Survived by daughters, Cindy Oglesby of Corryton and Dawn Dye of Mississippi; son, David Rush of Dandridge; granddaughter, Samantha Cutshaw; sisters, Barbara Hooks, Martha Suffridge, Sue Smith of Kentucky, Lois Tyree and Janice Lamb; brothers, Theo Coppock, Darrell Pendergrass, Michael and Lonnie King of Kentucky, and Mike Grissom. Family and friends will meet at New Loyston Memorial Gardens 11 a.m. Tuesday for a graveside service. Friends will be received 6-8 p.m. Monday at Mynatt's.

CLAPP, GEORGE ROSS - age 83 of Knoxville, passed away Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001 at St. Mary's Residential Hospice. Member of Fountain City Presbyterian Church. He was past secretary-treasurer and president of Teamster's Local 519 and past president of Teamster's Retirees Club. Member of Charles McKiney Lodge #433 F&AM, was a 32nd Degree Mason and a 50 year member of the Eagles. He spent his life fighting for their benefit of working people. Preceded in death by wife, Loraine Clapp; sister, Geneva Butler. Survived by daughter and son in law, Brenda & Carroll Logan; grandchildren and spouses, Rhodes & Amy Logan, Heather & Rob Bartlett of Cleveland, Tenn.; great grandchildren, Wendy and Alex Logan; sisters; brothers and spouses, Jim & Mildred Clapp, Agnes & John Beeler, Willie & James Lester of Chattanooga, David and Martha Clapp, Chester and Wanda Clapp of Wichita, Kan., Ina Clapp and Bill Butler; many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. Service 8 p.m. Monday Mynatt's Chapel. Rev. Max Reddick officiating. Family and friends will meet at Shiloh United Methodist Church cemetery in Grainger County at 11 a.m. Tuesday for interment. COLDITZ, MRS. HOPE C. - 91, of Allardt, passed away on January 19, 2001. She was a long time resident of East Tenn. having been born November 6, 1909, in Knox County. She attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and taught Elementary School in Knox County for thirty years. Hope was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Hugo, in 1987. After their retirement, they moved from Knox County to Allardt, Tenn. in 1975. They were members of Allardt Presbyterian Church. She is survived by two sons and daughters in law, Malcolm and Harriett of Dickinson, TX, Richard and Beverly of Carrollton, Ga. Also surviving are six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Family will receive friends Sunday, January 21, from 6-8 p.m. at the Jennings Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be at the Allardt cemetery at 2 p.m. CST Monday January 22, 2001. COX, HASKIEL WILLIAM - of Jefferson County Nursing Home, formerly of Arch Drive, Dandridge, Tenn., passed away at the Jefferson County Nursing Home Friday, January 19, 2001. He was retired from R. T. Clapp after 25 years of service and a real estate broker. Formerly a member of the Antioch United Methodist Church in Mosheim and Church Street United Methodist Church in Knoxville. Mr. Cox also was a member of Mascott Lodge #244 F&AM and Kerbella Temple, a 50 year member of the Shriners and Scottish Rite. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Bobbie Cox of Dandridge; one sister, Mrs. Ralph (Eva Lou) Sayler of Knoxville; one brother, J. Robert (Bob) Cox of Knoxville; three nieces, Cathy C. Banks of Knoxville, Virginia Ann Southerland of Morristown and Joan Kite Greene of Morristown; two nephews, Dr. Sidney C. Roberts of Knoxville and John Anthony Roberts of Wilmington, N.C. Preceded in death by his parents, Samuel L. and Leo Cox. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday, January 22, 2001, at Oak Grove cemetery. A Masonic service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday, January 21, 2001, by Mosheim Masonic Lodge #463 F&AM. The family will receive friends at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home from 3-4 p.m. and 6-7 p.m. Sunday afternoon and evening prior to the Masonic service. Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home, is in charge of arrangements.

CURRIE, WILLIAM ROBERT NEIL (NEIL) - age 72, of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday January 14, 2001 at Jefferson City Health and Rehabilitation Center. He is survived by wife, Maxine (Micki); son, Neil and daughter in law, Janice of Kent, Wash.; daughter, Ann Mayes of Wentzville, Mo.; grandsons, Tom Mayes of Wellsville, Mo. and Jesse Mayes of St. Charles, Mo.; granddaughters, Cheryl and Leslie Currie of Kent, Wash.; sisters, Margaret Mosher of Kenora, Ontario, Canada and Ruth Edfast of Grand Junction, Colo.; brothers, Donald M. Currie of Kirksville, Mo. and Charles I. of Aberdeen, SD. A memorial service will be scheduled during the spring or summer for family and friends. DAWES, PATRICIA MAE "HURST" - age 44, of Knoxville, passed away Friday, January 19, 2001, at Baptist Hospital. Survivors: husband, William Dawes; sons and daughter-in-law, Shaun Dawes and Anthony and Mindy Hurst; grandchildren, Skylar Hurst and Garrett Hurst; sisters, Darlene Hickman and husband Terry, and Marie Hood and husband, Johnny; brother, Dennis Hurst and wife, Kathy. Special friends, Scherry, Sue, Nora, Terri, and Linda, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral service 2 p.m. Monday in the East Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. DENNIS, SUE JOANN COCKRUM - passed away to be with the Lord at 1:15 p.m. on January 19, 2001 at Fort Sanders Hospital in Knoxville. She was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church. She was truly a wonderful, unique, Christian woman who leaves many to mourn her passing. She was preceded in death by parents, John and Mary Rines Cockrum and brothers, Major Cockrum, Clarence Cockrum, Tyrus Cockrum, Johnny Cockrum, Leslie Cockrum, and Jethro Cockrum. She leaves her husband of almost 48 years, William (Bill) E. Dennis; children Danny Dennis and wife, Kathy, of Jefferson City; Terri Coleman and husband, Joe of Johnson City, and Susie Finchum and husband, Kenneth of New Market. The lights of her life were her grandchildren, William Coleman, Jodi and Daniel Finchum; step grandchildren include Laura Howell and Angela Scarantino of Durham, NC; step great grandchildren are Jason and Caroline Howell and Anthony Scarantino of Durham, NC. Other survivors include one sister, Mary Poling and husband, Lowell of Knoxville; brothers, George Cockrum and wife, Winnie of Knoxville, Richard Cockrum and wife, Greta of Afton, Dudley Cockrum and wife, Evelyn of Collierville, and Joe Cockrum and wife, Lois of Winston-Salem, NC; many nieces and nephews. Special life long friends are Ralph and Sue White and family of Florence, Ala. Pallbearers include Dr. Tim Frazier, Charles Poling, Rowland White, Stacy Trull, Mark Horner, and Michael Dennis. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews. Joann loved her family passionately and was so loved in return. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother who now rejoices in Heaven. DICKERSON, DR. ROBERT V. - age 83, of North Knoxville, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was the former Pastor of Long Beach Bible Presbyterian Church, Long Beach, Calif., Assistant Pastor of Bible Presbyterian Church of Collinswood, N.J., and Supply Pastor to several churches in the Knoxville area. He was also a Board Member for the Independent Board for Presbyterian Foreign Missions. He was a member of the Bible Presbyterian Church of Knoxville. He was a First Lieutenant in the Air Force, during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Dickerson; daughters and sons-in-law, Beth and Rev. G. W. Fisher, and Debby and Dr. Ed Gross; son and daughter-in-law, William R. and Joan Dickerson; grandchildren, Miriam, Matthew, Joy, Glenn, and Andrew Fisher, Charity, John, Faith, and Hope Gross, John, Emily, Rebecca and Sarah Dickerson; sister, Phyllis Dickerson of Ypsilanti, Mi.; brother, Charles Dickerson of Ypsilanti, Mi. He was preceded in death by parents, Agnes H. and Leroy Douglas, Sr.; brothers, Leroy, Jr., Clarence and Louis Douglas; brother in law, Thomas L. Brown. Survivors: devoted sister, Adele D. Brown; devoted nephews, Clint C. Brown, Melvin, (Bobbie) Douglas of Knoxville, Ronald (Gladys) Douglas, Conyers, Ga., James (Brenda) Douglas, Norfolk, Va.; niece, Carolyn (Lynn) Porterfield, Columbia, SC; several children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; many, many other devoted family members and friends. ELLENBURG, REV. JOHN - age 78 of Knoxville, passed away January 19, 2001 at St. Mary's Medical Center following a short illness. He was a retired minister and an Army veteran of WWII. Preceded in death by brother, Earl Ellenburg. Survived by wife, Betty Ellenburg; sons & daughters in law, Dennis & Linda Ellenburg and John & Lea Ellenburg all of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughters & son in law, Barbara & Billy Rogers of New Orleans, Nancy Pollard of Powell, and Linda Mendenhall of Knoxville; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; brother, Henry Ellenburg of Knoxville; sisters, Mary Louise Beers, Emma Miller both of Knoxville, & Ruth Thompson of Dallas, TX; several nieces & nephews. EVANS, HELEN LOUISE ADKINS - age 49 of Jacksboro passed away Friday, January 19, 2001 at St. Mary's Health System Knoxville. She was a member of High Street Baptist Church LaFollette. Preceded in death by parents Namon Levi and Pearl Byrge Adkins. Survivors: son, Jonathan Alexander Evans; grandsons, Ryan and Jonathan Jr. Evans, all of LaFollette; granddaughter, Sara Evans, LaFollette; brothers, Harry Lee Brown, James Adkins, and Louis Adkins all of LaFollette and Thomas Adkins of Mt. Vernon, Ky.; sisters, Mary Heatherly, Jacksboro and Ruby Adkins of LaFollette; many other relatives and friends. Funeral service 8 p.m. Sunday January 21, 2001 at Cross Chapel. Rev. FAULKNER, BEATRICE JUANITA - age 72, of Strawberry Plains, passed away at 2:45 p.m. Saturday afternoon, January 20, 2001, at the Life Care Center of Jefferson City. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City.

FLYNN, JOE HAROLD - age 69, of Knoxville, finished his final earthly project on Thursday, January 18, 2001 at St. Mary's Hospital. Mr. Flynn was a member of Central Baptist Church, Fountain City. He was retired from Barber and McMurray Architects, Inc. and was Owner of Flynn Pedal Steel Guitars. He loved to talk to everyone about the steel guitar. Sponsor of Knoxville Steel Guitar Conventions. He was Project Manager for The Ronald McDonald House and served for twelve years as a Board Member. He was Chief Project Manager for the 1982 World's Fair and The T.V.A. Towers. He admired people who held his work ethic, "work today as hard as you can, there might not be a tomorrow." His parents, Dewey and Cecil Flynn, three brothers, Robert, Jack and Mitchell Flynn preceded Mr. Flynn in death. Survivors include his cherished wife, Lynn B. Flynn; children and spouses, Connie and Mike, Dan and Lynne, Theresa and Chris, Elisabeth and Jack, Susan and Bob; nine grandchildren, Becky, Jenny, Amy, Andy and John Vandergriff, Hunter and Heath Baird, Sarah and Hannah Abernathy that will miss "Grand Daddy Flynn"; brothers, Dwight and wife, Barbara, George, Lowell and wife, Betty; sister, Trula Beazley and husband, Gail; sister-in-law, Doris Flynn; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Sunday at Mynatt's Funeral Home. Family and friends will meet at Mynatt's by 10:30 a.m. Monday and proceed to Lynnhurst cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service, Dr. Fred Layman and Dan Baird officiating. FRANK, MINNIE BELL - age 76, widow of Junior (Bug) Frank of Akron, Ohio, formerly of Monroe Co., passed away Thursday, January 18, 2001, at her home. Survivors: daughters, Christine Frank of Akron, Ohio and Gloria Morgan of Uniontown, Ohio; sons and daughters-in-law, Phillip and Donna Frank of Grand Island, N.Y., and Randy and Pam Frank of Dover, Ohio; grandchildren, Lindsay, Hannah, Morgan, Michelle and Brian; several sisters and brothers. She worked at Adecco Staffing Service. Preceded in death by grandmothers, Oasey Badgett and Pearl Gibson; aunt, Edna Caldwell. GRAYSON, JOSEPH DANIEL - age 66 of Lenoir City, passed away Friday evening, January 19, 2001, at St. Mary's Hospital. Joe was born on October 23, 1934 in Etowah to Frank and Swannie Grayson. He was a graduate of McMinn County High School and the UT College of Pharmacy in Memphis. Joe was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Lenoir City. He was former owner of Suburban Drug in Knoxville and former co owner of Lenoir Drug and the House of Gifts, both in Lenoir City. Joe was a member of the Lenoir City Civitan Club and Avery Lodge #593 F&AM. He was a former Mayor of Lenoir City from 1970-1976, a former Lenoir City Council member from 1966-1970, a former Chairman of Lenoir City Schools from 1970-1976, a former chairman of the Lenoir City Utilities Board, a former board member for the West Knoxville YMCA and the John T. O'Conner Center, and was a member of and past president for the Tenn. Pharmaceutical Assoc. At the time of his death he was on the Board of Directors of First National Bank of Loudon County. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Kathryn Harrod and Jean Snyder; brothers, Robert and Calvin Grayson. Survivors: wife of 44 years, Patricia Penland Grayson; sons, Mark Grayson of Knoxville, Todd Grayson and wife, Beth of Hendersonville, Tenn.; granddaughters, Megan Blanck and Rachel and Anna Grayson; sisters, Dorothy Donaldson, Geraldine Erwin and Mildred Lay all of Cleveland; brother, Thomas Grayson of Athens; mother in law, Zora Penland; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday followed by funeral services at 7:15 p.m. in the Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. C. Mark Gooden officiating. HURST, JACK L. - age 69 of Morristown, passed away Friday morning at Ft. Sanders Medical Center. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Morristown. He was retired from E. Tenn. Packing Co. after 43 years of service. He at present was a part time sales person for Clinch River Distributors. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Army. Survived by wife of 47 years, Norma Lusby Hurst of Morristown; daughter and son in law, Laura and James Broyles of Talbott; son and daughter in law, Phil and Pam Hurst of Morristown; grandsons, Andy and Lawton; sisters, Evelyn McClure of Waynesville, NC, Jessie Glenn of Kodak, Faye Kennedy of Knoxville, Geraldine Littrell of Leciester, NC, Gertha Hurst of Knoxville, Dora Barnes of Knoxville, and Vickie Masterson of Knoxville; brothers, Dewey of Seymour and Mike Hurst of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will meet 11:45 a.m. Monday for graveside services at 12 noon at Asbury cemetery. Rev. Larry K. Best and Rev. Dwight L. Kenney officiating. A memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Monday evening at Centenary United Methodist Church in Morristown. Active pallbearers will be nephews.
