CROWDER, THOMAS EZRA, age 99 of Lenoir City passed away Monday morning October 11, 1999 at the Farragut Health Care Center. Tom was a member of Central United Methodist Church, the Volunteer Sunday school class and the Knox County Retired Teachers Association. He was a 50 year member of Avery Lodge 593 F&AM and Farragut OES Chapter #459 where he was a Past Patron. Tom taught school in Roane and Knox counties for many years and retired as a chemist from Union Carbide K-25. Preceded in death by wife, Anna Roberts Crowder. Surviviors: son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Douglas and Elaine Crowder of Lenoir City; daughters and son-in-law, Gretchen C. Harvey of Rockwood, Gorda and Henry Singletary, Sr. of Wilmington NC; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; brother, Ken Crowder of Ontario, Canada; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Oliver Lewis of San Bernardino, California; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7-8:15 p.m. Wednesday at Central United Methodist Church 201 B Street in Lenoir City followed by funeral services at 8:30 p.m. Rev. C. Mark Gooden officiating. Honorary pall bearers will be members of the Volunteer Sunday school class. Family and friends will gather at 10 a.m. Thursday at Oak Grove cemetery in Rockwood, Tenn. for graveside services. CURTIN, MICHAEL, age 16 of Andersonville, passed away Saturday, October 9, 1999 at UT Medical Center in Knoxville. Michael was a Junior at Anderson County High School. Michael lettered in the band, cross country, soccer, and track. He holds the school record in the 3 mile run. He was also a member of the Scholar Bowl Team. He was active in the Boy Scouts, Troop #73 as a life scout and an instructor. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Norris. Preceded in death by grandmother, Gladys DeChristopher. He was born May 6, 1983 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Survivors: parents, Dennis T. and Judith DeChristopher Curtin of Andersonville; brothers, Cpl. DeChristopher (Chris) Curtin, U.S. Marine Corps, William John (Will) Curtin, University of Tenn. Knoxville; grandparents, William J. and Lucille G. Curtin of Wakefield, R.I., grandfather,Ted DeChristopher of Peekskill, NY; several loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. The family will receive friends from 6-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 13, 1999 at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with Rosary at 8:30 p.m. Family will also receive friends at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Andersonville from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday October 14th, with funeral Mass at 7:00 p.m., with Father Frank Brett & Father Michael Sweeney officiating. Interment icon will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 15th at Norris Memorial Gardens. DAVIS, BEULAH V., age 78 of Powell, passed away Oct. 10, 1999 at her home. Member of First Baptist Church of Powell. Preceded n death by husband, Luther Leon Davis; son, Bruce Davis & 3 brothers. Survived by children, Alline Byrd & husband Bill, Junior Davis & wife, Myra, Reva Davis, Hubert Davis & wife, Vera; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; brothers, Rev. Eugene Stinnett & D.L. FLENNIKEN, THOMAS PATRICK III, (Tom) age 44, passed away Oct. 11, 1999 at UT Hospital. Preceded in death by mother, Betty Leoma (Bets) Clark Flenniken and brother, Eddie Clark. He was employed by Stage Hands Local #197 Knoxville. Survived by: father, Thomas Patrick (Pat) Flenniken, Jr.; brothers, Dennis Alexander & Charles David Flenniken; sister, Janie Marie Wilder; nieces and nephews, Christine Denise, Jessica Marie, Ashley Nichole, Amanda Paige, Rachael Elyse, Lauren Danielle, Jonathan Kyle Patrick, Alexandria Nichole, Amber Rose. YARDLEY, WANDA VANDERGRIFF, of Fountain City passed away at her home on Monday October 11, 1999. She was a member of Central Baptist Church of Fountain City and was preceded in death by father, Allie Vandergriff. Survived by husband, Sam Yardley; mother, Hassie Vandergriff; brothers, Ken, Bill, & Bob Vandergriff; sisters, Mrs. Winfred (Phyllis) Mitchell, Mrs. Pete(Anna Lee) McCoy and Mrs. Larry (Ruby) Gray. HEARN, OLIVIA RICHEY - age 88, of Knoxville, formerly of Lincoln, AL and Panama City, Fla. died Monday, October 11, 1999 at Baptist Hospital in Knoxville. She was a member of First Baptist Church Concord and a retired School Teacher with Bay County Education Department in Panama City, Fla, having taught in Millville School for 25 years. She was preceded in death in 1975 by husband, Millard F. Hearn. Survived by son and daughter-in-law, Millard F., Jr. and Jana Hearn of Pittsburgh, PA; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Emma and Mike Bunch of Knoxville; grandchildren, Michael C. Bunch, Jr. and wife, Karen, Gregory A. Bunch, John V.R. Hearn and Susannah M.O. Hearn; great-grandson, Michael Taylor Bunch; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William C. and Nell Hearn of Talladega, AL; several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will meet 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Lincoln cemetery, Lincoln, AL for a 12:00 noon graveside service with Rev. Bob Sessoms officiating. HUBBS-BELLRINGER, MRS. ELSIE EDITH, age 94, born January 19, 1905, passed away October 10, 1999. She was a member of Warwick';s Chapel Baptist Church which she joined at the age of 10 in 1915. She loved to sing hymns and did some solo singing in her younger days. For a number of years she worked in Social Services for the Methodist Children's Home in Detroit, Mich. She also held supervisory postions with Harper Hospital and the YMCA, both also in Detroit, Mich. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Datha and Don Gryder, and Varnell Hubbs-Watson all of Knoxville, and Georgella and Hugh Baker of Farmington Hills, Mich. Loving grandmother of Judith Baker-McGuire, Gloria Baker-Poehlman, Brent Baker, Karen Watson Stillman, and Gregory Watson. Favorite nieces, Norma Hubbs-Corum, Jean Hubbs-Skeen, Patrica Peters-Stewart, and Karen Branson-Corum (grandniece). Special thanks to son-in-law, Don Gryder, for his kind loving care for our mother. The family will receive friends 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, at Warwick's Chapel Baptist Church, with funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. Rev. Willis Shankle , Rev. Stewart Skeen, and Rev. Mr. Luttrell was of the Baptist faith and was A Medical Tech in World War II and attended Blue Grass and Farragut High School. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Louis and Alta Luttrell; brothers, Frank and William Luttrell and son, Earl E. Miller, Sr.. Mr. Luttrell is survived by his loving family, wife of 50 years, Nancy Luttrell; daughter and son-in-law, Myra F. and Bill C. Carpenter of Sidney, Ohio and a special niece, Willene Price of Chattanooga; sister, Kate Wood of Chattanooga; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; several other nieces and nephews. Born February 28, 1932 in Sharpes Chapel, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lovie (Ray) Pierce; wife, Opal (Turner) Pierce; 2 sisters; Ruby Wilson, & Harriet Turner; 1 granddaughter. He was retired from the Ford Motor Co., Sandusky Plant, and was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Clyde.
