DYER, HARLEY EDWARD - passed away peacefully on April 5, 2000. A native of Knoxville, Tennessee. Born June 16, 1924. Loving husband to Gloria, his wife of 54 years. Beloved father to his two sons Ken and Dave and his two daughters in law, Sandy and Diane. Devoted Papaw to Jeff, Mike, Greg and Matt. Adoring brother to Eulah, Inez and Bootie and many nieces and nephews. Friends and relatives are invited for visitation this Sunday, April 9, 2000, at Mt. Vernon Mortuary, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks from 12-5 p.m. Services will be held on Monday April 10, 2000, at 10 a.m.

HEADRICK, SAM HUBERT - 88, of Sevierville went home to be with the Lord Friday, April 7, 2000 at his residence. Mr. Headrick was a member of Wears Valley First Baptist Church, a 50 year member of the Mason Lodge, a member of the American Legion, and served in the United States Navy during WWII. Sam was preceded in death by his son, Sammy Headrick; brothers, Charlie, Frank, and Peter Headrick; sister, Lillie Carnes, Hazel Dunn, Josie Headrick, and Minnie LeQuire. He is survived by his wife, Merlie Headrick of Sevierville; daughter and son in law, Becky and Mike McCarter of Sevierville; granddaughter, Nikki McCarter of Sevierville, also several nieces; nephews; and a host of friends. Service will be 8 p.m. Saturday, April 8 at Rawlings Funeral Chapel with Rev. Roy Gose officiating. Interment icon will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 9, at Headrick's Chapel. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Rawlings Funeral Home.

HILL, PEGGY ETHEL SPRADLIN - age 73 of Palermo Rd. Knoxville formerly of Campbell County departed this life suddenly with a massive heart attack Thursday, April 6, 2000 at the Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Jefferson City, Tenn. She was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Hill was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett and Elizabeth Wilson Spradlin and brother, Everett Spradlin. She is survived by daughters and sons in law, Judy Reed & Dave Clark of Bluff City, Tenn., Fedda Hill & Gary Valentine of Knoxville, Deborah Hill & D.L. Hobby of Dandridge, and Sherri Hill Harris of Rutledge; granddaughters, Elizabeth Wolfenbarger & Madison Clark and one on the way; sister and brother in law, Evelyn & Kenneth Wright of Powell; sister in law, Mildred Spradlin of LaFollette; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services 4 p.m. Sunday April 9, 2000 at Grantsboro Baptist Church with Rev. J.T. Asbury and Rev. Phillip King officiating. Interment icon will follow in Pond cemetery. HODGES, ORVALEE W. - age 92 of Knoxville, born Jan. 10, 1908, passed away Friday April 7, 2000, at Ft. Sanders Regional Med. Center. He was a member of Chilhowee Hills Baptist Church, where he was a faithful member of the choir. He had served as a deacon for over 60 years at Thorngrove Baptist Church, McCalla Ave. Baptist Church and Chilhowee Baptist Church. He was a member of the East Knoxville Kiwanis Club. He was the retired owner of O.W. Hodges expert saw repair. Preceded in death by parents, C.E. & Mollie Hodges; brother, Clarence Hodges; sister, Stella Cruze and first wife, Maude Hodges. Survivors, wife, Juanita Hodges; step children, Elvin & wife, Nelda Henry of Concord, NC, Roger & wife, Frances Henry of Tallahassee, Fla.; 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. Funeral service 2 p.m. Sunday Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel. Rev. Bob Peek & Dr. Tony Crisp officiating. Interment icon Thorngrove cemetery. JULIAN, CLYDE M. - age 66, of Knoxville, passed away April 6, 2000. Preceded in death by parents, Roy and Pauline Julian; brother, Billy Hill Julian. Survivors: sisters & brothers in law, Edna Raye & Paul Vickers, Wilma & Marvin Hickman, Faye & Arthur Hodges; sister in law, Judy Julian; brothers & sisters in law, Earl & Betty Julian, Jackie & Kaye Julian; brother, Clay Julian; special friend, Don Henry; step mother, Lois Julian; several nieces & nephews. LEATHERWOOD, EVA WORTH - age 87 of Knoxville passed into the hereafter 3:45 p.m. Thursday, April 6, 2000 at Saint Mary's Medical Center. Member of Washington Pike United Methodist Church. She was the widow of George S. Leatherwood. Also, preceded in death by mother, Dicie Thomas Worth; father and stepmother, Carrol and Pearl Worth; brothers, Hobart, Alger, Conard and Herman Worth; sister, Zelma Burchfield and Hazel Lowe. Survived by son, Ronald Joseph (Joe) Leatherwood and daughter, Carolyn Leatherwood; several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will meet at Woodlawn cemetery at 1:45 p.m. Sunday for a 2 p.m. graveside service and interment. Dr. James R. Bailes officiating. MASSENGILL, MRS. ANNA MACEL (BUNCH) - departed this life to go to live with her heavenly Father on April 7, 2000. She was preceded in death by her husband, Levi Massengill; her daughter, Mary Massengill and infant son, Clifford. She was born on June 20, 1905 and was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Harriman. She is survived by her daughters and sons in law, Betty and John Jones of the Stephens Community, Nellie and Victor McEachin of Ft. Laugderdale, Fla., Kay and Lawrence Blevins of Jamestown; sons and daughters in law, Arthur and Joyce Massengill of Gulfport, Miss., Curtis and Melissa Massengill of the Stephens Community. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; and twenty-six great grandchildren; and a host of nieces; nephews; and many friends. The family will receive friends Saturday evening, April 8, 2000 from 6-8 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home, Wartburg. The funeral service will begin at 8 p.m. with Bro. Ralph Nance officiating. McCARTY, ALMA - age 78 of Strawberry Plains, went to be with the Lord Thursday April 6, 2000 at Baptist Hospital in Knoxville. She was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church and a Sunday school teacher for many years. Preceded in death by husband Rufus McCarty and parents, Melvin and Laura Jones; 5 sisters; and 2 brothers. Survivors include daughter and son in law, Peggy and B.J. McCubbins; son and daughter in law, Omar and Chris McCarty; sister, Helen Sikes; grandchildren, Kim Rutherford, Kelly Wright, Kendra Rudder, Bradley, Becky, and Megan McCarty, and Beth Corum; 5 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 8, 2000 at 8 p.m. at McCarty's Evergreen Chapel with Rev. Herman Wilson, Rev. Buford Wilson, and Rev. Eugene Greene officiating. Interment icon services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Pollard cemetery, family and friends will meet in the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. The McCarty family will receive friends Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at McCarty's Evergreen Chapel, 7426 Asheville Hwy.

McCLAIN, SYLVESTER HOUSTON SR. - age 53, of Knoxville, departed this life at his home April 5, 2000 after a lengthy illness. He was an active member of First AME Zion Church and was employed by Yellow Fright Systems. Preceded in death by brother, Charles Avery, Jr. and sister, Karen Avery. He leaves to mourn his passing, loving wife, Mary F. McClain; children, Dimitri M. (Tarmara) Norris, Aurora C. (William) Carey, Sylvia M. (Maurice) Jenkins, Sylvester H. McClain II and Anthony W. McClain; parents, mother, Mary R. Avery; father, Charles Avery; stepmother, Patricia Avery; sisters, Vivian (Tyrone) Moore, Mary J. (Lawrence) Dixson, Sharon (John) Knight; brothers, Robert Avery, Anthony Avery, William (Mary) Avery; 7 grandchildren; many devoted family and friends. MOUNTAIN, BOBBY DEVON - age 85, of Talbott, Tenn. formerly of Knoxville, passed away Friday morning April 7, 2000 at Saint Mary's Medical Center in Knoxville. He was a present member of the Jehovah's Witness Congregation of Jefferson City and formerly a member of the South Knoxville Congregation. He is survived by his sister, Cleo Mountain Oxford of Talbott; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. NEELY, MRS. MARTHA - age 94 of Tazewell, Tenn. was born August 18, 1905 and passed away April 6, 2000 at the Claiborne County Hospital. She was a member of the Midway Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Neely; sons, Faye Neely, Edward Neely & Wade Neely; daughters, Mary Brooks, Chloa Neely, Ruby Neely and Eva Harrell; two infant sons and two infant daughters. She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Glen and Lelia Neely of Tazewell, Tenn.; brother, Charles Lynch of New Tazewell, Tenn.; sisters, Roxie Drummonds of Monroe, Mich., Leona Lynch of New Tazewell, Tenn.; 16 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; special friend, Glenda Anders of Tazewell, Tenn.; and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2000 at the Claiborne Funeral Home. Funeral service will be conducted Sunday, April 9, 2000 at 2 p.m. in the Claiborne Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Henry Shelton and Rev. Ronnie Pressnell officiating. Music by Rev. Kenny Trent. NUNN, RONALD ALLAN, SR. - age 52 of Los Angeles, Calif. formally of Alcoa passed away April 1, 2000 in Los Angeles. Graveside services will be held Monday April 10, 2000 at 2 p.m. at Tennessee State Veterans cemetery, Knoxville with Rev. Gorge Byrd officiating and full military honors by East Tennessee Honor Guard. The body may be viewed from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Foothills Funeral Home, Maryville.

OGLE, GLADYS SHIELDS - age 88 of Maryville, died Thursday, April 6, 2000 at Maryville Healthcare Center. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church of Knoxville and was preceded in death by her husband, James Ogle; mother, Frankie Shields and brother, James Douglas Shields. Survivors include: son, Jack Shields Mills of Knoxville; 2 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brother and sister in law, Stanley B. "Skeeter" and Mary Frances Shields of Maryville. Family and friends will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday at Union cemetery in Newport, Tenn. for a graveside service with Rev. Riley Huffstetler officiating. PERRYMAN, GORDON LESLIE - age 69 of Karns passed away Friday, April 7, 2000 at Ft. Sanders Parkwest Hospital in Knoxville. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced later. Weaver Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

SENKLER, LINDA (LINN) GAIL - age 52 of Knoxville passed away, Thursday April 6, 2000 at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital due to complications from a lung transplant. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Dunbar, West Virginia. Preceded in death by father, Harold Martin. She was the loving wife of Charles E. Senkler and loving mother of daughters, Kimberly Blair and son in law, Jimmy Blair, Heather Senkler, and son, Bret Senkler all of Knoxville. Other survivors mother, Tressa Elaine Hirsh and step father Don Hirsh; sisters and brothers in law, Tonie and Dieter Garrett, Dawna and Danny Kessler; mother in law, Rose Senkler; sister in law and spouse, Gale and Bill Logsden; brother in law and spouse, Mike and Marty Senkler; several nieces and nephews. A special thanks to our family and friends for their love and support during Linn's illness. Family and friends will meet at Fairview Baptist Church cemetery, Ridgeview Road (Emory Road) Corryton, at 10:45 a.m. Monday for an 11 a.m. graveside service and interment. Rev. TURNER, CHARLOTTE LOUISE - Louise was born in Church Hill, Tenn. on October 30, 1915. She died on April 6, 2000. She attended Tusculum College and graduated from Tennessee Weslyon College. Louise taught school for many years in the Kingsport area. After moving to Knoxville she joined and became an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Diabetic Association, played in the Bell Plate choir, and loved to travel. Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Lewis John Turner; and a son, David Lewis Turner. She was a loving and compassionate minister's wife, mother, and grandmother. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, a daughter, Lois Turner; sons, Curtis Paul turner and wife, Dianne, Kenneth R. turner and wife, Joy; grandchildren, Mark Dinsmore, April Dinsmore, Daniel Turner, and Gina Turner. Mrs. Turner is at Highland Memorial Funeral Home, 5315 Kingston Pike, where the family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. Sunday. Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Carl Oaks and Rev. Angie Hardy officiating.
