James Marvin Edmons
Heiskell resident

James Marvin Edmons, 54, of Heiskell, died Monday, March 30, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

Mr. Edmons was born in Pikeville, Tenn., on May 15, 1943, the son of Amon and Florence Edmons, both now deceased. He was a member of Shadyvale Church of God in Pikeville.

He loved fishing, gardening, beekeeping and woodworking, his family said.

Mr. Edmons is survived by his wife, Bonnie Edmons; three daughters, Linda Scrudder and her husband, Ernie, of Heiskell, Cindy Maningold of Florida and Jennifer Dove and her husband, Bobby, of Cleveland; two sons, Douglas Allen Edmons of Heiskell and Charles Coleman of Ooltewah; three sisters, Dorothy Brown of Pikeville and Martha Weeks and Wilma Woods, both of Knoxville; and a brother, Henry Edmons of Knoxville.

He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Murry of Heiskell, Christopher Coleman, Cody Maningold and Zoe Maningold, all of Florida, Miranda Coleman, Charles Coleman, Christopher Coleman and Cabel Coleman, all of Ooltewah, and Zackery Dove of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.

Mildred Edmons is the mother of his children.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 2, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Allen Giles officiating,

Burial will be at Wolf Valley Baptist Church cemetery in Heiskell. Pallbearers will be Doug Edmons, Ronnie Grisham, Ray Kenney, Moe David, Mike Bills and Jim Miller.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, April 1, at the funeral home.

Lonas Phillips
Lake City resident

Lonas Phillips, 69, of the Whittaker Hollow community of Lake City, died Monday, April 6, 1998, at his home of cancer.

Mr. Phillips is survived by three daughters, Marsha Lee Tilley and her husband, Jerry, Libby Huckaby and her husband, David, and Deloris McCoy and her husband, Ronnie, all of Lake City.

He is also survived by three sisters, Betty Stooksbury of Andersonville, Mary Moralas of Caryville and Eleanor Lindsay of Norris; and eight brothers, Dennis Phillips and Harry Phillips and his wife, Dorothy, all of Norris, Junior Phillips and his wife, Diane, Eli Phillips and his wife, Wilma, Calvin Phillips and his wife, Beatrice, Murdis Phillips and his wife, Loretta, and Johnny Phillips and his wife, Thelma, all of Lake City, and James Phillips and his wife, Sharon, of Gary, Ind.; and four grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, in the chapel of Cox-Martin Funeral Home in Lake City with the Rev. George Miller and the Rev. Eddie Bridges officiating.

Burial will follow at Circle cemetery in Briceville.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 tonight, April 7, at the funeral home.

Fred Jackson Moore
Member of Zion Baptist

Fred Jackson Moore, 90, of Lake City, died Tuesday, June 23, 1998, at his home.

He was born in Morgan County on Nov. 10, 1907.

Mr. Moore was a longtime employee of Magnet Mills in Clinton and later worked for Waste Management Inc.

He was a member of Zion Baptist Church of Clinton.

He is survived by his son, Willard Moore of Knoxville; three brothers, Lawrence Moore of Harriman and Francis Moore and Raymond Moore, both of Claxton; his sister, Elsie England of Claxton; three grandchildren, Susan Messer of Fayetteville, Ga., Julianna Moore of Kirksville, Mo., and Joey Moore of Powder Springs, Ga.; and a great-grandson, Matthew Messer of Fayetteville.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, 1998, at Zion cemetery in Clinton with the Rev. Justin Phillips officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight, June 25, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home.

Lillie Hatfield Marlow
Roane County centenarian

Lillie Hatfield Marlow, 106, of Harriman, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1998, at Roane Medical Center in Harriman.

Mrs. Marlow had lived in Petros for many years before moving to Harriman. She was the oldest member of Petros Baptist Church.

She was born in Scott County on April 1, 1892, the daughter of Joseph and Sally Byrd Hatfield.

She was the widow of Virgil Marlow.

Mrs. Marlow is survived by three nieces, Geneva Morton of Harriman, Reva Bishop of Wartburg and Maxine Johnson of Yuba City, Calif.; two nephews, Elmer Bonifacius Sr. of Oak Ridge and Douglas Watkins of Warrior, Ala.; three nieces-in-law, Thelma Davis of Wartburg and Jo Roberts and Betty Lemons, both of Harriman; and three nephews-in-law, Jim Basler of Indianapolis, Ind., and John Basler and Paul Basler, both of Williams, Ind.

The funeral was held Wednesday night, Aug. 12, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs. The Rev. Elmer Bonifacius Sr. and the Rev. Elmer Bonifacius Jr. officiated.

A graveside service will be held today, Aug. 13, at the New Petros cemetery.

Orn Hatmaker
Lake City resident

Orn Hatmaker, 84, of Lake City, died Monday, Aug. 17, 1998, at his home.

Mr. Hatmaker is survived by his wife, Aubrey Jones Hatmaker; two daughters, Annette Leinart and Sandra Cox and her husband, Jake, all of Lake City; three sisters, Juanita Rogers of Knoxville and Betty McFarland and Gladys Hatmaker, both of Lake City; and a brother, John Hatmaker of Clinton.

The funeral will be held at 8 tonight, Aug. 18, in the chapel of Cox-Martin Funeral Home in Lake City with the Rev. Jeff Calloway officiating. A Masonic service will also be held.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, at Campbell Memorial Gardens in LaFollette.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Floyd Hipshire Sr.
Retired ORNL employee

Floyd Hipshire Sr., 86, of Knoxville, died Monday, Jan. 5, 1998, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Knoxville.

Mr. Hipshire retired in 1978 from Union Carbide Nuclear Division. He had worked at Oak Ridge National Laboratory for 35 years.

He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Karns.

Mr. Hipshire is survived by a son, Floyd Hipshire Jr., and his wife, Joann; seven grandchildren, Mark Hipshire and his wife, Elaine, Kenneth Hipshire and his wife, Teresa, Traci Duncan and her husband, Rick, Elaine Hobson and her husband, Steve, Steve Jones and his wife, Mona, Bobby Jones and his wife, Rhonda, and Terri Woods and her husband, Mike; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by two sisters, Carrie Rickett and Alta Bowling; and by several nieces and nephews.

Vivian Gordon was considered a special friend.

His wife, Annie Kate Hipshire, and his daughter, Faye Hipshire Jones, both died earlier.

The funeral was held at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, at McCarty Weaver Cumberland Memorial Chapel, 5815 Western Ave., Knoxville. The Rev. Ronald Stewart officiated.

A graveside service was to be held this morning, Jan. 8, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. Mr. Hipshire's grandsons and his great-grandson Randy served as pallbearers.

The family requests any memorials be in the form of donations to Grace Baptist Church Building Fund, 7171 Oak Ridge Highway, Knoxville, TN 37931.

Mary Brummette Bradshaw
Victory Tabernacle member

Mary Loloetta Brummette Bradshaw, 65, of Clinton, died Monday, Feb. 16, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

Mrs. Bradshaw was a member of Victory Tabernacle Church in Andersonville.

She was born in Anderson County on Jan. 10, 1933, the daughter of Paul and Sarah Brummette.

Mrs. Bradshaw is survived by a daughter, Carolynn Purdy and her husband, Joseph, of Powell; a son, Gary Wayne Cook and his wife, Audrey, of Clinton; two sisters, Dallas Phillips and Gail Fortune, both of Clinton; two brothers, George Brummette and Carvel Brummette, both of Clinton; and by nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Garvan Walls officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at Sunset cemetery in Clinton.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Verna Ruth Ketner
Solway Baptist member

Verna Ruth Ketner of Oak Ridge died Friday, June 26, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

Mrs. Ketner was a member of Solway Baptist Church.

She was born in Greene County on Dec. 15, 1912, the daughter of Coy Andrew and Nora Belle McFarland Haun.

Mrs. Ketner moved to Oak Ridge from Morristown in 1944. A homemaker, she was the widow of Clarence Roscoe Ketner.

She is survived by a son, Clarence R. Ketner Jr. and his wife, Doris, of Claxton; five daughters, Jean Breazeale and Tonia Ketner, both of Oak Ridge, Geraldine Adams and Betty Bryant, both of Clinton, and Mary Smith and her husband, Paul, of Lake City; and by two sisters and a brother, Ina Barding, Mary Claborn and Dick Haun, all of Morristown.

Mrs. Ketner is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held at 8 p.m. Sunday, June 28, in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Ray Buchanan officiating.

A graveside service was to be held at 10 this morning, June 29, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

The family requests any memorials be in the form of donations to Emory Valley Center, 715 Emory Valley Road, Oak Ridge, TN 37830.

Albert 'Bert' Gossage
Lenoir City resident

Albert L. "Bert" Gossage, 63, of 510 Russell Lane, Lenoir City, died Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 23, 1997, at his home.

Mr. Gossage is survived by his wife, Shirley Strunk Gossage; a daughter, Regina Violet and her husband, Jim, of Lake City; a son, Rod Gossage and his wife, Debbie, of Lenoir City; two sisters, Lorene Vaughn of Graham, N.C., and Dot Campbell of Knoxville; and by two brothers, Wayne Gossage of St. Louis, Mo., and Ray Gossage of Graham, N.C.

The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, in the chapel of Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City with the Rev. Bruce Yates officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

The family requests any memorials be in the form of donations to Dixie Lee Baptist Church Building Fund, 14650 Old Stage Road, Lenoir City, TN 37772.

Marion Irene Harmon
Retired paralegal

Marion Irene Harmon, 78, of Knoxville, died Monday, Sept. 22, 1997, at East Tennessee Baptist Hospital in Knoxville.

A retired paralegal secretary, Mrs. Harmon worked for attorney Allen Steele in Long Beach, Calif.

Mrs. Harmon is survived by a son and his wife, Clifford and Hilda Harmon of Knoxville; two grandsons, Jeremy Harmon of Knoxville and Chad Walls of Oak Ridge; a granddaughter, Rachel Grenquist of El Cajon, Calif.; a sister, Pauline Beabler of Long Island, N.Y.; and a cousin, Jim Langridge of Connecticut.

The funeral will be at 8:30 tonight, Sept. 24, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Charles Clark officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at Anderson Memorial Gardens, Oliver Springs Highway.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Junior Powell Russell
Retired Coalfield resident

Junior Powell Russell, 78, of Coalfield, died Monday, Sept. 22, 1997, at his home.

Mr. Russell was retired from the lumber business.

He was born Sept. 14, 1919, in Coalfield, the son of John William and Ollie Jarnigan Russell. He was a lifetime resident of Coalfield and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Mr. Russell is survived by his wife, Willie Mae Russell; a daughter, Cathy Miller and her husband, Jimmy, of Harriman; two sons, Johnny Russell and Wayne Russell and his wife, Peggy, all of Coalfield; and 10 grandchildren, Natasha Russell, Johnathan Russell, Joshua Russell, Tracie Russell, James Russell, Rachael Russell, Vallie Miller, Nick Miller, Ken Collins and Chris Collins.

He is also survived by six sisters, Arvanna Helton and her husband, Bobby, and Elizabeth Baker and her husband, Joe, all of Coalfield, Betsy McGhee and her husband, Eugene, and Becky Heydel and her husband, Bones, all of Oliver Springs, and Lois Foster and Stevelane Russell, both of Oak Ridge; and by two brothers, Linis Russell and his wife, Pete, of Coalfield, and R.B. Russell and his wife, Emma Jean, of Oliver Springs.

Two other brothers, Kenneth Russell and Willis Russell, died earlier, as did his parents.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Tom Fritts and the Rev. Billy Edmonds officiating.

Burial will follow at Estes cemetery in Coalfield.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at the funeral home.
