MARGARET P. MILLAR

Margaret P. Millar, age 90, died Oct. 9, 2004 at Boulevard Terrace Nursing and Rehab. Center. Born in Montreal Quebec, Canada she had lived in Murfreesboro since 1969. She was a clerk with Marimont Inc.

She was the daughter of the late Harry and Doro V. Marchant Walford and widow of Robert Ramsay Millar.

Survivors include Peter D. (Karen) Millar of Smyrna, and Robert G. Millar.

A private service will be conducted for the family.

AMBER NICHELE HARRINGTON

Amber Nichele Harrington, age 39, passed away at her residence Oct. 12, 2004 in Nashville. A native of Baltimore, MD she had lived in Murfreesboro for several years before moving to Nashville three years ago. She attended Memphis State University. She was employed at Vanderbilt University.

Amber is survived by her parents; Richard and Julia Ann Andrews Harrington, of Franklin, TN, Brother; Randy Harrington of Baltimore, MD and a sister; Holly Johns of Holliston, Mass. Uncles and aunts; Tom and Bobbie Crook, Candace and Patrick Ellison, Christopher Andrews and William Andrews. Cousins; Heather Fisher, Holly Childress, Jennifer Guffey, David Crook and Brandon Andrews, nephews; Matt and Jason Harrington and Robert Johns.

A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Jennings and Ayers Chapel, with Grady Cooper officiating

Visitation with the family will be 9:00 a.m. until service time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Nashville Rescue Mission.

ALVAH (A.D.) PORTERFIELD

A.D. Porterfield, age 96, of Smyrna, died at Mayfield Nursing and Rehab Center Oct. 13, 2004. A native of McMinnville, TN , but had lived most of his life in Murfreesboro. He was a farmer and a member of First Church of God.

Preceded in death by his parents; William Edgar and Azalean Busey Porterfield, his wife, Bertha Shelton Porterfield, son; Kenneth Porterfield; daughter; Doris Porterfield, brothers; Houston Porterfield and Roy Porterfield, sisters; Willie Eaton, Mamie Peyton and Elsie Meshotto,

Survivors include two daughters; Sandra Green of Smyrna and June Hoge of West Palm Beach, FL, 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16th at Jennings and Ayers Chapel, with Mark Branson officiating and burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation with the family will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at Jennings and Ayers

JAMES 'JIMMY" EDWARD BROWNING, JR.

In loving memory of our son, brother, grandchild, nephew, cousin and friend, James Edward Browning, Jr. age 19. Jimmy was born June 27, 1985 and was taken from us Oct. 11, 2004. He was a native of Murfreesboro, a graduate of Siegel High School and was a member of Harvest View Church. He was employed with Kittrell School.

Survivors include; his parents, James Browning, Sr. and Lisa Marie Brown Browning of Murfreesboro; Sister, Miranda Browning of Murfreesboro; grandpa, Charles Browning of Ohio; 2 grandma's, Marty Sands of Woodbury, and Lola Gates of Ohio; 2 aunts, Carol Cox of Ohio and Vivian Newman of Murfreesboro; 6 uncles, Mark Brown of KY, Randy Browning and Timmy Browning both of Ohio, Alan Browning of Murfreesboro and Mike Brown of CA; plus 7 great aunts, and 5 great uncles, 16 cousins and 15 second cousins. We all loved Jimmy dearly. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.

Service will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Brian Harrell officiating and burial to follow in Coleman cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation with the family was 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Jennings and Ayers, 820 S. Church St. Murfreesboro.

ARTHUR LEE TITTLE

Graveside services for Arthur Lee Tittle, age 71, who passed away, Oct. 12 at Trinity Hospital in Erin, TN. will be 11:00 a. m. Friday, Oct. 15, 2004 at Evergreen cemetery with Rev. Woodrow Medlock officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. He was a member of the Christian Science Church.

A native and life long resident of Rutherford Co, he was in the lawn care business.

Son of the late Arthur Lee, Sr. and Julia Jennings Tittle, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Joe B. Tittle and Paul Howard Tittle and two sisters; Dixie Lee Crockett and Wilma Barrett.

Survivors include; sisters Carmine Tittle Reed (Harry) Johnston and Ruby (Selmar) Walls both of Murfreesboro.

Visitation with the family will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, at Jennings and Ayers, 820 S. Church St. Murfreesboro, TN

David Bryant Caldwell

David Bryant Caldwell age, 40 of Murfreesboro passed away, Friday, Oct. 15, 2004 at his residence. A native and life long resident of Rutherford Co., he was self-employed in construction and was a member of the Church of Christ.

Mr. Caldwell was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Caldwell. He is survived by his mother, May Underwood Caldwell of Murfreesboro, a brother, Mike Caldwell of Murfreesboro and a sister, Bettye Anderson of Murfreesboro, two nephews, Ricky Caldwell and Michael Caldwell and a niece, Cristy Caldwell.

Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel.

Visitation with the family will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Jennings and Ayers, 820 South Church St. Murfreesboro, TN

Mary Katherine Hillis

Mary Katherine Hillis, age 74, of Murfreesboro, died at National Health Care, October 21, 2004. A native of Coalmont, Tn she had lived in Murfreesboro most of her life. She was a member of Riverdale Church of Christ.

Preceded in death by her parents; Jessie C. and Katherine Butler Hillis and a brother; Claude Hillis.

She is survived by a brother; Walter C. Hillis of Murfreesboro, several nieces and nephews, special friends; Nancy Truett, Rhonda Bass, Patrick White and Michael Cauthron.

Service will be 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Ken Thomas officiating. Graveside service will be 11:00 a. m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004 at City cemetery, Tracy City, TN.

Visitation with the family will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Jennings and Ayers, 820 S. Church St. Murfreesboro, TN

Charles F. Spurlock Sr.

Charles F. Spurlock Sr. peacefully went to be with his Lord Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004. He was surrounded by loving family.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Jennings & Ayers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Evergreen cemetery. The Rev. Kenneth Hale and Bro. Ricky Clouse will officiate.

A native of Rutherford County, he lived his life with a love for the outdoors and a good day's work. He was a retired heating/air-conditioning and sheet metal contractor. Those who knew him will always remember his kind heart and gentle spirit. He was a member of Gethsemane House of Prayer. He believed in and witnessed the incredible power of prayer and the love of family and friends.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 50 years: Lois Marie Spurlock, in whose care he found constant strength. He is also survived by son Charles F. Spurlock Jr., of Murfreesboro; and daughter Donna Spurlock Kestner, of Nashville; grandchildren Charles F. (Chase) Spurlock III, Lyndsey Spurlock and Emma Spurlock, all of Murfreesboro, Shannon M. Bevins, of Denver, Colo., and Callie Kestner, of Nashville; one great-granddaughter: Olivia Bevins, of Denver, Colo,; daughter-in-law Kim Spurlock; son-in-law Michael Kestner; brother and sister-in-law Don and Kathy Mofield; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by mother Esther B. Brown; father Charlie Clarence Spurlock; brother-in-law Douglas Mofield.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Saturday at Jennings & Ayers.

JAMES WILLIS ESTES, Sr.

James W. Estes, Sr. age 55, of Murfreesboro passed away Thursday, October 21, 2004 at NHC after an extended illness. A native and life long resident of Rutherford Co. he was

self-employed in construction.

Preceded in death by parents; John Floyd and Emmie Bain Estes, brother; Houston Estes and a sister; Mandy McCoy.

Survivors include his wife; Cora Lambert Estes of Murfreesboro, son; James W. Estes, Jr., brothers; John Estes of Murfreesboro and Jim Estes of Lake Village, Indiana, sisters; Hattie Simanson, Novie Brewer and Allie Rhodes all of Murfreesboro and Martha Lenhart of Seymour, TN and two grandsons.

Service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday Oct. 25, 2004 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel, with John Smartt officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen cemetery with family and friends as pallbearers.

Visitation with the family will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Jennings and Ayers, 820 S. Church St. Murfreesboro.

THOMAS JOHN YOUNGBLOOD

Thomas John Youngblood, age 67 of Shelbyville died at his residence, Oct. 26, 2004.

A native of Murfreesboro he had lived in Shelbyville for the past 45 years, a former employee of Uniroyal and a former truck driver with Jostens, Inc., and a veteran of the U. S. Army.

Preceded in death by his parents; Raymond and Monie Hill Youngblood, and a brother; Roy Youngblood.

Survivors include his daughters; Vicky Lopez of San Antonio, TX, Kathy Youngblood of Sierra Vista, AZ and Leisha Boss of Shelbyville; brothers, Gene Youngblood of Shelbyville, and J. W. Youngblood of Lascassas; sisters, Janie Gentry of Murfreesboro, Dorothy Garrett of the Midland Community, Bessie Adkins of Decherd, TN and Linda Brannigan of Christiana; 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Service for Mr. Youngblood will be 12:00 noon, Friday, October 29, 2004 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with burial to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation with the family will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Jennings and Ayers, 820 S. Church St. Murfreesboro, TN

Samuel Buford Campbell

Samuel Buford Campbell, age 97, died at Middle Tn Medical Center, Friday October 29, 2004. A native of Carroll County, he had lived in Murfreesboro for the past 14 years.

Mr. Campbell retired with Huntingdon Hardware Co. and was a member of Huntingdon Missionary Baptist Church. He was one of the last few living real sons of a Confederate soldier.

Preceded in death by his parents; William and Sarah Eudora Warbritton Campbell, his wife; Mary Thomas Campbell.

Survivors include his son, Samuel Thomas Campbell of Memphis, his daughter; Martha C. Messick of Murfreesboro, grandchildren; J. Trent Messick, Melanie Malone, Brian T. Messick, Jennifer Farley, Greg Campbell and Sydney Campbell Shepherd.

Funeral service will be held, 11:00 a.m. Monday at Huntingdon Missionary Baptist Church and interment icon will be in Hebron cemetery in Huntingdon, TN.

Visitation with the family will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home in Murfreesboro and 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Dilday Funeral Home in Huntingdon, TN. In lieu of flowers memorials maybe made to the Huntingdon Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund, P O Box 572, Huntingdon, TN 38344

CLEON JENNINGS DIXON

Cleon Jennings Dixon, died on October 30, 2004, at the age of 97. Born in Watertown, TN, she was a graduate of Watertown High School and Cumberland University. She was Miss Cumberland in 1929. Her career included teaching high school math and English in Wilson and Bedford Counties. After moving to Murfreesboro in 1940 with her family, she taught piano in the Music department at Middle Tn State University and was part owner and manager of Bell Jewelers for 25 years..

Cleon was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church and the Anne Huggins Sunday School class, the Craddock Study Club, the Woman's Club, the Bohannon Music Club and the Little Garden Club. She enjoyed many bridge games over 60 years with her good friends, Florence McFerrin, Blanche Ayers, Irene Baldwin and Andrena Briney Green.

Preceded in death by her parents; Urban Leon and Mae Baxter Jennings, her husband; John H. Dixon, Sr., daughter Carolyn, sister; Evelyn Edwards (James) and brothers; Garland (Carol) Jennings, U. L. (Ruth) Jennings and Roy Brown Jennings.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law; John and Betty Dixon, grandchildren; Katie and John Trent Dixon, sister; Miriam (Richard) Hey and sister in law Ruth Jennings and nine nieces and nephews.

Service will be 11:00 a. m. Monday, November 1, 2004 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel, with Jerry Mayo officiating and interment icon in Evergreen cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Jennings and Ayers, 820 S. Church St., Murfreesboro

The family wishes to express its heart felt thanks to the staff at Adam's Place, their kindness and care will always be appreciated.

In lieu of flowers, friends may donate to the building fund at First United Methodist Church.
