WHITE, ELSIE ELIZABETH - age 81, of Kingston, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at the Rockwood Health Care Center. She was of the Baptist faith. Preceded in death by her husband, James White. Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Gene Gamble of Kingston; sister, Louise Thomas Cox of Kingston; grandchildren, Janine and Stacey Bearden of Knoxville, David and Renee Gamble of Newport, April and Jeff Plemons, John Mark and Monica Gamble, all of Kingston, and 14 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be on Thursday, July 12, 2001, at 8 p.m. in the Kyker Chapel with Rev. David Gamble, Rev. Jeff Plemons, and Rev. Ray Bearden officiating. Burial in Kingston Memorial Gardens on Friday at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at Kyker Funeral Home in Kingston

WHALEY, EASTER LIDAV - age 77, of South Knoxville, went to be with our Lord and Savior Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at 1:05 a.m., after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was surrounded with love by her family as she left this earthly home to go to her heavenly home. She was a member of Burnetts Creek Baptist Church for more than 50 years. She was preceded in death by her son, David Whaley; daughter, Marion Branch; mother, Ella Mae McCarter; father, James Henry McCarter, and eight brothers and sisters. Left to cherish the memories are her husband of 57 years, Marion Buford Whaley; son, Steve Whaley and family of Belleview, Fla.; daughter, Loretta "Suzie" Rudder and family of Knoxville, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, and five sisters. A special thanks to Hospice of Baptist Hospital and all those who supported her during her illness. "Our loss is Heaven's gain." Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 13, in the East Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home. Interment icon will follow in Huskey's cemetery. WILDS, BEULAH DENTON - of Knoxville, passed away Tuesday evening, July 10, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center. She was the widow of Ernest S. Wilds. Preceded in death by daughter, Barbara Joan Howell and brothers, John, Hal, and Warren Denton. A member of Fifth Ave. Baptist Church. Survived by daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Mac Stalcup of Halls; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Kathy Wilds of Knoxville, Michael and Martha Wilds of Halls; son-in-law, Ralph Howell of Phoenix, Arizona; granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Lynne and Cal Johnson of Atlanta, Ga., Angie and Brent Sloman of Birmingham, Alabama, Mary Catherine Stalcup Mikula and husband Donald, of New York, N.Y., and Amanda and Kelle Wilds of Halls, and Helen Wilds of Halls; grandsons, Matthew Stalcup and fiancee, Michelle Cash of Knoxville, and Grant Wilds of Halls; great-granddaughter, Courtney Johnson; great-grandson, Skylar Drae Stalcup; sisters, Eula Cooper and Peggy Suttle, both of Kingsport, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Gentry-Griffey Chapel, Dr. James Robertson officiating. Interment icon in Lynnhurst cemetery. WILSON, ALBERTA O. SPRIGGS - age 91, of Alcoa, Tenn., a native of Cleveland, Tenn., died Tuesday morning, July 10, 2001, in a local Cleveland Hospital. She was a graduate of College Hill High School in Cleveland, Tenn., and attended Tuskegee Institute. She is preceded in death by her parents, Anderson and Etta Spriggs and husband, August Wilson and nephew, Bobby Johnson. Survivors include sister, Odella Blair of Cleveland, Tenn.; nieces, Betty Cunnungham, Fay Couch, and Geraldine Everett; nephews, Rev. Harry Johnson, James Johnson, John Blair and Paul Blair, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 14, 1 p.m. at St. Paul A.M.E. Church on Halls Rd. with Rev. George Byrd officiating. Interment icon will follow at Sherwood cemetery in Maryville, Tenn. The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service at the church. M. D. BLIZZARD, DELLA - age 85, of Knoxville, Tenn., passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at her home. She was born July 23, 1915, in Campbell County, Tenn. She was a long time member of Westside Baptist Temple in Knoxville, Tenn., where she loved to attend services. She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Blizzard, Sr.; sons, Robert Blizzard, Charlie Blizzard, and Jimmy Blizzard; infants, Hester Pearl Blizzard and Albert Blizzard, and parents, William D. and Elizabeth Baker Foust. Survivors: daughters, Barbara Farmer and husband, Wendell of Knoxville, Helen Morgan of Knoxville, Evelyn Blizzard of Knoxville, and Linda King and husband, Bob of Corryton; adopted daughter, Kitty Kennedy and husband, Tom of Nashville; sons, Earl Blizzard and wife, Hazel of Knoxville, Major Kenneth Paul Blizzard of North Carolina; brother, Venson Foust and wife, Ella Ruth of Lake City; sister, Zola Webber of Lake City; sister in law, Ann Foust of Utah. Several grandchildren; great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. BOWMAN, GEORGE L. - age 89, of Lenoir City, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at the Park West Hospital. George was a member of First Baptist Church in Lenoir City for 76 years, where he served as usher and secretary of the Sunday School Department. A retired Post Master of the Lenoir City Post Office. Until his death, he had been a 21 year employee of Click Funeral Home, since his retirement. He was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Army in Italy. George was a former member of the Lenoir City Civitan Club, and the American Legion. Preceded in death by his wife, Pauline (Polly) Pickell Bowman; parents, Thomas L. and Nancy Bowman; sister, Myrtle Bowman Bowden; brother, Elmer Bowman; nephews, Allan Lester Bowman and Charles Robert (Bob) Porter. Survived by sister, Viola Bowman Porter of Lenoir City; nephews, M. B. (Bud) Bowden and wife Shirley of Farragut, George Bowden and wife Jane Bowden of Jacksonville, Fla., and several other nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. George also leaves behind many special friends.. Family and friends will gather at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Click Funeral Home and proceed to the Lenoir City cemetery for graveside services at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jack Jackson officiating. Military Honors will be conferred by the East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard. BURCHELL, PATRICIA ANN CONNOR - age 62, of Dandridge, passed away Wednesday evening, July 11, 2001, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jefferson City and was the former owner and operator of the Sassy but Classy Dress Shop of Dandridge and Jefferson City. Preceded in death by beloved step father, E. R. Cox. Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Karen Burchell; daughters and sons-in-law, Kristy and Mike McWilliams and Lisa and Manuel Latorre; grandchildren, Heather and Matthew Latorre, Paige Burchell, Morgan and Madison McWilliams; mother, Ruby Connor Cox; sister, Kathy Heard; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Bobbie Connor; brother, Charles Connor and a host of other family members. Funeral services will be Sunday, July 15, 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Jefferson City with Rev. Jim Dampier officiating. Interment icon to follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Farrar Funeral Home, Dandridge.

CURTNER, MICHAEL WAYNE - age 38, of Knoxville, died Thursday, July 12, 2001, at 11:55 a.m., after a three year battle with brain cancer. Our prayers have all been answered. The healing that had been delayed, has now been realized. He's not in a hurry. There's no schedule to keep. Michael is enjoying Jesus, just sitting at His feet. If you could see him, he's walking the streets of gold, standing tall and whole. If you could see him now, you'd know the pain is erased and you would never want him to leave that perfect place, "Heaven". His survivors include his wife of five years, Marlene Hammontree Curtner; 15 month old son, Mason Trevor Curtner; mother, Reva Curtner; father, Charles Curtner, Sr.; brothers, Charles Curtner, Jr., Gary Curtner; sisters, Patricia Summers, Carolyn Arwood, Janet Miller, Julie Hupp, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; father and mother-in-law, Marvin and Hilda Hammontree. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 14, at 12 Noon at New Hope Church of God, Sevierville, Tenn., with Darrell Bewley officiating. A Special Thanks to the Staff of St. Mary's Hospice Residence Facility for the special care they gave. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Hospice Residence Facility, 7447 Andersonville Pike, Knoxville, TN 37938. Arrangements by East Tennessee Mortuary Service.

CRAIG, JOHN ROY, JR. - lived at 201 Gibbs Ferry Rd., in Clinton, Tenn. He was 70 years old. John, son of John Roy Craig, Sr., and Leona Agnes Witkowski, was born in Scranton, Penn., on May 16, 1931. His family moved to Huntington, W. Va., where he lived until 19. His parents and his brother, Fr. Dale Craig, preceded him in death. At 12, he joined the Junior Marines and later transferred into the W. Virginia State Guard, during World War II, where he rose to the rank of Sergeant/E-5. At 19, he joined the U. S. Navy, where he became a Hospital Corpsman. He was later transferred to the U. S. Marine Corps, where he served for nine years, and was then transferred back to the Navy. During his time in service, he served in the Korean conflict and later in Vietnam. He retired from the Navy in November, 1970, for a total of 30 years Military Service. He was a 40 year Mason, becoming a Master Mason in 1961. He was a Scottish Rite Mason, a York Rite Mason, a Shriner, a member of the Scottish Rite Research Society, and a member of The Order of the Eastern Star. He was a dual member of Faith Lodge #756, Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Anchor Lodge #182, Key West, Fla. He belonged to the NRA, the Fleet Reserve Association, the DAV, the VFW, the American Legion, the Loyal Order of Moose, and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was also an avid coin collector. John received an Associates Degree in Science-Business and Financial Management from Florida Keys Community College. He was currently employed at the Eye Center of Oak Ridge, after retiring from the Monroe County, Florida, Property Appraiser's Office. John is survived by his wife, Josephine and son Stewart, of the home, and a son, John R. III, of Salt Lake City, Utah; brother, Wayne R. (Sue) of Coraopolis, Penn.; sister, Nancy Lee (Gene) Niday, of Louisville, Ky.; sister-in-law, Helen of Richmond, Va., and a brother-in-law, James L. (Phillis) Bennett of Jefferson City, Tenn., and numerous nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly, also survived John. Friends will be received at Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, July 13, with Masonic and Military services to follow. His Christian service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, July 14, at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, Oak Ridge, with Fr. Frank VanDevelder officiating. The interment icon of his ashes will follow in St. Stephens Memory Garden. It is requested any memorials be made, in lieu of flowers, to Methodist Medical Center's Hospitality House, in Oak Ridge.

ELLISON, GERALDINE RAMSEY - age, 62 went to be with her Lord Monday, July 9, 2001, in Spring, Texas. Gerri was born July 31, 1938, in Knoxville, Tenn. She was an active member of Champion Forest Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Richard Ellison; daughters, Cynthia Elaine Ellison, Leigh Ann DuBois and husband, Ken; grandchildren, Richard Taylor Ellison and Hunter Ramsey Barnes; sister, Wanda June McNutt of Scippeo, Ind.; beloved aunt, Juanita Ramsey of Knoxville; numerous extended family and friends. Funeral service Sunday, July 15, 2001, at 4 p.m., Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel with Rev. Dan Barringer, Rev. Jim Craigmyle, and Rev. Carlton Duke officiating. Family and friends will meet at Tennessee State Veterans cemetery 9:45 a.m. Monday, July 16, for interment icon at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel.

EVANS, OSCAR - age 97, of Powell, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2001. He was a member of Beaver Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced later by Weaver Funeral Home, 5815 Western Ave., 588-3868.

FOURNET, TERESE - age 93, of White Plains, New York, passed away Wednesday afternoon, July 11, 2001, in Farragut, Tennessee, where she had moved to be close to her family. Terese was of the Catholic faith. She was retired from Readers Digest in Pleasantville, New York, with 35 years of service. Terese was active in Republican Party Politics in West Chester County, and an Alderman for the City Board of White Plains. She was a life-long member of the White Plains Woman's Club. Terese was the daughter of Henri D. Fournet, Sr., and Jane McManus Fournet. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Adele M. Storch, Gertrude Fournet; brother, Henri D. Fournet, Jr.; nephew, Wallace G. Storch, Jr. She is survived by her great nieces, Mrs. Fournet Sheehan of Farragut, Tenn., Mrs. Jane LaBorde of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; great nephews, Wallace G. Storch III of Manheim, Penn., John N. Storch of Lancaster, Penn., and Michael D. Storch of Clearwater, Fla., and ten great-great nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday at McMahon Lyon and Harnett Funeral Home, 491 Mamaroneck Avenue, White Plains, N.Y. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the McMahon Chapel with Father Quinn officiating. Interment icon will be in the Gates of Heaven cemetery. GRISSOM, JAMES THOMAS - passed away Monday, July 9, 2001, in Florida. He is survived by his aunt, Hazel E. North and many cousins. His body was cremated. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2001, in Fox cemetery. Arrangements by Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.

JENKINS, TOMMIE "GRANNY" - age 97, of South Knoxville, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at Baptist Hospital. Preceded in death by husband, Labe Jenkins; parents, William and Mattie Goddard Nuchols; two brothers; two sisters, and three sons-in-law, Claude Thomas, Roy Hundley, Eldridge "Shady" Payne. Member of Gayland Heights Baptist Church. Survivors: daughters, Lois Thomas, Betty Hundley, and Annette Payne. Truly blessed with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the 3rd Floor Staff at Baptist Hospital, Dr. Clint Dorian, Dr. Rick Mays, and Dr. Dorian's associate, Eric. Silver and Gold Knight of Management Awards - National Management Association, Board of Directors of 1982 World's Fair, Chairman of the Board of Directors of KUB, President of Boy Scouts of America Great Smoky Mountain Council, founding member of the Patricia Neal Center United Way President, Humanitarian Award - "National Jewish Hospital and Research Center National Asthma Center", National Conference of Christians and Jews, Fundraising Committees of Children's Hospital, Ft. Sanders, Baptist, and St. Mary's, among other civic duties. Survivors: wife, Darless Lane Johnson; sons and daughters-in-law, I. O. Johnson, III, of South Carolina, Melvin C. and Mary Johnson of Georgia, Michael J.
