FRAKER, ELSIE V. - 94 of Knoxville, passed away Sat. at Colonial Hill Health Care Maryville. Member of Church Street United Methodist Church. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Gentry-Griffey Chapel.

GARDNER, MARY GENELLA - 67 of Powell, parted this life on May 3, 2001 at U.T. Hospital. She was born in Rockingham, NC. Survivors include: husband, Frank Gardner; sister, Frances Nedrow & brothers, Glenn & John East; six children, Debra Nedrow, Linda Smale, Barbara Kinikin, Jeffrey Gardner, Maria Grissom, and Kenny Gardner; eight grandchildren, Ron Nedrow, Chris Tavano, Ashley Grissom, Sarah & Joshua Gardner, Haley Gardner, Heather & Brandon Kinikin. GRANT, GLADYS CLARKE - 100 on April 28th died Sat. May 5, 2001 at UT Medical Center. She was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church, Farragut. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas D. Grant; son in law, Marvin Miller & grandson, Dean Ingram. Survivors: daughters & son in law, Bernardine & Holland Ingram, Judith Miller all of Knoxville; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brother, Eugene Clarke, Knoxville; several nieces & nephews. GREENE, MR. ARTHUR R., JR. - of Jefferson City, passed away Sat. May 5, 2001, at the Life Care Center in Jefferson City. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Jefferson City & the Bass Sun. School Class. He was a member of the Mossy Creek Masonic Lodge #353 F&AM, Lenoir City Masonic Lodge, & the Kerbela Temple Shrine Club. He was also a veteran of the US MMarines & was a retired employee of TVA with more than 30 years of service. Preceded in death by his parents, Arthur R. Greene, Sr. and Ossie Burns Greene & his brother, Ed Greene. Survived by his wife of 53 years, Mrs. Naomi Anderson Greene of the home; son &daughter in law, Steve & Kristie Greene of Nashville; daughter and son in law, Susan & Bill Newman of Jefferson City; 3 loving grandsons, Jordan & Justin Greene of Nashville and Andrew Newman of Jefferson City; sisters, Evelyn Foster of Knoxville, Ruth McDaniel of Knoxville, and Ossie Malone of Johnson City; brother, Jack Greene of Fla. & several nieces & nephews. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tues., May 8, 2001, in the Jefferson Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends immediately following the service at First Baptist Church in Jefferson City. HORMELL, EVELYN HERRON - Liberty, Indiana, formerly of Knoxville passed away March 6, 2001. She was preceded in death by husband, Howard O. Hormell; mother, Iva T. Herron; sisters, Anna Luttrell, Grace Bailey; two brothers, Charles Herron & Edward Herron. Several nieces & nephews also survive her. Services were held March 10th in Liberty.

JENKINS, GRACE H. - 78, widow of Money Roosevelt Jenkins of Ballplay Rd., Madisonville, passed away Sat., May 5, 2001 at U.T. Medical Center. Member of Union Hall Baptist Church. NEWMAN, KIRSTEN BERG - 32 of Farragut TN, died May 3, following her courageous battle with cancer. Kirsten's home is in Farragut, where she was a member of First Farragut United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Farragut High School, studied at MTSU, FL Southern University, the University of TN, and graduated from Roane State College in the School of Nursing. Kirsten was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Miles Goosmann II, and sister, Jenny Berg. She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Newman, who is employed by TN Air National Guard; 20 month old daughter, Emily Cottrell Newman; mother and step father Karen and Ronald Daves, brother Chip Daves, all of Farragut; father and step mother, Robert L. and Alyce Berg; brothers, Jacob and Jonathan Berg all of Clearwater, Fl.; maternal grandmother Jeannette Cottrell of Farragut. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sun., May 6, 2001, at the First Farragut United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Mon. at the First Farragut United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Edwards officiating. Survived by his wife of 49 years, Helen Ruth Millsapps; children, Jim Millsapps, Darrell Millsapps & wife, Debbie Millsapps, Becky Trotter & husband, Allen Trotter; grandchildren, Jason & Kristi Millsapps, Evan Trotter; step sister, Mamie Purkey; sister in law, Birdie Millsapps; several nieces & nephews. NORRIS, STANLEY - 76 of Dandridge, passed away Fri. May 4, 2001 at his home following a lengthy illness. Born, Mar. 24th 1925, he was a lifelong resident of the Chestnut Hill community of Jefferson County. A longtime and faithful member of the Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church where he served in multiple offices including Lay Leader for approximately 40 years. Stanley was founder and chairman for 25 years of the Chestnut Hill Charity Horse Show. He served in the US Army, Co. C, 88th Chemical Mortar Battalion from September 4, 1943 to January 15th, 1946, with honors including; WWII Victory Ribbon and the Bronze Star. He was preceded in death by parents, Ollie and Daisy Norris. Survivors: wife of 53 years, Ina (Feezel;) Norris of the home; daughter & son, Dr. Cathy and Jack Bush of Newport; daughter, Becky Dance of Chestnut Hill; son & daughter, Craig and Beth Norris of Columbia, Tenn.; grandchildren, Kristi and Nick Oakes, Rob Dorner, Megan Dance, Stan and Allie Norris, Marina Oakes; sisters, Faye Hill, Marie McKay and Carrie Norris and brother, Everett Feezel all of Sevierville; special friend, Calvin Williamson; special cousins, Edna Derrick, Wanda and Alvin Davis, Carl and Jo Norris. Funeral services, Sun. 4 p.m. at the Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Burchfield Memorial United Methodist Church cemetery. PARKER, ANDREW W. (BUDDY) , JR. - 59, of Sacramento, Calif., passed away on Tues., May 1, 2001, after an extended battle with cancer. Buddy is survived by his parents, Wilson and Lucy Parker of Allardt, Tenn.; wife, Yvonne; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Jot Condie of Sacramento, Calif.; son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Kelly Parker of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandsons, Jot and Garrison Condie and Jacob Parker; brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Cheryl Parker of Seymour, and John and Yvonne Parker of Altoona, Wis. Buddy graduated from Harrison Chilhowee Baptist Academy of Seymour and the University of Alaska, and was a retired small business owner. A memorial service was held on May 5, 2001, in Sacramento.

QUEEN, JOHN LESTER - 85 of Bull Mountain Road, Asheville, NC, died Wed. May 2, 2001 at the Asheville VA Medical Center. Mr. Queen was born in Burke County, NC, on May 2, 1916, to the late Charles B. and Eldorada Patton Queen. Preceded in death by three brothers, Vergil E. Queen, Russell J. Queen, and his twin brother, Charles Wesley Queen. A resident of Asheville since 1936, he worked as an auto parts salesman before retiring in 1987. He was a 52 year member of the Masonic Order. He was a member of Groce United Methodist Church since 1956. He was a US Army veteran of WWII, serving in the 629th Tank Destroyer Battalion under General George Patton from 1942-1945.Survived by his wife of 60 years, Jonsey McMahan Queen; one son, Dr. Allen B. Queen & his wife, Terri of Farragut, Tenn.; grandchildren, John Travis Queen, Anna E. Queen, & David Allen Queen; one brother, D. Guy Queen of Asheville. Funeral services at 2:30 p.m. Sun. at Groce United Methodist Church Rev. Dr. Doug Fairbanks, Jr., officiating. Burial Piney Grove cemetery, Swannanoa. Active & honorary pallbearers will include grandsons, John Travis Queen & David Allen Queen. An honor guard will be provided by the 3297th US Army Hospital. Family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service & request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to the building fund of Groce United Methodist Church, 954 Tunnel Road, Asheville, NC 28805.
