Janis Marie Warsmith, 78, of Morristown, passed away March 21, at Heritage Center, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She was a member of Webb’s Creek Methodist Church.
Survivors: husband, Harold R. Warsmith; children, Susan Rabold, Bonnie Valentine, Thomas, Mark and Robert Pollock, and Steve Warsmith; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Hays; and sister-in-law, Louise Distlehorst.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Mayes Mortuary with Rev. Allen Jewett officiating. Interment
will be in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends Friday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the services.

Wilbur Hoye Funk
Died: 03/22/2000
Wilbur Hoye Funk, 80, of Arlington, Virginia, died March 22 at Arlington Hospital.
He was a member of the Clarendon Presbyterian Church in Arlington.
He was retired from Bell-Atlantic Telephone after many years of service.
Wilbur loved Newport along with his wife, Delphia. They had made frequent visits here.
He is survived by his wife, Delphia Hogan Funk; son, David Funk; and sister, Beverly Hunter, all of Arlington, Virginia; and brother, Alvin Funk of Frederick, Maryland.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Arlington Funeral Home in Virginia. Burial will be in Columbia cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.
Family will receive friends Thursday evening at Arlington Funeral Home.

Jo Edna Fancher, 70, of Parrottsville, died Wednesday at her home following a lengthy illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane Fancher; parents, Estel and Flora Douthat; brother, Hal Douthat; and sister, Peggy Stroud.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Bobby Frazier of Parrottsville; grandchildren, Sheila and Tony Gibson of Newport; great-grandchildren, Julia and Cassidy Gibson of Newport; step-grandchildren, Yvette Manning and Rhonda Frazier; six step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Stroud of Illinois, Juanita Warwick of Knoxville, Coleen Lawson of McDonald, Frances McPhearson of Morristown, and Shirley Jones of Mosheim; brothers, J.C. Douthat of White Pine and Rex Douthat of Bulls Gap; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday at the Manes Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Young officiating. Burial will be in the Oven Creek cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Jerry Mason, 54, of Newport, died suddenly Sunday, March 19, at the Alvin York Veterans Medical Center of Murfreesboro.
He was a member of the Wilsonville Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hershel and Fannie Mason.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Steve Brew of Alaska; son and daughter-in-law, Erik and Mary Lou Mason of Newport; grandchildren, Joshua Brew, Sy Mason, Ashley Brew, and Bryce Mason; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Richard Holt and Wanda and Dean Evans of Newport; and special friend, Karen Conerly of Newport.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at the Wilsonville Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jerry Mason Memorial Fund established at the National Bank of Newport to help with expenses.

George S. Holt, 70, of Salisbury, North Carolina, died Sunday, August 23, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
He was born July 27, 1928, in Newport. He received his education in Newport.
His occupation was in sales and service of vacuum cleaners.
He attended Gospel Light Baptist Church in Salisbury, North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jonas and Dona Gray Holt; and a son, Jerry Holt.
Survivors: his wife, Brenda Mathis Holt; son, Jimmy Holt, Tennessee; a number of nieces and nephews; brother, Jonas Holt, Atlanta, Georgia; and siter, Josephine Lovell, Newport.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gospel Light Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Bankson officiating. Burial will be in Rowan Memorial Park, Salisbury, North Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Stanley Clevenger; parents, Danie G. and Sarah E. Short; sons, James Larry and Carl Edward Clevenger; granddaughter, Venus M. Allen; brother, Max D. Short; and sister-in-law, Shirley Short.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rex E. and Donna Clevenger of Mooresburg; son, Danny R. Clevenger of Morristown; daughter, Donna Allen of Newport; brothers, Clay, Jim, and Bill Short; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clarence and Shelby Short, Joe and Clouda Short, and Charles and Betty Short; sister, Shirley Newman; sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Richard Harville, all of Morristown; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

He was a veteran, having served in the Army Air Corp during WWII.
He is survived by his wife, Stella Morrow, of Parrottsville; sons, Jerry, Tommy, Charles Curtis, and Charles Lewis Morrow, all of Parrottsville; daughter, Arletha Morrow Martin of Parrottsville; brother, Jack Morrow of Cleveland, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Gordon Holt, 74, of Newport, died Monday morning at Baptist Hospital of Cocke County.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Alcoa and a veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Daisy Holt; sister, Eunice H. McDonald; and brother-in-law, James B. McDonald.
He is survived by his niece, Jama M. McDonald of Knoxville; special friend, Marvelyne Lockwood of Alcoa; as well as several cousins.
Graveside funeral services and burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Union cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Manes Funeral Home.
