George Theron Tarter

George Theron Tarter, age 81, a resident of Manchester passed away Friday, June 25, 2004 at his residence. He was born November 9, 1922 in Ozark, Alabama the son of the late William Buel and Mary Ethel Anderson Tarter.

He wads a retired Sgt. First Class with the United States Army, a member of Masonic Lodge #214, and a member of the Red Hill Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Jewel Leva Tarter.

Survivors include three children, Larry Tarter of Tullahoma, Edward Tarter of Manchester and Angel Tarter of Manchester, two grandchildren and a brother, Wayne Tarter of Birmingham, AL.

Brother Horace Lee Jacobs will officiate services and burial will follow at Wesley's Chapel cemetery.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Stroke Association.

Esther Lee Tate

Esther Lee Tate, age 89 passed away Sunday March 2, 2003.

She is preceded in death by: Parents, Harry Robert and Irene Mahoney Underdown, Husband Vernice Tate and Son Charles Thomas Tate.

She is survived by: Son and Daughter-in-Law Earl and Terry Tate of Cleveland, of Oklahoma.

Hattie Estelle Taylor

Hattie Estelle Taylor, age 88, a resident of Manchester, TN died Monday, February 24, 2003 at Manchester Health Care in Manchester. She was born May 15, 1914 in Coffee County, TN the daughter of the late Robert Lee Qualls and Mary Lee Keele Qualls. She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Franklin Taylor in 1998. She is survived by a sister, Miss Julia Qualls of Manchester, half-brother, R.L. Qualls of McMinnville and half-sister, Hazel Wochna of Manchester and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Elizabeth Arp Taylor

Elizabeth Arp Taylor, age 81, a resident of Manchester, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2003 at Life Care Center of Tullahoma after an extended illness. She was born March 17, 1922 in North Carolina, the daughter of Joseph Lee and Rose Ann Sheldon Arp. In earlier years she was a cook at Coffee County Central High School.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, W. J. Taylor, a son, Bill Taylor and a grandson, Johnathan Taylor.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Harry and Iva Taylor of Manchester, daughters and sons-in-law, June and R. S. Rigney and Judy and Donald Smith all of Manchester, 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and a brother, Jim Arp of Dayton, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.

Her son-in-law, R. S. Rigney will officiate services and burial will follow at Forest Mill cemetery.

Daisy Roberta Campbell Taylor

Daisy Roberta Campbell Taylor age 97, a resident of Manchester passed away Friday, March 19, 2004 at United Regional Nursing Home. She was born November 6, 1906 in DeKalb County, TN the daughter of the late Charles and Maggie Boles Campbell. She was the 4th of 11 children. She married her husband of 69 years, Almer W. Taylor on December 24, 1925. Mr. Taylor passed away in April of 1995. She was a member of the Church of Christ since an early age and attended South Side Church of Christ since the establishment of the church in the 1950's.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Wanda Wright Taylor, a great-grandson, Clayton Roy Taylor and 3 sisters and 6 brothers.

She is survived by three sons and their wives, Jesse T. Taylor (Iva) of Manchester, Roy A. Taylor (Edna) of Huntsville and Charles W. Taylor (Martha) also of Manchester, 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Beatrice Campbell Mathis and one sister-in-law, Velma Campbell and several nieces and nephews.

Brother Ralph Hart will officiate services and burial will follow at Ivy Bluff cemetery in Warren County, TN.

Luzetta Taylor

Luzetta Taylor, age 83, died Sunday, June 20, 2004 at the United Regional Medical Center. She was a former employee of Star Union, Genesco, and Retired from Batesville Casket Company. Mrs. Taylor was also a member of Main Street Church of Christ.

She is preceded in death by her Mother: Verna Gilley Bush, Husband, Claud A. Taylor, and Sister, Ruth Smith.

Bartley Harris Teal, Sr.

Bartley Harris Teal, Sr., age 63, of Hillsboro, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2004 at the Medical Center of Manchester. He was a member of Noah Fork Baptist Church.

Mr. Teal was preceded in death by his father, Lank Teal, Mother, Jessie Crosslin Teal, 2 Brothers, Donald and Vernon Teal, 2 Sisters, Frances and Evelyn Teal, and a Grandson, Derrick Teal.

He is survived by his:

Burial will follow at Farrar Hill cemetery.

William Woodrow Teal

William Woodrow Teal, age 68, of Manchester, died May 3, 2003

Mr. Teal was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Magalene Clouse and a brother, Walter Teal.

He is survived by his wife, Reba Carter Teal of Manchester; 2 sons, Timmy and Terry Teal, both of Manchester; 1 daughter, Kathy (Joseph) Williams of Murfreesboro; 2 grandchildren, Brook and Daniel Williams; father, Woodrow Teal of Manchester; 2 sisters, Lucy Crumley of Rossville, GA and Mary Ann Floyd of Wartrace; 5 brothers, Winfred Teal, James Teal, David Teal, Sr., Robert Teal and Ronny Teal, all of Manchester.

Burial will follow in the Fredonia cemetery.

Coffee County Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Jack Thoma

Jack Thoma, age 82, passed away Monday, August 30, 2004. He was the son of the late Eldon B. and Lilly Gibbs Thoma. He was an independent insurance agent for E.B. Thoma and Son Insurance Agency, Inc.

He was a retired Lieutenant Colonel and a WWII Army veteran. He was a member of the Tullahoma Rotary Club, the Holland Scholarship Committee, Trinity Lutheran Church, director of First National Bank of Tullahoma, Insurers Bank of Tennessee, served as a board member for the Tullahoma Education Foundation.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Hinkle Thoma of Tullahoma; four children, Brac (Emily) Thoma of Tullahoma, Bush H. (Linda) Thoma of Tullahoma, Dr. Beth Thoma of Jackson, Mississippi, and Bill (Vicki) Thoma of Tullahoma; seven grandchildren, Emily Ann Thoma, Sarah Beth Thoma, Margaret Florence Blackwell, Carson, Bracton, Jack E. and Bush Thoma, II; two step grandchildren, Matt and Andrea Perry.

The Thoma family asks donations be made to the Trinity Lutheran or Faith Lutheran Church or the Tullahoma Education Foundation or any charity of your choice.

Katie Mai Thomas

Mrs. Katie Mai Thomas, age 90, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2004 at the Medical Center of Manchester. She was a Homemaker and a member of Horse Mountain Methodist Church in Bedford County.

Mrs. Thomas was the daughter of the late Luther and Lou Chitwood Gregory. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Clyde Thomas. 3 Brothers, William,R.L.,and James Gregory.

William "Billy" Thomison
Died Wednesday, June 9, 2004

Mr. Thomison, age 70, died Wednesday at the Manchester Healthcare Center. He was a retired truck driver, served in the National Guard, and a former McMinnville Police Officer. Mr Thomison is preceded in death by his father

William Thomison and his brother Marvin Argo.

He is survived by his Mother: Betty Hillis of Manchester, Son, Steve (Shelley) Thomison of Manchester, Son, Rick (Shelia) Thomison of Manchester, Daughter, Teresa (Ed) Burns of Winchester, 9 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren.

The family asks that donations be made to the Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund in lieu of flowers.

Cecil Thompson

Cecil Thompson, age 63, of Manchester, died September 5, 2002

Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his parents, John William Thompson and Essie Mae Hill Thompson.

He is survived by brothers and sisters, Minnie Elizabeth Rollins, Geneva Ashley, Sewell "Soddy" Thompson, Betty Thompson Todd, and P.C. Thompson, numerous nieces and nephews.

Burial will follow at Manchester City cemetery.

Robert H. Thompson

Robert H. Thompson, Sr., age 88, a resident of Manchester, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2003 at the Tennessee Veterans Home in Murfreesboro.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James Benjamin Thompson and Mary Frances Holt Thompson, his wife Ruth June Crickenberger Thompson and a sister, Mary Frances Davis.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Robert "Bobby" Thompson and Belinda Thompson of Manchester, three Grandchildren, Robert Thompson, III, Meredith Thompson and Jillian Faith Thompson all of Manchester and a great grandson, John Parker Michael, a brother, James Baxter Thompson of Clarksville and a sister, Katheryn Naukam of Alpharetta, GA.

Christine Bailey Thrower, age 92 of Manchester, passed away Sunday at United Regional Nursing Center.

Mrs. Thrower is preceded in death by: Husband William Henry Thrower.
Parents; Charley Bailey and Bertha Mears Bailey.
5 Brothers: Carmon Bailey, Elmus Bailey, Ed Wiley Bailey, Robert Clarence Bailey, and Charles Bailey Jr.
Step-mother Prudie Witty Bailey.

She is survived by: Daughter, Peggy T. Mattox of Manchester.
2 Sisters: Georgia Bryson of Murfreesboro, and Billie Jo Payne of Brentwood, TN.

2 Grandchildren: :Lisa (Craig) Mattox Curry of Ashville Ohio. and Carol (Sam) Mattox Davis of Manchester.

5 Great-Grandsons: Jonathan & Jordan Curry of Ashville Ohio, and Mattox, Samuel and Sean Davis of Manchester.

Interment will follow in Nashville at Spring Hill cemetery at 1:30 P.M.

Johnny Toliver

Johnny R. Toliver, age 65, passed away Friday April 25, 2003 at the Manchester Medical Center. He is preceded in death by his parents: Hollis A. Toliver and Maymie Ruth Parker Toliver, One Brother Charles Lyndon Toliver, One Sister: Shirley McLaughlin.

He is survived by: One son John David Toliver and wife Mary. One Daughter Melinda Toliver Anderson and Husband Wade. One Brother: Harold B Toliver and Wife Loretta, One sister June Johnson.
Grandchildren: Kaiti Kappner, Kaleb Anderson, Kali Toliver, Krysten Toliver, and Kamryn Toliver.

Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

Luther Paul Totten, Sr.

Luther Paul Totten, SR., passed away Friday, Nov. 7, 2003 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center after a sudden illness. He was born December 12, 1933 in Tazwell County, VA the son of Jonah Robert and Gay Nell Hagy Totten.

He served the United States in both the Army and Air Force where he held the rank of PFC in the Army and Basic Airman in the Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, Pattie Totten of Manchester, three sons, Robert (Nickie) Totten of Manchester, Timothy (Donna) Totten of Nappanee, Indiana and Luther Totten, Jr., of Goshen, IN, a daughter, LaBreeska (Mike) Farrell of Manchester 7 grandchildren and a sister, Isabelle Harrison of Harwood Heights, IL.

Bob and Carol Ritter will officiate services and burial will follow at Fredonia cemetery.
