Loving and devoted husband of 58 years, Clyde Bell, Sr.; daughter, Brenda Shumate; son and caregiver, CJ Bell; grandson, Daniel Bell; great-grandchild, Shealee Bell; sisters, Lydia Beeler, Bessie Hope, and Marie Parris; brothers, Jay Will Settle, Clifford Settle, and Claude Settle. WOOD, TRAVIS age 25 of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord on July 19, 2004 at Baptist Hospital. Member of Vision Outreach Ministries of Powell. Travis will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. Travis is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Charlie Wood, Sr.

Survived by son Caleb Austin Wayne Wood, parents: Charlie and Kim Houser Wood, brothers: Joseph and Tommy Wood, grandparents: Ken and Pat Houser and Elizabeth Wood. Great grandmother Margaret Houser. Several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Travis is also survived by his former wife and mother of his son, Melissa.

Haws, Mary Evelyn, age 80, of Farragut, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2003 at Parkwest Hospital. Active member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Farragut. She was one of the founding members and held several positions in the Friendship Force, Knoxville Chapter. Mary Evelyn enjoyed playing bridge with her friends; extensive traveling around the world; walking; playing and watching golf; and riding her bicycle. She loved living on the lake with her husband of almost 60 years, Claude C. Haws, Jr. Preceded in death by son, Kevin A. Haws and her many sisters and brothers.

Husband of almost 60 years, Claude C. Haws, Jr; sons: Carter Haws, M.D. and wife Kristi of Johnson City, TN; Thomas Haws D.D.S. and wife Janet of Knoxville; Lewis Haws of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren.

Preceded in death by parents, Jacob Dexter and Katie Owens French; husband, Henry R. Noe; sister, Mae Goddard; brother, Jake French.

Preceded in death by husband Willard Maples; daughter Nancy Carol Lawrence; parents Addie French Hilton and Albert Ross Hilton Sr.; sisters Ella Williams and Wanda Allen; grandson Wayne Maples.

William Alex Cooper
5/8/2006

Cooper, William Alex –age 82, of South Knoxville, passed away Monday, May 08, 2006 at UT Hospital following a battle with multiple illnesses. A loving husband, father and grandfather, with many loyal friends, he was a member of Vestal United Methodist Church; the First Families of Tennessee (Stonecifer Line); and the U.S.S. Lovelace Family Association of which he was a co-founder. Bill retired from Swans Bakery (Oak Ridge route) in 1982 with 35 years of service. He was a World War II veteran, drafted on his 18th birthday, serving in the US Navy on the U.S.S. Lovelace DE198 in the Pacific Theater where he earned numerous medals and commendations. Bill was born in Line Fork, Kentucky, May 19, 1924, the fourth child of Oscar and Gertrude Jennings Cooper. Preceded by his parents, precious son, William David (Little Bill), beloved sister, Glendyn Herrell, and brother, Robert Oscar Cooper.

Survived by loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Freda Watson Cooper; sons, Philip and Perry Cooper; daughter and son-in-law, Rosemary and Mike Garland; cherished four year old grandson, Brock Cooper Garland; sister, Dorothy Manning; sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor and Carl Dew of Lake City; nieces and nephews, John Herrell, Martha Johnson, Sherry Johnson, David and Becky Dew of Lake City, Carolyn and Courtney Pearre of Nashville, Edward Dew of New York, Lynn Cooper Watts and Robert Cooper of Johnson City, and William Jennings Cooper of Phoenix, Arizona. Special thanks for the prayers, support and care from family, friends, neighbors and hospital staff.

Jack Goodlin

Goodlin, Jack Bryan age 82 of Knoxville, passed away Saturday March 6, 2004 at St. Mary’s Hospital. Mr. Goodlin was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a veteran of WWII. Mr. Goodlin accepted Christ at an early age, and was a member of Southside Baptist Church, where he enjoyed fellowshipping with his Sunday school class; The Harvesters. Survived by his loving wife of 50 years; Jane Anne Goodlin

Brother; Wayne Goodlin and a special sister-in-law Viola Watson.

Funeral services will be held Monday March 8, at 8 P.M. at the Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel with Reverend Clarence Gresham and Reverend John Jackson officiating. Family and friends will meet at Lynnhurst cemetery on Tuesday for a 2 P.M. graveside service, military Honors will be provided by Volunteer State Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be; Patrick Watson, Timothy Watson, Bill S. McMahan, Mark Blevins, Charles Underwood and A.J. Green The family will receive friends on Monday from 6 to 8 P.M. before the service. . Daniel Robert Gibson

Gibson, Daniel Robert, age 84, of New Market, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 7, 2004 at Jefferson County Nursing Home. He was born on August 24, 1919 to Robert Edney and Fannie Blanton Gibson. He lived in Knox County for 76 years and was a member and deacon of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He was a retired machinist from ALCOA, Tennessee Operations. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Dorothy Ballinger Gibson; brothers, Wilburn, Ralph, Goldman and R.E. Gibson, Jr. and sisters, Carrie McGahey, Viola Jones, Emma Reagan and Cumi Gibson.

Survivors

Son, Martin Daniel Gibson, and wife, Tonya of Crossville; daughter, Donna Davis and husband, Gary of New Market; sister, Nettie Hilbun of Youngstown, Ohio. He leaves three grandsons: Jeffrey Davis of Front Royal, Virginia; Kevin Davis of Chicago, Illinois; Daniel Justin Gibson of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; loving sisters-in-law, Phyllis Reed and Wanda Dalton; brother-in-law, Don McGahey of Rockville, Maryland; 14 nephews and 14 nieces.

Attended Norview High School and lived in the Five Points area of Norfolk, VA and moved to Knoxville in 1968. She was of the Methodist faith. Preceded in death by husband, Philip Glenn Deane; parents, William H. and Dorothy Keeton. She enjoyed art, painting and lived life the fullest upon her own terms.
