Knight, Johnny Eugene, age 65, of South Knoxville, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2004 at his home. He was of the Baptist faith and a veteran of the United States Navy. Preceded in death by parents, Harley E. and Sarah Rogers Knight.

Rinda Burnett Sliger

Sliger, Rinda Burnett, passed away October 23, 2003 after several months of illness. She graduated from Knoxville High School in 1940 and attended the University of Tennessee. She retired from TVA with 28 years service. Member of First Baptist Church of Knoxville where she taught Sunday School and sang in the Choir for many years. Preceded in death by parents, Walter S. Burnett, Sr. and Grace Haynes Burnett; brothers: Walter S. Burnett, Jr. and Alfred S. Burnett; sister Helene Burnett.

Survivors

Husband, Ira T. Sliger, Jr; son Michael B. Jones; brother Jonathon H. Burnett; several nieces and nephews.

Service

Family and friends will gather at Woodlawn Cemetery icon Saturday at 10:00 AM for graveside services. She was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church and Laureate Upsilon Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. Retired from Travelers Insurance Company after 10 years of service. Preceded in death by parents, William Ernest and Dorothy Stokes Sliger, both of Knoxville, and brother, Charles W. Sliger.

Survivors

Brother, Philip R. Sliger and wife, Linda of Desert Hot Springs, California; several nieces; and special friend, Almeda Partain.

WILLIAMS, ROBERT “ROB” CHARLES, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2003 at St. Mary’s Hospice. He attended Vista High School in Vista California. He was the 1992 Tennessee State Champion in Wado Rue Karate in his weight class.

Survived by daughter, Robyn and son Nick; parents, John and Carolyn Estes; mother and father-in-law, Wade and Betty Jones; brother, Gary Wheeler of Goshen, IN.;sister, Linda Umbarger of Vista, CA.; caregiver, and best friend Mark Demarcus.

Margaret Burchfiel Montgomery

Montgomery, Margaret Burchfiel –age 85, passed away on Wednesday, September 01, 2004. Born in Sevierville, June 2, 1919 to William W. and Gertrude Patterson Burchfiel, Margaret attended Sevier County High School and graduated from UT, Knoxville. She was an educator, first teaching in a 2 room school with a potbellied stove in Sevier County, then teaching at Pi Beta Phi Settlement School in Gatlinburg from 1941-1942. One of the original Oak Ridge School System teachers, she taught in Oak Ridge from 1942-1949. She joined her family’s Sevierville business Burchfiel Insurance Agency where she worked as an agent until 1972. In 1942, Margaret married Walter Lee Montgomery and they moved to Knoxville. She was a member of the First Families of Tennessee; a devoted member of Ossoli Circle (Knoxville) since 1950, where she served as President 1974-1975, and historian for years. An active and faithful member of West Hills Presbyterian Church, PCA, Margaret held numerous offices in the Women in the Church. She loved the Smoky Mountains and hiked most of its trails. Preceded in death by beloved husband, Walter; parents, William and Gertrude Burchfiel; and brother, William Wesley Burchfiel, Jr.

Margaret is survived by special loving cousins, Maythel Miller, Nashville; Paula Patterson, Louisville, Tennessee; Jack and Elizabeth Denton, Eddie and Pauletta Wey, all of Sevierville; Margaret and Richard Bell, Knoxville; brother-in-law, Bryant Smith Montgomery, Nashville; nieces and nephews, Dr. Marsha Montgomery, Nashville; Dr. Michael Montgomery, Columbia, SC; Karen Montgomery Atchley, Knoxville; David Montgomery; Deerfield, Illinois; also many loving and faithful friends.

Service

Margaret requested that gifts be made to Reformed Theological Seminary to the Walter and Margaret Montgomery Scholarship Fund, 5422 Clinton Boulevard, Jackson, Mississippi 39209 or to West Hills Presbyterian Church, 7600 Bennington Drive Knoxville, TN 37909. A 3 PM memorial service Tuesday, September 7 will be held at West Hills Presbyterian Church PCA, 7600 Bennington Dr. Knoxville with the Rev. Scott V. Horne officiating. Davenport, Anna Ruth Smith, age 85, of South Knoxville, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2002 at Hillcrest South Nursing Home. She was a member of Hillcrest United Methodist Church. Retired from the University of Tennessee. Served as a Pink Lady at Baptist Hospital. Preceded in death by husband, J. Cal Davenport.

Son Tommy and wife, Jenny Davenport; step-daughter, Wilma Brown; grandchildren: Kim and husband, David Stallings; Brad and wife, Sandy Davenport; Jill and husband, Donnie Day; great-grandchildren: Brett, Derek, Drew, Devin and Dawson; sister, Ethel Price; numerous friends and other relatives.

Mrs. Rouser was a former employee of Hurley and Associates and long-time member of Bell Avenue Baptist Church, now Chilhowee Hills. She was preceded in death by husband, Howard Eugene Rouser; parents, William Davis and Carrie Templin Lynch; 4 sisters and 2 brothers

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton O. Martin and brother, Dr. Walter A. Bell.
