Sandra Weston Rahn
Former Oak Ridge resident

Sandra "Sandy" Weston Rahn of Bethesda, Md., died Tuesday, March 10, 1998, in Bethesda after a lengthy illness with metastatic breast cancer.

She had been a Realtor in the Washington, D.C., area for the past 15 years.

The Rahn family lived in Oak Ridge from the early 1960s until 1983. Mrs. Rahn enjoyed playing tennis in the Oak Ridge city tennis club and participated in many civic and social events with friends in Oak Ridge and Knoxville.

She is survived by two daughters, who both attended Oak Ridge schools, Karyn Weston Rahn of Durham, N.C., and Victoria Elizabeth Lacey Rahn of Bethesda; her mother, Carolyn Welton of St. Petersburg, Fla.; her father, Kermit Welton of DeLand, Fla.; a sister, Betsey Welton of Sandwich, Mass.; a brother, Robert Welton of Knoxville; and four nieces, Stacey and Lesley Silva and Jennifer and Jessica Finch.

Ronald O. Rahn of Birmingham, Ala., was her former husband.

Her grandparents, Harold and Ruth Weston, died earlier.

Pumphrey's Bethesda-Chevy Chase Funeral Home in Bethesda handled arrangements.

The family requests any memorials be in the form of donations to the Sandra Weston Rahn Memorial Scholarship Fund, in care of Duke University School of Medicine, Gift Records, P.O. Box 90581, Durham, NC 27710.

Mary Frances Behymer
Former bridge player

Mary Frances Behymer, 93, of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, at her home.

Mrs. Behymer was formerly active at the Oak Ridge Country Club where she was a member of the bridge club. She was a homemaker.

She was born in Nelsonville, Ohio, on June 4, 1904, the daughter of Harry Bailey Summers and Mary Ann Clendenin Summers.

Mrs. Behymer is survived by a daughter, Marion Ross vonBeck of Knoxville; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Ross Comas and his wife, Laura Anne Comas, of Knoxville, and Jordi Ross Comas and his wife, Virginia Zimmerman, of Charlottesville, Va.; and by two great-grandchildren, Jody Comas and Cole Comas, both of Knoxville.

Her husband, Ross C. Behymer, died Jan. 1, 1978.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church, 2931 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, with the Rev. Lynn Strauss officiating.

Weatherford Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Rachael G. Pickering
Sister of Oak Ridge resident

Rachael Glann "Muff" Pickering, 77, of Honolulu, Hawaii, died Monday, Jan. 12, 1998, in Honolulu after a long decline in health.

Mrs. Pickering was the sister of Connie Battle of 113 Mohawk Road.

She was born in New London, Conn., on May 9, 1920, the daughter of Lt. Cmdr. Archie Edward Glann and Rachael Blythe Needham, both now deceased. She attended the women's division of the College of William and Mary in Richmond, Va.

Mrs. Pickering was an avid tennis player and taught modeling, and she herself modeled for Models of Hawaii. She also sold Avon products in later years and became the top salesperson in Hawaii for three consecutive years. She loved reading and watching videos of old and new movies, her family said.

In addition to her sister, she is survived by four children, L.D. "Peter" Pickering III, Edward Needham Pickering and his wife, Kathy, and son, Beau, and Rachael Pickering Bunner and her husband, Michael, and their children, Laura and Bryan, all of Honolulu, and Daniel Nelson Pickering and his wife, Debbie, of Cortland, N.Y.

Mrs. Pickering is also survived by another granddaughter and two great-grandchildren in Honolulu; a nephew, Buck Battle of Salt Lake City, Utah; and nieces Anne Haddock of Escondido, Calif., and Betsy Lybrand of Columbia, S.C.

A memorial service will be held early next week in Kahala Chapel in Honolulu. Mrs. Pickering's ashes will be placed next to those of her mother at the Church of the Holy Nativity.

The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to a charity of the donor's choice.

Lloyd Lee Hall
Retired ORNL technician

Lloyd Lee Hall, 79, of Clinton, died Monday, Jan. 12, 1998, at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital in Morristown.

Mr. Hall began employment Feb. 11, 1952, with Union Carbide Nuclear Division. He was a science technologist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He retired June 1, 1982, from the Metals and Ceramics Division at ORNL.

He was born in Forest City, N.C., on Jan. 29, 1918, the son of John and Anna Hall.

Mr. Hall was elected an alderman to the Clinton City Council and also served many years on the board of the Powell-Clinch Utility District.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Clinton where he served as a teacher and deacon.

Mr. Hall is survived by a son, Sidney Hall and his wife, Margaret, of Morristown; a granddaughter and grandson, Rebecca Grace Hall and Robert Andrew Hall, both of Knoxville; four sisters, Louise Morrell of Phoenix, Ariz., Reba Bowers of St. Charles, Mo., Joyce Bogart of Rockledge, Fla., and Oveda Pearson of Oak Ridge; and a brother, the Rev. Walter Hall of Suffolk, Va.

His wife, Velna Dorsett Hall, and two sisters, Anna Mae Forbis and Bernice Brady, died earlier.

The funeral was scheduled for 3 today, Jan. 14, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. Samuel Dean officiating. Burial was to follow at McCarty Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton.

The family planned to receive friends from 2 to 3 today at the funeral home.

Lawrence Agbert Howard
Retired ORNL operator

Lawrence Agbert Howard, 76, of Oliver Springs, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at his home.

Mr. Howard had retired from Martin Marietta Energy Systems after 30 years as a chemical operator at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

He was the son of Granville and Josie Webb Howard, both now deceased. He spent eight years in the U.S. Navy and served during World War II.

Mr. Howard was a member of East Fork Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and other sports. He was a Baptist.

He is survived by his wife, Dixie Wilson Howard; a daughter, Melissa Ray and her husband, Mike, of Clinton; two sons, Dickey Howard and his wife, Brenda, of Rockwood, and Steve Howard and his wife, Devera, of Lenoir City; two sisters, Evelyn Mayes of Crossville and Isoline McFalls of Lexington, Ky.; and a brother, Noah Howard of Harriman.

Three sisters, Effie Human, Rena Hickman and Helen McCoy, and five brothers, Marley Howard, Odum Howard, Guy Howard, Herbert Howard and J.C. Howard, died earlier.

The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, in the chapel of Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg with the Rev. Roy Langley officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, at Anderson Memorial Gardens, Oliver Springs Highway, Clinton. Full military rites will be conducted.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be held at 8.

Dorothy Rowan Brient
Kern Methodist member

Dorothy Rowan Brient, 78, of Oak Ridge, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 1997, at her home.

Mrs. Brient was a member of Kern Memorial United Methodist Church.

She was the widow of Charles N. Brient.

Mrs. Brient is survived by a daughter, Jean Prince, and her husband, David, of Oak Ridge; two grandchildren, Bradley Prince and his wife, Doris, of Georgetown, S.C., and Regina Harrington and her husband, Steve, of Conway, S.C.; two great-grandchildren, R.D. Prince and Kasey Harrington; a sister, Margaret R. Anderson of Oak Ridge; a brother, Sam P. Rowan of Maryville; and by several nieces and nephews.

Her parents, James E. and Nora Badgett Rowan, and a sister and three brothers, Ailene McReynolds, J. Victor Rowan, Ralph Rowan and Ray Rowan, all died earlier.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park with the Rev. Ron Ingram and the Rev. E.C. Vestal officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 tonight, Oct. 10, at McCammon-Ammons Funeral Home in Maryville.

The family requests any memorials be in the form of donations to the Stephen Ministry at Kern Memorial United Methodist Church, 451 E. Tennessee Ave., Oak Ridge, TN. 37830.

Coy Bullock
Retired Diamond Box machinist

Coy Bullock, 90, of Oak Ridge, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998, at his home.

Born in Mount Vernon, Ky., on Dec. 26, 1907, he was the son of Green and Bea Bullock. He had been a resident of Oak Ridge since 1994.

Mr. Bullock was a member of Lockland Christian Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. and was retired as a machinist with Diamond Box Co.

He is survived by two sons, the Rev. Donald M. Bullock and his wife, J. Willene Bullock, of Oak Ridge, and Denver S. Bullock and his wife, Kitty Bullock, of Cincinnati; a daughter, Joyce Anderson and her husband, Jim Anderson, of Crossville; two sisters, Freda Bullock of Cincinnati and Matilda Cromer of Fortville; two half-brothers, Ray Bullock of Somerset, Ky., and Melvin Bullock and his wife, Mary Ann Bullock, of Cincinnati; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

His wife, Leta Pearl Bullock, died on Sept. 21, 1994, and a granddaughter, Terri Anderson, also died earlier.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, at Schmidt-Dhonau Funeral Home in Reading, Ohio. The Rev. Jim Coddington will officiate.

Burial will be at Arlington Memorial Gardens in Mount Healthy, Ohio.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, Aug. 7, at Weatherford Mortuary of Oak Ridge. They will also receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, at Schmidt-Dhonau Funeral Home.

The family requests that any memorials be in the form of contributions to West Village Christian Church, 637 Robertsville Road, Oak Ridge TN 37830.

William L. 'Bill' Thomas
Lake City resident

William L. "Bill" Thomas, 74, of Lake City, died Monday, June 22, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Easterly Thomas; his daughter, Karen Lynn Johnson and her husband, Thomas, of Lake City; his son, David William Thomas and his wife, Linda, of Lockhart, Texas; and three grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 8 tonight, June 24, in the chapel of Cox-Martin Funeral Home in Lake City with the Rev. Sam Johnson officiating.

A graveside service including military rites with full honors will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 25, at Oak Grove cemetery in Lake City.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Elaine Griffin McCollum
Knoxville resident

Elaine Hilda Griffin McCollum, 43, of Knoxville, died Friday, Oct. 3, 1997, at her home.

Mrs. McCollum is survived by a daughter, Angelique C. Dejournett of Titusville, Fla.; a son, Ronald McKenzie Griffin Gardner of Oak Ridge; her parents, Johnnie and Ernest Griffin of Titusville; and three sisters, Terry Humphrey of Oak Ridge, Kim Rice of Salt Lick, Ky., and Robin Griffin of Houston, Texas.

A private memorial service will be held in Titusville.

Michael G. Barboza
OSHS graduate

Michael G. Barboza, 29, of Seminole, Fla., died Friday, Nov. 14, 1997, at Bay Front Medical Center in St. Petersburg, Fla., of a ruptured aneurysm.

Mr. Barboza was a graduate of Oliver Springs High School. He attended Carson-Newman College and was a member of its championship football team.

Mr. Barboza was an active skin diver and body builder. He was employed in Seminole as an assistant manager for Publix Grocery.

Mr. Barboza is survived by his wife, Lana Ward Barboza; his mother, Louella Barboza of Maryville; his father, Gene A. Barboza of Powell; his stepmother, Beverly Barboza of Powell; two sisters, Sandra Lee Barboza of Maryville and Donna Marie Long of Knoxville; and his grandfather, Harry Henson of Marvel.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at Anderson Memorial Gardens, Oliver Springs Highway, Clinton.

Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of arrangements.

Robert Edwin Kerby
Resident of Louisiana Ave.

Robert Edwin Kerby, 70, 188 Louisiana Ave., died Wednesday night, Oct. 14, 1998, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Kerby, his son, Bobby Kerby and his wife Nancy, of Oliver Springs; and his daughter, Colleen Robison and her husband Donald, of Dandridge.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

The body will be on view between 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at McCarty-Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home.
