Carlisle, Gary W. Sr., age 51, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2003 at Baptist Hospital. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a Veteran of the US Army serving in Operation Desert Storm and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was also President of UNITE Union Local 906 2000-2001. Preceded in death by father John Hillary Carlisle; son Bryan Wayne Carlisle.

Wife Wanda Carlisle; daughter Angela and husband Michael Ray Marks; sons Gary Wayne Carlisle, Jr. and John H. Carlisle II; grandchildren Debra and Kassi Marks; mother Minnie Bell Abbott; brothers: William Lee Carlisle, Charles E. Carlisle, and Raymond Abbott; sisters: Bettye L. Abbott and Jean Knight.

Funeral service 10:00 AM Wednesday, Berry Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Steve Dawson officiating. Interment icon will follow at Highland South cemetery. Frank L. Berendy

Berendy, Frank L., age 75, of South Knoxville, formerly of St. Louis, MO, passed away Monday, February 10, 2003 at Baptist Hospital. He was a longtime member of Holy Ghost Church where he served as an usher. He was a real estate developer as well as owner and operator of Mill Fabrics for many years. He served our country during World War II in the Merchant Marines and during the Korean Conflict in the United States Navy Air Corp. Preceded in death by parents, Louis and Maria Berendy and stepmother, Johanna Berendy.

Wife, Lucille Berendy; daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and "Duke" Baker; grandsons, Matthew S. Baker and wife, Brooke, M. Andrew Baker, and Christopher L. Baker; special cousin, Joseph Zimmermann and wife, Florence; brother-in-law, Ralph Schneider and wife, Myrna; and other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Service

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday at Holy Ghost Church with Father Xavier Mankel and Father John O'Neill officiating. Interment icon will be at Sunset Hill cemetery, Edwardsville, IL. Perkins, Edith F., age 87, of South Knoxville, passed away Monday, February 17, 2003 at her home. She was a member of Gap Creek Christian Church. Preceded in death by husband, John C. Perkins; parents, James and Charlotte Finger; and six sisters, Mary, Cynthia, Ann, Joe, Ruth, and Grace.

Daughters, Marilyn and husband, Lawrence Porterfield of Cleveland, Tennessee and Carolyn Payne of Seymour; son, Tom and wife, Sue Perkins of Knoxville; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Goolsby, Joyce Lily, age 80, of South Knoxville, passed away Saturday March 22, 2003 at Hillcrest South Nursing Home. She was a member of Meridian Baptist Church. She was born in Mitchum, Surrey, England. Prior to coming to the United States, she worked for the Ministry of Health. She retired from the University of Tennessee College of Agriculture, Department of Animal Husbandry. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Lily Jenner. She was also preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband Charles Ray Goolsby; and brother Victor Jenner. She loved her family dearly.

Survivors

Loving and devoted daughter Sharon Reagan and husband, Daniel; grandchildren Melissa Nicole and Jason T. Murphy; Michael Scott and Stephany S. Reagan; 3 sisters-in-law: Evelyn Mosley, of Nolensville, TN; Ruby Cox of Valdosta, GA; Rosemary Jenner of Marietta, GA; many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members. She had a great love of beauty, shown in her flowers, crafts, and artwork. She was active in her community serving as a Pink Lady at Baptist Hospital and teaching Sunday School. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Hillcrest South Nursing Home for their care and compassion.

St. John, Kathy, age 43, formerly of South Knoxville, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2003. Kathy accepted Christ as her Savior in her late 20's and was baptized and became a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She will be sadly missed by her loving family and a host of friends.

Karbach, Laura "Tootsie" Viola Dillingham - age 65, of Knoxville, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2003 at St. Mary's Residential Hospice. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church in Seymour. She found comfort in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18, "For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words." She was retired from Levi Strauss in Powell. Preceded in death by parents, John and Nora Mae Headrick.

A loving mother who left behind sons, Rick and wife, Kelly Dillingham of Nashville, David and wife, Beth Dillingham of Knoxville; daughters, Julie and husband, Earl Richey of Knoxville, Sherry Hamrick of Ashtabula, Ohio; grandchildren, Rick Jr., Kristy, Daniel, Matthew, John-Michael, Jennifer, Alicia, Brandon, Alex, Keisha, Chris, Johnathan, Robert, and Joshua; step-grandchildren, Julie and Allen; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Lily, William, and Chloe; brothers, Sonny Headrick, Bill Headrick, and David Headrick; sister, Louise Goff; and special friends, George and Euida Shular.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway, with funeral service to follow with Brother Stoffel and Pastor David Headrick officiating. Retired from Norwood Florist after many years of service. She is preceded in death by parents, Richard Andrew Hall Cox and Lillie B. "Granny" Cox; brothers Cecil and Howard Cox; nephew Bill C. Cox.

She was of the Baptist faith. Attended Murray State University. She was employed for many years as a secretary for Health Promotions at Tennessee Regional Department of Health. Preceded in death by parents, Curtis and Rubye Hubbs; brother, Jimmy Hubbs, and son, Scott Shehorn.
