TN 37329.

Bobbie Jean "Nancy" Baker
Bobbie Jean "Nancy" Baker, 62, of Athens, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at SkyRidge Medical Center in Cleveland.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Jack Franklin and Betty King Davis. She was of the Baptist faith, and was a former employee of Hughes Cafeteria. She was preceded in death by her twin brother, Larry Davis; and two sisters, Hazel Irene Davis Stephens and Ruby Jean Davis Grady.
Survivors include her husband, Danny Baker of Athens; two sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Candy Baker and Jeff and Paula Baker, all of Athens; one sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Douglas Nichols of Athens; five grandchildren, Kelsey, Tristin, Tanner, Garrett and Emily Baker; special nieces and nephews, Tammy and Greg Nichols, Gregory Nichols, Janice Moses, Danny Stephens and Mickey and Scottie Grady; and several friends and other family.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. James Morgan and Jerry Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in McMinn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mabel Ray Rymer
Mabel Ray Rymer, 92, a longtime resident of Athens, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, in Mount Pleasant, S.C.
She was born in Greeneville on Aug. 13, 1916, to the late Ethel Stanton and Hiram Clark Ray, and was preceded in death by her husband, Filetus Alexander Rymer, on Nov. 11, 1991; and two sisters, Geneva Weissinger of Kingsport, and Katherine Lake of Wilmington, N.C. She was educated in Greeneville County School and graduated from Tusculum College in 1937. She taught school at McMinn County High School and Athens Junior High School for 33 years. She enjoyed flower-arranging and gardening, and was a longtime member of the Athens Garden Club. She was a member of Athens First Baptist Church and loved her involvement in her Sunday school class.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Rymer of Atlantic Beach, Fla., and Ann Rymer of Taos, N.M.; one son and his wife, Bob Rymer and Catherine Anne Walsh of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; one sister and brother-in-law, Bertha and Jack Cathrall of Stratford, N.J.; her in-laws, Bill and Jean Rymer of Rogersville, Gladys Rymer of Knoxville, and Bob Lake of Wilmington, N.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Dr. Carlos Peterson officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
