STAPLETON, KYLE RANDOLPH - 66, of New Market, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 1999, at UT Medical Center. He was a member and deacon of Beaver Creek Baptist Church where he taught the class of young married couples. He was a retired employee of ASARCO and currently employed by Lost Creek Golf Course. He was the son of the late R.C. and Birdie Jo Stapleton; grandfather of the late Amy Stapleton; brother of the late Nola Edmonds, Eula Russell, Laura Collins and Dana Stapleton. Survived by wife, Marjorie McGlamery Stapleton; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Kim Stapleton, Dwight and Demetra Stapleton; grandchildren, Michelle, Mathew, Brittany, John and Anthony Stapleton, all of New Market; sisters, Emma Templin, Knoxville, Chelsie Lyle and Dorothy Walker, both of Jefferson City; brother, J.A. Stapleton, New Market, George Luke Stapleton, Jefferson City; several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Arrangements will be announced later by Fielden Funeral Home, New Market.

SWANNER, JACK A. - age 68, of Memphis, died Tuesday at 8:10 a.m. CST April 6, 1999 at Baptist East Hospital, Memphis. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Swanner; parents, Lee and Robbie Hale Swanner. Survivors: daughter, Deborah Swanner of Durham, NC; daughter and son-in-law, Jacalyn and Allen Brooks of Memphis; two grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Taylor of Strawberry Plains and Ruth Ellis of Knoxville; brother, Berl Swanner of Rockwood, TN; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Stevens Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Paul Moore officiating. Interment icon will be in Trentville cemetery. TOUPS, THERESA G. - age 78, of Knoxville, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 1999, at St. Mary's Hospital, after a long illness. Member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Survivors: son, A.J. (Butch) Toups, Jr.; daughter, Linda T. Smith; son, Anthony R. Toups; grandchildren, Angela, Kevin, Venessa, Chris, Jason and wife, Kim Smith; great-grandchildren, Carmen, Breann, Emily and Laverne. WEAVER, LUE CINDA - age 96, of Powell, passed away April 6, 1999. Member of Cane Patch Primitive Baptist Church, Pound, Va. Preceded in death by husband, Donald L. Weaver. Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Dosha and Glen Raley of Powell; son and daughter-in-law, William D. and Pat Weaver of Crossville; sister, Pearl Nowlin of Powell; stepsons, Paul Weaver of Chatsworth, Ga., Clarence Weaver of Knoxville; stepdaughters, Lassie Woodby of Cleveland, Goldie Martin and Louise Martin, both of Clarksville; 28 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. WOLFENBARGER, MRS. MARY ELLA - age 52, of Maynardville, passed away at her home early Tuesday, April 6, 1999. She was a member of Hines Creek Baptist Church and an employee of Hodge Manufacturing of Maynardville. Preceded in death by brothers, Bobby J. and Billy Wilson. Survivors include loving husband of 35 years, Pat Wolfenbarger; daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and David Wright and Jeannie and David Cox, all of Maynardville; parents, Bratch and Zola Wilson; sister, Yvonne Foust; sister-in-law, Margie Wilson, all of Maynardville; grandchildren, Courtney and Taylor Cox and Savannah and Andrew Wright; several nieces, along with a host of other relatives and friends; special friends, Billy and Claudia Hodge. CLAPP, MR. EDWIN C. - age 91, of Strawberry Plains, formerly of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., passed away in his sleep on April 23, 1999, at his home. Mr. Clapp, a native of Knoxville, was a longtime member of Central United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army and was retired from the Knoxville News-Sentinel. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Clapp; a son, Melvyn D. Clapp; and a brother, Hollis Clapp. He is survived by his: loving wife of 64 years, Lucille Donaldson Clapp; sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Lissea Clapp of Strawberry Plains, Thomas and Delphina Clapp of Knoxville; daughter and son-in-law, Edwina and Jim Baldwin of Strawberry Plains; sister and brother-in-law, Eloise and Creyl Burns of Seymour; 20 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. DYER, NANCY ELEANOR - age 93, of Knoxville, passed away Saturday at Hillcrest North. Longtime member of Sand Branch United Methodist Church. Retired from St. Mary's Hospital and former employee of Liebovitz Shirt Factory. Preceded in death by father and mother, Washburn and Ora Dyer. Survivors: sister, Martha Murphy; niece, Shirley Swaggerty; nephews, Charles (Bill) Murphy, Jimmy R. Giffin; and many special friends. Service 8 p.m. Monday at Mynatt's Chapel, Rev. Ken Abbott, Rev. FOX, MARIAN BRATCHER - age 67, passed away Sunday, April 25, 1999. Marian was preceded in death by: her husband, Claude T. Fox, Jr.; and her sisters, Edna Verna and Polly Gibson. She is survived by: her loving children, Tommy Fox, Sharon Bailey, Steve Fox and Robin Irwin; daughter-in-law, Pennie P. Fox; sons-in-law, Dick Brower and Richard Irwin; grandchildren, Wrenn Fox Spann and husband, Britton Spann and Ricky Irwin; sisters, Sue Taylor, Misty Pepper and Shirley Henning; along with several nieces and nephews. Survivors: husband of 46 years, Bruce Hatcher; children, Wayne Eugene Hatcher of Merced, Calif., Ronald Douglas Hatcher of Louisville, Tenn., Sylvia Lynn Hall of Maryville, and Mark Cameron Hatcher of Turlock, Calif.; six grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; brother, James Herman of Washington. JOHNSON, MARY L. - age 90, of Pittsboro, N.C., died Wednesday, April 21, 1999. Mrs. Johnson was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jerome and Lula Shaver. Her husband, Henry Stanley Johnson, preceded her in death. Mrs. Johnson had a wonderful work ethic throughout her life. She started work at Kresses at the age of 15, later in life she worked the local knitting mill and also as a dietitian. Mary was also a wonderful wife and mother. As her life progressed she took joy in writing songs and preaching the gospel. Mary is survived by: three daughters, Carrie King of Pittsboro, N.C., Mary Louellah Cogdill and Daisy Marie Graham, both of Knoxville; four sisters, Lillian Greenhouse of California, Johnny Morgan and Tilly Thomas, both of Knoxville, and Frankie Bales of Oak City, Tenn.; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Friends will meet at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday at Highland Memorial cemetery South for a 3 p.m. graveside service, Rev. Wayne Huntley officiating. Arrangements by Gentry-Griffey Chapel.

KITTS, BRIAN C. - age 25, of Knoxville, passed away Sunday morning, April 25, 1999, at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center. Survived by: parents, Earl and Brenda Kitts; brothers and sister-in-law, Richard and Mary Kitts, Gerald and Dwayne Kitts, all of Knoxville; grandmother, Thelma G. He was of the Baptist faith and was a US Army veteran of World War II. Retired employee of Kern's Bakery. Preceded in death by: parents, Lamer and Viola Helton Lay; brothers, Homer and Jimmy Lay; sister, Shirley Vick. Survived by: wife, Bertha Jones Lay; son, John H.
