Kingsport - Elizabeth Tipton, 85 of Kingsport, passed away on Friday, September 14, 2007, at her residence.
She was born in Wise County, VA and had lived in Kingsport for most of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband William C. Tipton; son, William R. Tipton; parents, W. G. Clevenger and Ella Mae Bass Clevenger; several sisters and brothers.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Warick and husband Ed of Bluff City; son, Ronny Tipton of Kingsport; six grandchildren, Steve Tipton, Shelia Hall, Scott Tipton, Sherry Williams, Stacy Warick and John Tipton; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Thelma Copas, Evelyn Salyers, Dorothy Deel and Betty Dunham all of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Sunday at Holston View cemetery with Pastor J. W. Depew officiating.

Bernard "Barney" Easterly
Kingsport – Bernard “Barney” Sevier Easterly passed away unexpectedly Wednesday (September 5, 2007) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport.
He was born in Russell County, VA (Hansonville) and had lived in this area since 1950’s. He attended Columbia university of New York and Northeast State. He served in the U.S. Air force, Rank of Sergeant. Retired from co-owner of a mining company in West VA. He was employed at LaQuinta Inn as a courtesy van driver.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bernard Sevier Easterly Sr. and Katherine Elizabeth Bausell Easterly; sisters, Sue Easterly, Fannie Cross, Agnes Parker; brother, William Easterly; son, Stephen Sevier Easterly.
He is survived by his wife Wilma Janette Poteet Easterly, of the home; daughter, Kathryn A. Easterly Rutledge and husband Vince, Kingsport; grandchildren, Amber Cox, Tony Halterman, Ashley Halterman and Shannon Rutledge; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Calling hours will be Saturday (September 8, 2007) from 5 to 7 p.m. at Carter Trent Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be Saturday 7 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Brandon Canter officiating
A military graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Sunday (September 9, 2007) at Tri- Cities Memory Garden with the TN National Guard and American Legion Post3/265. Honorary Pallbearers will be Clay Hall, Mike Halterman, Vince Rutledge, David Meade, Gary Barron, David Easterly, Jeff Easterly and Tony Halterman. Family and friends who wish to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. A reception for family and friends will follow the graveside service at La Quinta Inn (Airport Parkway).

Robert Ellis, Jr
Kingsport - Robert E. "Bob" "Gook" Ellis, Jr., 72 of Gate City, Va., passed away on Monday, September 3, 2007, at his residence. He was a life long resident of Kingsport and a 1954 graduate of Lynn View High School. From 1955 to 1957, he served two years in the U.S. Army as a PFC with Company A-716 th Military Police Battalion, Fort Dix, NJ. He was a retired construction worker and was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Ellis and Ruth (Salyers) Ellis; brothers, Ron Ellis (1966) and Larry Ellis (1970).
He is survived by his special cousins, Rosalyn Fletcher of Kingsport and Cameron Salyers of Pound, VA; several other cousins.
Calling hours will be from 12-1 PM on Thursday September 6, 2007 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Joe W. Byrd officiating.
Military graveside services will be conducted at Oak Hill Memorial Park with the American Legion Post #3/265 and the TN National Guard, Joe W. Byrd, Chaplain, performing the rites. Pallbearers will be Ralph Barrett, Donnie Barrett, Tommy Dorton, Billy Dorton, Jimmy Good and Terry Chapman which are members of the Tennessee Peacemakers Motorcycle Club. Honorary pallbearers will be members of The Peacemakers Club.

Nell Anderson Shelton
Kingsport- Nell Anderson Shelton, 82, Kingsport, passed away unexpectedly Sunday (August 26, 2007) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
She was born in Wise County, VA (Big Stone Gap), made her home in Kingsport for 50 years. She was a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Cora Anderson; sisters, Dorothy Best and Margaret Euchner; brother, Donald Anderson.
She is survived by her husband, Ernest L. Shelton Jr., of the home; sons, Richard L. Shelton, Knoxville, TN, Michael F. Shelton and wife Debra, Hickory, NC, Terry S. Shelton and wife Mary, Lee’s Summit, MO; grandchildren, Jennifer B. Shelton, Charleston, SC, Patrick D. Shelton and Kevin M. Shelton, Hickory ,NC, Katlyn Bell, Luke Shelton and Brett Shelton, Lee’s Summit, MO; sister, Mary Winstead, San Francisco, California; brother, Alfred R. “Bud” Anderson, Casa Grande, AZ; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Thursday (August 30, 2007) from 9:30 to 10 a.m. at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jack Edwards officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Burial will follow at American Legion cemetery, Powell Valley, VA.

Howard Dillon
Kingsport - Howard C. Dillon, 78 of Kingsport, died on Monday, August 27, 2007, at Indian Path Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Maxie (Vest) Dillon and a son, David Dillon.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Dillon of the home; son, Tom Dillon of Bean Station, TN; granddaughters, Shelley Altrip and husband Scott of Blountville, Rhonda Walker and husband Abe of Bean Station; three great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be from 1-2 PM Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Stephen Burkhart officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Osha Alice Hensley, 76, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Sunday (August 26, 2007) at Hillside Manor Health Care following a long illness.
She was a life long resident of Kingsport.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Hensley; parents, Sam and Laura Hicks Dunn; sisters, Gracie Bright, Mollie Jones, Geneva Austin Jones; brother, Walter “Buddy” Dunn.
She is survived by her life long companion, Billy Darnell, Kingsport; sons, Mitchell Hensley and wife Julie and Tony Hensley and wife Lisa, all of Kingsport; grandchildren, Bridget Hensley Morrell and husband David, Shane Hensley; sister, Ethel Henry, Kingsport; brother, Jimmy Dunn, Kingsport; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Tuesday (August 28, 2007) from 5 to 7 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.

Tony Alan Satterfield
Tony Alan Satterfield, 24, Kingsport, passed away Monday (August 20, 2007), at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital.
Tony was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County, (Kingsport). He attended Sullivan South High School. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves for one year and served on active duty for three years in the 864th Engineering Battalion in Iraq and Fort Lewis, Washington.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Vivian Breeding Satterfield.
Tony is survived by his wife, Amber Patterson Satterfield, Kingsport; parents, Alton W. Satterfield and wife Candace, Tammy J. Keller and husband Dean Johnson all of Kingsport; paternal grandfather, Wayne Satterfield, Gray; maternal grandparents, Carl and Bertha Johnson, Kingsport; mother-in-law, Jeri George, Kingsport; step-father, Jeff Greene, Johnson City; a newborn baby on the way, Krista Jade Satterfield; sister, Amanda Greene, Kingsport; step-sister, Holly Keller, Kingsport; brother, Carl “Buck” Johnson, Kuwait; step-brothers, Joey Hall, Johnson City and Dean Paul Keller, Kingsport; two special nieces, Madison Greene, Kingsport and Katelynn Sanders, Hawaii.

Pallbearers will be the Tennessee National Guard and the American Legion Color Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Jones and Carl “Buck” Johnson.

Mildred Reece Parker, 60, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord, Sunday (August 19, 2007) at her residence.
Born in Johnson County, TN and moved to Kingsport in 1969. She was a member of Weber City Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her Father Franklin Reece in 1972; brother, Sam Reece.
She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Parker, of the home, daughter, Ann Hall and husband Rob, Kingsport; son, Daniel Parker, and wife Shelia, Kingsport; mother, Jestie Gentry Reece, Kingsport; grandchildren, Justin and Laura Dunn; great-grandchildren, Kamryn Williams and Avery Bush; sisters, Edna Reece, Bristol, TN, Betty Reece and Mary Price both of Bristol, VA, brothers, Russell Reece, Jonesboro, TN, Joe Reece, Abington, VA; special great-nephews, Roger and Christopher Alexander; several nieces and nephews.
