Karen Sue Housley Bailey, 38, of Clinton, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 1997, at her home of cancer.
Mrs. Bailey was a member of Norris Baptist Church.
She was born in Clinton on Sept. 22, 1958, the daughter of Carl and Joyce Pointer Housley. Her mother lives in Norris and her father is deceased.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, David R. Bailey; one son, Chris Bailey of Clinton; two sisters, Tena Rollins of Texas and Debra Wallace of Sevierville; two brothers, Carl Edward Housley of Los Angeles, Calif., and Jimmy Housley of Norris; her grandmother, Cora Pointer of Indiana; and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Pless and Faustine Bailey of Clinton.
The funeral will be held at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. David Seiber officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22, at Anderson Memorial Gardens, Oliver Springs Highway, Clinton.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Helen Patterson

Helen Wilson Patterson, 48, of Bush Road, Clinton, died Wednesday morning, Sept. 17, 1997, at her home.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Patterson; a daughter, Kelly Patterson Green; two sons, Joseph Patterson and Michael Patterson; four sisters, Debbie Wilson, Wanda Bailes, Vikki Rogers and Robin McCoy; and by three brothers, Charles Wilson, Tom Wilson and Lester Wilson.
The funeral will be held at 8 tonight, Sept. 19, in the chapel of Anderson County Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Joe Bridges officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at Patterson cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Lassie Turner Sexton
Former Oak Ridge resident
Lassie Faye Turner Sexton, 83, of North Knoxville, died at 5:20 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16, 1997, at NHC HealthCare of Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Sexton was a former resident of Oak Ridge and taught ceramics for many years.
Her husband of 65 years, James R. Sexton, is a retired Oak Ridge police officer.
She was a member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church in Knoxville.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Sexton is survived by two sons, Jim L. Sexton and his wife, Phyllis, of Chattanooga, and Bob G. Sexton of Knoxville; a sister, Pauline Lunsford of Knoxville; and a brother, Carson Turner of Monroe, Ga.
She is also survived by four grandchildren, Sharon Mungan of Knoxville, James Robert Sexton of Newport, Angie Luebben of Louisville, Ky., and Jayne Trapnel of Chattanooga; and six great-grandchildren, Andrew Mungan, Jennifer Sexton, Gabe Sexton, Sam Trapnel, and Brian and Joseph Luebben.
Family and friends will meet at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at Stevens Mortuary, Knoxville, for a 1 p.m. graveside service at Greenwood cemetery. The Rev. Glenn Sullivan will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, Oct. 17, at the mortuary, Oglewood Avenue at Broadway, Knoxville.
Robert Clarence Barnett
Retired K-25 Site operator
Robert Clarence Barnett, 72, of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 1997, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center at Knoxville.
Mr. Barnett was a retired chemical operator. He began his employment at the Oak Ridge Gaseous Diffusion Plant, later named K-25 Site, Union Carbide Nuclear Division. He retired in 1984 from Martin Marietta Energy Systems.
He was born Sept. 11, 1925, in Newberry, S.C., the son of Fred Clarence Barnett and Sarah Ruby Cohan. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served during World War II. He was a Baptist.
Mr. Barnett enjoyed astronomy and reading, gardening and yard work, and sightseeing in the mountains, the family said. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and participated in many civic activities. He especially enjoyed buying Shrine circus tickets and giving them to children, the family said.
He is survived by his close friend, Naomi Widener of LaFollette; three daughters, DeAnna Pledger of Coalfield, Patricia Johnson of Mobile, Ala., and Bobbie Barnett of Houston, Texas; a son, John C. Barnett of Oak Ridge; two sisters, Inez Stevens of Sevierville and Patsy Shelton of LaFollette; and by eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
His wife, Genell Lindsay Barnett, a sister, Kathleen Goad and three brothers, Wallace Barnett, Carson Barnett and Joe Brown Barnett, died earlier.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, at Woolridge Community Church in Campbell County with the Rev. Bill Stevens Jr., officiating. Burial will follow at Woolridge cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, at McCarty-Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home.
Tommy Lowe Jr.

Tommy Lowe Jr., 35, of Kodak, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 1997, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Knoxville.
Mr. Lowe is survived by his wife, Mary Lue Lowe; a daughter and two sons, Alishia Marie Lowe, Tommy Lowe III an James Clarence Hayes Lowe, all of Kodak; his mother, Earlene B. Lowe of Knoxville; three sisters, Gayle Mayfield, and her husband, LeLand, of Andersonville, Patsy Grodeman, and her husband, Kenny, and Peggy Price, all of Knoxville; a brother, Jimmy Lowe of Knoxville; and his step-grandmother, Euniece Hayes of Quincy, Mich.
The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, in the chapel of Mynatt Funeral Home, 2928 Rennoc Road, Knoxville. The Rev. Larry G. Woods will officiate.
Family and friends will meet at 1:45 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, at Anderson Memorial Gardens, Oliver Springs Highway, Clinton, for a graveside service at 2 p.m.

Grace Wilson Scruggs
Retired secretary
Grace Wilson Scruggs, 91, of Eagle Bend Road, Clinton, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997, at her home.
Mrs. Scruggs was retired. She had worked 44 years as a secretary for Bush Brothers Cannery in Clinton.
She was born in Anderson County and was the daughter of Frank and Dora Pyatt Wilson.
Mrs. Scruggs was a charter member of the Wednesday Club and the Timely Topics club, and a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, all in Clinton.
She is survived by two daughters, Gracie Allen and her husband, Charles, of Nashville, and Jimmie Wright and her husband, Gene, of Caryville; and five grandchildren, Jenny Cunningham and her husband, Jack, David Allen and Thomas Allen, all of Nashville, Julie Minton and her husband, Steve, of Knoxville and Jody Wright and his wife, Kim, of Clinton.
Mrs. Scruggs is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Grace Ann Cunningham and Molly Cunningham, both of Nashville, Michael Minton of Knoxville and Lauren Wright and Mollie Wright, both of Clinton; and by several cousins.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Warren Wattenbarger officiating. Burial will be at Sunset cemetery in Clinton.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight, Nov. 6, at the funeral home.
Helen F. Gleason
Mother of Oak Ridger
Helen F. Gleason, 91, of Lincoln, Ill., died at 4 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 27, at her home.
She was the mother of Sara Feller of Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Gleason was a housewife and a member of Holy Family Church of Lincoln.
She was born in Springfield, Ill., on March 21, 1906, the daughter of William and Alice Taylor Geiser. She was the widow of Emmett Gleason, who died on April 27, 1967. The Gleasons were married
in Springfield, Ill., on Sept. 20, 1938.
In addition to her daughter, Mrs. Gleason is survived by her son, Patrick Gleason of Auburn, Ill., and a sister, Mary B. Geiser of Alexandria, Va.
She is also survived by five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at Holy Family Church in Lincoln. The Rev. Daniel Wilder will officiate.
Burial will follow at Holy Cross cemetery in Lincoln.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, at Kerrigan Funeral Home in Lincoln. There will be a recitation of the Rosary at 4 p.m. Sunday.
The family requests that any memorials be in the form of contributions to an organization of the donor's choice.
Thelma Valentine Hutchins
Health care volunteer
Thelma Valentine Davis Hutchins, 87, of Oak Ridge, died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 1997, at her home.
Mrs. Hutchins worked as a nurse's aide at a hospital in Decatur, Ind., from 1955 to 1965, when she moved to Oak Ridge. Here, she did volunteer work at Westmall and the Oak Ridge Health Care Center.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was involved in the church's visitation program to members who are shut-ins. She was also active with the Stephen Ministry at the church. She was considered a "people person," her family said.
Mrs. Hutchins was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, No. 390 in Oak Ridge, and in 1974 held the office of worthy matron.
She was born in Van Wert County, Ohio, on Feb. 14, 1910, the daughter of Franklin and Nancy Foley Davis.
Her first husband, Joseph Henry Pence, died on Feb. 14, 1961, and her second husband, Andrew Hutchins, died on July 29, 1981.
Mrs. Hutchins is survived by two daughters, Joan Nicholson and her husband, John, of Oak Ridge, and Janet R. Davis and her husband, Larry, of Wren, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Nancy Morgan and her husband, Robert, of St. Louis, Mo.; a stepson, Charles Hutchins Jr. and his wife, Carolyn, of Fairfax, Va.; and two sisters, Mae Lee of Adrian, Mich., and Marguerite Culliton of Saline, Mich.
She is also survived by six grandchildren, Jeffry Davis of Drain, Ore., Jack Davis, James Davis and Laura Davis, all of Wren, and Patricia Miller and Stephen Nicholson, both of Oak Ridge; four step-grandchildren, Jon Morgan of Massachusetts, Thomas Morgan of St. Louis and Brad Hutchins and Brian Hutchins of Fairfax; and by 13 great-grandchildren.
Betty Hubbard of Oak Ridge was considered a special friend.
The funeral will be held at 8:30 tonight, Nov. 28, in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary with the Rev. Ken Henderlight officiating.
Burial will be in Convoy, Ohio, at the IOOF cemetery.

Johnny Carl Murray, 65, of Deer Lodge, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 1997.
The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, in the chapel of McCarty-Martin Funeral Home in Oak Ridge. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, at New Home Baptist Church cemetery in Andersonville.
Phyllis Jean Neu

Phyllis Jean Neu, 64, of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 1997, at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
She was born July 19, 1933, in Portsmouth, Ohio, the daughter of Howard and Verla Elizabeth Reynolds Saunders.
Mrs. Neu worked as a sales clerk at various drug stores, the last one Jefferson Drug Store. She retired in the early 1990s.
She enjoyed camping, crocheting and needlework, family members said. She was a member of the West Village Christian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Carl Neu Jr.; her mother, Verla Elizabeth Saunders, of Oak Ridge; one daughter Diana L. Stines and her husband, William, of Oliver Springs; two sons, Jeffrey Carl Neu and Richard Howard Neu, both Oak Ridge; one sister, Nina Jo Ray and husband, Sam, of Lucasville, Ohio; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Scott Keathley and James C. Keathley, both of Oliver Springs, Ricky Neu, Ray Neu and Robin Neu, all of Kingston; and one great-granchild, Kimberly Keathley.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, Nov. 28.
