Franklin L.J. Bunch
Heating and air subcontractor

Franklin L.J. Bunch, 53, of Knoxville, died Sunday, Aug. 30, 1998, at his home.

Mr. Bunch was a subcontractor and installed central heating and air conditioning.

He was born in Anderson County on March 20, 1945, the son of Roy and Susie Bunch, both now deceased. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.

Mr. Bunch was a member of First Baptist Church of Briceville.

He is survived by a son, Franklin Dewayne Bunch and his wife, Mary Jane, of Clinton; two sisters, Juanita Foust of Lake City and Frances Weaver and her husband, Bob, of Knoxville; two brothers, Hubert Bunch of Knoxville and Archie Bunch and his wife, Alice, of Dutch Valley; three grandchildren, Eric, Briana and Zachary Bunch; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City with the Rev. Lee Phillips officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Clinton.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Madeline Sain Franklin
Retired Y-12 secretary

Madeline Sain Franklin, 72, of Oak Ridge, died Saturday, Aug. 29, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge after a long illness with emphysema.

Mrs. Franklin had been a resident of Oak Ridge for 54 years. She had retired from Martin Marietta Energy Systems after 45 years of service as a secretary at the Oak Ridge Y-12 Plant.

Born in Vale, N.C., she was the daughter of Curtis and Junie Houser Sain. She attended Lenoir-Rhyne College.

Mrs. Franklin was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Her family described her as a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed her home, flowers and decorations at Christmas.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, J.D. Franklin; two sons, Dr. Stephen Franklin and his wife, Hannah, and Roger Franklin and his wife, Sheree, all of Knoxville; grandchildren Allison and Kate Franklin; and step-grandchildren Laura Lee and Susannah Harris.

Mrs. Franklin is also survived by four brothers, Miller Sain, Philo Sain and his wife, Mae, Blake Sain and his wife, Ruth, and Walter Sain and his wife, Myrtle; and nieces and nephews Mary, Debbie, Peggy, Barbara, Gary and Darryl.

The funeral will be held at 8 tonight, Aug. 31, in the chapel of McCarty-Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Edmond and the Rev. Michael Johnson officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Harold Brendle is the honorary pallbearer.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Edwin Marion Hunnicutt
Former TVA, Y-12 employee

Edwin Marion Hunnicutt, 82, of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 1998, at Briarcliff Health Care Center.

Mr. Hunnicutt retired from Union Carbide Nuclear Division in 1980 after 37 years of service at the Oak Ridge Y-12 Plant.

Previously, he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps., Company 1437, from 1933 to 1937. He was stationed in Ridgeland, S.C., and Quitman, Miss. Mr. Hunnicutt was employed with the Tennessee Valley Authority during the construction of Cherokee and Douglas dams until moving to Oak Ridge in 1943.

He was born in Greenville, S.C., on Feb. 28, 1916, the son of John and Alma Nations Hunnicutt, both now deceased. He was a Baptist.

Mr. Hunnicutt is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mildred Lillian Jones Hunnicutt; his son, Don Hunnicutt and his wife, Emily, of Oak Ridge; two grandchildren, Kathy Jennings and her husband, Danny, of Chattanooga, and Paul Hunnicutt and his wife, Jennifer, of Knoxville; two great-grandchildren, Mary Christine and Natalie Louise Jennings, both of Chattanooga; and three grandnieces, Robbie Ollis and Mattie Lou Collette, both of Oliver Springs, and Becky Stone of Oak Ridge.

Eddie Jones was considered a special friend.

His first wife, Beatrice Louise Hunnicutt, died in 1966.

The funeral was held Saturday night, Aug. 29, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Steve McDonald officiating.

A graveside service was held Sunday, Aug. 30, at Butler cemetery in Oliver Springs.

Andy Dale Parkey Jr.
Rockwood resident

Andy Dale Parkey Jr., 53, of North Kingston Ave., Rockwood, died Saturday, Aug. 29, 1998, at Roane Medical Center in Harriman.

Mr. Parkey is survived by his wife, Annette D. Parkey; his son, Matthew Dale Parkey and his wife, Darla Sprouse Parkey, of Indianapolis, Ind.; his daughter, Andrea Corzine and her husband, Chris Corzine, of Stephenville, Texas; his mother, Gladys Blanche Parkey of Rockwood; two stepdaughters, Jennifer Gail Watson and Becky Ferrell and her husband, Todd Ferrell, all of Rockwood; and his sister, Clara Hawks and her husband, Dan Hawks, of Montevallo, Ala.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, in the chapel of Evans Mortuary in Rockwood with the Rev. Roy Langley and Albert Griffin officiating.

Burial will follow at Oak Grove cemetery. Members of the Roane County Volunteer Honor Guard will conduct military rites with full honors.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, Aug. 31, at the mortuary.

Earl Duff
Retired K-25 electrician

Earl Duff, 78, of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, Sept. 3, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

Mr. Duff retired from Martin Marietta Energy Systems in 1985 as an electrician at the Oak Ridge K-25 Site.

He was born in Walker, La., on July 17, 1920, the son of Lura and Richard Edward Duff.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Mr. Duff enjoyed gardening and making handcrafted items and in earlier years he enjoyed bowling.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Duff; his son, Verdice Duff and his wife, Kathy, of Cookeville; two sisters, Veda Tohline of Jonesboro, La., and Tessie Hall of Lake Charles, La.; two grandchildren, Kimberly Duff and Matthew Duff, both of Cookeville; and several nieces and nephews.

Another sister, Alzire Barnes, died earlier this year.

The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Michael Johnson officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary.

The family requests any memorials be in the form of donations to the American Cancer Society, Anderson County Unit, in care of Lee Costanzo, 103 Case Lane, Oak Ridge, TN 37830.

Eugene Hohman
Retired carpenter

Eugene Hohman, 91, of Clinton, died Thursday, Sept. 3, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

He was a carpenter for 40 years. His first job was working on the construction of First Baptist Church in Clinton.

Survivors are two daughters and sons-in-law, Caroline and Marvin Owens and Deloris and L.B. Crowley, all of Clinton; one son and daughter-in-law, Lowell and Norma Hohman, of Clinton; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

His wife, Veena Louise Hohman, son, Jack Hohman, sister, Dena Boatright, brother, Raymond Hohman, and parents, Henry and Caroline Hohman all died earlier.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Satuday, Sept. 5, 1998, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton.

The funeral service will follow at 8:30 p.m. with the Rev. James Evers officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Sunset cemetery in Clinton.

Orville Fred Kimball
ORNL materials scientist

Orville Fred Kimball, 65, of Oak Ridge died Friday, Aug. 21, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

He was born Dec. 25, 1932, in Sterling, Ill., to parents, Orville Miller Kimball and Ollie Christine Woessner Kimball.

He graduated from Sterling Hill School and attended Augustana College at Rock Island, Ill. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana, Ill., his master's degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y. and his doctorate from Northwestern University at Evanston, Ill.

Mr. Kimball was a veteran with the U.S. Army.

He worked as an associate professor of materials science at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, Mich. Later he was employed by Gulf General Atomic Lab at La Jolla, Calif., and General Electric Corp., at Schenectady, N.Y.

He later worked as a materials scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory when it was operated by Martin Marietta Energy Systems. He retired from Martin Marietta.

Mr. Kimball was a member of the American Society of Metals. He also served as a Boy Scout leader for many years.

An accomplished pianist, he also sang with several choral groups including the San Diego Symphonic Choir and the Octavos Singers of Schenectady, N.Y.

Mr. Kimball is survived by his daughter, Karen Elizabeth Kimball, of Washington, D.C.; his sons, David Norman Kimball of Buffalo, N.Y., Gregg Orville Kimball, and his wife, Donna, of Schenectady; Steven Miller Kimball, and his wife, Sherry, of Madison, Wisc.; and his sister, Mrs. Manuel "Ruth" Darush, of Jacksonville, Fla.

A graveside service was held at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling, Ill. on Wednesday, Aug. 26.

Memorials can be sent to the Oak Ridge Humane Society Inc., 1345 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Suite 366, Oak Ridge, TN., 37830.

Weatherford Mortuary was in charge of local arrangements.

Regina Davenport
Former Oak Ridge resident

Regina Davenport, 65, of Sarasota, Fla., died Thursday, Sept. 17, 1998, in Sarasota of heart failure.

Ms. Davenport was a former resident of Oak Ridge.

She is survived by two children, Frank Lochran of Evansville, Ind., and Tina Turner of Kingston; eight brothers and sisters, Michael Brown and Cathy Brown, both of Coalfield, Phyliss Cole and Flora Risner, both of Oak Ridge, Paulette Wright of Gatlinburg, Carlye Davis of Sarasota, Carol Oakler of Knoxville and Paul Brown of Columbus, Ga.; and by four grandchildren.

Cremation took place in Sarasota.

The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to the American Heart Association, 4708 Papermill Road, Knoxville, TN 37909.

Kenneth Raymond Perry
Briceville resident

Kenneth Raymond Perry, 82, of Briceville, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1998, at Windwood Health & Rehabilitation Center in Clinton.

Mr. Perry is survived by four daughters, Lena Rose Perry of Briceville, Mary Wright and Kathy Taylor, both of Lake City, and Debbie Nelson of Medford; two sons, Riley Perry and David Perry, both of Briceville; and four brothers, Lester Perry of Oak Ridge, Elmer Perry of Pine Knot, Ky., Lawrence Perry of Ohio and Dewey Perry of Whitley City, Ky.

The funeral will be held at 8 tonight, Sept. 24, in the chapel of Cox-Martin Funeral Home in Lake City with the Rev. Steve Seiber officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at Circle cemetery in Briceville.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Jack 'Jackie' Leon Rogers
Former Oak Ridge resident

Jack "Jackie" Leon Rogers of Bristol, Va., and a former resident of Oak Ridge, died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1998, at Hospice House of Bristol.

He was the son of Wayne and Libby Rogers of Morganton, N.C. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Mr. Rogers was self-employed as a tree surgeon.

He was a member of the Rockwood Masonic Lodge and the Knights of Pythias. He attended Freewill Baptist Church of Bluff City.

Mr. Rogers is survived by his wife, Judy Rogers; two daughters, Lisa Pittman of Connecticut and Frankie Hicks of Oliver Springs; two sons, John David of Bristol and David Lee Crisp of Robbinsville, N.C.; three brothers, Harold Rogers of Bristol, Tenn., and David Rogers and Tony Rogers, both of Morganton; and two sisters, Marilyn Hawkins of Morganton and Reba Kay Kirk of Drexel, N.C.

The funeral was held on Friday, Sept. 11, at Bearcreek Baptist Church in Robbinsville with the Rev. Jack Long and Gene Wilson officiating.

Burial was at the church cemetery.
