Survivors include sons, William Shalaby Rasheed, Herbert Mattox and Heber Clark, Jr.; step daughters, Ruby (Lewis) Clark Sutton of Cherry Point, N.C., Annie Battle, Susie Clark, Rosa Clark, Minnie Irene Clark, Willie B. Clark, and Minnie (Clifford) Chesney, all of Knoxville; grandchild, Kenny Benton and a host of other relatives and friends to include special friends, Sandra White, Felix Phillips, Earnest (Rumale) Hester, Bernice Manning, Hearman (Rosalee) Burris and Jessie Grandberry. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 5, 2001, from 1-1:30 p.m. at McDonald Road Church of Christ with funeral service to follow at 1:30 p.m., Brother David Meeks officiating. COLLINS, JAMES E. - age 85, of New Market, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2001, at Lakeway Regional Hospital. Preceded in death by parents, Rufus and Myrtle Collins; brother, William (Bill) Collins, and sister, Pauline Stooksbury. Survived by wife, Helen Collins; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Mike Overton; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Ann Collins, Max and Barbara Collins; sister and husband, Ruth and Paul Summers; grandchildren, Ritchie, Jody, Amanda and Michelle Collins, and Karen Braden; great-grandchildren, Austin, Chase, and Caleb Collins and Tyler Braden. Funeral service 8 p.m. Tuesday, Fielden Chapel with Rev. Charles Smith officiating. Family and friends will meet at Jefferson Memorial Garden at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, July 4, 2001, for the 11 a.m. Entombment Service. Memorials may be made to Gideons International. FOX, MRS. AMIE L. - age 88 of Corryton, passed away Sunday July 1, 2001 at Hilllcrest North Nursing Home. Member of Clear Branch Baptist Church. Preceded in death by husband, Shannon B. Fox; parents, John and Dora Walker; along with all of her brothers and sisters. She is survived by brother in law and sister in law, Rex and Mattie Fox of Corryton; sisters in law, Frances Fox of Knoxville, and Marie Fox of Corryton; along with a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Ailor's Chapel with Rev. Charles Tindell, Rev. Gary Beeler officiating. Special music by Michael Cupp. Interment icon will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Blaine's Chapel cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call Tuesday at their convenience. FULWEILER, ROBERT E. - age 72, of Jefferson City, passed away Sunday night, July 1, 2001, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, after a prolonged illness. Robert was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, Jefferson City, where he served as church treasurer for more than 30 years. He was also a member of the church choir, a church Elder and was active in the Presbytery. He also generously gave his time serving the community of Jefferson City through his work on the City Planning Commission, the Civitan Club of Jefferson City, and serving as Scout Masters for the Boy Scouts. Robert was born May 30, 1929, in Litiz, Penn. After earning a BA degree in geology from Duke University and a MS degree in geology from Ohio State University, he moved to Jefferson City to assume a geologist position with New Jersey Zinc. During his tenure with New Jersey Zinc Company, he served as resident geologist and later regional geologist. In 1984, he accepted the position of Chief Geologist for the Tennessee Department of Geology, East Tennessee Division. He retired from the state in 1996. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward D. Fulweiler of Litiz, Penn., and his mother, Florence S. Fulweiler of Columbia, Penn. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Betty Henry Fulweiler of Jefferson City; daughters, Susan Fulweiler Creel of Jefferson City, and Kathy Fulweiler of Jefferson City; granddaughter, Megan Creel. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2001, at First Presbyterian Church, Dr. Robert Reno officiating. Interment icon to follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens. HARWELL, REV. WILLIAM GRADY - age 79, of Knoxville, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2001. He was a retired minister of South Knoxville Methodist Fellowship, World War II Veteran, and member of the 82nd Airborne. Preceded in death by parents, John Patrick and Pearl Beatrice Harwell and sister, Frances Harwell Palmer. Survivors include wife of 61 years, Margaret Payne Harwell; son, Robert and wife Pat Harwell of Savannah, Tenn.; daughter, Clara Hairrell and husband Benton of Knoxville; son, Ralph E. and wife Beverly Harwell of Knoxville; daughter, W. Kathleen Harwell of Charlotte, N.C.; son, John and wife Pam Harwell of Knoxville; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brother, Rev. Charlie and wife Helen Harwell of Andalusia, Ala.; sisters, Ruth Harwell of Knoxville, Robbie Hood and husband Thomas of Leoma, Tenn., and Zella Pigg and husband Arlie of Cypress Inn, Tenn. Funeral services for Rev. Harwell will be held Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of McCarty Mortuary with Rev. Bruce Asbell officiating. Interment icon to follow in the Roseberry cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the South Knoxville Bible Methodist Fellowship or the Parkinson's Association. KELLER, VIRGINIA LEE JOHNSON - age 67, originally from Knoxville, Tenn. passed away at her home in Santa Anna, Calif. July 1, 2001. Preceded in death by husband, James Keller; son, Frankie; mother, Geneva Johnson Barkowiak. Survivors: sons, Michael and Scott; and daughter, Lisa. Funeral services will be held in Calif.

KENNEDY, JAMES PINKNEY (J.P.) - age 83, of 627 Monroe St., Madisonville, passed away Monday, July 2, 2001, at U. T. Medical Center. Son of the late Monroe County Sheriff, Jim Kennedy and Esther Jenkins Kennedy. Retired Monroe County Judge and Juvenile Court Judge, serving from 1966 to 1979, Former Chairman of the East Tennessee Development District, Life Patron Member of the National Bird Dog Foundation and faithful supporter of all East Tennessee field trials clubs, having served as president of the Ft. Loudon Field Trial Club, former trainer-instructor with Knoxville Golden Gloves, 1946 Southern AAU Light-heavy-weight Boxing Champion, Veteran of World War II, having served with the 450th Bomb Group of the U. S. Army Air Corps in Manduria, Italy. Preceded in death by wife, Mildred Shearer Kennedy; daughter, Julia Shearer Kennedy; brothers, Otto, Oley (Bull), Cicero and Ulis Kennedy; sisters, Nema Hyder, Gena Barbarick and Verna Lee North. Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Mary Kennedy and Tom Hendershot of Madisonville; son, Jim Kennedy; grandchildren, Sarah Hendershot-Simpson, Keith Hendershot, Eva Hendershot, Julia Hendershot, Garth Kennedy and Grace Kennedy; brothers, Warren Harding Kennedy of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Paul Kennedy of Rome, Ga.; sisters, Dossie Foley of Wilming, Dela., and Glyn Kennedy of Roswell, Ga. KING, EDNA MERTIE - age 88, of South Knoxville, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2001, at Baptist Hospital. Retired from Knox County Highway Department with 24 years service. Member of South Knoxville Baptist Church. Preceded in death by husband, Jack King. Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, Jack M. and Charlotte King; brother and sister-in-law, Mark B. and Margaret Porter; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Claude Day of Oak Ridge; special nieces, Diane Edens, Patty Curry, and Kathey Stout; grandchildren, Vickie Hurst, Frankie Taylor, and Teresa Kent, and special friend, Woodrow Booher. LOGGINS-McGILL, DOROTHY "DOT" - 50 of Seymour, passed away Sunday July 1, 2001 at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital. She was a member of Community Baptist Church of Knoxville. Dot was preceded in death by George McGill; and brother, Bill McGill. Survived by her parents, Stanley and Georgia Loggins; brother and sister in law, Carl and Kathy McGill; brother and sister in law, Jr. and Wanda McGill; sister and brother in law, Rhonda and Lonas Compton; sister and brother in law, Phyllis and Bill Jones; sister and brother in law, Glenda and Robert Sayne; sister and brother in law, Sylvia and Bill Carringer; and many nieces and nephews. The family will be receiving friends Tuesday July 3, 2001 from 6-8 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 8 p.m. in the Highland South Chapel. LOWE, PHYLLIS ANN - age 58, of Whitesburg, passed away Sunday morning, July 1, 2001, at Lakeway Regional Hospital. She was preceded in death by her father, Lawson Long and brothers, Horace and James Long. She was a former member of Holston Chapel United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Johnny D. Lowe; godson, Shon Foster, both of Whitesburg; sisters, Margaret Trophine Wilson of Hendersonville, Ky., and Flo Ella Blevins of Crossville, Tenn., special nieces and nephews, Doug Wilson of Alabama, and Ralph Wilson of Kentucky, and special nieces and nephews, Keith, Kirk, and Kay Wilson, and Vickie Whitson of Alabama. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Allen Funeral Home, with Rev.'s Steve Smith and Terry Bunch officiating. Interment icon will follow in Bent Creek cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Allen Funeral Home, Morristown, is in charge of arrangements.

MAPLES, JAMES DUKES (J.D.) - age 92, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, June 30, 2001, following a brief illness. Mr. Maples passed away at his home in East Knox County, surrounded by loving family and friends. He was the son of the late Benjamin and Myrtle Maples, and was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Elkins Maples; sister, Carrie Haynes, and brothers, Ed and George Maples. He was retired from Standard Knitting Mills, where he worked for 46 years. Former member of 5th Avenue Baptist Church, present member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, where, until his recent illness, he served as custodian and president of the Golden Years Fellowship Club. Survivors: sister, Barbara (Boots) Maples; son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Margie Maples; daughter and son-in-law, Anna and J. B. Allen, all of Knoxville; grandchildren, Amy and husband, Jerry McDonald of Dandridge, Andy Maples of Buffalo Mills, Penn., Dru Maples of Knoxville, Debby and husband Tim Foland of Canton, Ga., Danny and wife Cindy Allen of Knoxville; great-grandchildren, Wesley and wife Sherry Jo Brown, Shannon Brown, Ashley, Tyler and Natalie Foland, Jordan, Landon and Marena Allen; step grandchildren, Melanie Hammond, Jennifer McDonald and Sandy Cole; several nieces, nephews, and cousins, special friend, Velma Gass, and a host of other friends. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Revs. Roy Miller and Mike Murphree officiating. Mr. Maples will lie in state one hour before the funeral service. McPHAIL, HAZEL LEE MORGAN - age 78, of Sevierville, Tennessee, died Wednesday, June 27, 2001, after a brief illness at Ft. Sanders-Sevier Medical Center. She was the widow of Charlie Morgan of Atlanta and the widow of Charlie McPhail of Hapeville. She was retired from the interior decorating department of Rich's Department Store, having worked first in the downtown Rich's Store and then in the Stone Mountain Distribution Center. She is survived by two step sons, Roy McPhail of Memphis, Tenn., and Charles McPhail, Jr. of Griffin, Ga. At Mrs. McPhail's request, there will be no services. Friends and relatives wishing to remember her may make donations to the Sevier County Animal Shelter, Sevierville, TN, or their local animal shelter or humane society. McREYNOLDS, OLLIE RHEA - age 94 of Lenoir City, passed away Saturday evening, June 30, 2001, at the Baptist Health Care Center. Ollie Rhea was a devoted Christian always ready to praise her Jesus to her friends and loved ones. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Lenoir City for 53 years. Along with her husband, Howard, she sang duets at many local churches. She was an avid gardener. She was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Ida Harvey Mills; husband, Howard McReynolds; brothers, Robert, Homel and Bart Mills; sisters, Willie Hyde and Edna Bradley; son in law, Bobbie Fox. Ollie is survived by her daughter, Jonnie Fox of Lenoir City; son, Arnold McReynolds and wife, Peggy of Vero Beach, Fla.; grandsons, Herbert and Samuel McReynolds; granddaughters, Susan Fulbright, Frances Cupp and Lea Ann Sparks; seven great grandsons; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-7:45 p.m. Tuesday followed by funeral services at 8 p.m. in the Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Greg Harper officiating. Family and friends will gather by 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Click Funeral Home and proceed to the Woodlawn Baptist Church cemetery for an 11 a.m. graveside service. MILLER, HOWARD J. - age 79, of Friendsville, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2001, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was retired from the U. S. Navy and Martin-Marietta. Survivors include wife, Edith I. Miller; sons, Charles Miller of Madisonville, Stephen Miller of Maryville, and Kyle Miller of Knoxville; daughter, Evelyn Carol Miller of Maryville; granddaughters, Robin Miller and Kimberly Sassar. The family will receive friends from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home, then proceed to Grandview cemetery for a 2 p.m. military graveside service with Dr. John Franklin and Rev. MONGER, SARAH ANDERSON - age 62, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2001. She was born in Knoxville, Tenn., and had resided in Jacksonville since 1970. Mrs. Monger was a graduate of the University of Tennessee in 1963, with a BA in Journalism. She was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority and had many honors: Band Sponsor, Sweetheart of SPE fraternity, Engineer Queen, Society Editor of Orange and White School Newspaper. She was preceded in death by her son, James Douglas Monger and her father, James L. Monger. Survivors include three sons, Stephen Monger and his wife Wendy, Robert Monger and his wife Kristen, all of Jacksonville, Fla., and Joe Monger and his wife Lynn of Boston, Mass.; seven grandchildren; mother, Marie L. Anderson of Knoxville, Tenn.; brother, J. P. Anderson, M.D., of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sister, Julie M. Cooper of Plano, Texas, and several nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2001, in Highland Memorial cemetery, Knoxville, with Rev. Jim Kearney of Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 .m. - 12 Noon at Highland Memorial Funeral Home, 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919.

NICHOLS, HAROLD LLOYD - age 60, died at home on June 27, 2001 at 2 p.m., after a lingering fight with cancer. The giving man he was, chose to donate his body to science to further help others. There will be a Memorial Service at his home on July 14, 2001 at 2 p.m. He will be missed dearly by all his friends and family.
