JONES, "C.E." (JONESY) - age 71, of Knoxville, passed away Monday October 30, 2000 at UT Medical Center. A member of Forest Grove Freewill Baptist Church, he was a retired welder operator for General Motors. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, C.E. and Elza Blazier Jones, Sr.; a son, Roger Jones; a sister, Inez Jones and a brother, Earl Jones. Surviving are his loving family, his wife, Catherine Jones; brothers and sisters in law, Stanley and Claudette Jones, Clarence (Mert) and Betty Jones, and Kenneth Jones; sisters, Dot Plemons and Leona DeArmond; special friends, Gene and Linda Caldwell and Carolyn Reddell and many loving nieces and nephews. Mr. Jones is at Highland South Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. with the funeral following at 8 p.m. conducted by Rev. Jack Taylor and Rev. Tarvis Sturgill. Interment icon is Thursday at 11 a.m. at Highland South cemetery. Pallbearers are Gary Jones, Gene Caldwell, Paul Warren, Wayne DeArmond, Jeff Plemons and Tim Jones. LOFTIS, WILMA B. - age 79 of Maryville, died Tuesday, October 31, 2000 at UT Medical Center. She was a member of Everett Hills Baptist Church and was retired from J. C. Penney Company after 26 years of service. Mrs. Loftis was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Loftis and her parents, Harvey and Irisa Burgess. Survivors include, son & daughter in law, Nelson and Addie Jo Loftis of Maryville, daughters and sons in law, Peggy and Bill Price of Knoxville, Regina and Cleve Miller of Maryville, and Jane and Ricardo Gracia of Knoxville; grandchildren, Melanie Davis, Cindy Brooks, April Loftis, Gary Goin, Justin Loftis, Jeremy Loftis, and Kayla Miller; one great grandchild, Jacob Goin; sister, Bobbie Cupp of Maryville; two nieces and one nephew. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday in McCammon-Ammons-Click funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Allen Raines officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10 a.m. Friday at Grandview Mausoleum for the entombment service. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, Maryville.

JOHNSON, JAMES LEE - age 63, of Seymour passed away Monday morning, Oct. 30, 2000 at UT Hospital. Member of Valley Grove Baptist Church. US Army veteran of the Korean War. Retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 30 years service. Survivors: wife, Sandra Clark Johnson; son & daughter in law, James Edwin & Stacy Johnson of Knoxville; daughter, Kimberly Renee Johnson of Knoxville; grandson, Scoty Lewis; sister & brother in law, Pauline & Jack McMurray; brothers & sisters in law, Bruce & Ruby Johnson, Larry & Mildred Johnson, Eugene & Gloria Johnson; several nieces & Nephews. Funeral service 8 p.m. Wednesday Mynatt's Chapel. Rev. Bobby Tucker officiating. Family & friends will meet at Lynnhurst cemetery at 11 a.m. Thursday for interment. Members of McGhee-Tyson Air National Guard will present military honors at the grave. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Mynatt's.

MILLER, E. ROBERT "BOB" - age 67, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, October 29, 2000, at Baptist Hospital. Mr. Miller graduated from the University of Tennessee and was retired from the City of Knoxville. He was a member of North Knoxville Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, Roy and Gladys Miller and sister, Margaret M. Smith. Survived by wife of 42 years, Betty Wood Miller; brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy Jr. and Nina Miller of Nashville and Richard and Mildred Miller of Knoxville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Hazel and Herbert McPhetridge of Lawrenceville, Ga., Mary Ann and Curtis Buchanan, Brenda and Jerry DeFord, and Linda and Conrad Reese, all of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Family and friends will meet at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2000, at Highland Memorial cemetery for a 10 a.m. graveside service. PERIUT, PERLA ZAYDEN - age 80, of Miami, Fla., formerly of Knoxville, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2000. She came to this county from Havana, Cuba in 1961. She was a successful Businesswoman, establishing Zayden Laboratories, a pharmaceutical company in Havana. She was the wife of Dr. Antinio Periut, who preceded her in death in 1998. They had eleven children during their 59 year marriage. She assisted her husband in his medical office in Etowah for many years. She was of the Catholic faith, former member of Sacred Heart Cathedral, in Knoxville. Preceded in death by husband, and son, Antonio Periut, Jr. Local survivors include daughter and sons in law, Grace and Michael Hill of Karnes; Lisette and Bo Carey of Loudon; son, Joseph Periut and Eduardo Periut both of Knoxville. ROBINSON, ELIZABETH ANN - age 93, died Sunday, October 29, 2000, in Lanett, Ala. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Chattanooga. Preceded in death by husband, William Harris Robinson. She is survived by sons, William H. (Bill) Robinson, Jr., Lanett, Ala. and Glenn Hoskins Robinson, Martin, Tenn.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Family and friends will meet Wednesday at Highland Memorial cemetery for an 11 a.m. graveside service with Rev. Dave Ward officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Lanett First Baptist Church. Arrangements by Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.

ROMINES, BEVERLY RUTH "BUNNY" -age 42 of Knoxville, went to be with Jesus Sunday, October 29, 2000. Preceded in death by parents, Sam and Marjorie Loveday; Brothers: Tony, Terry, and Bobby Loveday, and sister Kathy Loveday. Survivors include husband Harry R. Romines, Daughter Angie and husband Ricky Pilkington; Stepdaughter Tammy England; Grandchildren: Little Rick and Jessica; Sisters: Becky and husband Ronnie Sharp, Tina and Sherry Loveday, Tammy and husband Tim Price; stepmother Brenda Loveday; Grandmother, Sythia Porterfield; several nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 1, 2000 at 8:00 pm in the Chapel of McCarty Mortuary with Pastor Bill Romines officiating. Family and friends will meet in the Seven Islands cemetery, Thursday at 1:45 pm for a 2:00 pm. Interment icon service. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8 pm. ROSENBALM, MINNIE TOWNSEND - age 78, of West Knoxville, passed away suddenly Tuesday morning, October 31, 2000, in an automobile accident. Minnie was a member of Hines Valley Baptist Church. She was retired from the Court Café. Minnie was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Townsend and Willliam Rosenbalm. Survivors: children and spouses, Marcella and Bob Schmidt of Maryland, Geraldine Neidhart of California, Ernestine DeFresne of Massachusetts, Linda and Mike Satterly of Georgia, John and Beverly Townsend of Loudon, Donald and Darlene Townsend of Knoxville, Fred and Helen Townsend of Loudon; 14 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Mary Woody of Benton; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Mary (Dixie) Nelson of Knoxville. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday Followed by funeral services at 8 p.m. in Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Allen Williams officiating. SMITH, AMY J. - age 26, of Powell, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2000. She was a member of Dante Baptist Church. Surviving are her loving family, mother, Betty Bowling; father and step mother, Robert C. and Janice Smith; grandparents, Morgan and Jane Hutson; son, Marcus Smith; two brothers, Robert Smith II and Michael Newman; two sisters, Janie Hall and Amanda Bowling, and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Special friends, Stacy and Erin. The funeral will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Highland South Chapel with Rev. Phillip Murphy officiating. Burial will follow in Highland South cemetery. SMITH, TOMMY W. - age 75, of Jellico, Tenn., passed away Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at UT Medical Center. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jellico and a retiree of the US Postal Service. He served on the Pine Mountain Center Board; was a member of the Lyons Club; Optimist Club; Campbell County Election Commission and City Planning Commission. He also served on several church committees. Preceded in death by parents, James Lewis Smith & Bertha Baker Smith. Survivors: wife, Barbara Washburn Smith; daughter & son in law, Beulah & Dr. George Baddour of Knoxville; grandson, Thomas Hunter Baddour of Knoxville; brother, E.J. Smith of Jellico; sisters, Roxie Zecchini of Newcomb, Tenn., Buelah Smith of Cleveland, Tenn. and Emma Jane Cummins of Jellico; several nieces & nephews, including special niece, Betty Jane Chitwood of Jellico. The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church, Jellico, Thursday, Nov. 2, from 6-8 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 8 p.m. with Dr. Chuck Summers and the Rev. BAKER, CARRIE LOUISE MORGAN - age 92, of Maryville, passed away Wednesday evening, January 17, 2001 at Wellington Place. She was a graduate of Middletown High School, Middletown, Ohio and Ohio State University, where she majored in Art and Art Education. Before moving to Maryville in 1994, she had been a resident of Stuart, Miami and Marathon, Florida, where she was active in arts councils and community life. She and her husband were restauranteurs in thw south Florida area for over 25 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Earl Baker, of Red Lion, Ohio. She is survived by her son, Philip Morgan Baker of Maryville, and his wife, Cheryl; grandchildren, Matthew and Megan of Maryville, Ken and Brenda of Knoxville and four great-grandchildren, Ashley, Morgan, Andrew and Shelby, also of Knoxville. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Myron Snethen (Sally) of Middletown, Ohio and many loving nieces and nephews. Mrs. Baker was cremated and a memorial service will be held in Middletown, Ohio this spring. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the charity of your choice. BELL, MARGARET - age 79, of Knoxville, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2001, at NHC Ft. Sanders. She was a member of Hillcrest United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Trent; and sister, Mary Johnson. Survivors: husband, Harold C. BENZ, ANNA - 94, of Knoxville, Tenn. died Thursday at UT Medical Center. Born in Rietheim, Germany she came to the United Sates in 1929. Mrs. Benz was a former resident of East Syracuse, NY. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Minoa, NY since 1934. Her husband, Leo Benz died in 1998 and a son, Edward J. Benz died in 1955. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Anne Djuvik of Pa. and Erika J. Fuhr of Knoxville, Tenn.; 8 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at St. Mary's Church, Minoa. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery, Minoa. A calling hour will be from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Monday at Russell H. Schepp & Son Funeral Home, 109 East Ave. Minoa, NY. Contributions may be made to the UT Hospital Chaplain's Fund or Sacred Heart Cathedral.

BRACKETT, PAULINE SHUBERT - age 81 of Lenoir City passed away Friday afternoon January 19, 2001 at the Loudon Hospital. Pauline was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Brackett; sons, Sammy, Charles and George Brackett; brothers, Barlow and Hugh Brackett, Harvey Shubert and Ambrose Christopher Brackett; sisters, Nell Spoon and Ollie Clowers. Survivors: sisters, Mae Skidmore of Lenoir City and Lennie Taylor of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews. CAMERON, DEWEY - age 94 of Rutledge passed away Friday, January 19, 2001 at his residence. He was a member and deacon of Avondale Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents: Charlie and Janie Cameron; sons, Luther and Carson Cameron; brother, Isaac Cameron. Survivors include, wife of 71 years, Matilda; son, Thurl and wife, Juanita of Rutledge; three granddaughters; three grandsons; one great granddaughter; one great grandson.
