GOLLIHER, MR. BLAYNE W. - age 64, of the Mt. Vernal Community, Rockwood, passed away Friday, February 2, 2001, at the Methodist Medical Center, Oak Ridge, after a brief illness. He was a member of the Mt. Vernal Baptist Church, past Board Member of the Westel Volunteer Fire Department, Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop #207 of Ozone, member of the U.S. National Guard, and a carpenter. He was preceded in death by father, John W. Golliher; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lloyd and Ethel Bryant. He is survived by wife, Barbara Bryant Golliher of Rockwood; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Deidra Golliher of Rockwood; daughter and son-in-law, Arlene and Stan McCarter of Sevierville; grandchildren, Jamie Lee Golliher of Rockwood, Rustin and Tish Grayson of Crossville, Kelly and Logan McCarter of Sevierville; great-granddaughter, Katlyn Grayson of Crossville; mother, Frances Golliher of Rockwood; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dean and Claude Long, Mary and Virgil Rayder, Rhea and Frances Bryant, and Pauline Robinson, all of Rockwood, and Jimmy and Barbara Bryant of Seguin, Texas; sister-in-law, Linda Pickel of Kingston, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and special friends. Graveside services and interment icon was held in the Oak Grove cemetery Sunday at 3 p.m. with Rev. Mike Nelson and Rev. Jake Fisher officiating. The family received friends from 1-3 p.m. Sunday at Evans Mortuary, prior to the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, the family request, donations be made in Blayne's memory to the Westel Volunteer Fire Dept., 459 Williams Road, Rockwood, TN 37854.

HANDLEY, ELSIE E. HITCH - age 74, of Maryville, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2001, at Blount Memorial Hospital. Preceded in death by parents, Earl H. Sr. and Bonnie Ray Hitch. She was a member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors include husband of 51 years, Raymond Handley; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Linda Handley, Lee and Cory Handley, all of Maryville; grandchildren, Stephanie and Brian Handley of Maryville, Stacie Handley of Seymour; brother, Earl "Bud" Jr. and Venetia Hitch of Las Vegas, Nev.; niece, Gail Hinshaw of Las Vegas, Nev.; nephew, Gary Sine of MI. Funeral service will be 7:30 p.m. Monday, February 5, 2001, in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. Glenn Grubb officiating. Family and friends will assemble for the interment icon at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2001, at Grandview cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Monday in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 983-1000.

HART, MR. JOHN RONALD - age 66, of 4422 Singletree Lane, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2001, at the Evergreens Nursing Center. Mr. Hart was born January 17, 1935, in Middlesboro, Ky., a son to John Rhea and Lois Bailey Hart. He was formerly of Knoxville, before moving to High Point in 1966. Mr. Hart was the Owner/Operator of Hart Construction Company, Inc., and had formerly worked with Alma Desk Company. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, where he served as a former Sunday School Teacher, former choir member and past president of the United Methodist Men. He was a member of the American Business Men's Association, former commissioner of Little League Baseball in High Point, former State Scribe for the Order of Demolay, a member of the High Point Elks Lodge and had also served in the U.S. Army Reserve. On March 24, 1956, he was married to the former Patricia Robertson who survives, of the home. Also surviving are a daughter, Candace "Candy" Hart Burrow and her husband, Scott of High Point; a son, Brian Russell "Rusty" Hart of Charlotte; three grandchildren, Brittany Camile Burrow, Megan Scott Burrow and Brian Christopher Burrow, and three sisters, Yvonne Sorey, Anne Hart and Lynn Bowlby, all of Knoxville. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jenny Reid. A memorial service was held 3 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2001, at Christ United Methodist Church, officiated by Dr. Glenn L. Myers, Jr. and Rev. Lloyd G. Hunsucker. A Committal service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2001, at the Old Grace Presbyterian Church on Northshore Dr. in Knoxville, officiated by Mr. Flonze Sorey. Memorials may be directed to the Christ United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1300 N. College Dr., High Point, NC 27265, or to the Alzheimer's Association, 3420 Shamrock Dr., Charlotte, NC 28215. Cumby Family Funeral Service, in High Point, is serving the Hart family.

HEALEY, KEVIN MICHAEL - age 44, of Knoxville, formerly of Melbourne, Fla., passed away Friday, February 2, 2001, at his home. Kevin was employed as a painter. He attended the Church of God Union Assembly. Kevin is survived by his three daughters, Amanda, Erin, and Kaitlin of Manitowoc, Wisc.; his mother, Dorothea Healey of Melbourne, Fla., his father and step mother, Tom and Gloria Healey of Satellite Beach, Fla.; brother, Geoffery Healey and family serving in the U.S. Army in Germany; fiancee' Joan Lindsey and her children, Ashley and Martha of Knoxville; his adoptive family, Charlie, Billy, Brian, Lisa, and James, all of Knoxville, and step sisters, Luisa Mack of Satellite Beach, Fla., Renee Davis and Tina Mooney, both of Melbourne, Fla. The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 6-7:45 with a funeral service to follow at 8 p.m. in the Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel with Rev. David Simmons officiating. Kevin will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Click Funeral Home, Farragut Chapel, 11915 Kingston Pike, is serving the Healey family.

INMAN, CATHERINE (KATHY) MAE HICKS BAGWELL - age 41, of Sweetwater, Tenn., passed away Sunday, February 4, 2001, at Sweetwater Hospital. She was a member of Burl's Freewill Baptist Church. She was with the school system for nine years and was a cook at Brown's Elementary School. Preceded in death by her grandparents, Elijah and Mae Belle Hicks, and Carl and Lillie Hicks. Survivors include husband, Billy Inman of Sweetwater; parents, Raymond and Naomi Hicks of Sweetwater; sisters and brothers-in-law, Debbie and Phil Human of Maryville, Charlotte Blankenship of Old Hickory, Tenn., and Robin and Tim Leonard of Sweetwater; mother and father-in-law, Roy and Gail Inman of Sweetwater; several nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins. The body is at Kyker Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends Monday, February 5, from 6-8 p.m. with the funeral to follow at 8 p.m. in Kyker's Chapel with Rev. Doug Easter officiating. The interment icon will be Tuesday, February 6, at 10 a.m. in Sweetwater Valley Memorial Park.

JOHNSTON, CLIFTON L. - passed away Sunday, February 4, 2001, after a struggle with cancer. He was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church and the Al Curtis Orchestra, as a fine pop and jazz pianist. Survived by wife, Helen Willoughby Johnston; daughters, Pat Treadwell and Judi Low; step children, Doug Mathis and Sandi Lichtwardt; grandchildren, Randall Treadwell, Leesa Chamblis, David and Danny Garner and Anna Donohue. Funeral service 7 p.m. Monday, Eastminster Presbyterian Church, Rev. Doug Mathis officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eastminster Music Fund. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Monday at the church. Mynatt's, in charge.

JONES, BETTY JEANNE - age 73, of Knoxville, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2001, at NHC St. Mary's. Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Robin Jones; grandchildren, Michael Bourne and Amanda Jones; great-grandchildren, Tyler Jones and Austin Jones. Arrangements by Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Hwy.

JOYCE, MAMIE "ESTELLE" - age 68, of Clinton, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2001, at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. She received her B.S. Degree from the University of Tennessee and her Masters Degree from Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Virginia. Mrs. Joyce was a schoolteacher for 32 years in Lynchburg, Virginia and taught for 6 years at Highland View School in Oak Ridge. She was a member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Oak Ridge, where she served on Alter Guild and was active with Daughters of the King and Hospitality Committee. She was a member of Clinton Timely Topics and the Garden Club. She was also very active with Clinton Public Library. She volunteered her services at the Hospitality House of the Methodist Hospital Foundation in Oak Ridge and A.D.F.A.C., (Aid to Distress Families of Anderson County). Mrs. Joyce enjoyed meeting monthly with her friends, "Monday Thing" in Oak Ridge. Preceded in death by parents, Norris C. and Dora H. Hendrix. Born April 27, 1933, in Toxey, Alabama. Survivors: husband, John C. Joyce of Clinton; daughter, Elizabeth Magri of Islamorada, Florida (teacher at Plantation Key Middle School in Tavernier, Florida); granddaughters, Samantha Itri of Islamorada, Florida, and Angela Itri of Islamorada, Florida; brother, Norris C. Hendrix and wife Margaret of Knoxville. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 7, at St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Oak Ridge with Rev. Dr. Craig M. Kallio presiding. Interment icon will follow in church garden. The family request that no flowers be sent. KIRKWOOD, ROBERT - of Knoxville, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2001, at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center. He was the father of Joyce Sumpter. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Jarnigan & Son Mortuary.

LIGHT, REV. MAYNARD RAYMOND - age 80, of East Wolfe Valley Rd., Heiskell, Tenn., passed away Saturday, February 3, 2001, at St. Marys Medical Center. Rev. Light was a member and helper in the organization of Greenway Fundamental Baptist Church. He also pastored the following churches in Anderson County, Old Pleasant Gap Baptist Church, Grace Baptist Church, and Charity Baptist Church. Retired as a welder and millwright operator with Con-Agra in Knoxville. Preceded in death by his parents, Orgia Light and Maggie Sloan Adams. Also preceded in death by brothers, Howard Light, Fred Light, Clyde Adams, Herman Light, and Lloyd Light. Survivors: wife, Regina "Dean" Light of Heiskell, Tenn.; daughters, Sue Walton of Heiskell, Tenn., and Jane and her husband, Paul Ray Martin of Heiskell, Tenn.; sons, David and his wife Wanda Light of Clinton, Ted and his wife Janet Light of Heiskell, Danny and his wife Debbie Light of Heiskell, and Darrell and his wife Lisa Light of Heiskell; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ella and her husband Fred Keeney of Heiskell, Betty and her husband Robert Smith of Heiskell, and Imogene Strickler of Kingsport. Tenn.; brothers, Raymond and his wife Gay Light of Franklin, Tenn., Lowell and his wife Martha Adams of Heiskell, Charles Adams of Heiskell and Bill and his wife Marie Adams of Powell, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, Holley-Gamble Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Eddie Chastine and Rev. Darrell Griffis officiating. Interment icon will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Greenway Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton.

LONG, MRS. EDNA BREEDING - age 94, of Tazewell, Tenn., was born May 18, 1906, and passed away February 3, 2001, at the Claiborne County Hospital. She was a member of the Atlanthus Hill Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Joan Leonard Breeding. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Long; two brothers, Pat and Ezra; two sisters, Edith Young and Pauline Townsend. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Bobbie and Jerry Cosby of Tazewell, Tenn.; grandson, Jerry Cosby and wife, Tisha of Las Vegas, Nev.; great-grandson, Parker Chase Cosby of Las Vegas, Nev.; special family friend, Dr. Selden Daniel of Auburn, Ala.; special friends, Viola Daniel of Ewing, Va., Evelyn Brooks of Tazewell, Tenn., Mattie Lee Western of New Tazewell, Tenn., Wanda Sue and Scott Perry of Tazewell, Tenn. Nursing Home room mate and friend, Callimae Venable of New Tazewell, Tenn.; several cousins and other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday February 5, 2001, with funeral services to follow at 7 p.m. in the Claiborne Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eddie Overholt and Rev. Leonard Brooks officiating. Music by Mt. Zion Singers. Graveside services 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2001, in the Breeding cemetery. Pallbearers: Pat Brooks, Avery Brooks, Joe McDaniel, Mike Cosby, Gordon Cosby, Jerry Mullins, Donnie Henderson, and John Bailey. Honorary pallbearers: all employees from Claiborne County Nursing Home. Claiborne Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

MAPLES, OLIVER KENNETH - age 82, of Sevierville, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2001. He was a Veteran of World War II, and a member of Am Vets Post 7. He was retired from Blalock Brothers Construction Company. He was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by wife, Martha Williams Maples; infant daughter, Sallie Mae; parents, Arlie and Ethel Townsend Maples; brother, Victor Maples; sister, Minnie Watson. Survivors: daughter, Ruth Lawson, of the home; granddaughter, Misty Maples Price and friend, Wade of Russellville; great-grandson, Seth Daniel Laughner; sister and brother-in-law, Nelle and Mynatt Spence; brothers and sisters-in-law, Freeman and Kate Maples, and Paul and Beula Maples, all of Sevierville. Special friends, Marie Trentham, and Dottie and Jack Holbert; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 7 p.m. Monday in Atchley's Smoky Mountain Chapel with Rev. Andy Ball and Rev. Sam Hinchey officiating. Interment icon 11 a.m. Tuesday in Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens. MARTIN, MRS. MINNIE BELL - of 502 Fern Street, passed away Friday, February 2, 2001. Born to James and Canie Lee in Gafney, S.C., March 6, 1905. She was a faithful member of College Hill Seventh Day Adventist Church. She loved doing for others, her church and her family. She was preceded in death by husband, Alfred Martin; daughter, Overa Tinsley. She leaves to cherish her memories, devoted daughters, Pauline Weaver Starks Hunt of New York, Jean Randle (Albert) Palatine of Illinois, Betty Rose (Rev. James) Cotner of Knoxville; grandchildren, Dr. D'mitri Starks of Upland, Calif., Minnie Ruth (Claude) Littlejohn of Knoxville, Carol Martin of Knoxville, Paulette Martin of Chicago, Ill., Rosa Leah (Walter) Brown of St. Petersburg, Fla., Rev. Bruce (Leisa) Martin of Louisville, Ky., Lavern (Charles) Brown of Knoxville; 20 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; very devoted friends, Elder Vincent E. NORTON, MARY ANNA DAVIS - age 87, of Wayland Road, Knoxville, passed away Sunday morning, February 4, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Ora Caroline Davis of Grainger County. Preceded in death by husband, James Blaine Norton; brothers, Dial, Bud and Bug Davis; sister, Ruby Davis. Survived by son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Susan Norton; granddaughter, Erin Norton; sister, Jean Davis of Rutledge, and other relatives and many friends. Funeral service will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, Gentry-Griffey Chapel, Rev. Archie Elliott and Dr. Pete Rowlett officiating. Graveside services 10 a.m. Wednesday, East View Memory Gardens, Andrew Johnson Hwy. Memorials may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church. PATE, MARGARET EARNESTINE (MAMMAW) - age 61, of Knoxville, went to be with Jesus Saturday, February 3, 2001, 11:15 a.m. at St. Mary's Hospital. She was a member of Linden Baptist Church. Survivors include husband of 43 years Royal Pate, Sr.; sons and daughter-in-law, Royal and Judy Pate, Jr., of Knoxville, Richard and Leslie Pate of Jefferson City; granddaughters, Amber and Melina; sister, Sue Williams and brother, John Cannon. both of Knoxville; special family members, sister-in-law, Rae Reynolds; nieces, Beverly Morgan and Kelly Spurgeon; special nieces and nephews, Uncle, Clarence Hickman. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m., Monday, February 5, 2001, at McCarty's Evergreen Chapel, with burial to follow in Cate's cemetery, Dumplin Valley, Rev. George Prince officiating. POPE, JAMES NOEL - age 69, of Niota, Tenn., passed away Sunday morning, February 4, 2001, at Athens Regional Medical Center. She was a native and life long resident of McMinn Co., the son of the late E. J. and Anna Lou Hill Pope. He was the former President of Principals Association, former President of Niota Ruritan Club, former commissioner of Niota City Finance and Police, former Sunday School Teacher and member of Niota First Baptist Church; former member of Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity, and former member of the Etowah Jaycees. He received a B.S. from Tennessee Tech, and a M.S. from the University of Tennessee. He was the former Principal of Niota Elementary School for 25 years, and the former Principal of Union Grove School for 5 years. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving in the Korean War. Preceded in death by parents and stepfather, George Blair. Survivors: wife of 47 years, Jenny Brackett Pope of Niota; daughter and son-in-law, Jenny Lou and David Tucker of Calhoun, Tenn.; grandsons, Jim and Jon Tucker; sister and brother-in-law, Joann and Wayne Sharp of Gatlinburg, Tenn.; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Anne Brackett of Minneapolis, Minn.; nieces, Robbie Sharp of Sevierville, Jackie Kirby, Lisa Wytosick and Debbie Pixler of South Dakota. Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. Tuesday in the south chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home, Rev. Mike Farmer presiding. Family and friends will assemble at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Niota cemetery for the committal service. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Niota First Baptist Church or Spring Creek United Methodist Church in Calhoun, Tenn.. Bordwine Funeral Home, in charge of arrangements.
