Kyle Wagner
Kingsport - Kyle Gerald "Curley" Wagner, 69 ,of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday (April 19, 2006) at Holston Valley Medical Center.
Born in Echols, WV and had lived in Kingsport most of his life.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army for over 6 years and a member of the VFW Post 10028 in Maryland. He was retired from White Floral Co. after over 40 years service as a funeral designer. He was a member of Kingsport Antique Car and Rod Club. He restored several cars through the years.
Kyle was preceded in death by his parents, Kyle Wagner and Grace Tomlinson Wagner and a brother, Reginald Wagner.
Surviving are his wife, Idania Grizzle Wagner of the home; his children, Pat Kirk and husband Doug of Florida, Teresa Wagner of Kingsport and twins, Joyce Wagner of Kingsport and Gerald Wagner of Oak Ridge; mother of his children, Virgie Mayberry; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister, Joyce King of Aberdeen, MD; four brothers, Doff Wagner of Warwick, MD, Floyd Wagner of Kingsport, Kenneth DeWayne Wagner of Kingsport, Jack Wagner of Essex, MD along with several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 5 - 7 pm on Friday, April 21, 2006, at the Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Graveside services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, April 22, 2006 at the Oak Hill cemetery, Kingsport with Rev. John Brewster, officiating. Military honors will be provided by the VFW Post #3382.

Mildred Davis
Kingsport - Mildred Powers Davis, age 92 of Kingsport, died on Thursday, April 20, 2006 at her residence following a brief illness. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior in 1949. Mildred was born in Wise, VA, moving to the Kingsport area in the fifties. She was a homemaker, whose love was her family, and was a member of Gardener's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband and father of her eight children, Steve Davis, her parents, James and Myrtle Wheatley Powers, two brothers, Robert and Ray Powers and a granddaughter, Jamie Shaimane Davis.
She is survived by her four daughters: Patricia "Patty" Turner of Kingsport, Rhetta Edwards and husband Jack of Gate City, Linda Miller and husband Pete of Kingsport and Kathy Babb and husband Paul of Gate City. Four sons: Jim Davis and wife Nancy of Mt Carmel, Ron Davis and wife Gerrie of Kingsport, Bob Davis and wife Diane of Kingsport and Nicky Davis and wife Mary of Church Hill. Three granddaughters, six grandsons, ten great-grandchildren, sister, Bernice Fritz, one niece and four nephews.
Calling hours will be from 5-7 PM on Saturday April 22, 2006 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Don Fritz and Elder Allen Hensley officiating. Pallbearers will be Grandsons.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday at Walnut Chapel Church cemetery. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:55 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Walnut Chapel Church cemetery Fund, C/O Jack Edwards, 13906 E. Carters Valley Road, Gate City, VA 24251.

Lee Pierson
Ft Blackmore, VA - Rufus Lee Pierson (Red Hog), 59 of Fort Blackmore, Va., went to be with the Lord, Sunday, July 1, 2007, at Holston Valley Medical Center following an extended illness.
Lee was born in Kingsport, but had lived most of his life in Scott County, Virginia. He had recently made his home in Florida. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Germany. After leaving the army, he worked as a mechanic for Harry Mills Volkswagen and Mason-Dixon Trucking Company before becoming an over the road truck driver until he retired due to ill health. He was a member of Peters Chapel Church (Alley Valley Community). Lee was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Don Wise, June 28, 2007.
He is survived by his devoted and faithful wife and caregiver of 37 years, Joan Gibson Pierson of the home; daughter, Kristi Hayes and husband Frank of Ft. Blackmore, Va; son, Steven Pierson and wife Lois of Florida; grandchildren, Kory Hayes, Amanda Hayes, Matthew Pierson and Savanah Carter; parents, Rufus and Mimia Hensley Pierson of Kingsport; Joan would like to thank Lee's extended family for their care and compassion during his illness: sister-in-law, Marti Wise, brother-in-law, Daniel "Boone" Gibson and wife Jan, sister-in-law, Carolan Rhea and husband Larry, and mother-in-law, Pauline Huddleston; sister, Dana Poore of Kingsport; brothers, Donnie Pierson and wife Kathy of Rogersville, Gary Pierson and Maggie of Florida, Eddie Pierson and wife Jackie of Kingsport and Teddy Pierson of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Lee's wishes, he will be cremated. A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 PM on Thursday July 5, 2007 at Peters Chapel Church (Alley Valley Community) with Pastor Sonny Starnes officiating. Family will receive friends following the service at the home of Daniel and Jan Gibson, Ft. Blackmore, or anytime at the home of his parents in Lynn Garden.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Peters Chapel Church Building Fund, Rt #1, Ft. Blackmore, VA 24250.

Bobby Dykes
Kingsport - Bobby J. Dykes, 74 of Kingsport, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2007, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Smithdale, Miss, Bobby had been a resident of Kingsport since 1980. He was a retired truck driver having worked for Transcon Freight Lines and Consolidated Freight and was a member of the Teamsters Local 549. He was a member of the Northeast Church of Christ.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Alma Stone Dykes; son, Terry Dykes; brothers, Thomas and Raiford Dykes.
He is survived by his wife, Armarette Dykes of the home; daughter, Lana Abrams and husband Jim Commerce, TX; sons, Jeff Dykes and wife Kim of Franklin, TN, Scott Dykes and Tommy Dykes and wife Brandie all of Kingsport; grandchildren, Justin Dykes, Casey Dykes, Heather Dykes and Halle Dykes; sisters, Janie Williamson of Ferriday, LA and Lou Caston and husband Dallas of Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2-4 PM Sunday, July 8, 2007, at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Craig Cottongim officiating.
Military graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Monday at Mt. Home National cemetery, Mt. Home, TN with the American Legion Post #3/265 and the TN National Guard performing the rites. Pallbearers will be Rick Yates, Ron Spears, Wayne Cotnam, Phil Hensley, C. J. Shirley and Frank Spradlin.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Northeast Church of Christ, Benevolent Fund, (Clothing for Children), 2217 Beechnut Dr, Kingsport, TN 37660.
The family would like to thank the Northeast Church of Christ for their kindness and concern during Bobby's illness.

Gregory Bartley, Sr.
Kingsport - Gregory Lee Bartley, Sr., 43 of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 7, 2007, at Holston Valley Medical Center, unexpectedly.
Born in Detroit, MI, Greg had lived in Kingsport since 1997.
He is survived by his sons, Greg Bartley, Jr. and Eric Bartley both of Kingsport; his parents Dallas and Pauline Brown Stephens; brothers, Roger Stephens and wife Josie of Woodhaven, MI, Edward Bartley and wife Rita of Pikeville, KY and Steven Bartley and fiancee Carmen of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews; special uncle, John Brown of Jefferson City, TN.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 3, 2007 at Holston View cemetery where family and friends will share special memories of Greg. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 AM.

William "Sam" McLain
Kingsport - William O. "Sam" McLain, 88 of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 8, 2007, at Sunbridge Hillside Manor Healthcare.
Mr. McLain was born in the Van Hill community of Hawkins County, Tennessee. He spent most of his life in Baileyton and Fall Branch. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, where he fought in the European Theater and Italy, receiving the Purple Heart Award. He retired from Eastman Kodak in 1981 after 39 years service in the Filter Products Division.
He was preceded in death by his parents William and Mary Elva (Brown) McLain; sisters Pauline McLain, Mabel Crumley, Lea McLain, Lola Wilder and Nancy Edith Ryans; brother, Charles A. McLain
He is survived by his wife, Regina Madalee (Riddle) McLain of Kingsport; daughter, Nanci Rutledge and fiance Gary Thomas of Kingsport; grandsons, Sr. Airman D. Alan Rutledge, Jr., U.S.A.F., of Fayetteville, NC and Lance W. Rutledge of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at Fall Branch United Methodist Church cemetery with Rev. Ike Brighton officiating. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:55 pm.
The family wishes to thank Sam's sister-in-law, Bea McLain and niece and nephew Stella Kay McLain and John McLain for the care, concern and helpfulness they have shown for many years.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Waverly Road Presbyterian Church Food Pantry, 1415 Waverly Road, Kingsport, TN 37664.

Robert Taylor
Kingsport - Robert Eugene Taylor, 70, by grace through faith in Christ, entered God’s presence early Monday morning, July 9, 2007.
Robert was born May 11, 1937 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He spent his early years there and in North Carolina, before coming to Kingsport in the early 1970’s. Robert was one of the early residents of Miller Village apartments, living there until he moved to Wexford House Healthcare in November 2005.
Robert loved to travel, and had an amazing ability to recall facts and statistics about cities and towns throughout the United States and the world. He also had a brilliant recall of dates, times, and mathematical facts that he enjoyed sharing with his friends.
Robert was a faithful member of Holy Mountain Baptist Church where he participated in the choir and the Senior Adult Ministry. He was an integral part of the church family and will always be cherished as a dear friend and brother in Christ.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Viola Taylor and a brother Charles.
Survivors include three brothers, Billy, Leo, Carl and a sister Barbara Jean. Others include his Pastor and church family; and many friends, especially those at the Main Specialty Shop and the Wexford House staff.
Visitation will be from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at Holy Mountain Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 7:30 pm at the church with Pastor Jerry Musick officiating.
Graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens. Friends will serve as pallbearers. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions for funeral expenditures can be made to Holy Mountain Baptist Church c/o Robert Taylor Funeral Expense Fund, P.O. Box 4177 Kingsport, TN 37665.
