Sanford Waford Crosslin, age 96, a resident of Manchester passed away Friday, July 11, 2003 at United Regional Medical Center in Manchester. He was born February 10, 1907 in Coffee County, TN the son of the late Thomas Franklin Crosslin and Ola James Crosslin. In earlier years he was a farmer and also worked at PCA. He was the oldest member of New Hope Baptist Church having held membership for over 71 years.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Edie Bell Floyd Crosslin, two sons, Edgar Lee and Waford Wayne Crosslin, two brothers, Benton and Raymond Crosslin and sisters, Pervi Vickers and Bertha Lynn.

Survivors include children, Emogene (Roy) Fletcher, Floyd (Ann) Crosslin, Cleo (Curry) Trail, Louise (Wayne) Jones, Wallace (Joyce) Crosslin and Brenda (Tommy) Tomberlin, 16 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 9 step-great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and 2 step-great-great grandchildren.

Leon Williams and David Walls will officiate services and burial will follow at Ragsdale cemetery in Coffee Co., TN.

H. Cleve Crosslin

H. Cleve Crosslin, age 91, of Manchester, died December 9, 2003.

Mr. Crosslin was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Franklin and Ola James Crosslin; his wife, Alta Wilson Crosslin; two sisters, Perzie Vickers and Bertha Lynn; and three brothers, Benton Crosslin, Raymond Crosslin, and Sanford Crosslin.

He is survived by two children,

Betty Sue (Chuck) Joyce of Tullahoma,
and Richard (Linda) Crosslin of Manchester;

Five grandchildren, Tracey (Mike) Joyner, Tim (Jennifer) Joyce, Christa Crosslin, Jason (Deana) Crosslin and Karen (Bryan) Farrar;

Four great grandchildren, Zachary Joyce, Carson Joyce, Caitlyn Joyner, and Madison Joyner;

One sister, Ethel Shores;

Three brothers, Austin Crosslin, Hollis Crosslin, and Freeman Crosslin.

Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

Manchester Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Annie Ruth Crosslin

Annie Ruth Crosslin, age 78, of Estill Springs, died February 3, 2004.
Mrs. Crosslin was preceded in death by her parents, William Lee Gregory and Ruthie Elizabeth Vincent Gregory; one sister, Ophelia G. Crosslin; and three brothers, Bernice Gregory, Robbie Gregory and Francis Wayne Gregory.

She is survived by her husband, James Charley Crosslin of Estill Springs; two sons, William Gerald Crosslin of Lake Forest, CA and James Mitchell Crosslin of Richland, WA; and one sister, Elizabeth Hill of Manchester.

Burial will follow in Fosterville cemetery.

Coffee County Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

Dorothy Anne Crouch

Dorothy Anne Patterson Crouch, age 64, a resident of the Summitville community passed away Sunday, July 6, 2003 at her residence. She was born March 25, 1939 in Murfreesboro, TN the daughter of the late Lonnie and Nellie Patterson.

She was a homemaker and attended the Summitville Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Rita Faye Crouch, a sister, Evelyn Hale, and a brother, William Patterson.

Survivors include her husband, Leighton Crouch, a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Diana Crouch, granddaughter, Dusty Gannon and Husband Kerry Gannon, grandson, Jamie Crouch and wife, Beth, great-grandchildren, Kaleigh Gannon, Dylan Brown and Regan Crouch.

Burial will follow services at Shady Grove cemetery and Brother Mark McDonald will officiate services.

Carl Franklin Crowder

Carl Franklin Crowder "Frank", age 87, passed away Monday, January 26, 2004 at Memorial North Park Hospital in Chattanooga. Mr. Crowder was born October 8, 1916 on a farm near Kingston, TN to W.J. "Jack" Crowder, who was the Coffee County Agricultural Extension Agent from 1930-1955 and his mother, Vida Smith Crowder. he was also preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Sara Lewis Chumbley Crowder, a sister, Mildred C. Sullivan of Manchester and a brother C. E. "Jack" Crowder of Atlanta. Mr. Crowder moved to Manchester in 1930, attended City School and Central High School, where he graduated with the class of 1935. During WWII, he served with the U.S. Army for 42 months and was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He graduated from McKenzie Business College in Chattanooga and accepted employment with the Arrow Shirt Company in Atlanta. He retired as a purchasing agent in 1982 following 32 years of service. During his tenure with Arrow, he also lived in Minnesota and Pennsylvania. Most of his career was spent in Lewistown, PA where he was active in civic work and public service. A lifetime member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Mr. Crowder is credited with authoring a cermony ritual for the presentation of an American flag to each Boy Scout who attains the rank of Eagle Scout. he presented more than 300 flags to Eagle Scouts in central PA and the Grand Lodge of B.P.O. E. adopted the ceremony for use nationally. In retirement, he returned to Manchester where he was active in Rotary Club and the Bible Correspondence Course at Main Street Church of Christ.

He is survived by two sons, Charles Creed Crowder (Denese) of Hixon and Carl Chumbley Crowder (Mary) of Lewistown, PA; a daughter, Charlotte Durham (Marshall) of Hillsboro, Tn and six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a step brother, Ray Powers of Manchester.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Brenda Joyce Rhea Cunningham Stewart

Mrs. Stewart age 60 passed away Thursday, May 27, 2004.
She was the daughter of the late Abraham Lincoln Rhea and Evelyn Smith Winton

Franklin D. Cunningham

Franklin D. Cunningham, age 68, of Morrison, died February 6, 2003

Mr. Cunningham was preceded in death by his parents, Wic and Blanche Cunningham; two sisters, Jane Anderson and Velma Griffith; and one infant son, Franklin Scott Cunningham.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Cunningham of Manchester;

Two sons, Tim (Pam) Cunningham and Mark Cunningham, both of Manchester;

Three grandchildren, Chianne Cunningham, Justise Cunningham, and Dakota Cunningham;

Two brothers, W.C. Cunningham and Claude Cunningham, both of Nashville; and two sisters, Nell Long of Nashville and Louise Henderson of Manchester.

Burial will follow in the Gnat Hill cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to either Hospice of the Highland Rim or Multi-County Cancer Support Network.

Lyle Marvin "Bud" Dailey

Lyle M. “Bud” Dailey, 63, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2003 as a result of heart failure at his home in Manchester, TN. Born September 28, 1939, in Waukeegan, Illinois to Arthur and Dora (Schlosser) Dailey. After finishing high school in Zion, Illinois, Bud enlisted in the United States Army. He served honorably for three years, which included duty in Korea during the Korean conflict. Upon completion of military duty, Bud became a heating and cooling tradesman. He started and was partners with his brother Mel in Dailey Brothers Heating & Air in Florida before retiring. He enjoyed spending time in the company of his many friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers; Milford, Virgil, Merlyn, William, and one sister, Marjorie. Survivors include six sisters: Lora Aiken of Delavan, Wisconsin; Edyth McConnaughey of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois; Della Moore of Wake Forest, North Carolina; Deloris Skinner of Des Moines, Iowa; Barbara Ledford of Manchester, Tennessee; and Charmaine Bain of Stevens Point, Wisconsin; many nieces and nephews.

Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

Gordon B. Darnell age 66, of Manchester, TN. passed away Sunday at Manchester Health Care Center.

Mr. Darnell was preceded in death by: his parents James William & Lela Belle Lynch Darnell. His wife Nancy Louise Darnell. 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

His is survived by: 3 sons: Thomas W. Darnell, Terry Darnell and Bobby Ray Darnell.

3 grandchildren: Thomas, Jeremy, and Brandon.

3 sisters: Hazel Grosch, Thelma Rhodes and Odell Delbridge.

Lloyd Grady Darnell

Lloyd Grady Darnell, age 64, passed away Thursday, December 2, 2004 at the Medical Center of Manchester. He was a United States Navy Veteran serving durning the Korean War.

Mr. Darnell was the son of the late Clyde Grady Darnell and Jessie Pearl Crouch Darnell. He was also preceded in death by his step son: Troy Daniels.

Survivors include:

Ronald Lee Daugherty

Ronald Lee Daugherty age 59 passed away Sunday, August 31, 2003. at the Medical Center of Manchester. Funeral services will be held at a later date.

He is preceded in death by: Mother; Hattie Sue Jenkins Daugherty, Grandson; Adam Daugherty. He was a United States Navy veteran and was employed as a Master Hair Stylist.

He is survived by his father, Ben Daugherty of Portland, TN; 5 children, Robin Ryan of Texas, Theresa Buzzard of Missouri, Maura Williams of Manchester, Sean Daugherty of Nashville, and Penny Moreales of Shelbyville. 14 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Larry Daugherty of Florida and James Daugherty of Oak Ridge.

Dr. Alma Williams David

Dr. Alma Williams David, age 87, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2004 at United Regional Nursing Center in Manchester. She was born April 27, 1916 in Thompson Station, TN the daughter of the late Will and Ola Crawford Williams. She graduated from State Teachers College in Murfreesboro, and received her Ph.D. from Columbia University in New York City, NY. She joined the faculty of the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL, where she taught classes in early childhood education for many years. In 1942 she joined the WAVES and was stationed in Washington, D. C. during WWII. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Coral Gables, FL.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ben E. David and sisters, Caroline Williams and Catherine Patterson.

She is survived by two nieces, Nancy (Bobby) Cummings of Manchester and Joann Patterson (Bob Knight) of Washington, D.C. and two great-nieces, Mary and Amy Cummings.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Manchester in memory of Dr. David.

James "Jack" Davis

Service: Tuesday, November 5, 2002 1:00 PM
Little Hurricane cemetery

On Friday, November 1, 2002 James Thomas "Jack" Davis was called from his earthly home after an extended illness at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.

Funeral services for Jack, age 59, a resident of Manchester, TN will be conducted Tuesday, Nov. 5,2002 at 1:00 PM at Little Hurricane Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. Earl Pitts officiating. Burial will follow at Little Hurricane cemetery.

Mr. Davis was born January 31, 1950 in Rutherford County, the son of Mrs. Lena Davis and the late Tommy Alexander. He was educated in Coffee County, and shortly after in 1967 joined the United States Army.

He leaves to cherish his memory his mother and her husband, Lena Davis Baugh and Walter Baugh, Sr., of Manchester, loving sisters, Mary (William) Martin of Morrison, Lila Baugh Johnson of Manchester, and Manila (Richard) Eddings of Shelbyville, a great-aunt, Irene Field of Smyrna, TN. a loving and devoted friend Rosie Ramsey of Manchester, two God-children, Tracy Ramsey of Manchester and Yvonnia (David) Tate of Winchester and two God-grandchildren, Alexis Scott of Manchester and Deja Tate also of Winchester, four close friends, Jerry Francis, Sylvester Norman, Tommy Fowler and Amos Robinson. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and two special friends, Charles (Jamie) Biles and James (Shirley) Thomas.

The Family will receive friends at Little Hurricane Primitive Baptist Church Tuesday from 11:00 until time of services at 1:00 PM.
