Linda Ann Barrett Smith

Linda Ann Barrett Smith, age 63, left to be with the one who loved her most on April 24, 2008. She was a native and life long resident of Rutherford County.

She leaves behind a wonderful family, friends and neighbors. She is survived by her mother, May B. McCoy; devoted husband, D. Lee Smith; three very loved children, Jeff (Jennifer) Smith, Tammy Harris and Michael (Valerie) Smith; nine adorable grandchildren, Amanda, Tiffany Smith, Donielle, Patrick Harris, Samantha, Elizabeth May, T. J., Brooke and Luke Smith; devoted sisters, Joy (Ronnie) Dorris and Judy Jacobs; devoted brother, Michael (Carol) Barrett; several nieces and nephews all of Murfreesboro and several brother and sister-in-laws in Ohio and Kentucky and great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daddy, George Thomas Barrett, nephew, John Wesley Barrett and brother-in-law, Garry Jacobs; grandparents and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2008 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with nephew, Bro. Joel Young and Bro. David Humphrey officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen cemetery. She loved the Lord and was a Baptist. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. Lee Edward "L.E." Thomson

Lee Edward "L.E." Thomson, age 88, of Murfreesboro, passed away from this earth on April 21, 2008. Born April 23, 1919 he was preceded in death by his father Vance Richard Thomson, mother Essie Bell Thomson, and sister Kadell Thomson. A lifelong farmer, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he is survived by his loving wife of 69 years Sara Johns Thomson, children Edward Wayne Thomson of Murfreesboro; Larry (Hylania) Thomson from Readyville; Anna Lynn (Richard) Short of Murfreesboro; Sarah Dell (Charles) Bell of Milton; Rosaline (Ronnie) Knight of Murfreesboro; Joe (Elaine) Thomson of Lascassas; Polly (Roger) Lufkin of Milton, 13 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. L. E. retired from USCO. He was a member of Holly Grove Baptist Church. Visitation with the family will be 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 22, 2008. A chapel service will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home with Jack Wood and Frank Lipetri officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Jonathan Bradley Abel

Jonathan Bradley Abel, age 7, of Murfreesboro passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Sebring, FL he had lived in Murfreesboro for a while.

Jonathan is the son of Steven Keith and Tonya Fay Abel of Murfreesboro; grandson of his paternal grandparents, Roy and Darlene Abel of Utah; maternal grandparents, Robert and Patricia Lolley of Murfreesboro; brother, Jacob Lolley of Murfreesboro; step-brothers, Keith, Reid and Chad Abel all of Utah and step-sisters, Melissa and Brandie both of Utah.

A memorial service for Jonathan will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2008 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Dr. Lenny Farmer officiating. Visitation with the family will be 12 noon until service time.

Ocie A. Sanders Burnett

Ocie A. Sanders Burnett, age 81, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday April 16, 2008. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2008 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Brother James Lassiter officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be grandsons and friends. Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Jennings and Ayers.

Mrs. Burnett was the daughter of the late William and Ida Mae Sanders of East Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis E. Burnett; son, James O. Burnett; sisters, Pauline Sanders, Betty Lou Patrick and Geneva Lee; brothers, Owen Sanders, James Sanders, Sr., and grandchildren, Kenneth Wilson, Michelle Wilson, Karen Dutkanicz and son-in-law, Charles Wilson. She is survived by sons, Bobby (Marcee) Burnett and Doyle Burnett both of Murfreesboro; daughters, Betty (Danny) Elliott of Smyrna and Jerrie Wilson (Robert) Goins of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Johnny Brinkley, Bobby Burnett, Jr., Michael Burnett, Troy Burnett, Jason Burnett, Angie McGregor, Joseph and Tim Dutkanicz and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Burnett was a loving mother and grandmother and she knew no strangers. She was loved by everyone. When she was able, she attended Open Bible Baptist Church. She was a kind and loving person, if you needed it, and she had it, it was yours. No one will ever be able to replace our Mother and grandmother. She will be truly missed by everyone.

Bobby Adams, age 51, passed away at Vanderbilt Medical Center Monday, April 28, 2008. He was a native of Murfreesboro and has lived there all his life. He was a self employed plumber.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; James Ray and Gladys Williams Adams. He is survived by his wife, Angela Jones Adams, son, Jonathan Adams, brother; John Adams of Murfreesboro and Jeff Adams of Murfreesboro, sisters; Norma Bogle of Smyrna and Janie Russell of Smyrna, Delaware.

Etta Moore Phillips Lester

Etta Moore Phillips Lester, age 89 of Milton, passed away Thursday April 24, 2008 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. A native and life long resident of Rutherford County, she was a member of Clarendon Chapter Colonial Dames XVII, 17th Century; Colonel Hardy Murfree Chapter, Daughters of American Revolution; Crockett's Forde Seat, Chapter U. S. Daughters of 1812; Murfreesboro # 91 United Daughters of Confederacy; Volunteer of the American Red Cross – Blood donor 20 + gallons; member of Bradley Creek Baptist and a Sunday School Teacher for 57 years and a Veteran's Hospital volunteer. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Lester was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Dayton Lester; daughter, Sharon Martin; parents, Herbert and Lora Lannom Phillips and a brother, Hulan Phillips. She is survived by sons, Herb (Pat) Lester of Antioch and Hugh (Barbara) Lester of Lascassas; son-in-law, Ron Martin of Murfreesboro; sisters, Erline Lane and Virginia L. Wilson both of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Shane (Dena) Martin of Laurel, MD, Ginger (Lewis) Atkins of Humboldt, Dana (Jon) Palmer, Amanda (John) Ward and Emily (John) Cauthen all of Murfreesboro. Great-grandchildren, Tyler Atkins, Callie Atkins, Lanna Atkins, Sadie Atkins, Emma Atkins, Gideon Atkins, Kaitlyn Palmer, Abigail Palmer, Madison Cauthen and Taylor Cauthen.

Alfred (Al) Kleinschmidt

Alfred (Al) Kleinschmidt, age 86 of Murfreesboro, TN passed away Thursday, April 17, 2008 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. A native of Iron Mountain, Michigan he had lived in Murfreesboro for the past 3 years. He retired from General Motors, was a member of St. Trinity Lutheran Church in Clarkston, MI and a veteran of WW II having served in the U S Coast Guard. Mr. Kleinschmidt was awarded a plaque in appreciation for many years of dedicated and loyal services on behalf of the UAW Local 653 retirees executive board in Pontiac, MI. He enjoyed traveling, bowling and playing cards.

Mr. Kleinschmidt was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Anna Hoffman Kleinschmidt; brothers, Wilbert, Edward and Richard Kleinischmidt; sisters, Roselle A. Urbanek, Clara Streubing, Marion Van Gilder and Helen Kleinschmidt. He is survived by his wife, Blanch Dodd Kleinschmidt of Murfreesboro; step-sons, Jackie (Eileen) Freeman of Murfreesboro and Bobby (Leone) Freeman of Odisville, MI; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral service for Mr. Kleinschmidt will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2008 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel. Burial will follow in Evergreen cemetery.

William G. Humlhanz Sr.

William G. Humlhanz Sr. age 86 of Murfreesboro, passed away, Monday April 28, 2008 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. A native of Chalfont, PA, Mr. Humlhanz lived in Murfreesboro for the past forty years after serving in the U. S. Army – Pacific Theatre. Mr. Humlhanz was a department head with Paramount Packaging.

Mr. Humlhanz was preceded by his 1st wife, Nelly (Braiser) Humlhanz; 2nd wife Cassie (Toliver) Humlhanz; parents, William and Mary (Neubert )Humlhanz; brother Edward Humlhanz, wife Shirley; and one grandson, Andrew Joseph Humlhanz. He is survived by one son, William G. Humlhanz Jr. and wife Bernadette P. Humlhanz of Pennsburg, PA; one brother, Albert Humlhanz and wife Cass of Rohresford, PA; two sisters, Rose Konyk of Edison, PA. and Joan Posselt of Romney, West VA; one grandson, William G. Humlhanz III and wife Heather L. Humlhanz and great-granddaughter, Brianne V. Humlhanz of Perkasie, PA.

Miklos Nagy

Miklos Nagy, age 71, of Murfreesboro, passed away December 17, 2008 at Alvin C. York V.A. Medical Center. He was born in Hungry, but lived most of his life in Rutherford County. He was a former employee of Bridgestone and Flora Daniels as a maintenance mechanic.

Mr. Nagy is survived by his wife, Margaret Nagy of Murfreesboro; sons, Miklos (Penny) Nagy of McEwen, and Matthew T.(Lisa) Nagy of Hendersonville; daughters, Melissa A. Nagy of Smyrna and Monica C.(Calvin) Dias of Smyrna; grandchildren, Allan M. Nagy, Joshua K. Nagy and Cole H. Nagy, Seth A. Nagy, Makalyn N. Quitana, and Alexis L. Quitana, Victoria L. Nagy, Katelin B. Nagy, and James B. Nagy Casey D. Dias, and Dustin S. Dias.

James Robert Baxter

James Robert Baxter, age 69, of Unionville, passed away December 10, 2008 at Heritage Medical Center. A native of Rutherford County, he lived in Bedford County for the past 25 years. He was the owner/operator of Baxter's Body Shop.

Mr. Baxter is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mattie Robinson Baxter; two sons, Ronnie and Lonnie Baxter; and one brother, Johnny Baxter. He is survived by his wife, Pat Baxter of Unionville; six sons, Mike (Jennifer) Brewer of Wartrace, Donnie (Faye) Baxter of Pelzer, SC, Jessie (Kim) Brewer of Wartrace, Robert (Missy) Baxter of Woodbury, Steve (Stephanie) Brewer of Shelbyville and Billy (Kim) Baxter of Unionville; two brothers, Gary and Jessie (Rosemary) Baxter of Murfreesboro; thirty grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

James Ronald (Ronnie) Steelman

James Ronald (Ronnie) Steelman, age 56, of Murfreesboro, passed away on December 10, 2008 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. He was a native of Davidson County, but lived in Rutherford County for the past two years. He was a grocery store manager. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the Baptist Church.

Mr. Steelman is preceded in death by his parents, James Robert Steelman and Louise Steelman Comer. He is survived by his wife, Terri Steelman; one son, Jamie Steelman of Lavergne; three step-sons, Shawn, Jason, and Michael Peralta; two daughters, Janice Roberts of Yulee, FL and Allsion Hamilton of Lavergne; two brothers, Thomas and Johnny Steelman of Cookeville; two sisters, Carolyn Johnston of Dallas, TX and Jean Wheaton of Charlotte, NC; mother and father-in-law, Malcolm and Billie Watts; and eight grandchildren.

Dori Whitaker

Dori Whitaker, age 76, passed away on December 15, 2008, from a heart attack in route to Middle Tennessee Medical Center. She was a native of Laredo, Texas, but lived for the past 45 years in Murfreesboro. She was a Spanish and English teacher at Riverdale and Lavergne High Schools. Luther and Dori have helped in the Gulf following Hurricane Katrina.

Mrs. Whitaker is survived by her husband, Luther Whitaker of Murfreesboro; two sons, Lyle Bennett of Murfreesboro and David Bennett of Fredricksburg, VA; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service for Mrs. Whitaker will be held at a later date at Harvest View Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gulf Coast Mission Fund, 893-9900. Jennings and Ayers in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth Ann (Buff) Woodmore

Elizabeth Ann (Buff) Woodmore, age 88, passed away on December 2, 2008, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. Mrs. Woodmore was a native of Carthage, TN but lived most of her life in Murfreesboro. She was a volunteer of the Red Cross and member of the DAR.

Mrs. Woodmore is preceded in death by her parents, John and Amy Dean Beasley; her husband, Warner Woodmore; and one brother Bill Beasley. She is survived by one son, Britt (Barbara) Woodmore of Boca Raton, FL; two daughters, Ann (Charles) Dale of Newbern, NC; and Amy Gilley of Murfreesboro; six grandchildren, Warren, Wendy, and Libby Woodmore, Nelson Dale and Amy Dale Sao Joao, Lee and Brittany Gilley; and one great-grandchild, Alina Sao Joao.

Memorial service will be held on Friday, December 5, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church. Visiting will be held from noon until service with Tommy Perkins and Michael O'Bannon officiating.

Edna Ruth Bogle

Edna Ruth Bogle, age 89, of Woodbury passed away on December 8, 2008 at Dekalb County Hospital. She was native and life-long resident of Rutherford County. She was also a member of the Antioch First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Bogle is preceded in death by her parents, Ottie and Annie J. Richardson Melton; her husband, Laymon Bogle; one son Robert Melton Bogle; and one daughter Diane Bogle Hendrix. She is survived by her son, D.W. "Sonny" Bogle of Camden, TN; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bogle will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2008 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel. Burial will follow at Wards Grove cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Odell Taylor

Odell Taylor passed away December 7, 2008 at Adams Place Healthcare Center.

He was a lifelong resident of Rutherford County and a member of the North Boulevard Church of Christ. He retired from Murfreesboro Water and Sewer Department.

Odell was preceded in death by his parents, Freeland and Lula Anne Hutchins Taylor, brothers, Preston and Alvin Taylor as well as sisters, Mae Sanders, Violet Graham and Hassie Pittard. He is survived by his wife, Betty Taylor of Murfreesboro, son, Terry (Lisa) Taylor of Murfreesboro, grandson, Corey Taylor and special nephew, James Taylor.

Services for Odell will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Teb Batey officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen cemetery with James Taylor, Terry Hodge, Jimmy Stacey, Billy Taylor, Garry Taylor, Shane Hobbs, Ronnie Rankins and Clyde Hall serving as pallbearers.

Anna Lou Moore

Anna Lou Moore, age 88, of Murfreesboro, passed away on December 3, 2008 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. She was a native of Cannon County, but lived the past 20 years in Murfreesboro. She was a retired teacher of Cannon County and taught at Auburntown, Gassaway, Short Mountain, Eastside, and Woodbury Elementary. She was also a member of the Kingwood Heights Church of Christ.

Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Couch and Goldie Turney Bethel; her husband of 50 years Jesse Perry Moore; and one brother and sister-in-law, James D. Bethel and Robbie Wood Bethel. She is survived by two sons, Wesley Moore of Murfreesboro and Edd Moore of Smyrna and one daughter, Deborah Howell of Manchester;three nephews, Bob Bethel, Bill Bethel, Barry (Chipper) Bethel and one niece, Brenda Bethel Williams; fourteen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Her six grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel. Burial will follow at Sugar Tree Knob cemetery in Woodbury with Tony Holt officiating.

Justin Michael Massey

Justin Michael Massey, age 18, passed away on December 16, 2008, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. He was a native and life-long resident of Rutherford County and was employed with Wal-Mart in Smyrna.

Justin is survived by his mother, Patsy Reed Massey of Murfreesboro; his father, Michael Massey of Davidson County; his grandparents, Bobby and Rachel Reed; grandmother, Carolyn Pedelty; and two brothers, Joshua and Michael Massey.

Funeral services for Justin will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2008 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel. Burial will follow in Milton cemetery with Bill Reed officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Eugenia Ann Copley

Eugenia Ann Copley, age 66, of Murfreesboro, passed way on December 12, 2008 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. She was a native of Springfield, TN, but lived in Rutherford County for 28 years. She was a former employee of KMart and a homemaker.

Mrs. Copley is preceded in death by her parents, John E. Woodard and Daisy Mabelle Crow Woodard; one son, Steve Copley; one brother, Burton Woodard; and one sister, Ruth Macarthur. She is survived by her husband, Shade Lee Copley of Murfreesboro; two sons, Mark Copley of Murfreesboro and Tim(Lori)Guy also of Murfreesboro; three step- daughters, Leaica Carol, Rose, and Kathy Copley; one brother, David Woodard; and four sisters, Rose Meadows, Addie Grigsby, Doris Parks, and Becky Brady; and two grandhchildren, Tim Guy,Jr. and Sierra Copley.

Graveside services for Mrs. Copley will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 14, 2008 at Coleman cemetery.

Geneva Esther Reeves

Geneva Esther Reeves passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Adams Place Health Care. She was a native of West Union, Ohio and lived in Murfreesboro most of her life. She was a member of St. Mark's Methodist Church and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Henry Harrison Bartholomew and Mina Easter Bartholomew. She is survived by her sons; Mark Albert (Liz) Reeves and Thomas Bart Reeves, her daughters; Esther Elaine Yearwood, Cheryl Kaye (Johnny) Maxwell, Mina Lou (Leonard Davis) Gibbs, Susan Raye (Gary) Heffner, Claudia Jan (Charlie) Donnell, 28 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren.

Edward F. Arnold, age 78, passed away April 10, 2006 at Cookeville Regional Hospital. A native and life long resident of Rutherford County, after retirement from Greer Stopnut Co. in Smyrna he worked for Chromalox Corp in Murfreesboro. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force having served in the Korean Conflict and was a member of Minerva Drive Church of Christ.

Mr. Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, the late Luther Herman and Nannie Bob Broles Arnold and a brother Robert Arnold. He is survived by his wife Lois Annie Douglas Arnold of Murfreesboro, 1 grandson, Christopher A. Arnold and 1 grand- daughter, Meghan Nipper, nephews Bill and Leroy Arnold along with several other, nieces and nephews.

Funeral service for Mr. Arnold will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 15th, 2006 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Bro. Ron Harper officiating and burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation with the family will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Jennings and Ayers, 820 S. Church St. Murfreesboro, TN
