Gilmer Mullins

Gilmer Clyde Mullins, 59, Gray, Tenn., went to be with the Lord Thursday, (July 12, 2007), at his home, with his family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Russell County, Va. and had lived most of his life in this area. He served in the U.S. Army in the 8th Engineer Division and the 1st Calvary Division, during the Vietnam Conflict, and was awarded medals for Good Conduct, Army Commendation, The Bronze Star, Vietnam Service, and the Vietnam Campain. He was a member of the Tenn. National Guard in Erwin and attended Greenvale Baptist Church in Gray.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernia and Gertha (Osborne) Mullins; two sisters, Juanita Patrick, and Jane Whitley.
Gilmer is survived by his wife, Jennifer D. Mullins of the home; daughters, Marti Blais, Jacksonville, Fla., Rachel McCurry and husband Samuel, Gray, Tn.; son, John Mullins, Gray, Tn.; grandsons, Caine Blais, Matthew Mullins, Shane Mullins, Hunter Mullins; sisters, Vergie Williams, Kingsport, Nancy Hardy, Rocky Mount,Va., Flossie Kennedy, Gray, Mollie Dober, Summerville, Ga., Charlene Stacy, Mt. Carmel; half-sisters, Lana Spirko, Lisa Winebarger, Teresa Manles, Frances Head; brothers, Robert Mullins, Harold Mullins, both of Mt. Carmel, Junior Mullins, Church Hill; half brother, Larry Mullins; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Saturday (July 14, 2007) from 4 to 7 p.m. at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport. Friends may also visit anytime at the residence of 512 Hales Chapel Rd., Gray, Tn.
Funeral service will be Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Jackie Bradley, and Rev. Wrightly Salling officiating. Music will be provided by Jackie Bradley.
A military graveside service will be conducted Sunday at Holston View cemetery at 1 p.m. with the VFW Post 3382 and the Virginia National Guard, Chaplin Frank McConnell. Pallbearers will be the VFW Color Guard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lawrence Winnegar, and L.D. Harris. Friends and family who wish to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12 noon.

Ina Savage
Mrs. Ina Savage, 81, Maynardville, Tenn. went to be with the Lord Friday (July 13, 2007) at her residence.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Minnie Yadon; husband, Paris Savage; sons, Riley and Jackie Savage; and granddaughter, Cathy Butler.
Mrs. Savage is leaving behind two daughters, Frances Williams, Knoxville, with whom Mrs. Savage made her home with for the last three and one half years, Kay and David Chesney, Luttrell; five sons, Danny Savage, Andy and Shirley Savage, L.E. and Mary Savage, Dwight and LaDeana Savage all of Luttrell, P.A. and wife Tracie Savage, of Maynardville; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services 1:00 PM Monday, Cooke Mortuary Chapel, Maynardville. Rev. Ronnie McBee officiating with music by Rev. Richard and Linda Nicely.
Interment to follow at Savage Family cemetery, Luttrell. Pallbearers: grandsons, Anthony, Randy, Adam, Michael, Jason and Dustin Savage.

Dorothy “Dot” Horner
Dorothy “Dot” Horner, 68 of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Sunday (July 15, 2007) at Holston Valley Medical Center following a long illness.
She was born in Baileyton, TN and had been a resident of Kingsport for most of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harley and Virgie (Caldwell) Adams.
Dot is survived by her husband, Andrew C. Horner of the home; daughter, Teresa Chase and husband Tim, Kingsport; granddaughters, Misty Gillenwater and husband Corey, and Meranda Hensley; great grandchildren, Destiny and Bailey Gillenwater, Sebastian Hensley; four sisters; four brothers; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Wednesday (July 18, 2007) from 5 to 7 p.m. at Carter Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Funeral service will be Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Gary Calhoun officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Thursday (July 19, 2007) at 10 a.m. at Zion cemetery in Baileyton, Tenn. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:55 a.m.

Espie Seckler
Espie J. Seckler, 86 of Greenville, Tenn., went to be with the Lord on Friday (July 13, 2007), at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born in New Castle, NC, and had lived in Greenville and Kingsport, and she was of the Baptist Faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Seckler; daughters, Lucy Seckler, Sandra Hawkins; granddaughters, Lucy and Stephanie Hawkins; brothers, Jack, Lee, and Burl Johnson
Espie is survived by her daughters, Susan Crum, and husband Willis, Greenville,Tenn., Patty Collins, and husband Jeff, Church Hill, Barbara Mills, Greenville, Tenn., Meg Taylor, and husband Billy, Mt. Carmel; sons, Jack Seckler, and wife Joy, Greenfield,Tenn., Dale Seckler, and Janice, Greenville,Tenn., Barry Seckler, and wife Deborah, Kingsport; 27 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Betty, Doll, and Gerri; four brothers, Jim, Doug, Larry and Jesse; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Tuesday (July 17, 2007) from 5 to 7 p.m. at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Funeral service will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Donnie Gaddis and Adam Gaddis officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at 10 a.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park. Friends and family area asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:55 a.m.

Darrell Castle
Darrell Frank Castle, 55, a lifelong residence of Kingsport, TN passed away unexpectedly at his residence, Thursday (July 19, 2007).
He was a member of the 1969 graduating class at Dobyns Bennett High School, and served in the U.S. Air force for four years. He graduated from East Tennessee State University nursing school, and later retired from Wellmont Home Health Care. Darrell was a member of Temple Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, M. H. Castle Jr.; maternal grandparents, John and Cary Hall, Spruce Pine, NC, and paternal grandparents, M.H. and Cassie Castle.
Darrell is survived by his mother, Velma Hall Castle (Wexford House), Kingsport; sister Mrs. Clayton J. (Pam) Douglas, Kingsport; niece, Mrs. Bob (Angie) Dennison, Kingsport; nephews, Brandon Douglas and wife Mindy, Andrew Douglas both of Kingsport; several aunts, and great nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Sunday (July 22) from 2 to 4 p.m. at Carter Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport. Friends may also visit at anytime at the residence of 1652 Fairfield Ave., Kingsport TN.
A military graveside service will be conducted at Mountain Home National cemetery at 10 a.m. Monday (July 23, 2007) with Rev. Dallas Renfro officiating. The service will include the American Legion Hammond Post 3/265 and the TN. National Guard, Joe W. Byrd Chaplin. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary Pallbearers will be, Wes Carter, Charles Allen, Dallas Renfro, C.J. Douglas, Jerry Gilliam, Wendell Lowe, and Wendell David Lowe Jr. Friends and family who wish to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:55 a.m.

Helen Tankersley
Kingsport - Helen Marsh Tankersley, 69 of Kingsport, passed away Friday, July 27, 2007, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Hawkins County, Helen had been a resident of Kingsport for most of her life. She was retired from Holston Valley Medical Center where she worked as a nurse.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Tankersley; her son, Chad Tankersley; her parents, Thomas and Ethel (Sivert) Marsh; brothers, J. T. "Junior" Marsh and Lyle Marsh.
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Don and Nadine Marsh; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends whom she dearly loved.
Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Monday (July 30, 2007) at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Joe Hill officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Marsh cemetery, Mt. Zion Road, Church Hill, TN. Pallbearers will be Paul Marsh, Darryl Marsh, Stacey Marsh, Joe Marsh, Brent Edwards and Jack Light. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church of one's choice or to the Marsh cemetery, C/O June Roller, 405 Silver Lake Rd, Church Hill, TN 37642 or C/O Wanda Edwards, 461 S. Central Ave, Church Hill, TN 37642.

Sandra Hensley
Today and forevermore we honor the life, love and courage of Sandra (Sandy) Stafford Hensley. Sandy valiantly fought to survive the cancer that was put upon her; however, on July 30, 2007 she was called by her Lord and Savior, told “ she had fought the good fight” but that it was time to come home to be with him and her loved ones there with him.
Sandy was born March 4, 1959 in Kingsport,TN and lived there her entire life, and was a homemaker. Sandy was led to meet her Savior by a special friend and spiritual leader, Pastor Mike Stout.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Bonnie Stafford.
Sandy is survived by her father, Gaines W. Stafford; son, Kenny Hensley and wife Kayla; daughter, April Hensley; grandchildren, Alisa, Heaven, and Tristan; sister, Tammy Davis and husband Keith; brother, Michael Stafford; many nieces and nephews; her companion in life, Roy Kronk; and her special friend, Judy Love.
Calling hours will be Wednesday (August 01, 2007) from 6 to 7 p.m. at Carter Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Memorial service will be Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Carter Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Stout officiating.
Entombment services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Oak Hill Mausoleum. Family and friends who wish to attend are asked to meet at the mausoleum at 10:55 a.m.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff and caregivers of Brookhaven Manor and Hospice for their love and support.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are asked to be made to Sullivan County Humane Society, P.O. Box 922 Kingsport, TN 37660 (423-247-1671).
