MILLS, NORMA JUNE HEADRICK, age 62, of Corryton, TN, passed away Monday, February 23, 2004, at home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was a member of Mouth of Richland Baptist Church and a cafeteria supervisor at U.T. Hospital. Preceded in death by parents; Sam Sr. and Erma Headrick.

Survivors

Survived by; husband Herbert (Bud); sons; Ted, Michael, and Darrell; brothers; Bob, Bill, Sam Jr., and Allen Headrick; sister; Barbara Bias; six grandchildren. Special thanks to her church family, her U.T. Hospital cafeteria co-workers, and supervisor, Susan Whitaker for their love and compassion during her illness. Pallbearers will be nephews.

The family will receive friends 6-8 pm, Thursday, February 26, at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel with funeral services to follow at 8 pm in the chapel. Rev. R.C. Harless and Rev. Ben Kinney officiating. Chambers, Margie Lee Coffey, passed away at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center Monday, February 23, 2004. She was born icon July 25, 1919 in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was retired from Robertshaw Fulton Credit Union and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Jean Sands Coffey and her beloved husband Woodrow O. Chambers, son of W. H. Chambers and Ester Renneau Chambers. She was also preceded in death by sisters Nora Hensley of Knoxville and Edith Williams of Atlanta and a brother Shelley Coffeey killed in World War II.

Survivors

Sister Etta Jones of Knoxville; two daughters: Linda Gail Chambers of Columbus, Ohio and Brenda C. Carter and husband Thomas Lee Carter of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was the grandmother of Thomas C. Carter of New York and Gina (and husband Jeff) Kroner of Oakley, California and the great-grandmother of Noah Aaron and Ethan Liam Kroner of Oakley, California. She was blessed and is survived by compassionate caregivers Joanna, Angie, Diane, Trenia, Patsy, Terry, and Linda.

Service

The extended family will meet at Berry Funeral Home the evening of Thursday, February 26 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM for viewing and celebration. Veteran of the US Navy, WWII, having served in the South Pacific and Philippines on the USS O’Bannon. Robert K. Francis

Frances, Robert K., of Knoxville, TN, was born icon May 4, 1922, and left this life on March 13, 2002. He was a long time member of South Knoxville Baptist Church. Retired from Oak Ridge National Laboratory after 41 years as a Senior Designer. He was a Private First Class in the 103rd Infantry Division of the US Army in World War II. Awarded the Purple Heart & Bronze Star. Preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Shelton Francis.

Four sons & daughters-in-law: Chris & Linda, Jay & Judy Lynn, Noel & Beth, and Kelvin & Betty; eight grandchildren: Jonathan, Emily Withrow, Matthew, Benjamin, Laura, Daniel, Samuel, & Philip, step grandchildren: Kimberly Owenby and Michelle Thomas; great-grandchildren Jacob, Ethan, & Hunter. Graveside service will be at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday March 6, 2002 at Highland South Cemetery. A memorial service will be held Friday at 3:00 p.m. at Lake Hills Presbyterian with Rev. James McTyre officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at Lake Hills Presbyterian. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department in Mrs. Dyers name. Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway is in charge of arrangements.

Dan Kraushaar
11/18/2004

Kraushaar, Dan, educator, author, pilot, musician, and craftsman, age 66, died at home on November 18, 2004 after battling an asbestos related cancer called mesothelioma. He was proud of his family, the associations to which he belonged, and the many friends he made in all facets of life. His BS and MS degrees were earned at the University of Tennessee. He managed the design, installation, and training for the Knox County School’s Student Information and School Accounting Systems. As a self-taught programmer, he wrote software which directed the small Apple Computer to drive optical scanners and score test papers and provide analysis for the Knoxville City School System. As a member of Governor Lamar Alexander’s Computer Skills Next state-wide team he taught other educators. He was co-director of a mathematics curriculum project creating a high school course which helped previously unsuccessful students to meet the state math standards required for graduation. He belonged to the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and was a speaker for many regional and national conventions. He taught mathematics and computer science at East High School, Austin-East High School, Holston High School, and Bearden High School. He enjoyed retirement from the Knox County School system by keeping books for the East Tennessee Pilot’s Club where he had been a member for many years and during which he held all elective offices; flying his Bonanza; playing his piano; and writing a humorous book (The Sky Ranch Flying Society) about these silly old men buying an island for their airplanes. He was a member of AOPA and the American Bonanza Society. He was most proud of his forty-year-membership in the Experimental Aircraft Association where he gave airplane rides to nearly 200 youngsters in the EAA sponsored Young Eagles Program. As a published author he was a member of The Writer’s Group and former member of The Writer’s Guild. As a professional piano player he was proud to be a card carrying member of The Knoxville Musicians Association and enjoyed playing at the Knox County Retired Teachers Association meetings. His first paying jobs as a musician started when he was fourteen, playing trumpet in the Princeton, WV jazz band, and he had stayed in close touch with several members of that group until his death. As a member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild and former member of the Foothills Craft Guild, Dan designed and produced quality wooden toys and puzzles using the name Red Wagon Crafts. Preceeded in death by his mother and father Rose Lee Edmonds Kraushaar and Wilfred Paul (Buck) Kraushaar.

Loving wife Sharon Crisp Kraushaar; son and daughter-in-law Wilfred Paul II and Peggy Kraushaar; grandchildren: Sean and Glenn Howard and Daniel Edmond Kraushaar II; sister-in-law, Diana Lopez; and his many friends at the Sky Ranch and elsewhere.

A celebration of life will take place at the Sky Ranch, 3535 Alcoa Highway at 1:00 PM Sunday, November 28, 2004. Hammock, Gladys G., age 89, of Knoxville, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2004 at her home. She was of the Baptist faith. Preceded in death by daughter, Doris Henderlight; grandsons, Ronnie Elliott and Jackie Hammock II and son-in-law, Raymond Costner.

Daughters, Phyllis Costner of Georgia, Sue and husband, Guane Jullian of Kodak; son, Jackie and wife, Darlene Hammock of Knoxville; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

INEZ ELIZABETH BALES, age 74 of Knoxville, died Monday, November 29, 2004 at Colonial Hills Nursing Center. She was a member of Ridgedale Baptist Church in Knoxville. She was employed for many years as a waitress with Quarterback Restaurant and Shoney’s in Knoxville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin E. Bales, son Paul W. Bales, her parents Orville L. Perry and Naomi Ruth Perry, brother Henry A. Perry.

Survivors

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-laws Brenda and Alfred Tullock, Sharon and Thomas Blackwell, son and daughter-in-laws Steve and Martha Bales, Rick and Brenda Bales, Donald and Betty Bales, and daughter-in-law Bobbie Bales; brothers John Perry and Willis Perry; sisters; Mary Strong and Helen Humpreys; grandchildren Charles Tullock, Michael Tullock, Allen Blackwell, Kimberly Blackwell, Michael Bales, Brenda Andrews, David Bales, Amanda Hager, and Daniel Costner; great grandchildren Austin Tullock, Deana Guider, Tristan Blackwell, Brendan Flynn, Justin Hager, Isabella Costner, Christine Andrews, Shawn Andrews, and Jordan Bales,as well as many nieces and nephews. Inez will be deeply loved and missed by her dear friend Connie Staples, beloved friends at Colonial Hills Nursing Center, and all that knew her.
