He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Martin; mother, Dollie Martin. Visitation will be from 6 p.m., until 9 p.m., Tuesday, October 2, 2007, and 9 a.m., until service time on Wednesday. Hollis D. McCormick, age 63, of Westmoreland, passed away December 11, 2007. He is survived by several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe D. and Orene Morris McCormick. Visitation will be 6 p.m., until 9 p.m., Tuesday, December 11, 2007, and 10 a.m., until 9 p.m., on Wednesday. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, December 13, 2007, from The Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Andrews officiating. Interment icon will be in Forest Chapel cemetery.

Preston Newberry, Jr., age 66, of Westmoreland, passed away June 21, 2007, at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn. He is survived by his wife, Juanita Freeman Newberry of Westmoreland; daughters, Sis (Danny) Denton of Westmoreland, and Stephanie (Ricky) Hammock of Benton, Ky.; sister, Marie Sneed of Whitleyville, Tenn.; 5 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 4 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Preston Newberry, Sr., and his mother, Alma Draper Newberry. Visitation will be from 11 a.m., until 9 p.m., Saturday, June 23, 2007, and 10 a.m., until service time on Sunday, June 24, 2007. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Sunday, June 24, 2007, from The Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. O'Neal Huffines officiating. Interment icon will be in Anderson & Son Memorial Park, Lafayette, Tenn. Mr. Newberry was a member of Beech Grove Church of Christ. He was a life long farmer, and he worked at Fleetwood Homes.

Ruby Lee Carney Newman, age 92, of Red Boiling Springs, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at The Palace Nursing Home. She was born on December 29, 1914, in Castalian Springs, Tenn.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Paul W. Newman (1994), mother, Hattie Lee Maynard Carney; father, John Luther Carney, Sr.; brother, Woodrow Carney; and sisters-in-law, Mrs. Woodrow (Birdie Burton) Carney and Mrs. John Luther (Jewel Smith) Carney, Jr. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Wayne and Jewel Richardson Newman; a grandson, Kevin Andrew Newman; a granddaughter, Kelly Dianne Newman (Lee) Loyd; great-grandsons, Dylan Lee Loyd and Colton Wayne Loyd, all of Lafayette, Tenn.; a great granddaughter, Taylor Marie Newman of Trussville, Ala; brothers, Thomas (Beulah Martin) Carney of Columbia, S.C., and John Luther Carney Jr., of Jacksonville, Fla.
She attended Barthelia School and Hartsville High School in Trousdale County. She worked in Nashville at Loveman’s and Cain-Sloan Department Stores. She was a member of the Hendersonville Church of Christ for many years and later attended Lafayette Church of Christ until her health began to fail a few years ago.
Services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, May 24, 2007, at Woodard Funeral Home in Westmoreland, Tenn., with interment icon in the Hermitage Memorial Gardens, Hermitage, Tenn.

Jewell Dean Sullivan Ragland, age 74, of Westmoreland, passed away Friday, February 28, 2007, at Gallatin Health Care. She is survived by her mother, Naomi White of Lafayette; brothers, Woodson White and James (Jamup) White of Gallatin, Ricky White of Lafayette, Billy Sullivan of Hartsville; sisters, Patricia Brooks of Westmoreland, Kathy Sullivan of Hermitage, Carol Carr and Wilma Ballou of Hartsville. Visitation will be from 1 p.m., until 9 p.m., Thursday, March 1, 2007, 11 a.m., until 9 p.m., Friday, and 8 a.m., until service time on Saturday. Funeral services for Mrs. Ragland will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 3, 2007, from The Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. James Lawson and Bro Greg Dunham officiating. Duane Keith Riddle, age 54, of King Robert Lane, Westmoreland, passed away on January 21, 2007, at Sumner Regional Medical Center. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Joe Riddle of Westmoreland; son, Gary Duane Riddle of Woodbury; daughter, Martha Frances Nicely of Millboro, Virginia; father, Horace Bubba Riddle of Joelton; sisters, Connie Reed of Gallatin and Helen Williams of Greenbrier; 6 grandchildren. Visitation will be 5 p.m., until 9 p.m., Monday, January 22, 2007, and 10 a.m., until 9 p.m., Thursday, January 23, 2007. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 24, 2007, at 11:00 a.m., at the Providence General Baptist Church with Bro. Ricky Duffer and Bro. Daryl Braswell officiating. Herbert Leon Sadler, age 72, of Westmoreland, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2007, at Sumner Regional Medical Center. He is survived by his son, Everette Sadler of Gallatin, Tenn.; daughters, Gena Wright of Bethpage, Tenn., and Daphne Brock of Sparta, Tenn.; brothers, Lewis Buck Sadler, James Sadler, Wayne Sadler, all of Bethpage, Tenn., David Sadler and Billy Sadler, both of Westmoreland; sister, Frances Sadler of Bethpage; grandchildren, Justin and Joshua Sadler, Jay, John Allen, Emma and Anna Wright, and Jonathon and Jordan Brock. He was preceded in death by his father, Ellis Sadler; his mother, Lillie Mae Escue Sadler; and brothers Herbert and Robert Sadler. Visitation will be from 2 p.m., until 9 p.m., Friday, June 22, 2007, and Saturday from 9 a.m., until service time. Mr. Sadler worked at Crescent Manufacturing and was a long time farmer.

Louis Glenn (Buck) Sadler, age 73, of Bethpage, Tenn., passed away on August 17, 2007, at Sumner Regional Medical Center. He is survived his brothers, James and Wayne Sadler of Bethpage, Billy and David Sadler of Westmoreland; sister, Frances Sadler of Bethpage. He was preceded in death by his father, Ellis Sadler; mother, Lillie Mae Escue Sadler; brothers, Robert and Herbert Sadler. Visitation will be Sunday, August 19, 2007, from 10 a.m., until 9 p.m., and Monday from 10 a.m., until service time. Harriett G. Sanders, age 68, of Nashville, Tenn., formerly of Westmoreland, passed away November 17, 2007, at Alive Hospice Madison Campus. She is survived by her husband, Dale M. Sanders, Sr., of Nashville; daughter, Michelle Cox of Ashland City, Tenn.; sons, Dale Sanders, Jr., and Darrell Sanders, both of Nashville ; sisters, Sue Burgett of Gallatin, Peggy Joyce Slayton of Westmoreland; 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Homer Gray Lee; mother, Marguerite Massey Lee; daughter, Patricia Sanders. Visitation will be 12 noon until 9 p.m., Monday, November 19, 2007, and 10 a.m., until service time on Tuesday. Patricia Mae Scott, age 60, of Austin Peay Highway, Westmoreland, passed away on January 22, 2007, at her residence. She is survived by her daughter, Christina Troutt; son-in-law, Burt Troutt; grandchildren, Cassie Scott, Joshua Legg, Gidget Leonard, Caleb Legg, Abby Troutt, Annie Troutt, Beau Troutt, Christopher Troutt, Wilson Troutt, Jeremy Troutt, Kim Musgrave, and Emily Templeton; great-grandchildren, Jacob, David, Ryan, Emma, Ian, Nevaeh, and Cameron. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 23, 2007, from 3 p.m., until 9 p.m., and Wednesday, January 24, 2007, from 1 p.m., until 9 p.m., at Woodard Funeral Home. Eliza Larunia Simons, age 88, of Westmoreland, passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2007, at Westmoreland Care and Rehabilitation. She is survived by her son, Gobel Simons and wife Sharon of Westmoreland; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was the daughter of the late Jack and Effie Hall. She was married to the late Garlin Audean Simons for 61 years before his passing. She was also preceded in death by her son, Kendall Simons; sisters, Zelma Miller, Donnie Harrison and Gladys Harrison; and brothers, Luther and Garland Hall. Visitation will be 1 p.m., until 9 p.m., Friday, May 25, 2007, 10 a.m., until 9 p.m., on Saturday, and Sunday until service time. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Sunday, May 27, 2007, from The Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Guthrie Gregory officiating. Interment icon will be in Eulia cemetery. George Wilford Sloan, age 80, of Westmoreland, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2007, at his residence. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Sloan, of Westmoreland; daughter, Lisa Smith, of Westmoreland; grandchildren, Jamie Sloan, Ashley Morris and Dallas Smith; great-grandchildren, Jerica Sloan and Caleb Presley; sister, Agnes Sloan. Visitation will be from 2 p.m., until 9 p.m., Friday, February 24, 2007, and 11 a.m., until service time on Saturday. Memorial services for Mr. Sloan will be 6 p.m., Saturday, February 24, 2007, from The Chapel of Woodard Funeral Home with Bro. Willie Leduc officiating. Mr. Sloan was a retired construction worker, and he served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Ruby Nell Stafford, age 75, of Bethpage, passed away October 5, 2007, at Sumner Regional Medical Center. She is survived by her son, Roger Dale Stafford of Bethpage; sisters, Mabel Pryor of Castalian Springs, Janie Stafford of Westmoreland, Gail Odom of Bethpage, Anna Dishman of Bethpage; brothers, Sonny Tayse of Gallatin, Mabry Tayse of Wisconsin; grandchildren, Amy (Tobin) Segrist, April Hunter, Angie (Bobby) Scruggs, Dewayne (Linda) Stafford, William Stafford, Melissa (Kris) Ford, Dennis (Suzanne) Stafford, Bobby (Tammie) Stafford, Jessie (Jonathan) Thurman; 18 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Stafford ; father, Milton Lee Tayse; mother, Delilah Mayberry Tayse; brothers, James Tayse, Ed Tayse, and Frank Tayse; sisters, Margaret Mouser, Zephie Yates, and Carol Tayse. Zelda Mae Stewart, age 94 of Westmoreland, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2007, at her residence. She is survived by her cousins, Elwood Durham of Gallatin, Mildred Shull of Indiana, Brian and Charlene Borgman of Louisville, Ky.; dear friends, Billy and Bobbie Slayton of Westmoreland; special little friend, Sara Crowder of Bethpage; a host of step grandchildren, step great grandchildren and step great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Joe A. Tuttle; mother, Ella Durham Tuttle; husband, Charlie Stewart; sister, Annis Tuttle. Visitation will be from 7 p.m., until 9 p.m., Friday, October 12, 2007, 10 a.m., until 9 p.m., Saturday, and 10 a.m., until service time on Sunday.
