SHELTON, JOHN SCOTT age 86 of Powell went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at Hillcrest North. He was of Baptist Faith. Mr. Shelton was a Journeyman Pipefitter with Local 102 for nearly 60 years. Fishing and gardening were two of his favorite hobbies. He is preceded in death by first wife, Josephine Shelton and brother, Robert Shelton.

Survived by second wife, Virginia Shelton; sons and daughters-in-law, John Wayne and Vicki Shelton, Bobby and Donna Shelton; daughters and sons-in-law, Celia and Ernie Tracy, Debbie and Steve Sanders; stepdaughter, Linda and husband, Jerry Gregg, Sharon Mullinix; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Mary Frances Payne; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Shelton.

Martha Katherine Stinnett Cupp

Cupp, Martha Katherine Stinnett, age 89, our precious mother, went home to be with the Lord on July 3, 2004 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and the Young at Heart Club. Preceded in death by husband, Charles L. Cupp and two infant sons; mother and father Louis and Kate Stinnett; three sisters and three brothers.

Survivors

Sons, William (Sammie) Cupp, Bobby (Virginia) Cupp, Donald Cupp and fiancée Lois Harrell; daughter, Ruth (Carroll) Ailshie; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and one on the way and two great-great grandchildren; sister Helen Owens; many nieces and nephews; former daughters-in-law, Nancy Caldwell and Imogene Moore whom she loved very much and her very special friend at Asbury Health Center, Nellie Stevens. To our mom and grandmother, we love you and miss you but by the grace of God, we will see you and Dad again when this life is over.

Goodlin, Jack Bryan, age 82, of Knoxville, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2004 at St. Mary’s Hospital. Mr. Goodlin was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a veteran of WWII. Mr. Goodlin accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Southside Baptist Church where he enjoyed fellowshipping with his Sunday School Class, The Harvesters. Colonel George L. Hannah

Hannah, Colonel George L., Jr., a much decorated Air Force pilot has made his final approach to Heaven's gate. During his thirty years of service he lived in nine foreign countries, circled the globe seven times, and logged over 9,000 pilot hours in fourteen different types of aircraft. He served his country in World War II, the Korean War and then in Vietnam. His renditions of his many adventures as well as his wit and charm will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. Colonel Hannah was preceded in death by the late Hope Justice Hannah, his wife of 52 years; parents, George and Minnie; brothers, Hobart and Ben; sisters, Elizabeth, Neva, Bess, Tomy, Hazel and Thelma; and daughter-in-law, Karen.

His wife and love for the last ten years, Nita; son, George L. Hannah, III and wife, Susan; daughter, Burma Jo Poston and husband, Patrick; step-daughter and friend, Beverly Byars; step-son, Russ Noe; niece, Catherine Hutchins and husband, Bob; sister-in-law, Elise Hannah; grandchildren: Carter, Vikki, Jan, Lori and husband, Jim, Bart, Steve and Ron; great-grandchildren: Tristin, Samantha, Hannah, Catherine, and Courtney; special friends: Dorsey Lou and Charles Woliver, Don and Jane Fezzel, Mary Lou and Ed Griffin, Jerry and Jim Elliott, and many more too numerous to name in Knoxville, Townsend, and Naples Florida.

Bohanan, Richard Earl, Sr., age 69, of South Knoxville, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2004 at Baptist Hospital. Retired from SSC Service Solutions after many years of service. Veteran of United States Army. Preceded in death by wife Shirley A. Bohanan; parents Kate and Claude Bohanan.

Mary Ammons

AMMONS, MARY McGINLEY, joined her heavenly Father on November 11, 2003. She was born icon on May 6, 1932 to John and Callie Ballard McGinley; born icon into the kingdom of God in December, 1944. She was a member of Gayland Heights Baptist Church for over 30 years, North Knoxville Baptist Church for 10 years, and a charter member of Cornerstone Fellowship until her passing. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Carl and Clarence.

Wood, Ruth Morton, born icon August 21, 1907 in Martel, TN, died September 29, 2002 at Hillcrest South Nursing Home. She attended Lenoir City High School, Maryville College, and graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1928. She retired in 1977 from teaching Biology for 25 years at Pennsauken High School in New Jersey. She had taught most of her life in several states including Tennessee. She had been a member of Martel Methodist Church, Lenoir City, TN, Asbury Methodist Church, Cinnaminson, NJ and was at the time of her death a member of Colonial Heights United Methodist Church, Knoxville. She was a past vice-president of Mount Vista Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Houston and Georgia Mahaffey Morton; brother Victor; and husband Donald S. Wood.

Survivors

Son, Alan, and his wife Patricia of Knoxville, TN, their sons Kenneth, Donald, and Jeffrey, and daughter Jennifer; son Gerald, and his wife Judith of Springhill, LA and their two daughters, Annmarie and Michelle; 8 great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives. Our thanks to the staff and personnel at Hillcrest South Nursing Home for all their efforts.
