Cecile Louise Moses

Cecile Louise Stout Moses, 82, of Mountain Road, Andersonville, died Saturday evening, July 11, 1998, at her home.

Mrs. Moses was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Clinton.

She was the daughter of Oscar and Carrie Ayres Stout. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Moses is survived by four daughters, Carolyn House and her husband, John, of Knoxville, Susan Moses and Elaine Overdyk and her husband, Dennis, all of Andersonville, and Jane Reynolds and her husband, Dan of Portage, Mich.; and a son, William "Billy" Ward and his wife, Lisa, of Lake City.

She is also survived by a brother, Earl Stout and his wife, Gladys, of Jellico; a sister-in-law, Aileen Stout of Morristown; and 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Her first husband, Arthur Ward, and her second husband, Lawrence Moses, died earlier, as did a son, Marvin F. Ward, and a brother, Roy M. Stout.

The funeral will be held at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Gene Roach and the Rev. Marty Stooksbury officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, at Bells Campground cemetery. The grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mirl Lee Whitmire Stacks
Mother of Oak Ridge resident

Mirl Lee Whitmire Stacks, 89, of Sheridan, Ark., died Saturday, July 11, 1998, at her home.

Mrs. Stacks is survived by her husband, Wesley Luther Stacks; two daughters, Sue C. Scroggs of Oak Ridge and Pat Ramsey of East End, Ark.; a sister, Myrtis Stevens of Sheridan; and eight grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, at Bethel North cemetery near Sheridan with the Rev. C.M. Lewallen, the Rev. Bob Stevens and the Rev. Alvin K. Pitt officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 today, July 13, at Buie Funeral Home in Sheridan.

Joyce 'Jo' Trott Ward
Daughter of Oak Ridge resident

Joyce "Jo" Ann Trott Ward of 2407 Hatcher Drive, Knoxville, died at 11:45 a.m. Sunday, July 12, 1998, at her home.

Mrs. Ward was the daughter of Mary "Peggy" Parker of Oak Ridge. Her father, Claude Parker, died earlier.

She had been a homemaker most of her life. She was a frequent visitor to Oak Ridge, especially during her father's illness a few years ago, her family said. Mrs. Ward was a member of Middlebrook Baptist Church in Knoxville.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Milton Ward; three children, Mary Roberts and her husband, Mark, Larry Joe Trott and his wife, Jennifer, and Richard A. Trott and his wife, Cathey, all of Knoxville; a brother, Ben Smith and his wife, Marilyn, of Crystal River, Fla.; and by seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, in the chapel of Rose Mortuary, Broadway Chapel, Knoxville.

Family and close friends will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight, July 13, at the mortuary.

Alvin Lee Wright
Former Dyllis resident

Alvin Lee Wright, 69, of Cleveland, Ohio, died Saturday, July 11, 1998, in Cleveland.

Mr. Wright was a former resident of the Dyllis community of Roane County. He had lived in Cleveland since 1951.

He worked for TRW in Cleveland as a foundryman for 40 years until his retirement in 1991.

Born March 4, 1929, in Dyllis, he was the son of Dewey and Irene Goans Wright, who are now deceased. Mr. Wright was a Baptist.

He is survived by his wife, Paula Brown Wright; a daughter, Sandy Burke and her husband, Steve, of Mentor, Ohio; a grandson, Ryan Borgman of Mentor; three sisters, Helen Nation of Oliver Springs, Dorothy Jackson of Coalfield and Kay Sampson of Marietta, Ga.; four brothers, John Wright of Oliver Springs, Grover Wright of Morristown and Tommy Wright and Ronnie Wright, both of Dyllis; and by several nieces and nephews.

Coleen and Clinton Robinette Sr. and Janet Sponaugle, all of Cleveland, Ohio, were considered special friends.

Three sisters, Edna Justice, Mary Jo Hartbarger and Cora Myrtle Wright, died earlier.

The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Billy Edmonds and the Rev. Mack Smith officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, at Dyllis cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Addie May Reed Mull
Mother of area residents

Addie May Reed Mull, 90, of Lake Lure, N.C., died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. She had been staying with family in the area for the past few months.

Mrs. Mull was the widow of Martin Van Buren Mull.

She was the daughter of the Rev. Arthur Ernest Reed and Leatha Etta Morris Reed of Black Mountain, N.C., both now deceased. She was born in Black Mountain on Nov. 1, 1907, and was married at her father's home in Black Mountain in September 1924.

She lived in the Bills Creek community at Lake Lure from 1931 to 1998, and was a member of the Bills Creek Missionary Baptist Church, where she had taught Sunday school for more than 50 years. Mrs. Mull had also been lunch room manager at the Lake Lure School, where according to her family she was fondly called "Granny Mull."

She is survived by four children, Agnes Mull Deviney of Chattanooga, Margaret Mull Long of Heiskell, and Ernest Warren Mull and Robert Franklin Mull, both of Clinton; and a stepdaughter, Lillie Mae Mull Miller of Swannanoa, N.C.

In addition to her husband and parents, two sons, Peter Van Buren Mull and David Thomas Mull, died earlier, as did six stepchildren, Cora Lee Mull of Black Mountain, Elbert Braxton Mull, who died in the Army at Fort Bragg, N.C., Evie Zadie Mull Wilson of Lake Lure, Martin Henry Mull of Marion, N.C., and Mary Louise Mull Morris and Johnnie Joel Mull Patton, both of Swannanoa.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at Bills Creek Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Walker officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight, Aug. 20, at Crowe's Mortuary and Chapel Inc., in Rutherfordton, N.C.

Minnie Davidson Bates
Former Oak Ridge resident

Minnie Davidson Bates, 55, of St. Paul, Minn., died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at her home.

Born on Nov. 28, 1942, in Greenville, Ala., she moved with her family to Oak Ridge in the city's early days. Her mother, Esther Davidson of Oak Ridge, survives her. Her father, William Davidson, died earlier.

Mrs. Bates was a Baptist and attended a community church in St. Paul, her family said.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by three sons, Richard Bates Jr. and his wife, Christine, Ray Bates and Trina Timms, all of St. Paul, and Charles Bates and his wife, Markinina, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; also 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Survivors also include five sisters, Pearl Staples and her husband, Elvin, Ethel Sykes and her husband, Otto, Sally Ann Davidson, all of Oak Ridge, Rosie Davidson of St. Paul, and Geneva Davidson of Phoenix, Ariz.; five brothers, Joseph Davidson, William Davidson Jr., Elijah Davidson, Roger Davidson, all of Oak Ridge, and John Davidson of St. Paul.

Antonette Bates was a special person in Mrs. Bates' life, her family said.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.

Loraine Boshears Golden
North Clinton Baptist member

Loraine Boshears Golden, 70, of Clinton, died Wednesday morning, April 8, 1998, at her home.

Mrs. Golden was a homemaker and was a member of North Clinton Baptist Church. She was the widow of Jim Sullivan.

She was born in Harlan County, Ky., on Sept. 19, 1927, the daughter of George and Eula Mae Smith Boshears, both now deceased.

Mrs. Golden is survived by a daughter, Jane Altum, and her husband, Robert, of Clinton; and four sons, Ronny Golden, Harold Golden and his wife, Linda, Charles "Rusty" Golden and his wife, Kathy, and Ricky Golden and his fiancée Diane, all of Clinton.

She is also survived by four sisters, Maude Blanch Patterson and her husband, Edward, of Clinton, Martha Mae Greenwood and her husband, Clovis, of Livingston, Lucy Jean Ballanger and Jewell Dean Jones and her husband, David, all of Kentucky; and by 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Denice Inman Golden and Sherry Mingie were considered special friends.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 11, in the chapel of Anderson County Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Howard Bailey, the Rev. Jack Taylor and the Rev. Michael Leffew officiating.

Burial will follow at Sunset cemetery in Clinton.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 10, at the funeral home.

Grady W. Smith
Lenoir City resident

Grady W. Smith, 80, of Lenoir City, died Tuesday afternoon, April 7, 1998, at Loudon Hospital.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Virginia D. Smith; two daughters, Mary Lorene Kirk of Bradford and Norma Jean Miller of Hollywood, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Carol Cable of Lenoir City; two brothers, Early Smith of Gainesboro and Owen Smith of Murfreesboro; and four grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 8 tonight, April 9, in the chapel of Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City with the Rev. Doug Alexander officiating.

A graveside service, conducted by members of Avery Masonic Lodge, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 10, at Loudon County Memorial Gardens,

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

E. Gray Beasley Jr.
Retired TVA engineer, manager

E. Gray Beasley Jr., 70, a 43-year resident of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, April 26, 1998, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville.

Mr. Beasley, an engineer, was retired as a manager with Tennessee Valley Authority, where he worked from 1950 to 1986.

He had also worked for Performance Development Corp., from 1987 to 1996.

Mr. Beasley was a past president of the Oak Ridge-Knoxville Section of the American Nuclear Society. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and a former member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

He was an active volunteer at First United Methodist Church and with various other organizations in the community, his family said.

Born in Aspen Hill, Tenn., on April 29, 1927, he was the son of Lorene Jones and E. Gray Beasley Sr. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. Beasley is survived by his wife, Mildred Yarbrough Beasley; two daughters, Beth Zeldes and her husband, Mike, of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Lori Prosise and her husband, Jeff, of Farragut; a son, Ben Beasley and his wife, Patty, of Sterling, Va.; five sisters, Connie Guschke and Rene Underwood, both of Columbia, Tenn., Nita Ramsey of Lees Summit, Mo., Mary Demastus of Nashville and Nancy Gertschen of Memphis; and a brother, Bill Beasley of Atlanta, Ga.

He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Brian, Becky, Andrew Gray, Anna and Betsy Beasley, John and Gray Zeldes, and Adam Gray, Amy and Abby Prosise; and several nieces and nephews.

A son, Billy Beasley, died on Jan. 20, 1972, and a sister, Sally Harris, died in April 1976.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m.today, April 28, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ken Henderlight officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. today and immediately following the memorial service, both in the church parlor.

The family requests any memorials be in the form of donations to First United Methodist Church, 1350 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge, TN 37830.

Weatherford Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Lucy DeMarcus Ezell
Andersonville resident

Lucy DeMarcus Ezell, 90, of Andersonville, died Sunday, April 26, 1998, at Mariner Health of Norris.

Mrs. Ezell is survived by a daughter, Linda Ezell of Clinton; three sons, Hersal Ezell and his wife, Nora, and Loren Ezell and his wife, Eva, all of Andersonville and Gary Ezell and his wife, Pat, of Norris; and a sister, Cillar Warwick of Andersonville.

The funeral will be at 8 tonight, April 28, in the chapel of Anderson County Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Bill Ellis officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 2. p.m. Wednesday, April 29, at Mount Olive Baptist Church cemetery in Andersonville.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
