He was a member and Deacon of Beech Fork Baptist Church and had sung with the Wright Family for 34 years. Member of Caryville Masonic Lodge #665 F&AM, retired coal miner. Preceded in death by parents, Abe and Susie Bryge McKamey. Survivors: wife of 52 years, Lizzie McGhee McKamey; sons and daughters-in-law, Glen Ray and Mary Ann McKamey, Caryville, Robert Lee and Brenda McKamey, Coalfield, Kenneth E. and Marcia McKamey, Jimmy M. and Marilyn McKamey, Steven Edward McKamey, all of Caryville; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Roger Wright, Caryville; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Tilda McKamey, LaFollette, Cindy Green, Knoxville, Fannie Jones, Caryville. Funeral service 2 p.m. Wednesday at Beech Fork Baptist Church, Rev. Lee Phillips, Rev. Virgil Tackett officiating. Interment icon in Beech Fork cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Arrangements by Cross Funeral Home.

MELTON, HELEN POINTER - age 54, of Knoxville, passed away Saturday, April 24, 1999, at UT Hospital. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by McCarty Weaver Cumberland Chapel.

NANCE, ORA VONTELLA LAY - age 86, of Knoxville, passed away Saturday, April 24, 1999, at National Health Care. Member of Knoxville Primitive Baptist and Rose Hill Primitive Baptist Church. Former employee of Standard Knitting Mills and retired from General Motors. Preceded in death by: husbands, Clarence (Jack) Lay and Henry Nance; sons, Jack L. and Robert C. Lay; brother, Lee Waggoner; sisters, Inez Keck and Dephia Campbell. Survivors: son, Clyde H. Lay, Sr. of Knoxville; daughter, Janice E. Smith of Annapolis, Md.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Newman, Bonnie James, Mary Brock; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rose Chapel, Elder John Robbins officiating. Interment icon in Lynnhurst cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel.

ROEHL, MR. CHARLES F. - age 75, of Knoxville, passed away Friday, April 23, 1999, at Baptist Hospital. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving in WWII, and a member of Second United Methodist Church. Mr. Roehl retired from Roddy Manufacturing Co., a bottler of Coca-Cola, after 37 years. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Clifton Frederick and Mary Margaret McIntosh Roehl; brothers, Rev. Clifton Edward Roehl, John R. Roehl, and Robert E. Roehl; sisters, Margaret Ann Roehl Bunndy, Charlotte Roehl, Helen Roehl Idol Teffetler and Annett Roehl Bryan. He is survived by: his wife of 51 years, Mrs. Pauline B. Roehl of Knoxville; step-daughter, Rose Mary Mooney; and step-grandsons, Francis Eugene Mooney, III and Aaron A. Mooney, all of Maryland; several nieces and nephews and many friends. Family and friends will gather at graveside Monday, April 26, 1999, at 11 a.m. at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for the interment icon service with military honors. Honorary pallbearers will be: Gene Crutchfield, Jewell Love, Jim Atkins, W.C. Arnold, Steve Morrell and Randy Schutz. Arrangements were made with Highland Memorial Funeral Home, 5315 Kingston Pike, 588-0567.

THOMAS, BARBARA JEAN SIMPSON - age 65, of Knoxville, passed away April 19, 1999, in Naples, Fla. Preceded in death by: parents, Arthur Franklin and Eloise LaVerne Simpson. Survived by: sons and daughters-in-law, Michael D. and Vickie Thomas of Naples, Fla., and Richard T. and Sharon Thomas of Hockessin, Del.; grandsons, Michael Andrew and John Tyler Thomas, both of Naples, and Brandon Tyler Thomas of Hockessin; granddaughter, Mika Jade Thomas of Naples; brother, Charles Simpson of Knoxville; sister, Shirley Gasparini of Cape Coral, Fla.; brother-in-law, Emil Gasparini; sister-in-law, Loretta Simpson; nephews, John Gasparini and Jeff Simpson; nieces, Melissa, Marcia and Sarah Simpson; aunt, Katherine Chrisman. The family will receive friends 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at McCarty Weaver's Chapel with the service to follow at 11 a.m. The cremains will be interred in Woodlawn cemetery following the service. THOMAS, PRINCESS LEWIS - age 86, of Knoxville, died April 24, 1999, at Holston Health Care. She was a member of Arlington Baptist Church. Survivors: sister, Nannie French of Strawberry Plains; brother, W.B. Lewis of Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews; special friends, Denise and Jeremiah Householder. Family and friends will meet at Highland Memorial cemetery Tuesday for a 10 a.m. graveside service, Rev. Mevin Faulkner officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arlington Baptist Church Children's Fund. Friends may call at their convenience at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.

VANDERGRIFF, ELLA MAE - age 81, of Maynardville, passed away April 25, 1999, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was a member of Milan Baptist Church. Preceded in death by: parents, Rev. Jesse and Flora Bruner; husbands, Chester Stanley and Lee Roy Vandergriff; sons, Harold and Kenneth Vandergriff; brothers, James and Vernon Bruner; sister, Blanche Lovett. Survivors: sons, Charles Vandergriff of Maynardville, Robert Stanley of Junction City, Kan.; daughter, Florence Miller of Maynardville; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Easterday of Dandridge; special friends, George Hamilton and Harry Miller; several nieces and nephews. Service 8 p.m. Tuesday at Mynatt's Chapel, Rev. Charles Oliver and Rev. Ralph Cox officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Milan cemetery for interment. Nephews will be pallbearers. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Mynatt's.

WALKER, ALICE E. - age 87, of Sevierville, passed away Saturday, April 24, 1999, at Ft. Sanders Sevier Medical Center. Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her husband, Laurance E. Walker. Alice is survived by: her daughter and son-in-law, June and Douglas Van Tassell, Loudon; grandson, Laurance W. Van Tassell, Northport, N.Y.; granddaughter, Barbara Baumgardner, Plantation, Fla.; great-grandchildren, D.J., Lindsey and Summer. Memorial service will be held at Markhill Village and graveside will be held at Drexel Hill, Pa., with the dates to be announced at a later time by Rawlings Funeral Home.

WEST, JUDITH ANN BURCHETTE (JUDY) - age 55, of Lenoir City, formerly of Pendleton, Ind., passed away suddenly Saturday afternoon, April 24, 1999, in Knoxville. Judy was born July 18, 1943, in Anderson, Ind. She was a former employee of the Madison County Welfare Office and had taught in the South Madison School District in Pendleton, Ind. Judy and her family moved to Lenoir City, in 1995, and had made many new friends. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Lenoir City. Preceded in death by her father, James Edward Burchette. She leaves her loving and grieving family: husband, Ted West, whom she married in 1966; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Becky West of Anderson, Ind., Jeff West of Lenoir City, Jason West of Lenoir City, Ted West, Jr. and Dee West of Buffalo, Ind.; daughters and sons-in-law, Tina and Greg Pastor of Noblesville, Ind., Virginia and Ray Rice of Scottsburg, Ind.; grandchildren, Ethan West, Austin West, Christopher Pastor, Ashley Rice, Amy Rice, Josh West and Brooke West; mother, Eileen Johnson Burchette of Pendleton, Ind.; brothers, Ron Burchette of Michigan, David Burchette of Anderson, Ind.; sister, Barbara Belt of Virginia; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 10-2 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 1999, followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. in the Wilson-St. Pierre Bright Chapel, Pendleton, Ind., Jim Tulman officiating. WOOD, MARGARET CLARK - age 65, of Knoxville, died Sunday, April 25, 1999, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center after a courageous two and a half year battle with breast cancer. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who blessed many with her strong faith in Christ and loving kindness. She was a member of St. James' Episcopal Church, the Ossoli Circle, Episcopal Churchwomen and a 1956 graduate of Baptist School of Nursing. Preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. Raymond Clark. Survivors: husband, C. Mike Wood; children and their families: Glenn and Susan Wood Reider and son, Nathan; Michael and Jennifer Wood and their children, Jenna, Leslie and Abraham; Rob and Ann Wood Shelor and their children, Ben and Betsy. Also survived by: sister, Mary Clark Lee; sisters and brothers-in-law, Janet and Sam Price, Ina and Glenn Swanson; brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Lois Clark; and brother, Eddie Clark; sisters-in-law, Gerrie H. Wood and Mary Ann H. Wood; and many other special friends. Receiving of friends will be held 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 26, at St. James' Episcopal Church. Funeral services will be held at the church on Tuesday, April 27, 1999, at 11 a.m. with burial to follow at Woodlawn cemetery, Rev. Joseph H. Ballard, Jr. officiating. Pallbearers: nephews, Alvin Lee, Greg Clark, Jerry Wood, Jr., John Wood; and brothers-in-law, Sam Price and Glenn Swanson. The family wishes to thank the staff of the 6th floor east, UT Medical Center, for their dedicated and compassionate care. WILLIS, PHEBA DYER - age 79, of Loudon, died Saturday, April 24, 1999, at Loudon Health Care Center. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Preceded in death by: husband, Arthur (Dago) Willis; sons, Jr. and Cecil Willis; parents, Sam and Elizabeth Ridge Dyer. Survivors: children and spouses, Glen and Patsy Willis, Gail and Bob Brown, Sharon Robinson, Loudon, Faye and Bobby Miller, Lenoir City; seven grandchildren, Nicole Willis, Angie Rose, John Gibson, Ray Willis, Kim Bridges, Misty Miller and Tim Willis; four great-grandchildren. Funeral services 7:30 p.m. Monday at Loudon Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Sammy Thomas, Rev. Paul White and Rev. Michael Price officiating. Interment icon 11 a.m. Tuesday in Corinth cemetery. YATES, NINA F. - age 92, of Rt. 4, Rutledge, passed away Sunday morning, April 25, 1999, at Ridgeview Terrace Nursing Home. She was a member of Indian Ridge Baptist Church. Mrs. Yates was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Hannah Yates. Survivors include several cousins and devoted friends, Paul and Forrest Ramsey and family. Funeral services for Mrs. Yates will be held Tuesday, April 27, 1999, at 8 p.m. in the Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ted Phillips and Rev. Mike Lee officiating. Graveside services will be held Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. in the Indian Ridge cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. He was a member of Pocahontas Bassett Baptist Church, and a retired employee of American Furniture Company. Preceded in death by daughter, Jewel Crystal Alderman; and brother, Eugene Ball. Survived by: daughters, Lela Young of Boones Mill, Virginia, and Dolores Nunn of Bassett, Virginia; sons, Bruce Alderman of Collinsville, Virginia, David Alderman, of Talbott, Tennessee, Bobby Alderman, and Michael Alderman both of Bassett, Virginia; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Funeral services held Thursday 4:00 p.m. at Collins Funeral Chapel, Bassett, Virginia. Rev. James Alsop officiating. Family will receive friends Wednesday from 7-8:30 p.m. Collins Chapel. BROWN, HUGH M. age 82 of Dandridge, Tennessee, passed away Monday September 20, 1999 at St. Mary's Hospital. He was a member of Hopewell Presbyterian church in Dandridge. Mr. Brown lived many years in Knoxville where he owned Brown Construction Company. He was a veteran of WWII and a long tme member of North Side Kiwanis Club. He is preceded in death by one son, John Bradley Brown. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Frances McClanahan Brown; daughter and son-in-law, Maureen and Bob Lucas; son and daughter-in-law, Hugh Allan and Beatrice Brown; grandchildren, Mary Frances Scherer, Sandra Hawkins, Keven Brown, Eric Brown and Hugh Williamson;' great grandchildren, Christine and Conner Schere, Shandra and Savanah Hawkins, Cory and Brittney Brown, and Trey and Todd Brown; and one sister, Ruby Brown, of Broadhead, Ky. Family and friends will meet Thursday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel by 12:30 p.m. to travel in procession to Highland Memorial cemetery for a 1:00 p.m. graveside service with Rev. Bill Middleton officiating. Military Honors by the Volunteer State Veterans Honor Guard. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hopewell Presbyterian Church, P.O.
