Funeral services will be Thursday, June 3, at 8 pm Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel with Rev. Barry Culberson officiating. Sara Storud Hobby

Hobby, Sara Stroud, age 63, President of Hobby Industries, Inc. of Knoxville, entered into Heaven at 12:59 AM Monday, June 28, 2004 from the Intensive Care Unit at the University of Tennessee Hospital. It is very important to mention how strong Sara has been through her battle with esophageal cancer since her diagnosis on October 12, 2000. With each medical crisis since then and up until the end, we have watched our loving mother and wife rely on her faith to see her through each trial. Her faith, courage and positive attitude have been benchmarks for all who knew her. Sara was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in South Knoxville for 56 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, W.J. and Blanche Stroud.

Survivors

Survivors include husband, Harold Hobby; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy Hobby Ammons and Martin Ammons; daughter, Dr. Jill Hobby; brother and sister-in-law, Jennings and Frankie Stroud; a very precious person Aunt Lillian Stroud of Ellenboro, North Carolina; extended family, Khen Huynh; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Service

The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 PM Thursday evening at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 2500 Old Maryville Pike, Knoxville, Tennessee 37920. Funeral service will immediately follow beginning at 7:30 PM in the Mt. Olive Main Auditorium with Dr. Doug White, Rev. Deron Cobb and Rev. Gary Armstrong officiating. Sara will be laid to rest along side other family members at the Big Springs Baptist Church Cemetery icon Friday at 1:00 PM in Ellenboro, North Carolina following a brief service in the church sanctuary. Pallbearers will be Doug Stroud, Dusty Stroud, Joey Stroud, Lanny Stroud, Larry Stroud, Rusty Stroud, Scott Stroud, and Steve Stroud. Memorials may be made to the Special Friends at Mt. Olive Baptist Church.

Nellie Mae Clark

Clark, Nellie Mae “Rose” –age 76, of Knoxville, joined our Lord in Heaven on Tuesday, June 29, 2004. She was a good mother, grandmother, and faithful friend.

She is survived by her loving children, baby daughter, Marie “Clark” Harris; mother of William “Billy” Harris; son, Ivan “Big Scottie” Wheeler, husband of Sandy and father to “Little Scottie”, Rachel, April, and grandfather of Caleb; son, Luther Wayne Dockery, husband to Peggy and father to Richard and Marie; brother-in-law, Carl Nichols and many nieces and nephews.

Greene, Raymond W., age 73 of West Knoxville passed away Sunday August 15, 2004 at his home. He was a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church. He had a distinguished career with Rice Oldsmobile with 42 years of service. Preceded in death by parents, Robert and Stella Greene; wife, Betty Scruggs Greene; son, Rick Greene and brother, Bobby Greene.

John Franklin (Jack) Butler
11/14/2003

Butler, John Franklin (Jack), passed on to our Lord on November 14, 2003 in Maryville. He was born icon in Warren, Ohio on November 29, 1917. He married Irene Kant on July 17, 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio. They enjoyed 60 wonderful years together. He served with the First Marine Division during the Second World War in the Pacific from September 1943 until March 1946. He was a tank maintenance crewman, and was injured during the war. He was disabled for several years.

Survivors

Wife, Irene; his son and daughter -in-law, Dr. Kenneth and Elaine Kant; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews in several states.

Service

Visitation will be at 10:00 AM Monday at Our Lady Of Fatima Church in Alcoa. Mass will follow at 11:00 AM with interment icon at Sherwood Memorial Gardens following the Mass. Arrangements by Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.

Ralph Wheeler

WHEELER, RALPH EDWARD, SR., age 74, of Heiskell, TN went home to be with the Lord on August 25, 2004. He was a man of God, who loved his Lord, country and family. He was a member of the Joyce Avenue Wesleyan Methodist Church. He worked for 30 years at Rohm & Haas, retiring in 1993. He also served as president of the Atomic and Smoky Mountain Beagle Clubs. He served in the 82nd Airborne from 1951 to 1953.

Survivors

Ralph was a great and wonderful husband, father and grandpa. He married Clara Jean Suggitt May 25, 1952. He is survived by his wife, three daughters and four sons: Howard and Barbara Russell of Doylestown, OH, Ernest and Clara Martin, Dan and Lisabeth Hutchins of Knoxville, TN, Ralph, Jr. and Brenda Wheeler of Kirksville, MO, Fred and Sharon Wheeler of Matthews, NC, Garry and Carol Wheeler of Overland Park, KS, and Larry and Carrie Wheeler of Greeneville, SC; sixteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The family would like to extend special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of St. Mary’s Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospice. Thank you to our friends for all your prayers, cards and visits. Also survived by brothers Claude III and Chase; grandparents, Sheila Rogers and Linda and Doug Leek; many uncles, aunts, and cousins. Cheyenne will be missed by all.
