Well known Knoxville businessman and manager of American General Finance Company for 32 years. Preceded in death by father, Elbert Monroe of Lafollette and son, James David of Knoxville.

Wife, Judith (Billie) of Seymour; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Sherrie and granddaughter, Katie Sharp of Huntsville, Alabama; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Mike and granddaughters, Elizabeth and Emily Pollard of Seymour; mother, Mary Lou Sharp of Knoxville; sister, Judy Kirkpatrick of Clinton; brother, Hugh Sharp of Knoxville; and devoted brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Frank and Shirley Weltner of Seymour.

William Allen Nation

Nation, William Allen, infant son of William Henry Nation and Tessa Michelle West, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, July 15, 2003 at U.T. Hospital. Preceded in death by great-grandmother, Doris Lafaye McMahan and uncle, Lawrence Eugene Nation.

Survivors

In addition to parents, he is survived by sisters, Briaunna Marie Nation and Kyleigh Victoria Ann Nation; grandparents, Jannie Davis, Tony West, Dave Davis, Elizabeth West, Robert and Heddie Nation; great-grandparents, Curtis Edward McMahan, Murrell F. West, and Bobbie Jean Brown; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives.

Underwood, Lynn H., age 80, of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord Saturday, October 23, 2004. He was a member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church. Veteran of World War II serving in the US Navy.

Wiseheart, Regina “Rege” Simmons, born November 2, 1928 in Meadville, PA, passed away October 23, 2004 at Asbury Acres Nursing Home in Maryville, TN after a lengthy illness. Remembered as a loving wife and mother. Patient, kind, giving, incredibly funny and “mother” to lots of neighborhood kids. Former substitute teacher and volunteer for Mobile Meals.

Survivors

Survived by husband Oran; daughter Diane and husband Ward; daughter Suzy and husband Bruce; daughter, Linda; and son, Paul; grandchildren: Katy, Allison, and Evan.

Service

Private funeral will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimers Association, 2200 Sutherland Avenue, Suite H-102, Knoxville, TN 37919 or Senior Companions, PO Box 51650, Knoxville, TN 37950. Berry Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Dorothy L. Garlington

Garlington, Dorothy L., age 75, of Knoxville, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2002 at St. Mary's Hospital. She retired from St. Mary's Hospital in 1986. She was preceded in death by husband Norman Garlington and sister Mary Wise.

Son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Michelle Garlington; granddaughter Sydney Garlington; niece Sandra Wise and many other relatives and friends.

Lois Hayes (Rogers) Morris

Morris, Lois Hayes (Rogers), age 80, of Knoxville, died on Wednesday, November 20, 2002 at Baptist Hospital. She was born August 23, 1922 in Knoxville. During World War II she worked as a secretary on the Manhattan Project at Oak Ridge. She later was employed by the Knox County School system. She was a long time member of Meridian Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, Edgar and Alice Hayes.

Survivors

Devoted and loving husband, Glenn H. Morris; daughters and sons-in-law: Sandra and Chick McGeehan, Jeanne and David White, Wanda and Martin Hartley, and Judy Coile; sons and daughters-in-law: Wayne and Joyce Baker, Ed and Connie Morris, Clyde and Gwyn Baker, and Gary and Lisa Morris; brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Sue Hayes; sister and brother-in-law, Nadine and John Rogers; 23 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 4 nephews; 1 niece; and special friends at Holston Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 8:00 p.m. at Meridian Baptist Church, with Rev. Dana Fachman officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Meridian cemetery for interment icon services. Ruth Kent Hill

Hill, Ruth Kent, age 78, of Kingston, formerly of Knoxville, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2002 at Parkwest Hospital. She was a member and pianist of Chevront United Methodist Church in Rockwood and Swan Pond United Methodist Church in Harriman. She worked as a clerk in the Records Division at the Knoxville Police Department and as an administrative assistant in the Purchasing Department at St. Mary's Hospital. She was a volunteer at Roane Medical Center for the last 14 years. Preceded in death by father, Raymond C. Kent, Sr.; mother, Nell C. Kent; and brothers, Raymond C. Kent, Jr., Wallace Edward Kent, and Paul H. Kent.

Husband, Rev. Louis T. Hill of Kingston; sons and daughters-in-law, James A. and Peggy Hill of Pickford, MI, and Michael K. and Sandra Hill of Kingston, TN; grandchildren, Ronald Hill and wife, Samantha of Pickford, MI; Bobby Hill and wife, Regina of Gainesville, FL; and Justin Hill and wife, Melanie of Kingston; brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Joyce Kent of Knoxville; sister-in-law, Evelyn Kent of Knoxville; and special friends, Juanita Larsen and Ellen Croft.

John Delmar Woods

Woods, John Delmar, age 72 of South Knoxville, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2002 at Hillcrest West Nursing Home. He was retired and former co-owner of Smalls Drive-In in Athens, Tennessee. He served in the United States Navy where he was awarded the Good Conduct Korean Service, China Service and United Nations Service Medals. Preceded in death by parents, Delmar and Myrtle Woods and sister, Genell Johnson.

Survivors

Wife of 47 years, Effie Woods; sister, Joyce Allen of Georgia; devoted brothers, Robert "Bill" Woods and wife, Betty of Knoxville and Ron Woods and wife, Lorna of Nashville; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Fields, James A. "Rugged", age 87, of South Knoxville, passed away Friday, November 29, 2002 at UT Hospital. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He retired from Swift Packing Company. Veteran of the US Army having served during World War II.

Survivors

He is survived by loving and adored wife Ruth Anna Fields who he married on July 3, 1940; sons Jerry, Butch, Bobby and Mike; daughters Barbara, Sandy, Kathy, and Ruthie; 19 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; sisters Audrie, Phyllis, and Barbara; several sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, and other relatives and friends.

Service

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 PM at Immanuel Baptist Church with Dr. George Hollander officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Interment icon will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens with full military honors by East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard. Linda Rebecca Cate

Cate, Linda Rebecca, age 94 of Kodak, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2002 at St. Mary's Hospital. She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church, Strawberry Plains. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Howard B. Cate.

Special granddaughter, Shirley Bible and a host of other relatives.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Pollard's cemetery in Kodak, with Rev. Randy Troutman officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandsons. Retired from Carpenters Local #50. He was also known as "Coach Beckner". Preceded in death by parents Roy and Stella Beckner; three brothers and one sister.

Survived by wife of 46 1/2 years, JoAnn "Mamoo" Beckner; daughter, Jennifer B. He was preceded in death by parents, Willie and Nettie Hubbs Anderson; wife, Stella Mae Lawson Anderson; daughter, Jo Fern Haynes, previously of Corryton; daughter, Barbara Riner, previously of New Market; brother, Carson Anderson; and sister, Juanita Anderson Morgan.

Anna Mae Johnson Smith

Smith, Anna Mae Johnson, age 91, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 2, 2002 in San Antonio, Texas. Mrs. Smith was a life long resident of Knox County, except for the last 3 1/2 years. She devoted her life to her family. She loved to cook for family and friends and loved flower gardening inside and out. She graduated from Knoxville High School and was a long time member of Meridian Baptist Church and Bethany Sunday School class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Bruce Smith.

Daughter, Bobbie Smith Love and son-in-law, Bill Love; grandchildren, Sherry Love Beaman and husband, Jeff, Bill Love and wife, Christy, Mike Love and wife, Lisa, Greg Love and wife, Susan; great grandchildren, Shannon and Katie Beaman, Mandy and Allie Love, Benjamin Love and Abby and Caroline Love.
