ANDERSON, NANCY CAROLYN - age 78, of Knoxville, TN., formerly of Roanoke, Va., died Tues. Feb. 6, 2001, at the home of her daughter. She was a retired accounting clerk with City of Roanoke. She was a dedicated and loving mother to her daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Kent Ray of Knoxville; grandson, Matthew Wheeler of Knoxville; special friend, Charles Crouch of Roanoke, Va.; brothers, James D. Gravely of Roanoke, Va., and Chester R. Gravely of Ridge Manor, Fla. Interment icon will be private. A memorial service will be held Sat. in Roanoke, Va. Local arrangements by Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel.

BROCK, GLADYS HENRY - 96 of Charleston and a long time member of a prominent Bradley County family, died Thurs. morning at Shannondale Health Care Center. A native of Meigs County, she was a daughter of the late W.W. and Bertha Darwin Henry and was preceded in death by her husband, Terry H. Brock; a son, Terry Darwin Brock; two granddaughters, Ann Nichol and Gayle Brock and a grandson, Michael Nichol. She was the oldest living member of Charleston United Methodist Church. She and her late husband, owned and operated the T.H. Brock General Merchandise Store in Charleston for many years. Surviving are two daughters and one son in law, Mildred B. and Russell Myers and Jean Nichol, all of Knoxville; daughter in law, Mildred Brock, Memphis; seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson, sister, Pauline Peck, Charleston; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside funeral service will be conducted 11:30 a.m. Sat. at Calhoun cemetery with Rev. Edwin Mitchell and Rev. Matthew Trussell officiating. Family will receive friends at the Charleston United Methodist Church immediately following the service. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Charleston United Methodist Church, Charleston, Tenn. 37310. Jerry Smith Funeral Home of Athens is serving the family of Gladys Henry Brock.

CAMPBELL, PHYLLIS SCHOOLFIELD - of Knoxville, passed away suddenly at her residence on Tues. Feb. 6, 2001. She was a member of Arlington Church of Christ. A retired Knox County Schoolteacher, and she held several offices with AARP Chapter 85. She was a member of the East TN Historical Society, UT Alumni Association, Council on Aging and TN Federation of the Aging. She also was a Grand Dame with the Clan Campbell Society, N.A., and a lifetime member of Phi Delta Kappa Sorority. She is preceded in death by husband, James F. Campbell; parents, Lurton and Beulah Schoolfield; sisters, Frances and Beulah Schoolfield; sons-in-law, Tom Keene and Lynn Guthrie. Survived by sons and daughters-in-law, James N. and Suki Campbell of Knoxville, Robert F. and Dartha Campbell of Folkston, Ga.; daughter, Catherine Guthrie of Knoxville; grandchildren, Michael and Meredith Campbell of Washington State, Anna Leah Keene, Tommy Keene and Mimi Campbell of Knoxville; great-grandson, Matthew Campbell of Wash. FRANCE, MONROE DUKES - age 67, of Strawberry Plains, passed away Thurs., Feb. 8, 2001, at Baptist Hospital. He was a member of Mascot Baptist Church, where he taught the Senior Adult Sunday School Class for many years and was the owner and operator of France Block Company. He was the son of the late, George and Gartha Mae France. Survived by help mate of 47 years, Nancy of Strawberry Plains; children, Angie, G.W. and Nancy Ann; siblings, Mary Nell Taylor, Louise Harkelroad, and George and Burnette France; several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will meet at Eastview Memorial Gardens, Sat., for a 10 a.m. graveside service with Rev. Lewis Thomas and Rev. Charlie Harkelroad officiating. GRAVES, MRS. HAZEL - 79, of Maynardville, passed away Wed., Jan. 31, 2001, at Sunbridge Care and Rehab Center of Maynardville. Hazel was born on Jan. 15, 1922, and was a lifelong resident of Maynardville, and a long time member of New Friendship Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry (Pete) Reber Graves, her son, R.J. Graves, and her grandson, Glenn Michael Graves. Hazel was a loving woman who was always caring for family and friends in their times of need. Throughout her life, her church and family were the things she held closest to her heart.Survivors include daughter-in-law, Doralee Graves of Albuquerque, N.M.; granddaughters, Robyn (Ryan) Cue of Denver, CO., Amber (Eddie) Graves of Las Vegas, NV., and five great-grandchildren, Jade and Mariah Cue, Alexandria, Jacob, and Branden Graves; also surviving her are nephews, Howard Hensley, Gilbert Hensley, Kenneth Hensley, Larry Helton, Jerry Helton and Eddie Corum. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie & Harriett Russell & sons, Charles & Johnny Kiestler. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Guy S. Kiestler of Strawberry Plains; son, James and his wife Katheline Kiestler of Knoxville; daughters, Paulette Howard of Strawberry Plains, Betty & husband Tys Underwood of Kodak; daughter-in-law, Shelia Kiestler; grandsons & their spouses, Chris & Nicole Underwood, Travis & Missy Kiestler, John & Cassie Kiestler, Keith & Kim Underwood, J. T. & Denise Kiestler, Mike & Donna Kiestler & Kevin Underwood, Tim Maples, & Jason & Wes Kiestler; granddaughters & spouses, Tina & Bill Howard, Joann & Perry McMahan, Tammy & David Eldridge; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Burnette of Powder Springs & Sue Mynatt of Knoxville, & special brother-in-law, E. J. Kiestler, & many other family & friends. Mrs. Kiestler lived in Strawberry Plains since 1950, where she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Strawberry Plains. Smith of Powell; brother, Joseph Lindell Smith and wife, Mozelle of Houston, TX; sister, Margaret Catherine Stevenson, New Mexico; 4 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren.
