MATLOCK, CHARLES RICHARD - age 49, of Lenoir City, passed away suddenly Tuesday, January 30, 2001, in Washington, D.C. Richard served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam as a military policeman. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles J. Matlock. Survivors: daughter, Tara Matlock of Knoxville; mother, Norma Scott of Jackson, Miss.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul R. and Laurin Matlock of Jackson, Miss., David and Dee Dee Matlock of Lenoir City; sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Jim Leal of Pigeon Forge; several nieces and nephews. She was retired from Levi Strauss & Co., and served many years as Union President of the United Garment Workers of America, Local 402. Preceded in death by husband, James D. McCLUNEY, MRS. SALLIE J. THOMPSON - of Knoxville, born April 30, 1910, in Strawberry Plains, departed this life at Fort Sanders Hospital at 5:30 a.m., January 30, 2001. She was preceded in death by parents, Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Thompson; husband, Ben McCluney; five brothers and two sisters; devoted nephew, Bobby Thompson. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Byron and Polly Underwood. She is survived by her husband, Jackson N. Wilson; step daughters, Kima Riding and Janice Knox; two step grandchildren, Kendahl Knox and Dylan Brown; several cousins.
