Nashville- Donnie Wheeler, 49, Nashville, died Sunday, May 27, 2001 at Metro-General Hospital, following a brief illness. Mr. Wheeler was a Washington County native and the son of Barbara Hart Perry, Delta, MO, and the late Donald F. Wheeler. He attended Boones Creek High School.
Mr. Wheeler was a Baptist. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include one son, Donnie Wheeler, Jr., Gaffney, SC; one granddaughter, Danica Wheeler, Gaffney, SC; several aunts, uncles, including Melvin Wheeler, Greenville, SC, nieces, nephews and cousins. Appalachian (928-6111)

Funeral services for Donnie Wheeler, 49, Nashville, formerly of Washington County, who died Sunday, May 27, 2001, will be conducted Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at 8:00 P.M. from the West Chapel of the Appalachian Funeral Home, with the Rev. Wilton Wood, officiating. Graveside committal services will be held Thursday, May 31, 2001 at 11:00 A.M. in Washington County Memory Gardens. Those planning to attend are to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 A.M. Thursday to proceed to the cemetery. Cousins will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. in the West Parlor of the funeral home and other times at the home of an aunt and uncle of Donnie, Niles and Mary Ruth Gross, 1953 Boones Creek Rd, Jonesborough. Donnie was preceded in death by his father, Donald F. Wheeler. Survivors include his mother, Barbara Hart Perry, Delta MO, his son, Donnie Wheeler, Jr., Gaffney, SC, his granddaughter, Danica Wheeler, Gaffney, SC, his special friends, Ann Ward and Blake Ward, both of Decaturville, TN, and Barbara Seabaugh, Delta MO, several aunts, uncles, including Melvin Wheeler, Greenville, SC, nieces, nephews and cousins. Edward S. Baxter
Edward S. Baxter, 90, Johnson City, died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Baxter was a native of Ischua, New York, resided in Buffalo, Tonawanda and Allegany, New York before moving to Johnson City in 1962. He was a son of the late Charles C. and Minnie Smith Baxter. Mr. Baxter founded and operated United Rent-Alls in 1962, which was the first equipment rent-alls store in northeast Tennessee, which is now known as East Tennessee Rent-Alls. Prior to moving to Johnson City, he ran Baxter's Dairy, part of the Valley Farms Co-operative in Olean, NY. Mr. Baxter was a 1929 graduate of Allegany Central School, and was a graduate of Bryant- Stratton Business College, NY. He was a member and former Elder of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Mr. Baxter had been a Mason since 1945, was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Johnson City Masonic Lodge #486 F&AM.
He was a Shriner since 1966, a member of the Jericho Temple Knoxville Scottish Rite, member and past president of the Johnson City/ Washington County Shrine Club, Plaque Chairman, and was deeply involved with the paper crusade for crippled children. Mr. Baxter was a member and past-president of the Volunteer Rental Association, member and past-president of the North Johnson City Business Club, member and past president of the Johnson City Civitan Club, and a longtime member of the Franklin Investment Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Langley Baxter, in 1996, 17 brothers and sisters. Survivors include three sons, Larry Baxter, Reno, Nevada, Tom Baxter, Warren, PA and Jim Baxter, Johnson City; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Geraldine F. Donnelly
Geraldine F. Donnelly, age 85, Asbury Center, died Saturday, May 26, 2001 in the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following a lengthy illness. A Johnson City native, Mrs. Donnelly was a daughter of the late Albert and Lula Leonard Campbell. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Donnelly was a long-time member of First Christian Church. Her husband, James Robert Donnelly in 1947, preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons, Keith Donnelly of Gatlinburg and Lynn Donnelly of Stone Mountain, Georgia; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two nieces. Appalachian (928-6111)

Ethel Pearl Story, age 86, Four Oaks Health Care Center, Jonesborough, died Friday, May 25, 2001 in the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following a lengthy illness. A Greene County native, Mrs. Story was a daughter of the late Daniel R. and Ida Belle Cooley Story. She was retired from Wallace Shoe Store.
Mrs. Story was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post #2108. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.N. Story. Survivors include three cousins, Nellie Leonard, Johnson City, Evelyn Williams, Johnson City and Homer Hammett, Johnson City.

Erin, TN- Mrs. Wayve Andrews, 78, Erin, formerly of Johnson City, died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at Trinity Hospital, following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Andrews was a Johnson City native, where she lived most of her life before moving to Erin in the mid 1980's. She was a daughter of the late Kenny and Maude Wilson Andrews. Mrs. Andrews was a housekeeper. She was a member of First Christian Church, Dover, TN, and a former longtime member of First Christian Church, Johnson City. Mrs. Andrews was survived by, one daughter, Denise Settle, Dover; two brothers, Lawrence Andrews, Lenoir, NC and Norman Andrews, Bright, IN; two sisters, Betty Lankford, Leland, NC and Phyllis Smith, Johnson City; two grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Louise Elizabeth H. T. Garland
Mrs. Louise Elizabeth H. T. Garland, 1144 Huffine Rd. #3, Johnson City, died Thursday, May 17, 2001 at her residence. Mrs. Garland was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County. She was a daughter of the late John Harrison and Tina West Heilman. Mrs. Garland was a retired store clerk.
She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and also attended Elizabethton First Church of God. Mrs. Garland was preceded in death by her husband, Luther F. Garland, in 1979, one son, Sgt. Gary Lynn Tinker, three sisters, Haley Davis, Edith Heilman and Daisy Denton. Survivors include, one daughter, Peggy Arnold, Johnson City; one son, Michael Tinker, Jonesborough; one sister, Bess Lee Leach, Johnson City; seven grandchildren, Robbie Tinker, Amanda Tinker, Johnathon Tinker, all of Jonesborough, Ronnie Arnold, Jamie Arnold and Gary L. Tinker, Jr., all of Johnson City, and Tina Arnold, Gray; five great-grandchildren; one cousin; several nieces and nephews.

Patsy Ann Hughes, age 64, 124 Shadybrook Drive, Johnson City died Wednesday, May 16, 2001 in the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital.
Miss Hughes was a native of Bakersville, North Carolina and a resident of Johnson City for most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Ralph and Myrtle Gouge Hughes. Miss Hughes was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and also attended Cherokee United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sisters, Carolyn McGuire and Barbara Young, both of Johnson City; two nieces, Stacy and Kim McGuire, Indianapolis, IN and two nephews, Gary Young, Chicago and Gregory Young, Avon, IN; three aunts, one uncle; two great nephews; several cousins. Dorothy Tipton Hensley, age 86, 2509 Watauga Road, Johnson City, died Friday, May 11, 2001 in the Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness. Mrs. Hensley was a Washington County, TN native and a daughter of the late Charles and Bertha Freeman Tipton. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Hensley was a member of Pine Grove Park United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey L. Hensley, in 1995. Survivors include one son, William B. Hensley, Johnson City; one daughter, Niota Hensley, Bristol, VA.; two sisters, Marie Rector, Clarksville, TN, and Georgia Lee Tipton, Princeton, West Virginia ; two grandchildren, James L. Ferguson and Jamie Ferguson, both of Telford; one great-grandchild, Jamie Tester.

Samuel Eddie Johns, age 61, 2799 Old Chuckey Highway, Limestone, died Sunday, May 12, 2001 in the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following a lengthy illness. A Johnson City native, Mr. Johns was a son of the late Luke L. and Irene Casida Johns. Mr. Johns was of the Catholic faith. He was a member of the Iris Society. In addition to his parents, one brother preceded Mr. Johns in death. A native of Artemus County, Kentucky, Ms. Myrick was a daughter of the late Harrison and Mossie Scalf Myrick. Ms. Myrick was a reality-leasing owner. She was a member of the Airport Christian Deciples of Christ Church in Blountville. Lena Barbee Hodge, 29, 200 Frontage Rd., Johnson City, died Monday, April 30, 2001 at her residence, following a brief illness. Mrs. Hodge was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City. She was a daughter of Wilson Kiser, Johnson City, and Georgeann Giacomo, Johnson City. Mrs. Hodge was a homemaker. She was a 1989 graduate of Sullivan Central High School, Blountville, and formerly attended Northeast State Community College, Blountville. Mrs. Hodge was a member of Southwestern Baptist Church.
She was also a member of the Eastern Star, Lodge F&AM #47, Jonesborough.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hodge is survived by her husband, Timothy R.
