Shepherd, Mary Ruth –age 71, of South Knoxville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 11, 2006 at Rockcastle Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Kentucky. She was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Preceded in death by husband, Robert Shepherd and son, Michael Anthony.

Funeral service will be held 8 PM on Saturday, Berry Chapel. Family and friends will meet at New Gray cemetery on Sunday for 1 PM graveside services. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Friday and from 6-8 PM on Saturday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.

Williams, Lillian Horner Burdine, age 81 of Knoxville, formerly of Lafayette, Georgia, passed away April 26, 2003 at NHC Ft. Sanders. Preceded in death by husbands, Earl A. Burdine and Eugene Williams; son, Dennis Ross Burdine; parents, Ross and Ella Horner; 3 sisters and 1 brother.

Daughter and son-in-law, Rosemary and Troy Stroud; daughters Sharon Rudder and Cindy Burdine; grandchildren: Michael Presley, Todd Cook, Aaron Burdine, Edie Wadsworth, Gina Williams, Matt Stroud; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

McKinley Ridenour

McKINLEY, H. RIDENOUR, age 81, of Knoxville, born March 24, 1922, passed away April 27, 2003 at his home. Preceded in death by both parents, daughter, Sue Judd. U.S. Army Veteran World War II. Member D.A.V. Chapter #24.

Survived by wife, Ruby; daughter, Brianna Ridenour; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Sharon Moore, Larry and Debbie Moore, Steve and Colletta Moore; son-in-law, Bill Judd; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Gerry Lee; niece, Pat Wright.
Mr. Ridenour was loved by all who knew him.

Joyce Lily Goolsby

Goolsby, Joyce Lily, age 80, of South Knoxville, passed away Saturday March 22, 2003 at Hillcrest South Nursing Home. She was a member of Meridian Baptist Church. She was born in Mitchum, Surrey, England. Prior to coming to the United States, she worked for the Ministry of Health. She retired from the University of Tennessee College of Agriculture, Department of Animal Husbandry. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Lily Jenner. She was also preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband Charles Ray Goolsby; and brother Victor Jenner. She loved her family dearly.

Loving and devoted daughter Sharon Reagan and husband, Daniel; grandchildren Melissa Nicole and Jason T. Murphy; Michael Scott and Stephany S. Reagan; 3 sisters-in-law: Evelyn Mosley, of Nolensville, TN; Ruby Cox of Valdosta, GA; Rosemary Jenner of Marietta, GA; many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members. She had a great love of beauty, shown in her flowers, crafts, and artwork. She was active in her community serving as a Pink Lady at Baptist Hospital and teaching Sunday School. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Hillcrest South Nursing Home for their care and compassion.

Sayne, Frank G., age 88, of South Knoxville, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2004 at Baptist Hospital. Frank was a life long resident of South Knoxville and a member of New Salem Methodist Church. He retired from Cherokee Textile Mills with 35 years of service.

DICKERSON, RUTH SCHAPER, of Taylors, S.C., formerly of Knoxville, Tennessee, and widow of The Rev. Dr. Robert V. Dickerson, died Friday, February 21, 2003. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late William and Corrine Endres Schaperkotter. Mrs. Dickerson was a homemaker, a member of Knoxville Bible Presbyterian Church and an avid supporter of Christian missions around the world.

Survivors

Surviving are two daughters, Beth Fisher of Taylors and Debby Gross of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; a son, Bill Dickerson of St. Louis, Missouri; and 18 grandchildren.

Service

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 25 at 3:00 P.M. at the Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel of Berry Funeral Home in Knoxville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Layne, Margaret Jamborsky, age 88, of South Knoxville, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2002 at Ft. Sanders Hospital. Member of First Baptist Church, Concord. She worked for Huber and Huber Motor Express for 24 years and retired from Roadway Express in 1979. Graduated from Knoxville High School in 1932. Preceded in death by father, Julius Jamborsky; mother, Margaret Jamborsky; sister, Theresa Jamborsky Perry; brothers, Andrew, Julius, and William Jamborsky.

Richard E. Browning

Browning, Richard E., age 53, beloved son, husband, father, and grandfather passed away Friday, October 18, 2002 at 10:07 p.m. at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital. He was born on May 6, 1949. He was an active member and deacon at New Hopewell Baptist Church. After working many years for AT&T, he left to open his own business, WRT Hydraulics.

Annie Elizabeth Ghormley

Ghormley, Annie Elizabeth, age 101, a retired school teacher, died Friday, January 18, 2002, in Pleasant View Home, Inman, Kansas. Annie was born January 7, 1901, to Augustus and Elvina Neubert in Neubert Springs, Tennessee. She graduated from the University of Tennessee and received a Masters Degree in Education from Columbia University in New York. She taught in Elementary and High Schools in both Tennessee and Kansas. It was while teaching school in Knoxville that she met Leo Otis Ghormley. They were married in the Little Church Around the Corner in New York City August 18, 1928. The Depression drove her husband Leo out of teaching at the University of Tennessee and into farming near Partridge, Kansas. In Kansas, she raised five children and returned to teaching when the children left home. When her son took over the farm, she and her husband moved back to Knoxville where she taught school until she retired in her 70’s. Leo died April 12, 1980 and she continued to live in Tennessee until the early 1990’s when she moved back to Kansas to live with her eldest son in South Hutchison. She entered the Pleasant View Home in the Spring of 2000.

Survivors

Annie is survived by her children, Barbara Lou Ghormley-Appleby of Littleton, Colorado; Harold Eugene Ghormley of Partridge, Kansas; David Augustus Ghormley of Knoxville, Tennessee; Margaret Ann Ghormley-Lee of Homewood, Alabama; and Martha Ruth Ghormley-Singh of Calgary, AB, Canada. She also leaves twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
