Johnnie George, 73, of Lake City, died Monday, Oct. 27, 1997, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

Mr. George is survived by his wife of 48 years, Billie Louise George; three daughters, Linda Duncan and her husband, Lynn, of Clinton, Sandra Patton and her husband, Wayne, of Caryville, and Patti Tindell and her husband, Johnny, of Lake City; and by two sisters, Margaret Jennings of Lake City and Gladys Hunley and her husband, Lester, of Cleveland.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, at Leach cemetery in Lake City with the Rev. Leslie Arrwood and the Rev. Bill Thomas officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, Oct. 29, at Cox-Martin Funeral Home in Lake City. A Masonic service will be held at 8.

William F. 'Floyd' Kesterson
Lake City resident

William F. "Floyd" Kesterson, 84, of Lake City, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 1997, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

Mr. Kesterson is survived by three sons, Ronald I. Kesterson of Knoxville, Kenneth Kesterson and his wife, Judy, and David E. Kesterson and his wife, Rhonda, all of Medford; and a sister, Georgia Parks of Lake City.

The funeral will be held at 8 tonight, Oct. 29, at Clinch River Baptist Church in Lake City with the Rev. Tom Byrge and the Rev. George DeLozier officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, at Clinch River cemetery. Masonic rites will be conducted.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the church.

Cox-Martin Funeral Home in Lake City is in charge of arrangements.

Garnet Walters West
Claxton Church of God member

Garnet Walters West, 88, of Claxton, died Monday, Oct. 27, 1997, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Knoxville.

Mrs. West was a member of Claxton Church of God.

She was born in Bluefield, W.Va., on Feb. 1, 1909, the daughter of Earnest and Orda Walters. Her family described her as a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was the widow of Claude Earl West.

Mrs. West is survived by two daughters, Faye West and Alma Moneymaker, both of Clinton; a son, David West of Claxton; four sisters, Lillie Coward and Clara Miller, both of Knoxville, Margaret Bohannon of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Martha Haun of Claxton; and four brothers, Harold Walters of Oak Ridge, the Rev. Albert Walters of Powell, and Amos Walters and Edward Walters, both of Knoxville.

She is also survived by two grandchildren, Steve Moneymaker and Max Moneymaker and his wife, Tracy, all of Claxton; two great-grandchildren, Candace Moneymaker and Dustin Moneymaker; and by several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A sister and a brother, Barbara Walters and Ralph Walters, and a son-in-law, R.S. Moneymaker, died earlier.

The funeral will be held at 8:30 tonight, Oct. 29, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Pratt Hughes officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, at Lynch-Bethel cemetery, Emory Road, Powell.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Geraldine G. Canada
Amateur pilot, former nanny

Geraldine G. "Geri" Canada, 81, of Oak Ridge, died of cancer Wednesday, June 17, 1998, at NHC HealthCare of Oak Ridge.

Mrs. Canada was born in 1917 in Utley, Texas, the oldest of five children of Willie Mae and Thomas Gery.

She married Emeral "Em" Canada in 1940. His work in commercial construction required them to move 53 times in 33 years, the family said.

The Canadas were located in the Philippines during the late 1940s, at which time Mrs. Canada took flying lessons and became an expert amateur pilot.

Other work locations included Belgium and Oak Ridge. The family said the couple liked the Oak Ridge area so much that they moved here after Mr. Canada retired in 1972.

Mrs. Canada loved to dance, travel and sew, but her favorite occupation was caring for children, the family said. After her husband's death in 1978, she served as a nanny to many Oak Ridge children.

She is survived by a stepson and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 20, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

The family requests any memorials be in the form of donations to the American Cancer Society, 871 Weisgarber Road, Knoxville, TN 37909; or to the American Diabetes Association, 6906 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919.

McCarty-Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Myrtle E. Bolden
Tuppertown Baptist member

Myrtle E. Beck Bolden, 65, of Oliver Springs, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1997, at her home.

Mrs. Bolden was a member of Tuppertown Baptist Church in Oliver Springs.

She was born Aug. 2, 1932, in North Carolina, the daughter of George and Hattie Hurts Beck. She had lived in the Oliver Springs area for the past 45 years.

Mrs. Bolden is survived by her husband, Carter Bolden; a daughter, Linda Parker and her husband, Dale, of Oliver Springs; three sons, Jimmy Ray Bolden of Oliver Springs, Michael S. Bolden and his wife, Katherine, of Oak Ridge, and James Carl Bolden of Harriman; a sister, Eula Mae Andrews of Oliver Springs; and nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A son, Richard Dennis Bolden, and two sisters, Beulah Jackson and Nellie Breeden, are deceased.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at Tuppertown Baptist Church, 205 Church Street, Oliver Springs. The Rev. Bryson Pride, the Rev. Ralph Wilson and the Rev. Robert Rose will officiate.

Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens, Oliver Springs Highway, Clinton.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, Oct. 17, at Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs.

Betty Jean Rose
Retired Y-12, K-25 employee

Betty Jean Beck Rose, 62, of Knoxville, died this morning, Oct. 17, 1997, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville.

Mrs. Rose was retired from Martin Marietta Energy Systems. She began working at the Department of Energy's plants while they were operated by Union Carbide Nuclear Division. Most of her work years were spent at the Oak Ridge Gaseous Diffusion Plant, later named K-25 Site. She was later transferred to the Y-12 Plant, where she remained until her retirement in 1994.

She was born March 20, 1935, in High Point, N.C., the daughter of Olin Hobart Beck and Daisy Robinson Beck.

Mrs. Rose was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Knoxville and served as the secretary for the Ambassadors Sunday School Class. She was also secretary for the Gideons International Auxiliary-Knoxville Southwest.

She was a retired member of the Professional Secretaries International and was an avid fan of the University of Tennessee football team. She also enjoyed traveling, flowers and spending time with her grandchildren. She had a great love for animals, her husband said, especially of the two family dogs, Sweetie I, now deceased, and Sweetie II.

In addition to her parents, a brother, Robert L. Beck, is deceased.

Mrs. Rose is survived by her husband, Ronald Rose; two stepdaughters, Tonya S. Johnson of Harrison Bay and Melissa Kay Rose of Knoxville.

The funeral will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Clarence Gresham officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 20, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.

The family requests any memorials be in the form of donations to Gideons International, P.O. Box 4213, Oak Ridge, TN 37831.

Clarence G. Christiansen
Retired Carbide machinist

Clarence Goodwin Christiansen, 85, of Oak Ridge, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 1997, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

Mr. Christiansen was a retired machinist with Union Carbide Nuclear Division. He worked at both the Oak Ridge Y-12 Plant and the Oak Ridge K-25 Site.

He was born on Sept. 15, 1912, in Duluth, Minn., the son of Edward M. and Gunhild Larson Christiansen. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Christiansen was a member of First Baptist Church of Oak Ridge and of the Kingston Union Masonic Lodge No. 38, F&AM, and the Organ-izers Club.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Bendure Christiansen; three daughters, Mary Lynn Boyd and her husband, Alvin W. Boyd, of Knoxville, Karen Lee Van Hoesen and her husband, Dirk Van Hoesen, of Clinton, and Patti Cooke of New York, N.Y.; a son, Eric Douglas Christiansen of Greeneville; two sisters, Marjorie Lindberg of Minneapolis, Minn., and Esther Kloven of White Bear Lake, Minn.; and a brother, Edward Christiansen and his wife, Madelyn Christiansen, of Coon Rapids, Minn.

Mr. Christiansen is also survived by four grandchildren, Alyson Ryan Christiansen, a junior at the University of Georgia in Athens, Justin Reid Dunaway, a senior at Oak Ridge High School, Tricia Coen of New York, N.Y., and Charise Cooke of Los Angeles, Calif.; and one great-grandchild, Buster Jacob Cohen of New York, N.Y.

A brother and sister-in-law, Jerald and Lucille Christiansen, died earlier.

The funeral will be held at 7:30 tonight, Oct. 27, in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Larry Dipboye officiating.

A private graveside service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 28, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 tonight at the mortuary.

The family requests any memorials be in the form of donations to Holston United Methodist Church Home for Children, P.O. Box 188, Greeneville, TN 37744.

Geneva Herrell Fraker
Powell resident

Geneva Roxy Fraker, 85, of Powell, died Thursday evening, Oct. 23, 1997, at Rockwood Health Care Center after a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Fraker was a homemaker. She was born in Anderson County on Aug. 29, 1912, the daughter of John and Dena D. Herrell. She was a Baptist.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Eliga H. Fraker; a son, Lonnie Fraker and his wife, Pat, of Karns; two grandchildren, Mark Fraker and his wife, Suzanna, and Jeff Fraker and his wife, Julie, all of Powell; and by three great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held Saturday night, Oct. 25, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. J.D. Ridenour officiating.

A graveside service was held Sunday, Oct. 26, at Piney Grove cemetery in Clinton.

Bob G. Russell
Knoxville resident

Bob G. Russell, 62, of Knoxville, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 1997, at Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville.

Mr. Russell is survived by his mother, Lolas Russell of Halls; two daughters, Shirley Green and her husband, Jerry, and Sheila Schultz and her husband, Danny; a son, Travis Russell and his wife, Athena; two sisters, Lavetta Clement and June Wamack; and three brothers, Homer Russell, Archie Russell and Roger Russell.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, in the chapel of Mynatt Funeral Home, Knoxville, with the Rev. James Wiseman officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenwood cemetery, Knoxville, with members of the East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard conducting full military rites.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, Oct. 27, at the funeral home.

Betty Sue Goins
South Clinton Baptist member

Betty Sue Pickle Goins, 69, of Clinton, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

Mrs. Goins was a member of South Clinton Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.

She was the daughter of Truman and Blanche Straton Pickle, both now deceased, and the widow of Lawrence W. Goins.

Mrs. Goins is survived by a daughter, Linda Pitts and her husband, Daniel, of Knoxville; a son, Larry K. Goins and his wife, Helen, of Lilburn, Ga.; a sister, Joyce Bannister of LaFollette; and by three grandchildren, Randy Goins of Clinton and Stephanie and Sara Pitts of Knoxville.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, at McCarty Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 tonight, Jan. 2, at Anderson County Funeral Home in Clinton.
