Mary Ella Harless
Poplar Creek Baptist member

Mary Ella Harless, 81, of Clinton, died Tuesday, May 5, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

Mrs. Harless was a member of Poplar Creek Baptist Church of Clinton.

She was born in Anderson County on April 14, 1917, the daughter of Oscar and Julia Redden Taylor, both now deceased. She was the widow of Robert J. Harless.

Mrs. Harless is survived by one daughter, Joyce Wood and her husband, Dan, of Clinton; one son, David Lavon Harless and his wife, Linda, of Clinton; two sisters, Hazel McKinney of Oak Ridge and Stella Lowe of Clinton; and a brother, Elmer Taylor of Clinton.

She is also survived by two grandchildren, Lisa J. Coffman and her husband, Scott, of Suffolk, Va., and Robert Michael Wood of Old Fort, Tenn.; one great-grandchild, Brandon Coffman; and several nieces and nephews.

Florence Burgess of Clinton, Ruth Owens of Marlow and Charlotte Justice of Oliver Springs were considered special friends.

Two sisters, Lily Taylor and Carrie Taylor, and three brothers, Arvil Taylor, Homer Taylor and Woodrow Taylor, died earlier.

The funeral was held Friday, May 8, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Bill Dawson and the Rev. Billy Owens officiating.

A graveside service was held Saturday, May 9, at Poplar Creek Baptist Church cemetery in Clinton.

Minnie Holt Gilmore
Mineral Springs Baptist member

Minnie Holt Gilmore of Oliver Springs died Tuesday, June 2, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

Mrs. Gilmore was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church of Oliver Springs.

She was born in Devonia, the daughter of Luke and Nell Taylor Bunch, both now deceased. She moved with her parents to the Oliver Springs area when she was age 12.

Mrs. Gilmore had worked as a cook at the former Donovan School in Oliver Springs.

She was the widow of Vestal Gilmore.

She is survived by four daughters, Billie Monroe, Brenda Justice and her husband, Jerry, and Darlene Alcorn and her husband, Burl, all of Oliver Springs, and Carolyn Jones and her husband, Loy, of Marietta, Ga.; and a son, Benny Gilmore and his wife, Janet, of Rockwood.

Mrs. Gilmore is also survived by eight grandchildren, Bobby Monroe, Laura Haber, Frances Sloan, Christy Jones, Jeremy Justice, Benny Joe Gilmore, Brandon Alcorn and Bradley Alcorn; and by seven great-grandchildren.

Velma Hooks of Oliver Springs was considered a special friend.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 4, at Mineral Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Bass, the Rev. Hayes Bass and the Rev. Gary Stinnett officiating.

Burial will follow at Mineral Springs cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 tonight, June 3, at Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs.

Brooks
Elston J. Brooks, 81, of Oak Ridge, died this morning, June 3, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Weatherford Mortuary is handling arrangements, which were incomplete this morning.

Robert Ray Morgan
Engineer technician

Robert Ray Morgan, 53, of Powell, died Monday, Sept. 21, 1998, at his home.

Mr. Morgan was an engineer technician with The Providence Group of Knoxville. Going fishing and building model planes and cars were among his interests.

He was born in Lake City on March 20, 1945, the last surviving member of his family. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Morgan was a member of Solway Missionary Baptist Church.

Jerry and Joann Davis of Oak Hill, W.Va., as well as many members of Solway Missionary Baptist Church, were considered close friends.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at Solway Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray Buchanan officiating.

Burial will be at McCarty Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton. The Rev. Ray Buchanan, Jeff Howell, Rob Buchanan, Don Cameron, John Alred and R.W. "Butch" Morrow will be pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 tonight, Sept. 23, at Weatherford Mortuary.

The family requests any memorials be in the form of donations to Solway Missionary Baptist Church, 9013 Solway Ferry Road, Knoxville, TN 37931.

Bonnie Johnson
Lake City resident

Bonnie Johnson, 89, of Lake City, died Monday, Sept. 21, 1998, at Lake City Health Care Center.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her daughter, Jamie Cox and her husband, Ted, of Rockwood; and her son, Charlie F. Johnson and his wife, Wilma, of the Medford community; and five grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 8 tonight, Sept. 23, in the chapel of Cox-Martin Funeral Home in Lake City with the Rev. Jimmy Ault officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at Beech Grove cemetery in Lake City.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Jimmy Clayton Harvey Jr.
Mount Pisgah Baptist member

Jimmy Clayton Harvey Jr., 29, of Oliver Springs, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1998, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center at Knoxville.

Mr. Harvey was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Oliver Springs. He enjoyed doing volunteer work in the print shop of the church as well as other activities, the family said.

He was born Sept. 5, 1969, in Oak Ridge.

Mr. Harvey is survived by his father, Jimmy Clayton Harvey Sr. and his wife, Evelyn, of Chattanooga; his mother, Linda Mercer and her husband, Buddy, of Marlow; his grandmother, Jean Craig of Oliver Springs; his sister, Andrea Gouge and her husband, Michael, of Oliver Springs; two nieces, Amber Gouge and Briana Mathis; his nephew, Jonathan Gouge; his stepsister, Maria Mercer of Dayton; his stepbrother, Johnny Mercer of Clinton; and by several cousins, aunts and uncles.

His other grandparents, Glen Craig and the Rev. and Mrs. C.S. Harvey, are deceased.

The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Garvan Walls officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at Mount Pisgah cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Donna Lee Mendenhall
Mother of ORHS student

Donna Lee Mendenhall, 40, of Clinton, died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1998, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center at Knoxville of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Ms. Mendenhall was the mother of Dillon Mendenhall Snider of Oak Ridge, a sophomore at Oak Ridge High School.

She was born in Knoxville on Jan. 15, 1958, the daughter of Benny Ray and Lynda Mendenhall of Knoxville, who survive her. She was a graduate of Karns High School and attended the University of Tennessee.

Ms. Mendenhall was a former employee of Martin Marietta Energy Systems and had worked at the K-25 Site as an administrative assistant.

She was a member of Beaver Ridge United Methodist Church in Knoxville. She enjoyed antiques and dogs, the family said.

In addition to her son and her parents, she is survived by her brother, Darrel Mendenhall and his wife, Denise, of Knoxville.

The funeral will be at 8 tonight, Sept. 17, in the chapel of Highland Memorial Funeral Home, 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18, at Highland Memorial cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

The family requests any memorials be in the form of donations to a charity of the donor's choice.

Jeffrey Martin Breazeale
ORHS graduate

Jeffrey Martin Breazeale, 38, of Oak Ridge, died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 1998, at his home.

Mr. Breazeale was born July 31, 1960, in Elkhart, Ind. He was the son of Margaret Jean Breazeale of Oak Ridge and James Martin Breazeale of Las Vegas, Nev. He and his parents came to Oak Ridge in 1967 and he graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1978.

He spent most of his working years in Houston, Texas, most recently in construction for the J.T. Thorpe Co. of Houston.

Mr. Breazeale attended Woodland Park Baptist Church. He was an avid reader and was considered an excellent cook, the family said. He also enjoyed fishing and all sports.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughter, Kelsey Leigh Breazeale of Houston; his sister, Janice M. Raines of Oak Ridge; his brother, James R. Breazeale of Oak Ridge; and his niece, Heather M. Raines of Oak Ridge.

Kim Parks, Kristin Parks and David Santos, all of Oak Ridge, were considered special friends.

Mr. Breazeale's maternal grandparents, Clarence R. and Verna R. Ketner, died earlier.

The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Daniel Mayes officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary.

The family requests any memorials be in the form of donations to Woodland Park Baptist Church, 200 Manhattan Ave., Oak Ridge, TN 37830.

James R. Wildman
Caryville resident

James R. Wildman, 79, of Caryville, died Tuesday, July 28, 1998, at LaFollette Medical Center.

Mr. Wildman is survived by his wife, Violet May Wildman; a daughter, Linda Maples and her husband, Mack, of Newport News, Va.; and a son, James O. Wildman and his wife, Diana, of Caryville.

The funeral will be held at 8 tonight, July 29, in the chapel of Cox-Martin Funeral Home in Lake City.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 31, at Miles cemetery in Rutland, Ohio.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Freels
E.T. Freels of Roswell, Ga., formerly of the Wheat community, died Tuesday, July 28, 1998, in Roswell.

Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs is handling arrangements, which were incomplete this morning.

Della Shepherd
Kentucky resident

Della Shepherd, 77, of Hueysville, Ky., died Monday, July 27, 1998, at Fort Sanders Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.

Mrs. Shepherd is survived by two daughters, Buelah Leitch of Versailles, Ky., and Kristina Strohschein of Knoxville; and a brother, Ivory Howard of Magoffin County, Ky.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 30, at the Martha Handshoe Living Pentecostal Church in Magoffin County.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

The family was to receive friends after 3 this afternoon, July 29, at the Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home in Martin, Ky.

Weatherford Mortuary is handling local arrangements.
