Preceded in death by wife, Isabel King Horner. Survivors: nieces, Maryland Blanchard, Inez Starke, and Irene Highsmith, all of Virginia; special friends, Grace Ott, Jeanette Dennis, and Gary and Kathy Cate, all of Knoxville. Funeral service 3 p.m. Sunday at Stevens Mortuary Chapel. Dr. James Robertson officiating. Family and friends will meet at the entrance to Lynnhurst cemetery on Monday at 10:45 a.m. for an 11 a.m. graveside service and interment. Honorary pallbearers: Gary Cate, Mark Stack, Joe Atkins, Jack Wright, and Rev. Walker Kitts. Memorials may be made to Sharon Baptist church Building fund, 7916 Pedigo Road, Knoxville, Tenn. 37938. HUGHES, SISTER MARY JOLITA - age 65, died Thursday morning February 22, 2001. She graduated Knoxville Catholic High School and entered the Sisters of mercy in 1953. Sister Mary Jolita went on to graduate from the University of Tennessee where she received her Masters degree and completed post graduate work at Notre Dame University. She was an elementary school teacher in Tennessee's Catholic Schools and was currently teaching a fifth grade class at St. Joseph School in Knoxville. Preceded in death by her parents, P. Joseph Hughes and Mary Prickett Hughes. Her survivors include two sisters and brothers in law, Mary Catherine & George Willard, Therese and Pat Hurley all of Knoxville; eleven nieces and nephews; and Sisters of Mercy at St. Mary's Hospital in Knoxville. Funeral Mass 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church with Bishop Joseph Kurtz, Homilist Father Xavier Mankel, and Priests of the Diocese officiating. Funeral Mass and burial 10 a.m. CST Tuesday at Mercy Convent, Nashville. Pallbearers: Patrick, Michael & Ned Willard, Danny MacDonald, Brian & Dale Hurley, Jordan Lera, Jim Schmalz, Kenny Kidner, John Aslinger, and Chris Murray. Faculty member of St. Joseph School will serve as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph School, 1810 Howard Rd., Knoxville, Tenn. 37918. The family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. Sunday with a 5:30 p.m. Rosary led by St. Joseph's 5th grade class and 7-9 p.m. with an 8:30 p.m. Service of Christian Prayer at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel.

JONES, ANNA BELLE BEAN - age 90, of North Knoxville, died Friday morning February 23, 2001. She was a member of City View Baptist Church and had worked for Kiddie Kollege Child Care for 61 years. Preceded in death by her husbands, Tom Jones and Odell Bean; and grandson, David Bean. Her survivors include her sons, Donald R. Bean of San Diego, Calif. and Harold E. (Buddy) Bean of Maryville; stepson, Rev. Joel Jones of Springfield, Tenn.; grandchildren, Tammy Theresa, Karen and Gail and two great grandchildren. The family would like to extend special thanks to Miss Mary at Kiddie Kollege and to JoAnn Patty. Funeral service 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel with Rev. Joel Jones officiating. JONES, BETTY LOU - age 61 of Knoxville, passed away Friday Feb. 23, 2001 at St. Mary's Medical Center. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors: husband, Robert Jones; son, Darryl Jones; mother in law & father in law, Florence & Ray Moore; sister in law, Helen Parrish; brother in law, Dennis R. Jones. Family & friends will meet at Tennessee State Veterans cemetery 11:45 a.m. Tuesday for graveside services at 12 noon with Rev. Hubert Troutman officiating. KESTERSON, ACIE ELIZABETH - age 90 of Clinton, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2001 at Windwood Health Care Center. She was a former employee of Magnet Mills in Clinton. She was a member of Clinton First Wesleyan Church. Born July 21, 1910 in Oliver Springs, Tenn. Preceded in death by parents, Charley & Sabra Jones; husband, Hubert Sylvester Kesterson; daughters, Dorothy Josephine Kesterson, Lou Jean Riddell; son, Curtis Daniel Kesterson; brothers, J.T. Jones, Paul Jones; sisters, Geneva Disney, Louise Jones. Survivors: sons, Robert Lewis & wife, Alice Kesterson of Leesburg, Fla., Carl Reece & wife, Juanita Kesterson of Clinton, Melvin Stanley & wife, Wanda Kesterson of Richmond, Va., Hubert Larry & wife, Pauline Kesterson of Clinton; daughter in law, Vicki Kesterson of Dandridge; son in law, Terrance Riddel of TX; 18 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sister, Pauline Ivey of Clinton; several nieces and nephews. McCARTER, KENNETH - age 91 of Caryville, Tenn. passed away Saturday February 24, 2001 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Knoxville, Tenn. He was born September 29, 1909 in Campbell Co. Tenn. Kenneth was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is preceded in death by twin daughters, Eva and Neva McCarter; sons, Condon McCarter and Paul McCarter; a granddaughter and great granddaughter; parents, Minyard and Mettie Oakley McCarter; brothers, Creed McCarter, Bruce Ogle, and Coy McCarter; sister, Ersa Luke, and son in law, Don Dunn. McCARTT, DOROTHY - age 71 of Kingston passed away Thursday February 22, 2001 at Ft. Sanders Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville. She was a member of the Harriman United Methodist Church and the Republican Women's Association. Preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Moody McCartt. Survivors, daughter , Mary McCartt Weyant of Clifton, Va.; son, Robert Moody McCartt of Harriman; brother, Jack H. Sentell of Mobil, Ala.; grandchildren, Matthew, Emily, and Timothy. Funeral 3 p.m. Sunday in Kyker Chapel with the Rev. Donnie Hutchins officiating. Burial will following the Harriman City cemetery. MUNSEY, ALIENE NEWBERRY - age 78 of Lenoir City passed away early Saturday morning February 24, 2001 at U.T. Medical Center. Aliene was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin T. (Frank) Munsey; parents, Lon and Ella King Newberry; brother, Paul Newberry; sisters, Rosa Petty and Nellie Skinner. She is survived by a special nephew, Jack Skinner of Lenoir City and several other nephews and nieces. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. NORRIS, MINNIE DRINNON DUCK - of New Market and Grand Court, was born February 14, 1913 and passed away February 22, 2001 at Morristown, Hamblen Hospital. A native of Hamblen County, Minnie owned Air-Way Tourist Court and Restaurant in Russellville. In later years she and Dave retired to the farm in Jefferson County. she loved her flowers, cats, her collie dogs and cattle. She enjoyed making cottage cheese and butter; picking up chestnuts and walnuts and sharing this with her friends. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dave Norris; parents, W.K. and Mary Ann Drinnon; brothers and sisters, Tom, Bill, Amos, Jess, Wiley, Jim, Clifford, Nora, Daisy and Sarah. Survivors include; daughter, Jeana; sisters, Ethel Perkey, Ada Burke; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Teresa Murph, Teresa Whittaker, Annie Rines, Sylvia Cox, Lillie Moore and Betty Rippetoe. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Mayes Mortuary. The funeral service will be a t 8 p.m. Sunday following the visitation. The Rev. Scott Collins and Rev. Clifford Blanken will officiate. Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, at the Bethesda cemetery. Mayes Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

OGDEN, WILLIAM HENRY (BILL) - age 82 of Knoxville passed away Thursday, February 22, 2001 at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was the husband of Elizabeth Searle (Betsy) Ogen (deceased) and the father of Susan and Apolinar Calderon, Trudy and Jacob James, Linda Holt, James Ogden and Tim and Stephanie Ogden. Bill and Betsy were "Dad Dad and Manu" to grandchildren, Doug Holt, David Calderon, SSGT Lisa Calderon Snyder, Marcos Calderon, Tom Holt, Tim Ogden, Jr., Stephen Ogden, Courtney James, Laura Ogden and Amelia James and five great grandchildren. Bill was a World War II veteran and retired from TVA after more than forty years of service. Bill was an elder and Chairman of the Board at the Sullivan Road Christian Church. He helped to establish the Christian Church of Fountain City, Woodlawn Christian Church, Claxton Christian Church, Clinton Christian Church and Halls Christian Church. He was a founding member and served on the boards of the Smoky Mountain Christian Men's Fellowship, the Campus Christian Ministry at UT, The Way Mission, Smoky Mountain Christian Camp and Mission Services Association. Bill also supported numerous Bible Colleges, church agencies and missionaries. The memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2001 at Gentry-Griffey Funeral Chapel, Dr. David L. Eubanks and Mr. Larry Woods officiating. Interment icon will be Monday, February 26, 2001 at 11 a.m. at Greenwood cemetery, Mr. Paul Trumpore officiating. Pallbearers are Tim Ogden, Jr., Stephen Ogden, Jim Bennett, Bobby Ogden, Dan Searle and Shawn Province. Sam Dalton will serve as honorary pallbearer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to Johnson Bible College.

OGG, ETHEL WOODARD - age 92, went to be with her Lord on February 1, 2001. Preceded in death by husband, Cullom Ogg. Survived by son, Rev. Jerald Ogg, Sr., former pastor of Evangel Temple Assembly of God Church in Knoxville; daughter, Jenell O. Mueller; brother, Hayden Woodard; grandchildren, Jerald Ogg, Jr., Judy O. Morren, Rev. Jeff Ogg, Jim Ogg; eight great grandchildren. Friends were received Saturday, February 3rd, and Sunday, February 4th at Madison Funeral Home. Services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 5th at Cornerstone Church in Madison, and interment icon was at Spring Hill cemetery. A memorial service was held at Kailua Assembly of God Church in Kailua, Hawaii on Friday, February 23rd, where her son, Rev. Jerald Ogg pastors.

PARRIS, ROBERT, JR. - of Knoxville departed this life Saturday February 24, 2001 at UT Hospital. Son of Robert & Vickie Parris, 4005 Alma Ave.; grandson of Rev. Dexter & Getrude Jordan. Complete survivors and arrangements to be announced at a later date by Jarnigan & Son Mortuary.

RIDNER, TOM, JR. - age 60 of Powell died Thursday February 22, 2001 at St. Mary's Residential Hospice Center. He was a member of Callahan Road Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Myrtle Hicks Ridner. Survived by his daughters, Karen Verklas & Donna Douglas; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brothers & sisters, James & Barbara Ridner, Bob & Wanda Ridner, Bill & Linda Ridner; special friend, Helen Turner; and several longtime friends at Norfolk & Southern where he was employed for 31 years. STOKES, ROY L. - age 74, of Dunkirk, NY, formerly of Knoxville, passed away suddenly, Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001. Born in Knoxville, Oct. 25, 1926, to the late Robert & Sadie (Leinart) Stokes. Upon graduating from Young High School in 1945, he entered the service. He received a Master's degree in Bacteriology from the University of Tennessee in 1953, and moved to Dunkirk the same year, to take a position with Nog, Inc. and held various positions with Kraft Foods, Dunkirk Ice Cream, and Red Wing Co., retiring in 1991. Former member of the Dunkirk School Board, he enjoyed gardening and golf. Preceded in death by son, Philip "PJ" Stokes; 4 brothers; 1 sister. Survived by wife of 44 years, Jeanne (Foley) Stokes; daughters, Sarah and Elizabeth "Betsy"; 6 sons, Stuart, Thomas, David, Jonathan, Matthew, and Peter Stokes; brother, Boyd "Buddy" Stokes of Corryton; 8 grandchildren, Christopher, Kegan, Matthew, Keana, Becca, Nycole, Samantha, and Madison; several nieces, nephews and cousins, Funeral was held in New York last week. SUOMINEN, MRS. RHEBA P. - age 96, of Harriman, formerly of Morgan County, died Sunday, February 25, 2001 in Royal Care Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Daly and Maude Christmas Young; husband, Reno Suominen. Survived by niece, Betty Honeycutt; special friend, Ray Thompson of Harriman. THRESS, MARGARET MAXINE - age 71 passed away on Friday night at Northhaven Nursing Home. She was born October 3, 1929 and is the daughter of the late James and Zelma Thress. She is survived by her loving aunt Josephine Thress and uncle John K. Thress; and very many cousins and friends of the family. Graveside services will be on Monday February 26, 2001 at 1 p.m. at the Highland Memorial cemetery off of Kingston Pike. Survivors are his daughter, Ms. Tiyetta Coach of Knoxville, Tenn.; six sisters, Mrs. Ann Boatwright of Knoxville, Tenn., Mrs. Sylvia Curtis of Sonoraville, Ga., Ms. Christine Turner, Ms. Wylene Turner, Mrs. Betty Johnson, Ms. Margaret Smith, all of Calhoun, Ga.; three brothers, Mr. Eugene Turner of Adairsville, Ga., Mr. Jimmy Turner, and Mr. Willie C. Turner, all of Calhoun; one granddaughter, Ms. Trinity Coach; sisters in law; brothers in law; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 27, 2001 at 1 p.m. from the Friendship Baptist Church, West Line Street Calhoun, Ga. with Minister Lamar Curtis, Rev. He is survived by wife, Gertrud Kolb Williams; and daughters and sons in law, Margaret W. and Jimmy Moses of Gray, Tenn., and Betty S. Williams and Mike Kasprzak of Seattle, Wash.; and son and daughter in law, James H. and Elizabeth Williams of Annandale, Va. and his son in law, George H. Mauney of Charlotte, NC; and his grandchildren, Jessica Williams Jordan, and James Robert Williams, and sister, Annie Perry of Smyrna, Tenn. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church Maryville with Dr. Darris Doyle officiating. Entombment will follow at Grandview cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2 p.m. Monday at the church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund of Maryville, 804 Montvale Station Road, Maryville, Tenn. 37803.
