James Howard Askins, age 84 passed away, Sunday September 24, 2006 at Alvin C. York VA Medical Center. Born in Shelbyville, TN he was in the U S Army having served in WWII and was a member of East Main Church of Christ.

Mr. Askins was preceded in death by his parents, John R. and Ruby E. Rees Askins, his first wife, Vergie Askins and his second wife, Millie Askins. Survivors are his step-children, Clittie (Toby) McPeek, Joel (Cheryl) Taylor, Margie Orgen and Linda McWhorter; step-grandchildren, Greg Ashburn, Jonathan Ashburn, Tim Ashburn and Kim Patrick.

A graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 2, 2006 at Mt. Hermon cemetery with military Honors. Bro. Wayne Lankford will officiate.

Visitation will be 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home, 820 S. Church St., Murfreesboro, TN.

Kirby Ray Arnold

Kirby Ray Arnold, age 84 of Christiana, passed away at his residence, Tuesday July 8, 2008. A native and life long resident of Rutherford County, he retired from United Service Equipment Co. and was a member of the Church of Christ.

Mr. Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Mattie Fults Arnold; brothers, Edmond, Fred and Commodore Arnold; sisters, Clera Arnold, Carmine Gibson, Bessie Agee, Alberta Delbridge and Katherine Bailiff, He is survived by his wife Marie Kelton Arnold of Christiana; daughter Joanie Davis and son-in-law, Craig of Christiana and two grandchildren, Justin Davis and Lindsey Davis.

A graveside service for Mr. Arnold will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2008 at Kelton cemetery with Tommy Underwood officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation with the family will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Jennings and Ayers, 820 S. Church St. Murfreesboro, TN

Marvin Alsup

Marvin Alsup, age 79, of Murfreesboro passed away on November 5, 2008, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. He was native and life-long resident of Rutherford County. Mr. Alsup retired from Rich Products and was a self-employed construction worker. He was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Alsup is preceded in death by his parents, Homer Alsup and Mattie Comer Alsup; grandchildren, Jessie Starnes and Ryan Tyler Beasley; and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Jean Todd Alsup; two daughters, Carlene Beasley of Murfreesboro and Lisa (Tom) Rousseau of Chattanooga; a sister Lela Lipetri of Murfreesboro; and three grandchildren, Lauren Beasley Segroves, Sarah Beasley, and Melanie Rousseau.

The funeral service for Mr. Alsup will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 8, 2008 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Frank Lipetri and Chris Davenport officiating.

Katherine Jones Armstrong

Katherine Jones Armstrong, age 83, of Murfreesboro, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2007 at her residence. A native of Rutherford County, she was a former Nurse's Aide at Community Care of Rutherford County. She was a member of the Church of God.

Mrs. Armstrong was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Willie May Haynes Jones. She is survived by a son, Gene Armstrong of Murfreesboro; daughters, Dorothy M. Bratcher and Margaret Dalene Johnson both of Murfreesboro; sister, Marie Rich of Indiana; grandchildren, Melissa, Darrell, Ricky, William Dean and Michael Duane and 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service for Mrs. Armstrong will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 2007 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Rev. Tony White officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation with the family will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Jennings and Ayers, 820 S. Church St. Murfreesboro, TN

William Leon Armstrong

William Leon Armstrong, age 45 of Murfreesboro, passed away February 8, 2005 at his residence. A native and life long resident of Rutherford Co., he was in the construction business and a member of the United Pentecostal Church.

Preceded in death by his father, Willie Armstrong and brother, Johnnie Armstrong.

Survivors include his mother, Annie Frances Armstrong of Murfreesboro; daughters Le Ann Armstrong and Becky Armstrong both of Murfreesboro; brothers, Eugene Armstrong of Murfreesboro and Barney Armstrong of Carthage, TN; sisters Shirley Kennedy and Dorothy Bratcher both of Murfreesboro, Margaret Johnson of Leanna and Delene Walis of Lodi, N.J. and 3 grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a. m. Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Rev. Robert DePriest and Rev. Scott Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Jennings and Ayers, 820 S. Church St. Murfreesboro.

Eleanor J. Adamski

Eleanor J. Adamski, age 74 of Murfreesboro, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2007 at her residence. A native of Terryville, Conn., she had lived in Murfreesboro for the past 5 years. She was a former beautician, after retiring, she was a volunteer with Middle Tennessee Medical Center and an active member of the St. Claire Red Hat Society and a member of St. Rose Catholic Church.

Mrs. Adamski was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Ella Linsky Watkins; brother, Raymond Watkins; and a sister, Shirley Horst; She is survived by, her husband, Joseph Adamski of Murfreesboro; son, Joseph Adamski, III of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; daughters, Jayne (Bob) Stewart of Smyrna and Nancy (Bud) Coursey of Centerville, TN; four grandchildren, Ricki (George) Hunter, Kelly Stewart, Melissa (David) Boltz and Andrea Bowling; five great-grandchildren, Caitla, Gavyn, Alix, Presley and Emily; sisters-in-law, Melanie Adamski and Henrietta Klinkerch of Conn.

Funeral service for Mrs. Adamski will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 2, 2007 at St. Rose Catholic Church with Father James Kallarackan officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bob Stewart, Bud Coursey, Bill Hall, George Hunter, Jack Horst and David Biggs.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Alive Hospice of Murfreesboro.

Visitation with the family will be noon until service time at St. Rose.

Joseph Adamski III

November 1, 1960 - December 11, 2008

Joe Adamski, beloved son, brother and friend passed away quietly at his home in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida at the age of 48. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eleanor J. Adamski who now welcomes him to his heavenly home.

Joe was a free spirit who walked gently through life never very far from the things that gave him the most happiness - the sand, the sea and the surf. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Joe is survived by his Father, Joseph Adamski, his sisters Nancy and husband Bud, and Jaynie and husband, Bob, four nieces, Ricki, Andrea, Kelly and Melissa and 6 great nieces and nephews. Also surviving are two aunts, Sister Melanie Adamski, of Bristol, Connecticut and Henrietta Klinkerch of Farmington, Connecticut. Grace Engalin, Joe's loving friend and confidant, survives him in Fort Lauderdale.

A Celebration of Joe's life will be held on his beloved Fort Lauderdale Beach. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Murfreesboro Tennessee on Friday, December 19, 2008 at 1 P.M. followed by graveside services at Evergreen cemetery.

J. T. Anderson

J. T. Anderson, age 87, of Murfreesboro, passed away Monday, January 24, 2005 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. A native and life long resident of Rutherford County. He was a retired business man. He was a member of Sheppard's Chapel Church.

Preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Virgle Anderson; son, Curtis Anderson.

Survivors include wife, Lucille Hall Anderson of Murfreesboro, TN; son, Jimmy Garrett of Smyrna, TN; daughters, Nadine (Jim) Cook of Milledgeville, GA and Ruth McCrary of Murfreesboro, TN; brother, Charles Anderson of Beechgrove, TN; sister, Dorothy Phipps, of Smyrna, TN; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Bro. John Tipton officiating and burial will follow in Evergreen cemetery.

Visitation will be 4:00 until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at Jennings & Ayers.

Rev. Billy E. Andrews

Rev. Billy E. Andrews, age 77 of Murfreesboro, passed away Friday, May 30, 2008 at his residence. A native of Ball Ground, Georgia he had lived in Murfreesboro for the past 40 years. He ministered over 50 years, with 38 years at the Apostolic Ark. He also ministered in several countries in mission work; New Zealand, Singapore, Ireland, England, Fiji, Barbados, Israel, Trinidad, Jamaica, Africa, Australia, Canada and many others. Rev. Andrews founded churches in Old Mexico and India. He will be missed by his many friends and family.

Rev. Andrews was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Carl and Evie Haygood Andrews and a son, Gregory Mark Andrews, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Eloise Andrews of Murfreesboro; daughters, Gail Ford of Owensboro, KY and Rebecca Jones of Woodbury; grandchildren, Angela Faulk, Shannon Gough, Keith Murphy, Gregory Mark Andrews, Jr., Tonya Andrews and Melissa Andrews; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral service for Rev. Andrews will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2008 at the Apostolic Ark with Bro. Billy Paul Branham officiating. Burial will follow in Coleman cemetery. Family and deacons of the church will serve as pall bearers.

Martha Curtis Adcock

Martha Curtis Adcock, age 58 of Shelbyville, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at her residence. A native of Lewisburg, she had lived in Florida before moving to Shelbyville 6 years ago. She was a former employee of Walmart and a member of the Church of Christ.

Mrs. Adcock was preceded in death by her parents, the late Howard and Fannie Jane Isley Curtis. She is survived by her husband Charlie C. Adcock, Jr. of Shelbyville; son Charlie C. Adcock, III of New Hampshire; daughters Cindy Rutz of CA., and Mindy Myre of FL.; brothers James Curtis of Decatur, AL and Paul Curtis of Lewisburg; sisters Mary Pearl Chumbley of Culleoka, TN and Fannie Love of Bell Fast, TN and eight grandchildren.

Funeral service for Mrs. Adcock will be 12:00 noon, Saturday Oct. 15, 2005 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Ricky Clay officiating and interment icon in Evergreen cemetery. Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers.

Jean Vance Alsup

Jean Vance Alsup, passed away on May 20, 2006 at National Health Care in Murfreesboro, TN. She was a native and life long resident of Rutherford County. Jean was a member of East Main Church of Christ. She retired from Murfreesboro Water Department.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) Alsup, parents; Claude and Flora Vance, brother, Claude Vance Jr. and sister, Ruth Vance Wood. She is survived by son, Bill (Velvia) Alsup of Sugarland, TX, daughter, Betsy (Clark) Thurston, brothers; Ralph (Edna) Vance of Murfreesboro, and Robert Joe (Anna) Vance of Murfreesboro, five grandchildren; Patrick (Sara) Thurston of Atlanta, GA, Robert (Amy) Alsup of Wylie, TX, Billie Jean (Dennis) Brown of Murfreesboro, Ellen (John) Young of Charleston, WV, and Susan (Steve) Mollenkopf of San Diego, CA and eight great-grandchildren.

A chapel service will be 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Wayne Langford officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen cemetery. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Murfreesboro or East Main Church of Christ. Roy Jackson Arnold

Roy Jackson Arnold, age 84 of Murfreesboro, passed away, Monday January 30, 2006 at Middle TN Medical Center. A native of Rutherford County, he retired from United Equipment Co. and also a retired farmer and a member of the Church of Christ.

Mr. Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Octa Arnold. He is survived by his wife Audrey Eaton Arnold of Murfreesboro; son, Jack Arnold of Murfreesboro and two nieces Sharon Roddy and Betty Davenport.

A graveside service will be 12:00 noon, Thursday Feb. 2, 2006 at Coleman cemetery with Leamon Flatt officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Annie Frances Armstrong

Annie Frances Armstrong, age 81 of Murfreesboro, passed away Friday June 8, 2007 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. A native and life long resident of Rutherford County, she was a homemaker and a member of the United Pentecostal Church. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Armstrong was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Armstrong; her parents, James Richard and Tenny Brown Brown; sons, William Leon Armstrong and Johnny E. Armstrong; son-in-law, Joe Walis; a grandson, Steven Armstrong and a great-grandson, Kennedy Saling. She is survived by son, Barney Edward Armstrong of Carthage, TN; daughters, Shirley Kennedy of Murfreesboro and Delene Walis of New Jersey; brother, Elijah Brown of Murfreesboro; sisters, Luzett Pendergrast, Viola Burks and Jeannette Richardson all of Murfreesboro, Mary Morrison and Betty Mofield both of Knoxville; nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral service for Mrs. Armstrong will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Scott Armstrong, Justin Saling and Phil DePriest officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Thomas Franklin (Hound) Arnold

Thomas Franklin (Hound) Arnold, age 75, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2005 at his residence. He was a native and life long resident of Rutherford County. He retired from General Electric and was a member of Hillview Church of Christ. He was an avid sportsman especially coon hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Rex Rufus and Jimmie Lula Cobb Arnold, wife Lois G. Robertson Arnold; brothers, William Arnold, J.R. Arnold, and Aquilla Arnold, and one granddaughter, Denele Walker. Mr. Arnold is survived by sons; Jimmy F. Arnold of Murfreesboro, Houston L. (Debbie) Arnold of Readyville, daughters; Shirley A. (Perry) Jenkins of Leanna Community, Sarah J. (Gary) Holub of Christiana, and Brenda L. (James) Brown of Murfreesboro; sister-in-law, Margaret Bell Arnold, 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

A chapel service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Steve Watts officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen cemetery. Dorris Ray Ashford

Dorris Ray Ashford, age 55 of Murfreesboro, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at Middle TN Medical Center after an extended illness. A native and life long resident of Rutherford County, he was a retired self-employed mechanic.

Mr. Ashford was preceded in death by his father, Lucian Ashford. He is survived by his mother, Ruby Ashford of Murfreesboro; sons, Shane Ashford, Dorris Ashford, William Ashford and James Ashford; daughters, Shirley Ashford, Ruby Ashford, Jamie Bell and Ashley Ashford; sisters, Joan Ashford, Patsy Ashford and Mary Dean Wood all of Murfreesboro and Eloise Jones of Rockvale and 7 grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, August 17, 2006 at Evergreen cemetery. Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.

Prentice E. "Kemp" Alsup, Sr.

Prentice E. "Kemp" Alsup, Sr. born June 27, 1922 of Murfreesboro passed away Friday, February 29, 2008 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center after an extended illness. A native and life long resident of Rutherford County, he was an outstanding basketball and baseball player, retired farmer, builder and business manager. He was a member of Bellwood Church of Christ and a veteran having served in the U S Army.

Mr. Alsup was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lura Mount Alsup; brothers, Lillard Alsup, Arlie Alsup and Hylan Alsup; sisters, Nettie Massey, Clara Ingram and Annie Stuart. He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Arms Alsup of Murfreesboro; sons, Prentice (Linda) Alsup, Jr., David (Linda) Alsup and Roger (Mary) Alsup all of Murfreesboro; daughters, Linda (Kenneth) Ashford and Lisa Alsup both of Murfreesboro; brothers, Carl Alsup and Johnny Alsup; sisters, Lura Rogers of Murfreesboro and Mamie Edwards of Norene; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A graveside service for Mr. Alsup will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Evergreen cemetery with Mike Steakley officiating. Sons, grandsons and a nephew will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be men of the Bellwood Church of Christ.

The family would like to thank Caris Home Health Care for their services.

Lois Gertrude Robertson Arnold

Lois Gertrude Robertson Arnold, age 75, passed away Monday, November 14, 2005 at Middle TN Medical Center. A native of Rutherford County, she was a member of Hillview Church of Christ and a homemaker.

Mrs. Arnold was preceded in death by her parents; Tom and Pearl Goad Robertson, brothers Jim, Charlie, Clyde and Burley Robertson and a granddaughter Denele Walker.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Franklin Arnold of Readyville; daughters Shirley (Perry) Jenkins of Leanna, Brenda (James) Brown of Murfreesboro, Sarah (Gary) Holub of Christiana and sons Jimmy F. Arnold of Murfreesboro and Houston (Debbie) Arnold of Readyville; sister Margaret Bell Arnold of Readyville, 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Brother Steve Watts officiating and interment icon in Evergreen cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

J. B. Arnold

J. B. Arnold, Alma, MI, formerly of Harper Woods, MI

Born May 28, 1922 in Murfreesboro, TN; went home to be with his Heavenly Father on August 5, 2007, at the age of 85. J. B. was a loving son to Britten and Leila (Edwards) Arnold and grew to be a very giving person. He was a WWII veteran who proudly served in the U. S. Army and was a life member of the Masonic Order. J. B. was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Mildred Hoffman. Surviving is his devoted sister, Marie (Donald) McMillan of Mason, MI; nephews, Doug and Brit Hoffman and Jim and Wally McMillan. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 9, 2007 at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home. Interment icon will follow in Chadwick cemetery, Beechgrove, TN. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
