George Washington Widby, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2006 at Brakebill Health Care Center. “Papa” was a loving and devoted husband and father and would have celebrated his 85th birthday on February 22. He was a kind, sincere and devoted Christian man whose smiling face brought joy to all those who knew him and will always live in the hearts of those who loved him. He attended Arlington Baptist Church for 45 years where he served as a deacon and was a member of the Victory Sunday School class. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, and retired after 20 years at Union Carbide in Oak Ridge. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. Preceded in death by his parents Calvin and Nora Widby, four brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years Louise Wilson Widby; one brother, Albert Widby; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Patrick Cummins; son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Debbie Widby of Wichita Falls, TX; grandsons and wives, Randy and Kathy Cummins of Louisville, KY, Alan and Kathy Cummins of Knoxville, Scott Widby of McKinney, TX, Craig Widby of Chicago, IL; great grandchildren, Chase Cummins, Blakely Cummins, Averi Cummins, Rachel Cummins, Ian Cummins, and Aidan Widby; And several nieces and nephews. Mugford, Trula Cupp DuBan – 79 of Knoxville, Tennessee, died February 3, 2006 at the Baptist Hospital from complications of a stroke that occurred in the early hours February 1, 2006. She was a local Real Estate Broker and business owner of Mugford Real Estate and Mugford Pharmacy in South Knoxville. Mrs. Mugford was a member of Church Street United Methodist Church. Her activities in the community included The Boys / Girls Club Board of Directors, The Sertoma Club, Vice Chair to the Knox County Republican Executive Committee, Chair person for the Bonny Kate Doyle Republican Executive Committee, monthly meetings with the Young High School Class of 1944, and The Doyle Area Home Owners Association. Trula was a member of the Knox Association of Realtors, State, and National Board of Realtors, and in the past, Local and State President of Auxiliary to the Tennessee Pharmaceutical Association.

Trula was the loving wife of deceased Harold James Mugford RPH, PHD and mother of six surviving children: John A. DuBan, wife Lennis Martin DuBan, Mike A. Lyle, Betty Jane Long –died on Sunday, May 7, 2006 at St. Mary’s Hospital after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She was 77. A lifelong resident of South Knoxville, Mrs. Lyle was a member of the Board of Directors of Woodlawn Cemetery
for 18 years. She also worked for many years as the principal secretary at Doyle High School. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Lyle, former Conductor of the Knoxville Choral Society and Supervisor of Music for Knox County Schools, and by her parents, Luther and Verna Long.

She is survived by her children: Linda Lyle and Kerry Roehr, Ben and Carla Lyle, and Steve and Tammy Lyle, all of Knoxville; grandchildren: Madison Lyleroehr, Lindsey Lyle, Rhett Lyle, Zoee Lyle and Dylan Lyle; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Earl and Joyce Whaley of Liberty, Missouri; sisters-in-law: Betty Lawson Lyle and Leota Goforth Lyle and a host of family and friends.

Cooper, William Alex –age 82, of South Knoxville, passed away Monday, May 08, 2006 at UT Hospital following a battle with multiple illnesses. A loving husband, father and grandfather, with many loyal friends, he was a member of Vestal United Methodist Church; the First Families of Tennessee (Stonecifer Line); and the U.S.S. Lovelace Family Association of which he was a co-founder. Bill retired from Swans Bakery (Oak Ridge route) in 1982 with 35 years of service. He was a World War II veteran, drafted on his 18th birthday, serving in the US Navy on the U.S.S. Lovelace DE198 in the Pacific Theater where he earned numerous medals and commendations. in Line Fork, Kentucky, May 19, 1924, the fourth child of Oscar and Gertrude Jennings Cooper. Preceded by his parents, precious son, William David (Little Bill), beloved sister, Glendyn Herrell, and brother, Robert Oscar Cooper.
