Maggie J. Mitchell

Maggie J. Mitchell, 86, of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 1998, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Donnie Jones of Coalfield. She had also lived at the home of another daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and W.R. Jackson of Coalfield.
Mrs. Mitchell had been a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church of Oliver Springs for 45 years. In her active years, she was a member of the choir, a Sunday school teacher and a soul winner, her family said. She was a homemaker and enjoyed working with flowers and in her garden.
She was the widow of W.B. Mitchell, and the daughter of Benjamin Allen and Bertha Fore Barton, both now deceased.
In addition to her two daughters and their husbands, Mrs. Mitchell is survived by another daughter, Mary Shoffner of Heiskell; four sons, Paul Mitchell of North Carolina, Joe Mitchell and his wife, Kathy, of Michigan, Ted Mitchell and his wife, Sharon, of Lenoir City, and Lee Mitchell and his wife, Judy, of Chattanooga; and a sister, Mildred Terrell of Kentucky.
She is also survived by an aunt, Rachel Carter of Kentucky; a son-in-law, Fred Rickett of Indiana; a daughter-in-law, Joy Mitchell of Joyner; and by 40 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Sonny and Maxine Harvey of Oliver Springs and the Rev. Milfred and Mabel Ely of Chattanooga were considered special friends.
Two daughters, Lena M. Rickett and Marjorie M. Hackworth, a son, William Jerome Mitchell, a son-in-law, Albert Shoffner, and a daughter-in-law, Patricia Mitchell, all died earlier.
The funeral will be held at 8 tonight, Jan. 5, at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Garvan Walls, the Rev. Keith Price, the Rev. Carl Elliott Jr. and the Rev. Steve Hensley officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Mount Pisgah Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 tonight at the church.

Alonzo Fritts
Retired coal miner
Alonzo Fritts, 85, of Oliver Springs, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 1997, at Roane Medical Center of Harriman.
Mr. Fritts had lived in Oliver Springs since 1943. He worked for 35 years as a coal miner, last at Windrock Coal Co. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America.
He was born in Lake City on Aug. 2, 1912, the son of Thomas and Nerva Jane Cross Fritts, both deceased. He was a member of Dutch Valley Baptist Church.
Mr. Fritts is survived by his wife, Eula Mae Fritts; three daughters, Bessie Fritts of Harlan, Ky., Maxine Czarnecki and her husband, John, of Cicero, Ill., and Faye Choate and her husband, Dan, of Lake City; and seven sons, Herbert Fritts and his wife, Shirley, Ernest Fritts and his wife, June, and Oscar Fritts and his wife, Wanda L., all of Oliver Springs, James Fritts and his wife, Patricia, of Greenback, Jimmy Lee Fritts and his wife, Ann, and Samuel Ray Fritts and his wife, Rhonda K., all of Stockbridge, Ga., and Chris Fritts and his wife, Lorri, of Snellville, Ga.
He is also survived by a sister, Alberta Welch of Lenoir City; and 33 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Frankie Fritts, a sister, Evaleen Osborne, and a brother, Leon Fritts, all died earlier.
The funeral will be held at 8 tonight, Oct. 23, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Bill Tuttle, the Rev. Gary S. Seiber and the Rev. Harold Duncan officiating.
A graveside service and burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at Anderson Memorial Gardens, Oliver Springs Highway, Clinton.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Clarence C. Parson
Retired Y-12 Plant employee
Clarence C. Parson, 89, of Oak Ridge, died at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, 1997, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mr. Parson was retired as a maintenance foreman in the Maintenance Division of the Oak Ridge Y-12 Plant. He began his employment with Union Carbide Nuclear Division on Oct. 23, 1944, and retired on Jan. 31, 1968.
Born in Nashville on Dec. 15, 1907, he was the son of Alfred Spencer and Ada Mae Green Parson. He had been a resident of Oak Ridge since 1942 and moved his family here in 1945.
Mr. Parson was a member of Highland View Church of Christ. According to his family, he was an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing. He and his wife also enjoyed going to Florida and would spend each winter there.
His wife, Flois R. Parson, died on April 13, 1997.
He is survived by three daughters, Angela P. Hart, Bettye P. Hawkins and her husband, J.V., and Priscilla P. Lingle and her husband, Nelson, all of Oak Ridge; three sons, Bobby D. Parson and his wife, Sandy, of Oak Ridge, Billy S. Parson and his wife, Dorothy, of Houston, Texas, and James A. Parson and his wife, Christine, of Mobile, Ala.; a sister, Helen Bennett of Mount Pleasant; a brother, Spencer Parson, and his wife of Ashton, Va.; and by 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Central Standard Time on Saturday, Nov. 15, at Arlington cemetery in Mount Pleasant.

James Clyde Yarber
Retired Y-12 operator
James Clyde Yarber, 91, of Clinton, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 1997, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville.
Mr. Yarber was retired from Union Carbide Nuclear Division. He had worked for approximately 25 years as a utility operator at the Oak Ridge Y-12 Plant.
He had also served for many years as assistant manager of the Anderson County Fair Association.
Mr. Yarber was born in Campbell County on May 22, 1906, the son of James and Mattie Yarber. He attended Sinking Springs United Methodist Church of Clinton.
His first wife, Dot Yarber, and a son, James Yarber, are deceased.
Mr. Yarber is survived by his wife, Mildred Yarber; two daughters, Betty Hensley of Clinton and Lorene Dew and her husband, Clyde, of Norris; and three sons, Charles Yarber and his wife, Marie, of Knoxville, Bobby Joe Yarber and his wife, Kathy, of Oak Ridge, and Jack Yarber and his wife, Patsy, of Ten Mile.
He is also survived by four stepdaughters, Marie Collins of Caryville, Gail Barnard of Lenoir City, and Phyllis Segroves and Patsy Headrick, both of Knoxville; five stepsons, Howard Ford of Dixon and Jimmy Ford, Thurman Ford, Everett Ford and Robert Ford, all of Knoxville; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and by several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 8:30 tonight, Nov. 21, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Katherine Nance officiating.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at Sinking Springs cemetery in Clinton.

Ruth Wallace of Solway died at 5:20 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 1997, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

Georgia L. Allen
Retired from Y-12 Plant
Georgia Allen, 75, of Clinton, died at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 1997, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Allen retired from the Y-12 Plant after 38 years of service. She was a senior analyst, employed by Union Carbide Nuclear Division.
She was born in Rogersville on Jan. 23, 1922. She was a member of Oak Ridge Church of Christ.
She was the widow of Roy F. Allen.
Mrs. Allen is survived by a son, Wade Allen, and his wife, Robin, of Clinton; two grandchildren, Roy Allen and Candice Allen, both of Clinton; and by several sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, in the chapel of McCarty-Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, at Anderson Memorial Gardens, Oliver Springs Highway, Clinton.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Fred Arnold McClure
Retired marine mechanic
Fred Arnold McClure, 86, of Andersonville, died Friday, Oct. 31, 1997, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Knoxville.
A resident of Andersonville for the past 37 years, Mr. McClure worked as a marine mechanic for 12 years at the Andersonville Boat Dock before he retired.
Born Jan. 22, 1911, in Sevier County, he was the son of George and Hettie C. McClure. He was a member of Valley View Baptist Church in Sevier County.
He and his wife, Maggie McClure McClure, by whom he is survived, were married
Feb. 18, 1946, and lived in Wears Valley, Sevier County, until 1960, when they moved to Andersonville.
In addition to his wife, Mr. McClure is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Mandy and Charles Parrott of Powell and Diane and Dwayne Lee of Wartburg; and four sons and three daughters-in-law, Roger and Cindy McClure, Claude "Shorty" and Diana McClure, Jim and Angie McClure, all of Andersonville, and George McClure and his fiancée, Marly Elliott, both of Knoxville.
He is also survived by a sister, Jessie Trotter of Maryville; and by 12 grandchildren, two great-grandsons, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held Saturday, Nov. 1, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Burial was Sunday, Nov. 2, at King cemetery in Andersonville.
Frances M. Bratcher

Frances M. Bratcher, 56, of Solway, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 1997, at Fort Sanders Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.
Mrs. Bratcher was a homemaker and a member of Solway Baptist Church.
She was born in Morgan County on Nov. 20, 1940, the daughter of Ima McCormick and Earl Sanford Liles.
She was the widow of Andy J. Bratcher.
Mrs. Bratcher is survived by three daughters, Rhonda Justice of Oliver Springs, Teresa Liles and her husband, Richard, of Clinton, and Marsha Lundy and her husband, David, of Green Bay, Wis.; a son, Rocky Steelman of Solway; a sister, Darlene Scotton of Washington, D.C.; a brother, John Hawn of Solway; and by seven grandchildren.
A son, Tony Steelman, and a brother, Samuel Hawn Jr., are deceased.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. Herman Woods officiating.
Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens, Oliver Springs Highway, Clinton.

Hazel M. Bolden

Hazel M. Lively Bolden, 79, of Oliver Springs, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 1997, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Bolden was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Oliver Springs.
Born in Anderson County on May 17, 1918, she was the daughter of Odell and Mollie Braden Lively.
She was the widow of E. Martin Bolden.
Mrs. Bolden is survived by a son, Ray Bolden and his wife, Brenda, of Oliver Springs; two grandchildren, Kevin Bolden of Oliver Springs and Carmen Suter and her husband, Tim, of Clinton; and one great-grandchild, Emilee Suter of Clinton.
She is also survived by seven sisters, Mary Cox of Kingston and Edna Lynn, Patricia Thomas, Joyce Patterson, Mamie Vickery and her husband, Earl, Pearl West and her husband, Harold, and Lola Huskey and her husband, Ralph, all of Oliver Springs; and two brothers, Carl Lively and his wife, Bernice, and Roy Lively and his wife, Evelyn, also all of Oliver Springs.
Dennis and Norma Cooper and Clifford and Beatrice Duncan, all of Oliver Springs, were considered special friends.
A sister, Anna Lively, and a brother, Wayne Lively, are deceased.
