Jodie Campbell, 95, of Mt. Juliet, died Thursday (June 23, 2011) at his residence. Mr. Campbell was a native of Lincoln County, the son of the late Lonzo Edgar and Fannie May Tucker Campbell. He was an equipment operator. Survivors include his wife, Christine Campbell of Mt. Juliet; sons, James Leonard Campbell of Pegram and Ricky Joe Campbell of Mt. Juliet; grandchildren, Michelle Christley, Cynthia Campbell, Chrystal Campbell, Brad Campbell; six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon in the chapel of the Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with Bro. Leon Edwards officiating. Burial followed in Mulberry cemetery. Kenneth "Big" Carter, 26, of Huntland died Saturday (June 25, 2011). He was born Friday, Aug. 31, 1984 in Fayetteville. He was a 2003 graduate of Huntland High School. Mr. Carter was employed by Thompson Appalachian Hardwoods, Inc., in Huntland. He last attended the Huntland Church of God. He loved the outdoors. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, horseback riding and 4-wheeling. Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Ed Carter. He is survived by his mother, Patricia Carter of Hazel Green, Ala.; father, Kenneth Carter of Fayetteville; daughter, Harley, and son, Noah, of Russellville, Ky.; sisters, April (Tim) Purinton and Melissa (Danny) Stewart; brother, Shawn Carter, all of Huntland; maternal grandparents, James and Kathy Meeks of Belvidere; paternal grandmother, Rachel Dunnavant of Fayetteville; nieces, Breanna Medley, Katie Stewart; nephews, Kaleb Medley, Joshua Purinton, all of Huntland; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation for Mr. Carter will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Grant Funeral Services, 103 Peters Road, Estill Springs. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Bro. Charles Curtis Colbert, 83, of Fayetteville, died Saturday (June 25, 2011) at Lincoln Medical Center. He was a native of Lincoln County, son of the late Solomon and Naomi Towry Colbert, a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving in Korea and a former employee of Mobil Oil Company. Survivors include two daughters, Vickie Lynn Weir and husband, Randy, and Tracey Lee Kendall and husband, John, all of Fayetteville; two sons, Stanley Allen Colbert of Fayetteville and Dwight Curtis Colbert and wife, Peggy, of Highland City, Fla.; sister, Annie Henderson of Highland City; brother, Rabon Colbert of Ardmore; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Langford officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove cemetery. Billie Joplin Brown Crabtree, 80, of Petersburg, died Sunday (June 26, 2011) at the Fayetteville Care & Rehab Center. Mrs. Crabtree was a native of Lincoln County, the daughter of the late James Clarence and Mazie Lee Greer Brown. She was a nurse and of the Baptist faith. She is survived by her husband, James Crabtree of Petersburg; daughters, Marcia and Jerry Marion of Estill Springs, Kathy and Roy Wiser of Lewisburg; son, James Douglas and Linda Manire Crabtree of Shelbyville; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home. Mary Sue Sharpe Dupree, 67, of New Market, Ala., died Tuesday (June 21, 2011). Funeral services were conducted Friday morning at Hazel Green Funeral Home with Tommy Rosenblum officiating. Burial followed in Concord cemetery. Hazel Green Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

James E. "Greasy" Henderson, 76, of Winchester, died Friday (June 24, 2011) at his home. He was born Thursday, Sept. 27, 1934, in Cowan, the son of the late Jesse R. and Maude Leslie (Tucker) Henderson. He served in the Army. He was a Veteran of Korea. Mr. Henderson was the regional supervisor for Avco Finance Company for 25 years and after retirement spent time working with Lynch and Lynch Realty, Dominion Bank and Golden Heights Senior Citizens Center. He was very active in civic organizations, was a past-member of the Kiwanis Club and served as past president of the Franklin County Country Club. Mr. Henderson was also a member of the Elk River Beekeeper Club of Franklin County. In addition to his parents, Mr. Henderson was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Hulin Henderson. Survivors are his wife, Estelle (Newcomb) Henderson; son, Blaine (Rhonda) Henderson Leuligg of Arizona; he raised as daughter, Mica (David) Tobitt of Winchester; sisters, Shirley Henderson Luttrell of Winchester and Edith Henderson Russell of Winchester; as well as five grandchildren. A funeral service was held Monday afternoon at Moore-Cortner Chapel with the Bro. Byron Lawrence officiating. Interment icon was in Franklin Memorial Gardens, Winchester. Clarence Holman, age 77, of Elora, died Saturday (June 25, 2011) at his residence. Mr. Holman was a native of Madison County, Ala., the son of the late Chaney Franklin and Bertha Lucinda Mills Holman. He was a carpenter and a member of the Plevna Holiness Church. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jeff Holman, and brother, Leonard Holman. Henry Edward Jones, 70, of Hazel Green, Ala., died Tuesday (June 21, 2011) in Huntsville Hospital. He was a native of Madison County, Ala., the son of the late Eugene Allen and Agnes Cothren Jones. Mr. Jones was an auto mechanic at Jones Garage and a member of the Stateline Friendship Freewill Baptist Church. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Brandon Seals; sister, Maureen Tucker; brother, Billy Joe Jones; nephew, Billy Wayne Jones; niece, Shannon "Sissy" Jones. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Linda J. Bonnie Estelle Keller, 89, of Fayetteville, died Saturday (June 25, 2011) at the Lincoln Care Center. She was a native of Lincoln County, the daughter of the late Alec E. and Cora Emma George Keller. Ms. Keller was a retired housekeeper for Lincoln Care Center, a former cook at Vanntown School and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Survivors include her sister-in-law, Annie Mae Keller of Vanntown; nieces, Nancy (Dale) Walker of Fayetteville, Linda Black of Mobile, Ala., Virginia Murray and Frances Boskby, both of Florida; nephews, Lorrey (Catherine) Keller of Vanntown, Melvin (Ann) Keller of Fayetteville, Paul Keller of Ohio, Jerry Keller of McMinnville, Jimmy Keller of Tallahassee, Fla., Bobby Keller of Murfreesboro; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. Robbie Mitchell, 66, of Taft, died Sunday (June 19, 2011) at her residence. Mrs. Mitchell was a native of Lincoln County, the daughter of the late Earl and Tennie Smith Thompson. She was a cashier and a member of the Stateline Freewill Baptist Church. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Mitchell; daughter, Donna Shelton; and sisters, Marie Lasater, Gelean Cothren and Brenda Hillard. Nancy Panzeri, 92, of Hazel Green, Ala., died Saturday (June 25, 2011) at Whitesburg Gardens Health Care Center. Mrs. Panzeri was a native of Warren County, the daughter of the late John Madewell and Nannie Curtis. She was a housewife, a veteran of the United States Army, a member of the American Legion and a member of Unity Church of Christ. Survivors include her daughters, Eleanor Poole of Hazel Green, Ala., Nancy Straley of Nashville, Terisa Thompson of Hazel Green; son, Franklyn Panzeri of Huntsville, Ala.; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon in the chapel of the Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with Bro. Glyn Pool and Bro. Charles Marable officiating. Burial followed in Stateline cemetery. Jacqueline Storey Poteat, 86, died Friday (June 24, 2011) at home following an extended illness. She was born Jan. 15, 1925 in Flat Rock and grew up in Dellrose. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Carl Asbury Poteat, Sr.; her father, Charles Mathew Storey; her mother, Maggie Ellen Stewart Storey; and her brothers, Charles and Wayne Storey. She is survived by three children, Victoria P. Loyd (Danny), Birmingham, Ala., Carl A. Poteat, Jr. (Susan), Prattville, Ala., and Ami P. Simpson (Thomas J. [Joe]), Montgomery, Ala. She adored her seven grandchildren and their spouses: Kerry Loyd, Charleston, S.C.; Eric Loyd, Birmingham; Brenna (Dan) Bennett, Huntsville, Ala.; Sarah Harmon (James Edward [Bo]), Atlanta, Ga.; Sam Poteat, Prattville; T.J. (Thomas J.) Simpson (Melissa), Baton Rouge, La.; and Charles Kirby Simpson, Tuscaloosa, Ala. She was a long-time member of the Vaughn Park Church of Christ. She was lovingly cared for in her last few years by devoted companions, Bertha Humphrey, La Sonya Humphrey and Chandra Clark. A military wife, she made her home in several states and two foreign countries during her lifetime. She was an active volunteer wherever she lived until declining health limited her to home in her senior years. She enjoyed gardening, reading, singing and sewing. A memorial service was held Sunday afternoon at Vaughn Park Church of Christ. Active pallbearers were her grandsons. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Vaughn Park Church of Christ for the establishment of a college scholarship in her honor.

Melvin Lee Robinson, 69, of Fayetteville, died Thursday morning (June 23, 2011) in Lincoln Medical Center. He was a native of Lincoln County and the son of the late Willie Taylor and Flossie Lou Locke Robinson. Mr. Robinson was a farmer and a member of Father's House Church. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Wilbanks. Survivors include his wife, Jennie Mae Wilbanks Robinson of Fayetteville; two sons, Mike Presley and wife, Misty, of Taft, and Gary Presley and wife, Cindy, of Elora; grandchildren, Nicole, Kayla, Gracie, Matt and Emily Presley; brother, Leon Robinson of Shelbyville; two sisters, Florence Franklin and Rachel Dunnivant, both of Fayetteville; and several nieces and nephews. Nellie Rolin Van Manen, 87, of Ardmore died Monday (June 20, 2011) at Athens-Limestone Hospital in Athens, Ala. Marie Curtis Brewer, 92, of Fayetteville, died Friday (Nov. 18, 2011) at her residence. She was a native of Lincoln County and the daughter of the late Will C. and Mildred Brownlow Curtis. She was the wife of the late Ira Wilson Brewer, who passed away in 1973. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. She is survived by two sons, Tommy and wife, Kay Brewer, and Stan and wife, Deborah Brewer, all of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Caleb Brewer and wife, Hannah, of Tampa, Fla., Amy Lisle and husband, Peyton, of Murfreesboro, Desiree Smith and husband, Anthony, of Fayetteville and Cameron Brewer of Fayetteville; great-grandchildren, Ethan Brewer, Hope Brewer and Isabella Smith. Hazel McFerrin Watson Hall, 88, retired hairdresser and resident of Eiger Place, died Saturday (Nov. 19, 2011) at Life Care of Columbia. The Lincoln County native was the daughter of the late Charlie B. McFerrin and Mary Colvert McFerrin Eslick. She was a graduate of Blanche High School. A faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Mrs. Hall loved sewing in her leisure time. She was first married to James B. Watson, who died in 1985. On Feb. 7, 1991, she married Jeptha Roy Hall, Jr., who died Nov. 2, 2000. Survivors include her daughter, Marsha Watson (John) Kirk of Columbia; granddaughter, Sarah Kirk (Jeff) Southworth of Columbia; great-grandson, Benjamin Kirk Southworth of Columbia; step-children, Jennifer (Greg) Lewis of Franklin, Patricia (Don) Smith of Salisbury, N.C., Melissa (Wade) Bibb of Knoxville and Jeptha Roy (Kris) Hall, III of Nappanee, Ind.; 13 step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Bonnie McFerrin of Fayetteville; and brother-in-law, Luther Hopkins of Fayetteville. She was preceded in death by a son, Benny Watson; five sisters; and three brothers. Dolly Dimple Kelley, 79, of Flintville, died Sunday (Nov. 20, 2011) at her home. She was born Nov. 28, 1931, in Huntland, the daughter of the late Farris and Mamie (Hall) Shockley. She was the wife of J.D. Kelley, who survives her. Mrs. Kelley was employed by Genesco Shoe. She was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Wayne Kelley; five brothers; and five sisters. Surviving are daughters, Janice (Mark) Syler of Flintville and Joan (Jackie) Laster of Flintville; sister, Nellie (Sonny) Burks of Winchester; sister-in-law, Beverly Shockley of Huntsville, Ala.; granddaughters, Wendy Simmons and Stephanie (Curtis) Barnett; great-granddaughter, Caitlin Simmons; as well as several nieces and nephews. Patricia Ann Oliver, 78, of Fayetteville, died Sunday (Nov. 13, 2011) at Lincoln Donalson Care Center in Fayetteville. She was born Sept. 24, 1933, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of the late Stanley and Agnes (Dacey) Kreish. She was employed by Northern Bell as an operator. She was preceded in death by brothers, Jimmy and Billy Kreish, and son, David Oliver. Surviving are son, Dennis "Doc" (Jennifer) Oliver of Dickson; daughters, Diane (Glen) Rowland of Belvidere, Debbie (Wayne) Young of Portland, Donna Maxwell of Estill Springs and Denise (Chris) Turner of Winchester; as well as 12 loving grandchildren; and seven loving great-grandchildren. Mildred Juanita Ortner, 90, of Tullahoma, died Saturday (Nov. 12, 2011) at the Manchester Healthcare Center. A native of Fayetteville, she was one of fourteen children of the late Jesse and Minnie Elizabeth Towry. She was a retired seamstress at Tennessee Apparel, a greeter at Wal-Mart for 10 years and was a member of the Highland Baptist Church. She was known as "Granny" to most all who knew her. Graveside services were conducted Monday (Nov. 14) at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with Bro. Rudy Wilkinson officiating. Tullahoma Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. M. Christine Poole, 79, of Taft, died Thursday (Nov. 17, 2011) at Lincoln Medical Center. Mrs. Poole was a native of Jackson County, the daughter of the late Logan Simpson Loftis and Lois Lucille Mabrey. She was a housewife and a member of the Camargo Church of Christ. She is preceded in death by her parents and children, Donnie Poole, Oscar Lee Poole and Brenda Jean Thomas. Survivors include her husband, Oscar Lee Poole of Taft; daughters, Debbie Edens of Antioch, Pam (Steve) Meadows of Nashville, Sherri (Jimmy) Cashion of Fayetteville; son, Bobby D. George A. Pope, Sr., 88, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday (Nov. 1, 2011) at Lincoln Medical Center. He was a native of Niagara Falls, N.Y., the son of the late Thomas and Florence Sparling Pope. He was an ironworker, a member of the First United Methodist Church and was a WWII Army veteran. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Margaret Schul Pope; children, Patricia Cleveland of Reston, Va., Sharon Pope of Fayetteville, Larry (Christine) Pope of Homasassa, Fla., George (Brenda) Pope, Jr., of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; grandchildren, Beth (Pete) Altimari, Martin Cleveland, all of Fayetteville; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Barbara (Walter) Krupa of Camden. Alfred E. "Pete" Smith, Jr., 64, of Fayetteville, died Thursday (Nov. 17, 2011) at Lincoln Medical Center. He was a native of Lincoln County and the son of the Alfred E. "Pete" Smith, Sr., and Becky Moore Smith, who survives. Mr. Smith was a truck driver, former owner of a tire store and a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Donna Pigg Smith of Fayetteville; two daughters, Christie Smith of Huntsville and Missy Smith of Fayetteville; son, Corey Smith and wife, Stephanie, of Fayetteville; sister, Debbie Faulkner and husband, Joe; brothers, Randy Smith and wife, Cathy, Tracey Smith and wife, Valesha, and Terry Smith, all of Fayetteville; four grandchildren, Jordan, Austin, Damien and Kynlee Smith; one niece; and several nephews. Graveside services were conducted Sunday afternoon at Riverview Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Tim Smith officiating. Higgins Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Billie Lindsay Towry, 85, of Nashville, formerly of Fayetteville, died Thursday (Nov. 17, 2011) at her residence in Nashville. She was born in Detroit, Mich., to William S. and Wilma Craig Lindsay but was a resident of Fayetteville where she graduated from Central High School and was employed by Union National Bank until her marriage to William Burton Towry in 1949. For many years, she worked during harvest season at their business, Towry Gin Co. and Towry Enterprises. Later in her life, she became a familiar face at Lincoln County Library where she retired after working there 20 years. She was a member of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church over 65 years. Survivors include her daughter, Linda Lane Overton and husband, Hugh, of Dothan, Ala.; two sons, William Shields Towry of Fayetteville and Burton Lindsay Towry and wife, Suzanne, of Franklin; grandchildren, Michael Lane of Nashville, Lindsay Towry of Nashville, Jacob Towry of Franklin and Shields Towry of Fayetteville; and sister, Ann Lindsay Guynn and husband, Herb, of Camdenton, Mo. Funeral services were conducted Monday morning at the Fayetteville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church with Dr. Calvin Todd officiating. Burial followed in Riverview Memorial Gardens beside her husband and sweetheart of 60 years, William Burton Towry, who died in December of 2009. Memorials may be made to the ARP Church, Fayetteville-Lincoln County Library or the Alzheimer's Association. Higgins Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Michael Wayne Towry, 58, of Flintville, died Wednesday (Nov. 16, 2011) at the Donalson Skill Care Center. Mr. Towry was a native of Hammond, Ind., the son of the late Myrtle Olene Kimbrough Towry and the late Aaron Towry. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines. Mr. Towry was a member of the Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church. Survivors include sons, Eric Wade Towry, Matthew Aaron (Marsha) Towry, both of Huntsville, Ala.; grandchildren, Matthew Dalton Towry, Briley Ann Towry; brother, Dwayne Towry; nephew, Thomas Towry; niece, Ailene Towry; step-mother, Rachel Towry of Fayetteville. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon in the chapel of the Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Johnson officiating. Burial followed in Lincoln cemetery. Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
