WEAVER, ALMA CHRISTINE - age 83 of Karns, passed away Friday March 2, 2001. She was a member of Karns Church of Christ. Preceded in death by husband, Edgar Weaver. Survived by sons and daughters in law, Lanny and Marie Weaver of Luttrell, Darrell and Betty Weaver of Louisville, Ky.; son, Bobby Weaver of Ala.; grandchildren, Jennifer, Tammy, Eddie and Connie Weaver, Amy Weaver Cordrey and Sarah Weaver, Thomas, David and Rachel Weaver; great grandchildren, Dillon Weaver and Blake Wallace; sisters, Betty Easton, Libby Bray; brother, Darrell Fritts; several nieces and nephews. WEBB, N. EDWARD - age 58 of Corryton departed this life on Sunday March 4, 2001 after a valiant battle with cancer. He attended Bookwalter United Methodist Church and was a correctional officer with the Knox Co. Sheriff's Department. Preceded in death by his father, Newman Webb and father in law, Ozell Evans. He is survived by his wife, Linda Webb of Corryton and son, Newman Webb of Corryton; mother, Anthony Webb of Knoxville; mother in law, Marian Evans of Knoxville; sisters, Carleen Weaver, Becky Wayland & husband, Art, and Minerva Ridner all of Knoxville; sister in law, Robin Cate & husband, Dennis of New Market; aunt, Dixie Lamb Bell of Knoxville; 4 nephews, 5 nieces; 3 great nephews & 1 great niece. WICKER, MR. THOMAS MACK - age 74 of Niota, Tenn. died Saturday in Athens Regional Medical Center of Athens, Tenn. He was a native and life long resident to McMinn County, Tenn. He was retired from Martin-Marietta as a Supervisor. He was a member of Union-McMinn Baptist Church. Survivors: wife, Meda Rebecca Anderson Wicker, Niota, Tenn.; two daughters, Janie Wilson, Niota, Tenn., Connie Coffey, Niota, Tenn.; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brother, Lawrence Wicker, Niota, Tenn.; two sisters, Hazel Black, Fontana, Calif., Grace McLendon, .Conn.; several nieces and nephews. WILLIAMS, MR. THOMAS (TOMMY) - age 56, of Blaine, passed away 6:30 a.m. Sunday, March 4, 2001, at U. T. Medical Center. He was a member of Willow Springs Baptist Church. Preceded in death by son, Ricky Williams. Survivors: wife, Patricia Ann Williams; sons, Tony Williams, and Thomas Williams; daughter, Missy Cardwell; granddaughters, Olivia Cardwell and Hanna Williams; grandsons, Anthony, Erick and Cameron Williams; brothers, Paul Williams of Jefferson City, Ray Williams of Blaine; sister, Shirley Yates of Blaine; several nieces and nephews. WYNN, JAMES MITCHEL - born on August 15, 1909, departed this life on March 2, 2001, at Eden Park Health Care Center in Utica, NY. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Morris Wynn; parents, George and Nora Wynn; granddaughter, Jennifer Wynn; sisters, Estelle Duff and Ruth Wynn; and brothers, Charles and Fred Wynn. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Irene M. Wynn; brother and sister in law, Glenn & Margaret Wynn of Maryville, Tenn.; sons and daughters in law, Jim & Naomi Wynn of Knoxville, Tenn., and Fred & Sally Wynn of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; nephew, Glenn Wynn, Jr. of Nashville, Tenn.; stepson and wife, Leslie A. & Janet Gillett, of London, England; step daughter and husband, Shirley & Sam Brodie of Rome, NY; grandchildren, Rick Wynn of Natick, MA, Andrew Wynn of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Mitchel, Michael and Elizabeth Wynn of Knoxville, Tenn.; step grandchildren, Brent, Ethan, Lee, Amanda and Scott. YORK, FERVIE B. - age 90, of 4231 King George Drive, Lower Paxton Township, Penn., passed away Friday, March 2, 2001, in Harrisburg Hospital. She was a member of the First Church of the Brethren, Harrisburg. Surviving are three sons, Roger York of Wichita, Kansas, Joseph York of Harrisburg, and Danny York of Duncannon, a daughter, Jamie York of New Mexico, a brother, Kenneth Johnson of Knoxville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Richardson Funeral Home, Inc., Enola. Burial will be in Shoops cemetery Susquehanna Township. BEELER, EARL DOUGLAS - age 57, formerly of Knoxville, passed away Fri., March 2, 2001, in Covington, Ga. He moved from Knoxville to Covington 17 years ago, and was a Foreman with Pittman Construction Company for the past 11 years. He was preceded in death by parents, Ernest and Gertrude Beeler and a sister, Wanda Green. Survived by wife, Linda Elizabeth Beeler; brother and sister-in-law, Arlie and Susie Beeler of Knoxville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ernestine and Kyle King of Chester Town, Md., June and R. C. Owen of Knoxville; mother-in-law, Lillian Hutchison of Knoxville; brothers-in-law, Mike Beeler of Covington, Ga., and Joe Green of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews. COBB, REGINA BLANCHE - died in Concord, North Carolina, where she had recently resided with her sister. Miss Cobb was born September 3, 1912, the daughter of John D. F. Cobb and Blanche Summers Cobb in Boone Station Township, Alarnance County, North Carolina. She attended grade school in Norfolk, Va., and graduated from the Gibsonville High School, in North Carolina. She was a life member of Friedens Lutheran Church, where she was active as teacher of the Regina Cobb Bible Study Class, President of the Women of the Church, and lay leader. She was also a member of the Alpha Alpha Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International, an honor society for women educators. In addition, she was a member of The Keen Agers Club, Friends of Rose Garden Club of Gibsonville and the Smoky Mountain Manuscript Club. She is survived by a sister, Anna Lois Cobb Bulla, of Concord, N.C. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and trained to teach the deaf at the Morganton, North Carolina School for the Deaf. She began her teaching career at the Tennessee School for the Deaf at Knoxville, and retired from the same school after more than 40 years of service to the deaf. She also served as supervising teacher in Alabama school at Talladega and the South Carolina School at Spartanburg. The Regina Cobb Traveling Cheer Leaders Trophy was established in her honor by the Mason Dixon Athletic Conference, which includes schools for the deaf from ten southern states. She made the first presentation of the trophy in 1979. Then in 1999, after 20 years of retirement, she was invited to make the presentation of this trophy at the annual Mason Dixon Tournament. She was named Teacher of the Year in 1969 by the Knoxville Anchor Club. Services will be at Friedens Lutheran Church, Gibsonville, N.C., on Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Richard Rhoades officiating. Interment icon will follow in the family plot of the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Friedens Lutheran Church, NC Hwy 61, Gibsonville, NC 27249, and to the American Heart Association (NC office), PO Box 4390, Chapel Hill, NC 27515-4390. COBBLE, JOE ALLEN - age 72 of Lenoir City, formerly of Fountain City, passed away early Sunday morning March 4, 2001, at Park West Hospital. Joe was a graduate of Central High School class of 1946 and attended the University of Tennessee. He was an accomplished artist and an avid golfer. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, James Ernest and Vorus Ware Cobble; brother, Jim Cobble. He will be missed by his sisters, Jean Drennen, Dorothy Cobble and Judy Sylvester; sister in law, Jean Johnson Cobble; nieces, Jen Drennen, Amy Martin, Katey Durham and Megan Dunn; nephews, Jimmy Cobble and Ben Durham; loving and faithful friends, Courtney and Nell Strange.
