Callie Marlow, 81, of Lake City, died at 1:05 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

Mrs. Marlow is survived by eight children, Harvey Marlow and his wife, Nancy, of Garrettsville, Ohio, Linda Wilson, Hubert Marlow and Rainey Jobe and her husband, Junior, all of Lake City, Otis Marlow and his wife, Jean, of Sevenhills, Ohio, Cindy Stansbury and her husband, George, of Barnsdall, Okla., Johnny Marlow and his wife, Patsy, of Greensboro, N.C., and Faye Reece of Cleveland, Ohio; her sister, Alice Wilson of Lake City; and 30 grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, in the chapel of Cox-Martin Funeral Home in Lake City with the Rev. Charlie Marlow and the Rev. Harold Duncan officiating.

Burial will follow at Mountain View cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight, Aug. 26, at the funeral home.

Edwin Marion Hunnicutt
Former TVA, Y-12 employee

Edwin Marion Hunnicutt, 82, of Oak Ridge died Thursday, Aug. 27, 1998, at Briarcliff Health Care Center.

Mr. Hunnicutt retired from Union Carbide Nuclear Division in 1980 after 37 years of service at the Oak Ridge Y-12 Plant.

Previously, he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps, Company 1437, from 1933 to 1937. He was stationed in Ridgeland, S.C., and Quitman, Miss. Mr. Hunnicutt was employed with the Tennessee Valley Authority during the construction of Cherokee and Douglas dams until moving to Oak Ridge in 1943.

He was born in Greenville, S.C., on Feb. 28, 1916, the son of John and Alma Hunnicutt, both now deceased. He was a Baptist.

Mr. Hunnicutt is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mildred Lillian Jones Hunnicutt; his son, Don Hunnicutt and his wife, Emily, of Oak Ridge; two grandchildren, Kathy Jennings and her husband, Danny, of Chattanooga, and Paul Hunnicutt and his wife, Jennifer, of Knoxville; and two great-grandchildren, Mary Christine and Natalie Louise Jennings, both of Chattanooga.

His first wife, Beatrice Louise Hunnicutt, died in 1966.

The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Steve McDonald officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, at Butler cemetery in Oliver Springs.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Dixie S. Bradley
Former Oak Ridge resident

Dixie S. Bradley, 87, of Enterprise, Ala., died Monday, Sept. 14, 1998, at Enterprise Nursing Home.

Mrs. Bradley was a former resident of Oak Ridge and a member of Central Baptist Church. She was the widow of James H. Bradley Sr.

She is survived by four daughters, Charlotte Ann Summers and her husband, Deane, of Louisville, Joan Mock and her husband, Newell, of Enterprise, Anita Sue Davidson and her husband, Jim, of Branford, Fla., and Nancy Carol Smart and her husband, Allen, of Powell; and two sons, James H. Bradley Jr., and his wife, Gwen, of Phoenix, Ariz., and George H. Bradley of Arlington, Va.

Mrs. Bradley is also survived by her sister, Melva Broome; 19 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, a grandson, Patrick Richardson Redmond, died earlier.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at McCarty's Woodhaven Chapel, 160 Edgemoor Road, Claxton.

Burial will follow at the mausoleum in Woodhaven Memorial Gardens. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

The family requests any memorials be in the form of donations to Enterprise Nursing Home, P.O. Box 311227, Enterprise, AL 36331-1227.

The Rev. Kenneth B. Combs
Former Central Baptist pastor

The Rev. Kenneth B. Combs, 81, of Oak Ridge, died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

The Rev. Combs served as pastor of Central Baptist Church for many years.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at Central Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. David McPherson, pastor at Central, the Rev. Bob Gray, associate pastor at Central, and the Rev. David Schilling, son-in-law of the Rev. Combs.

Burial will be at Anderson Memorial Gardens, Oliver Springs Highway, Clinton.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton.

The family requests any memorials be in the form of donations to the Kenneth B. Combs Endowed Scholarship Fund, in care of Carson-Newman College, CNC Box 71193, Jefferson City, TN 37760.

Hugh T. Isaacs
Electrician in early days of OR

Hugh T. Isaacs, 93, of Somerset, Ky., died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1998, at Sunrise Manor in Somerset after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Isaacs was a former resident of Oak Ridge. He was a retired electrician and helped in the construction of the city of Oak Ridge. While a resident, he was a member of First United Methodist Church.

He was born Sept. 19, 1904, in Jackson County, Ky., the son of Frances Cornelius Isaacs and Andrew Isaacs. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1923-28.

Mr. Isaacs and his wife, Ruth, were married June 27, 1930, in Somerset. His wife died earlier.

Mr. Isaacs was a member of First Baptist Church in Somerset, Masonic Lodge No. 111 F & AM and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers No. 311. He was a frequent visitor to Oak Ridge, the family said.

He is survived by two daughters, Eleanor Helton and her husband, Jim, of Oak Ridge, and Barbara Meece and her husband, Leo, of Dayton, Ohio; two sons, Joe Thomas Isaacs and his wife, Roberta, and David Lee Isaacs and his wife, Phyllis, all of Somerset; his sister, Esther Klapheke of Lexington, Ky.; 13 grandchildren, including local granddaughters, Sinden Cotter and her husband, Tim, Tasha Endsley and her husband, Dan, and Amy Bzorgi; and by 23 great-grandchildren.

Two sisters and three brothers, Mable Kincaid, Bertha Green, Leonard Isaacs, Elbert Isaacs and Chester Isaacs, died earlier.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, in the chapel of Somerset Undertaking Co., with the Rev. Robert F. Browning and the Rev. Thomas F. Adams officiating.

Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Somerset.

The family will receive friends after 5 today, Sept. 16, at Somerset Undertaking Co.

Mildred Gehrke
Mother of Oak Ridgers

Mildred Gehrke, 85, of Roan Mountain, died Tuesday night, Dec. 30, 1997, at her home.

Mrs. Gehrke was the mother of Katherine McCarter and Christine Gregg, both of Oak Ridge, and of John Surles of Roan Mountain.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, at the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home in Elizabethton.

Burial will be at the Mountain Home National cemetery in Mountain Home.

Grace Johnson
Clinton beautician

Grace Rayfield Johnson, 67, of Clinton, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

Mrs. Johnson had been a beautician for several years and was employed at Beauty Boutique in South Clinton.

She was born in Sevier County on Dec. 11, 1930, the daughter of Ashley and Ellie Rayfield, both now deceased.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of Farmer's Grove Baptist Church of Clinton.

She is survived by her husband, Carl Ray Johnson; two sons, Ira Wayne Johnson and his wife, Marilyn, of Sevierville, and Owen Johnson and his wife, Marilyn Kay, of Clinton; two grandchildren, Chenna and Colt Johnson; three brothers, Vernard Rayfield and his wife, Ruby, Oscar Rayfield and his wife, Mae, and Roy Rayfield and his wife, Betty, all of Clinton; and by several nieces and nephews.

A sister, Nell Rayfield, and two brothers, Uyless Rayfield and Loy Rayfield, died earlier.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Moss Beets and the Rev. Kenneth Seeber officiating.

Burial will follow at Farmers Grove cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Norman Kent Fearey
Retired AEC auditor

Norman Kent Fearey, 80, of Knoxville, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Knoxville where he had been since Dec. 31.

Mr. Fearey was a former Oak Ridge resident and worked for the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission, the predecessor to the Energy Resource Development Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy. He was a nuclear materials auditor in the Materials Management Division from June 1962 until his retirement in February 1976.

He was born March 11, 1917, in Detroit, Mich., the son of Maybeth Peck Robinson and Harry A. Fearey. He was a 1935 graduate of Payson High School in Payson, Utah, and attended Independence Junior College in Kansas.

Although a double amputee since January 1936, Mr. Fearey completed his college education in four years, with the help of the citizens of Independence, Kan., his son said. He graduated in 1939 from Kansas State Teachers College in Pittsburg, Kan., with a bachelor of science degree in commerce, and in 1940 did graduate work in marketing at the University of Colorado.

He left Denver in 1942 for Washington, D.C., where he lived until 1953. His employers in Washington included the U.S. Department of Labor, the National War Labor Board, Office of Price Administration, U.S. Navy Bureau of Aeronautics, the U.S. Army, U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Economic Cooperation Administration and the Office of Price Stabilization.

It was in Washington that he met and married the former Agnes Curry on June 1, 1945. The couple had three children before moving to Joliet, Ill., in 1953.

In Joliet, Mr. Fearey was employed at the Ordnance Ammunition Command as price analyst and internal auditor until coming to Oak Ridge in 1958.

After his retirement in 1976, he ran for the Third District Congressional seat, losing in the Republican Primary. In 1980 and 1982, he ran for Anderson County Court Clerk but was also unsuccessful in that attempt.

Mr. Fearey was a member of the International Order of Foresters; a Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America from the 1950s to 1995; the Anderson County Republican Party; a member of Oak Ridge Canoe and Kayak Club; a member of the Atomic City Stamp Club since 1962, serving various offices, including president; the Knoxville Philatelic Society; a member of the U.S. Canoe Association since 1980; a lifetime member of the American Association of Political and Social Sciences; the Knoxville Track Club; and the Anderson County Literacy and Tri-County Literacy councils, serving as teacher and mentor. He was also a member of First Baptist Church.

Mr. Fearey was an avid sports fan, especially of Oak Ridge High School's football and basketball teams and its track and field competitions, the family said. From 1979 to 1996, Mr. Fearey competed each year in the Swimming Expo 10,000 in Knoxville.

He was able to attend his 60th high school reunion in 1995 and his 50th college reunion in 1989 in Pittsburg, Kan.

As a lifelong traveler, one of Mr. Fearey's goals was to visit every state capital, which he did, with the possible exception of Juneau, Alaska, the family said. He did not accomplish a goal to canoe from Norris Dam to New Orleans on the Tennessee and Mississippi rivers, but in 1984, he, his son and a friend did take a week-long canoe trip from Norris Dam to the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant.

His first wife, Agnes Curry Fearey, died Jan. 30, 1993.

Mr. Fearey is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Fearey, whom he married May 6, 1994, in Knox County; three children, Hal Kent Fearey and his wife, Diana, and Charles Frank Fearey, all of Oak Ridge, and Frances McGregor of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, Clark Center III and James Center, both of Austin, Texas, and Katherine Elizabeth Buckley of Huntsville, Texas; and one great-grandchild, Lydia Buckley.

He is also survived by a sister, Helen Long of North Bend, Ore.; a brother-in-law, Dr. Frank Curry of Tacoma, Wash.; and a sister-in-law, Beryl Curry of Tacoma.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family requests any memorials be in the form of donations to the Arthritis Foundation of America, Anderson County Unit, in care of Maxine Vaden, 982 West Outer Dr., Oak Ridge, TN 37830; or to the American Cancer Society, Anderson County Unit, in care of Lee Costanzo, 103 Case Lane, Oak Ridge.

Sabra Leab
Briceville resident

Sabra Leab, 82, of Briceville, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, at Briarcliff Health Care Center.

Mrs. Leab is survived by three daughters, Dolly Hungate of Clinton, Ruby Kennedy and her husband, Steve, of the New River community, and Rosa Byrd and her husband, Norman, of Wartburg; and five sons, Ike Leab and his wife, Imogene, of Lake City, William Leab and Vaughn Leab and his wife, Pauline, all of the New River community, Hurstle Leab and his wife, Gladys, of the Medford community, and Roy Leab and his wife, Sherry, of Lake City.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, at Grave Hill Baptist Church in Briceville with the Rev. Edwin Phillips and the Rev. Don Daugherty officiating. Viewing will be the hour before the service.

Burial will be at the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, at Cox-Martin Funeral Home in Lake City.

Bulah Bisplinghoff Murr
Mother of Oak Ridge resident

Bulah Bisplinghoff Murr, 94, of Wharf Street, Loudon, died Monday morning, Jan. 19, 1998, at her home.

Mrs. Murr was the mother of Connie Barker of Oak Ridge.

She was a member of Loudon First Baptist Church.

In addition to her local daughter, she is survived by another daughter, Rella Bates and her husband, Allen, of Wilmington, Del.; two sons, David Murr and his wife, Ruby, and Curtis Murr and his wife, Frankie, all of Loudon; and by seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Her husband, David Murr, and a daughter, Alene Lance, died earlier.

The funeral will be at 8 tonight, Jan. 20, in the chapel of McGill-Karnes Funeral Home in Loudon with the Rev. Charles Earl and the Rev. Jack Belcher officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, at Loudon County Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

The family requests any memorials be in the form of donations to First Baptist Church General Fund, 413 Wharf St., Loudon, TN 37774.
